Good morning all, after having a good day yesterday I had a horrendous bout of nerve pain thanks to my TMJ. Two Co Codamol helped to calm it down and I was able to sleep Ok. It will be soft food only for me today!

I have not as yet had a response from Gransnet to my questions:-
How many reportings of a post or posts are required before a ban?
Does the OP have a warning before a ban?
And what is regarded as worthy of a ban?
I hope that this will be clarified by Gransnet at some stage. I didn't see the original post so like others I don't know if it was offensive.

From memory, when bans have happened before, I think the explanation given by GNHQ was that it's not just one strike and you are banned, the OP is warned that any further inappropriate comments may lead to a ban. Perhaps those (if there are any reading this thread) that have suffered that treatment can shed some light on what actually happens?

HelterSkelter1 Mon 09-Jun-25 12:49:06

That would seem logical. Thank you Curlywhirly. I assume an "offensive" post would breach the ageist, racist, sexist (and other ists which I cant remember) rulings.

Good afternoon Kitcheners. Still no FGT I see - quick to ban and slow to reinstate!

harrigran Mon 09-Jun-25 22:31:18

I was threatened once for being xenophobic, I haven't a clue what I wrote that was offensive to the person who reported me. Half of my family live abroad and I do not have a problem with that. My husband used to travel the world in his job and I never made any comments about the countries he visited.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 09-Jun-25 22:39:28

Hello kitchen people. Still no FGT2.

I had the usual Monday morning shopping trip to Waitrose. Our cleaner came this morning and our gardener overlapped a little. She trimmed the front hedges and made a start on trimming the ceanothus which has become very straggly.

My neighbours craft group was fun. Most of us worked on creating a bead picture. Mine was composed of my favourite colours - purple, black and green.

Sleep 💤 tight.

gillgran Mon 09-Jun-25 22:58:28

Oh dear, sorry that FGT isn't able to join us at the moment, I do hope that can be resolved very soon. Meanwhile I send my warmest thoughts for her & her DH.

We've been at our little home-from-home this past weekend, (no internet connection,) so I was sorry to hear of these problems on our return home tonight.
Wet & windy there on the NW Norfolk coast, but just us, so the weather doesn't matter too much.
My DH is coping quite well, & managing his condition, & still enjoys short times away, as well as his gardening & golf.

I mostly remain in the quiet corner, but enjoy hearing of all your busy lives.
Warm & kindly thoughts for you all. x

Apologies to GNHQ they have replied to my request for clarification of what results in a ban. Their email went into Junk. They say that banning is not undertaken lightly and results from the OP having had several warnings about their posts.

I don't think GNHQ monitor the threads (they don't have the time) so someone must be consistently reporting posts.

Morning, that sounds excruciating Blossoming, you have enough to deal with.
Good to see you gillgran it’s raining here now too, but no wind.
SueD you’re having some tough times, my thoughts are with you.
We can’t third in quiz last night, three weeks now we’ve been placed, my daughter being there helps, particularly with the music round.
Have the best day you can all, I hope to see FGT appear at some point 🤞

Blossoming Tue 10-Jun-25 13:43:59

Good afternoon all. Thanks Jax, it is improving now but I still can’t open my mouth too wide and will be sticking with the soft diet. MrB did the shopping this morning. The sun is shining so we went for a walk before lunch and he has gone out on his motorbike for an hour or so. I’m trying to work up some energy and motivation to go and sort the two storage boxes in the bottom of the wardrobe. grin

brook2704 Tue 10-Jun-25 18:49:24

Hello kitchen pals, the sun came out here today and it’s starting to warm up nicely
A busy day today, two volunteering sessions as they had a last minute cancellation this morning, they phoned to see if I could go in which I did, and then back for another volunteering session this afternoon. All good and enjoyable though. Then a quick trip to DD2s, the bus into town and a bit of shopping. Another day when I’ve not got much houseswork done 🥴
Hoping you’re continuing to improve a bit today Blossoming, look after yourself
Well done with the quiz Jax 👍
Hoping Mr&Mrs Soop are both doing ok, thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all ❤️

Hello kitcheners. A nice warm afternoon after a showery morning. I went to the garden centre this morning and bought a few plants to go in the front garden. It needs clearing first and I’ll have to water it because the rain at the weekend has evaporated in the wind we’ve had.
I visited my friend with dementia this afternoon, she wasn’t happy but couldn’t tell us why, very sad.
When I got home my next door neighbour was trimming one of my shrubs which was threatening to cover the front door! It was on my “to-do” list!
I watered my tomato plants and a few other plants in pots, the gave up and cooked dinner - lasagne- comfort food!
Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Nannytopsy Tue 10-Jun-25 19:24:09

Jax I have days when I just don’t get to the housework or garden, despite my best intentions!

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 10-Jun-25 22:27:52

Hello kitchen people and especially the Soops and FGT2 who I hope will be back soon.

I had a good afternoon with friends. Later, OH and I attended the second of our pottery classes. He is getting quite good and made a splendid cereal bowl! I made an assortment of slightly misshapen pots.

Sleep 💤 tight.

cornergran Tue 10-Jun-25 23:19:08

Hello everyone

Had a super couple of hours catching up with good friends. When they travel this way to stay with family across the bridge we trundle along the motorway to meet them at a handily placed garden centre where we can all get a decent lunch. We waved them off and headed to a shopping mall where I was totally unsuccessful at tracking down the items I wanted (notice want, not needgrin). Never mind, a decent day out with little damage to the wallet.

A social morning on the horizon tomorrow with our neighbours, we thought to trundle to the sea front in the afternoon if the promised sunshine appears. It’s going to rain on Thursday, we’ll stay in then! You never know jax I may get to do outstanding housework - or maybe not smile.

I’d love to have a go at pottery ladylfl it was always on my list to get around to, sadly I fear I’ve left it too late, my hands are pretty weak and painful now. It was a great sadness when I had to stop icing celebration cakes. I became too frustrated with the finished articles, just not good enough.

Thinking of you all especially the worried or poorly.

Sleep well everyone. Night, night.

Blossoming Wed 11-Jun-25 16:34:25

Good afternoon kitchen pala. It’s been a beautiful sunny day here, we have been to Lytham and enjoyed a stroll along the sea front. I’m feeling quite sleepy now so will have a nap before dinner. This evening I will try to work out what today’s spending review will mean to me and mine.

TOYA ♥️🌹

brook2704 Wed 11-Jun-25 17:55:46

Thank you for the pictures Blossoming, we’ve had the same lovely sunny afternoon up here too. Good that you got out for a walk at Lytham and hope you’re rested now
Well done with the pottery llfl 👍
DGD is here, we did the school pick up and we’ve just finished baking some gingerbread - her favourite. DGS is away this week on his school trip so it’s just the one to look after, so much easier! This morning I enjoyed the Fitsteps class then the Line Dancing class at the gym, nothing to serious thank goodness with lots of good natured laughter when someone goes wrong. I’ve still not managed to get round to any housework today … oh well!
Hope you’ve enjoyed your day with the neighbours cornergran and a trip to the seaside
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

Grandmabatty Wed 11-Jun-25 18:57:47

brook sounds like a lovely time baking with your dgd. Blossoming lovely photos.
A busy morning for me. A washing done and hung out early. The dishwasher was emptied and loaded and I hoovered. Then I headed to the school library and spent a happy hour tidying shelves and labelling books which have suddenly appeared (end of term is approaching). After that, I went to dds as she had a mattress delivery today. While there, I hung out all her washing and did her dishes. She doesn't have a working dishwasher. Once it was delivered, I nipped to Tesco and looked at the summer clothes. I bought a pair of shorts, a swim suit and a tee shirt. Then home for lunch and a rest. Dgs1 won the 'Janny Cup' again playing football at school and was delighted.
Tonight I'm having boeuf bourgignone and roast potatoes for dinner. Then a quiet evening ahead. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners

Jaxjacky Wed 11-Jun-25 19:00:23

Glorious evening, MrJ has just watered outside, we’re forecast to miss most of the decent rain in the next couple of days.
Phone jobs today, booking a cream tea (won the voucher) for my daughter’s birthday next month and sorting on the sat nav on my car, the latter not achieved yet.
Lovely Blossoming hope you’ve seen the sea too corner, back to my pasta sauce - herbs and garlic from the garden she says smugly 🙂

Redcar Wed 11-Jun-25 20:30:45

Beautiful afternoon here after a grey and windy morning. I walked to the postbox to post another birthday card, 2700 steps, and my legs ached a bit afterwards. I’ll have to try to walk more frequently to get the legs used to walking again. I pulled up a few weeds and chopped back some brambles. I’m fairly sure that some of my pots are infested with vine weevil larvae as some of the plants are looking sickly! I’ ve ordered some vine weevil killer from the big on line shop and will go on the attack when it arrives.
llfl your pottery class sounds good, I wish my hands and wrists were strong enough to have a go at it.
blossoming well done for the sea front walk, I’m jealous!
Have a pleasant evening everyone, night night!

Allira Wed 11-Jun-25 20:40:11

The weather was lovely here too and we managed to do some gardening with the help of DD - well she did most of it!
This afternoon it was too warm to do much so spent a lazy afternoon reading etc.
Haven't seen the spending review yet.

I hope you're feeling better, Blossoming.

Now looking forward to the last episode of Race Across the World. 🌏

Nannytopsy Wed 11-Jun-25 22:07:37

What a busy kitchen! I have washed and hung out, then did some weeding while DH cut the grass (I can’t call it a lawn!).
Then the gardener came and carried on the good work while I baked chocolate cake and scones for the charity cafe tomorrow.
Then it was a WI visit to a garden, with cake and Pimms ! My kind of garden 🤣
I hope all is well with the soops ad the FGTs.

brook2704 Wed 11-Jun-25 22:28:27

DGD has just gone to bed - she’s still not outgrown her delaying tactics and winds me round her little finger 🤣 DH is nodding off on the sofa but I still need some wind down time before bed
One of our clematis in the garden has succumbed to clematis wilt again, it seems to happen every year to this particular plant. It’s a shame as it had some nice big buds on ready for flowering. We’re going to dig it up and move it to see if that helps
Afternoon tea sounds lovely Jax something to look forward to
Well done with the holiday clothes shopping Grandmabatty
Cake and Pimms - lovely nannytopsy and just the right weather
Take care all, especially those in the quiet corner x
