Welcome! Please make yourselves comfortable. I thank you all for your patience and support throughout the times that we've shared. flowers

Words fail me. Please those of you in touch with fgt give her my love and every good wish for her and mrfgt for the future. Where’s the compassion?

Goodnight all. I’m too bemused by this to post properly.

GrannySomerset Sat 07-Jun-25 01:22:46

I cannot believe that there is anyone who would want to make a difficult life even harder. How cruel - and how disappointing that Gransnet has let them do it.

GrandmaC47 Sat 07-Jun-25 07:49:54

I too am disgusted at the treatment of Fgt can’t believe the pettiness of some people. Hope she keeps reading and knows how much she is thought off

Susan56 Sat 07-Jun-25 08:01:38

I cannot believe FGT has been banned.Where is the compassion for a lovely lady going through probably the worst time of her life.
Is there anything we can do to help get FGT reinstated?

TerriBull Sat 07-Jun-25 08:17:15

Another interloper here. So shocked and sorry to hear that our lovely FGT has been bannedsad How do these things happen, posts get reported quite frequently, does the reporter request for the banning of the poster ???shock What an utterly mean spirited thing to do given FGT's personal worries at the moment, and this place is such a great support for those going through anxious times.

FGT is one of GN's characters full of warm humour, her love and concern for 'himself' always evident. Her observations of their dual lives in Manchester and Malaga a joy to read, makes this soft southerner want to visit her home city, I've never been.

I didn't read the reported post, but on such a loaded thread there are going to be a range of opinions. I'm so pissed off with the person who got her banned, happy now are you?

If you are reading this FGT have no doubt you are a popular and well liked poster, I like so many here shall miss you, I was so glad when you joined us over on the book thread, it was apparent books were important in your life and your contributions there were appreciated.

It just remains to say I hope this ban is temporary and you will return to the fold before too long. In the meantime best wishes to you and of course himself xx

Greyduster Sat 07-Jun-25 08:33:40

Another lurker here. I’m gobsmacked that anyone should do that, and that GN moderators would ban her now, if all times. As one who was in the same position as FGT is now, I know how much the support of the GN community is to her. For shame, GN! I’m close to tears.

Jalyn Sat 07-Jun-25 08:39:07

A GN lurker here who is outraged by the banning of FGT and have no words for the cowardly individual who reported her.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 07-Jun-25 08:53:09

Have the Gnet moderators ever clarified what results in the banning of a GN? Does it require a warning? Does it require just one GN reporting a poster or a certain number which has been exceeded? Are all the posts by the banned GN reviewed before a banning?

I would like to see a clarification. It may help to explain this current banning.

kittylester Sat 07-Jun-25 09:02:13

You could report your post and ask the question, HelterSkelter.

I would have thought that lessons had been learnt from the banning of Phoenix.

Septimia Sat 07-Jun-25 09:05:20

I agree that it would be helpful for us to understand the banning process. Does it take just one complaint from one person? It shouldn't. Deleting the post or warning the poster should at least come first. andy why do they have to be banned completely? Surely technology should be able to let them continue on uncontroversial threads.

Having said that, my best wishes to FGT and MrFGT. Take care of yourselves and send updates via friends when you can. Folk on this thread care about you.

Septimia Sat 07-Jun-25 09:06:09

And why not andy why !!

Naughtyneine Sat 07-Jun-25 09:16:56

I'm lost for words. I don't know which thread FGT posted on that's caused this to happen but I can be sure that her comments cannot be as bad as other posters who seem to go out of their way to cause distress. FGT has opened her heart to us all and shared her fears and feelings while she and Himself walk this horrible road. If something she posted has been taken the wrong way by someone then maybe they should take into account that this is someone who is facing the very real possibility that she may lose the man she loves with all her heart and any of us in that situation may not be at our best when putting things into words. I really really hope that whoever reported her thinks long and hard about what she has done and the effect it will have on FGT and contacts GN and asks for her to be reinstated.

Blossoming Sat 07-Jun-25 09:20:32

I’m shocked to learn that FGT2 has been banned. I don’t know what to say!

hulahoop Sat 07-Jun-25 09:45:18

Can't believe FGT has been banned what is wrong with some people !! ,I believe everyone in the kitchen wanted to support her and himself while they are going through what is a difficult time .

Charleygirl5 Sat 07-Jun-25 10:07:09

FGT needs support, not sent into the wilderness. Those who reported her should be ashamed, and the moderators need to reevaluate their actions.

Phoenix's treatment was an utter disgrace.

Beechnut Sat 07-Jun-25 10:12:13

I was very pleased to see that FGT was back.
Reading further down the thread the wind has well and truly disappeared from my sails on her ban.
I shall continue to wish you both the best that life can offer at this difficult time.

I can only echo everyone else’s thoughts on this.

NannyJan53 Sat 07-Jun-25 10:14:30

I read here but rarely post. Just want to add my outrage and sadness, that at a time FGT needs our support someone has seen fit to have her banned! Whoever it is should be totally ashamed.

I really hope this decision can be reversed.

spottybook Sat 07-Jun-25 10:20:02

I can’t believe FGT has been banned. Many of us have followed and shared her stoical journey over Himself and his illness right through to his latest hospital appointment. Shame on the person who reported the post and shame on GN for banning her. If you are reading this FGT I wish you and Himself my best. Come on GN do the decent thing at such a worrying and stressful time in her life and let her back into the fold.

HelterSkelter1 Sat 07-Jun-25 10:32:38

I have asked the moderators for a clarification of what justifies a ban.

Beechnut Sat 07-Jun-25 10:40:06

HelterSkelter1

I have asked the moderators for a clarification of what justifies a ban.

Thank you HelterSkelter.

Charleygirl5 Sat 07-Jun-25 11:20:27

Thanks HelterSkelter it would appear breathing is on the list. She has never come across to me as being controversial.

escaped Sat 07-Jun-25 11:37:13

I've no idea why, but from time to time I am drawn to read this thread, like today.
To say that I am also exasperated at FGT's banning is putting it mildly. I'm livid that some sneak is still amongst us and probably feeling very pleased with themselves or acting all innocent. Perhaps one day they will realise how cruel they've been to a poster who really needs the support from other posters on here.
And I know for sure that GN adopted the same stance with maddyone too when she was reported and struggling.

JenniferEccles Sat 07-Jun-25 12:28:56

I’m so shocked to read this about FGT2
How unfair.

Has anyone considered contacting GN moderators to ask if they would reconsider in view of what a dreadful time FGT2 is going through?

Usedtobeblonde Sat 07-Jun-25 13:11:11

To be absolutely fair, if the post which got her banned was on a political thread on which she often posted, the poster who reported it may be totally unaware of her personal situation.
As far as I am aware FGT only posted about her personal affairs on Good Morning and Soop’s Kitchen.
They are chatty ,friendly threads and of little interest to many.
Chat is not popular with everyone.
Moderators do not make decisions based on sentiment.
However if the person knew of her situation it would have been kind to PM with objections and I hope very sincerely they would have made some allowance.
I should find it very hard to think it was a regular on our very friendly threads.

TillyTrotter Sat 07-Jun-25 13:34:39

The poster being discussed has been so supportive of many who were facing tough times during the years she has been on GN and it is shocking that at the time she would appreciate support during her own challenges she has been deprived of it from her many GN friends.
I’m sending her my very best wishes and hope she is posting again very soon.
