Hello kitchen people.

I was hoping to have a chin wax today. I had an appointment but the beautician didn’t turn up. The receptionist tried ringing her and I sent her a text, but to no avail. So I went home, found my tweezers and got plucking!.

Later, OH and I went to the local history society talk on the Civil War in Oxford. It was excellent.

Sleep 💤 tight.

All best wishes to FGT2 and Himself at this difficult time. flowers

Good afternoon all.
It is dull and very windy here today but rather warm.
Yesterday was very hot, I went to see a friend and sat in her garden for over two hours, we were under an umbrella but it was too much for me and when I got home I had to go and lie on my bed, I had a headache and felt sick.
I shall never learn.
I got up about 7pm and had a bit of salad and a cup of tea.
No chance of a repeat today.

On Tuesday morning I had a phone call from an unknown number, they left no message so I ignored it,
Later I went for my much delayed Covid jab.
The Pharmacist said they had no vaccine and that he had rung me “ several times”.
I said he had not and why didn’t he leave a message, he just shrugged and said he would be InTouch when supplies arrived.
I was very cross and called at my GP practice who made me an appointment for tomorrow.
I believe early next week is the last chance for the spring jab.

I send kindest thoughts to those who need them.
You are thought of often.
Take care everyone.

Good afternoon dear Kitcheners. My clicky jaw is on the mend, I’m off the painkillers for which I am very grateful as they make me feel so woozy. We went out for a local walk after a quick breakfast of banana and a yogurt. It was a sunny morning with just the right amount of breeze, it’s turned cloudy and a bit muggy this afternoon.

Sending positive vibes to SueD, FGT2 and their loved ones. Hope the Soops are doing well too.

Apologies if I have missed anyone’s news ♥️. I’m ready for a nap now!

Blossoming Thu 12-Jun-25 14:55:06

Nearly forgot! Grandmabatty hope all goes well with your second cataract surgery tomorrow 🌹

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a very warm and sunny day up here in Inverness- so beautiful when it’s like this! I went to an aerobics class at the gym this morning and then coffee with my pal, it was good to catch up
I hope you've had a better day today uttb, so frustrating about the vaccine, I hope you get it done tomorrow with no bother
Good that you’re getting out and about a bit more Blossoming and off the painkillers, well done

Hoping everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok, love to all take care x

A quick Hello 👋 from the quiet corner to all you lovely Kitchen people.

I've been sorting through some DH's things, I'll see the family for Father's day, another 'first' 😢, so I've freshened up DH's collection of Christmas jumpers in case the boys want to keep some. If not, I may have them made into cushions, I hear that's a thing for loved ones' clothes, especially those with precious memories. I've gone down a rabbit hole...

Blossoming, I'm glad you're feeling better now and off the pain killers. ITIKWYM, I've been on Cocodamol and Gabapentin since Easter for muscle and nerve pain in my shoulder and arm, saw the GP this a.m. as she's been monitoring my reduction of Cc, I'm glad to be getting it out of my system. I feel it has affected my grieving, strange days.

Hello 👋 Grandmabatty, you've been so busy preparing ahead for the after effects of your cataract operation. Very best wishes for tomorrow, then put your feet up and enjoy the rest!

I laughed about your DGD'S delaying tactics, I remember that stage well! I hope your DGS is having a great time at his residential trip. They have some wonderful experiences, that's when our DGS was first introduced to a kayak, now their whole family have kayaks and paddle boards.

Thinking of the Soops, FGTs, SueD and family, and all with illness, worries or sorrow. 🕯🙏🕯

TOYA🥰

Sorry, my second last paragraph was for brook.

Grandmabatty Thu 12-Jun-25 17:35:10

Good evening Kitcheners. Thank you ladies. I gave a small ironing to do and the dishwasher to empty and that should be me organised. Grannmarie all these first. A hard one , this one. 💐 Blossoming it sounds like you are on the mend.
Today was busy. I stripped the bed and washed and hung out the sheets etc. Then emptied and loaded the dishwasher and switched it on. Then a quick hour in the school library. I picked up my repeat prescription and headed home in time for the Tesco delivery. This afternoon I visited a friend for a couple of hours. Shortly I'll empty the dishwasher and iron the bedding. Dinner will be ham salad and chips. UTBB how annoying for you! I hope you get it tomorrow.
Take care all

Jaxjacky Thu 12-Jun-25 18:56:46

Evening, well that was irritating utbb, leaving a message isn’t hard.
Small steps Grannmarie you’re doing well on a lot of fronts, including drug reduction.
Good news Blossoming, I thought of you today at the hygienist, I can’t fully open my mouth as it has locked before.
Full ahead for tomorrow Grandmabatty I hope you’re seen promptly, then home and feet up.
Hygienist this morning, funeral this afternoon, our friend’s husband, he was 55, no age at all, I'm now having a glass of, wine, your good health kitcheners, particularly the quiet corner 🥂

Yiayia4 Thu 12-Jun-25 19:00:59

Thinking of you Granmabatty all good wishes for tomorrow.
Grannmarie lots of hugs🌻
SueD 💐

Today I had the echocardiogram.I was very anxious, wimp that I am! I had a young doctor who never said a word.At the end he got his consultant to check,by this time my stress level was mega. She checked and said your so stressed why,it’s all ok.😂
Will get the report soon but feeling much calmer this evening.

Is there any news of FGT?
Thinking of you all.

Grandmabatty Thu 12-Jun-25 19:24:21

Yiayia that's good news. Very stressful for you though. Jaxjacky 55 is so young, isn't it?

Usedtobeblonde Thu 12-Jun-25 19:30:26

All good wishes for tomorrow Grandmabatty
I have cataracts in both eyes but optometrist said she is not recommending me for surgery yet.
I have AMD in both eyes, very little sight in my left eye affected by the wet type so she doesn’t think it will be any better and dry in my right eye which is being monitored every six months.
I hope yours makes a huge difference to you.

Redcar Thu 12-Jun-25 19:31:29

Hello everyone. grandmabatty I hope your second cataract operation goes smoothly.
yiayia a relief that your echocardiogram was ok, a shame that the young doctor wasn’t able to put you at ease.
I’ve been at a 100th birthday lunch for my godmother who is also a cousin of my late mum’s. My sister in law and I have always organised my godmother’s milestone birthday parties in the past, but fortunately were relieved of that duty this year. There were 95 guests for a three course lunch in a marquee in the garden! It was a very happy occasion, the birthday girl was delighted to see my niece who had come over from Australia for the party! It was warm and sunny with a light shower as forecast at 2.00!
Good to see many old friends but sad to see how we’ve all aged!
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

TillyTrotter Thu 12-Jun-25 19:35:45

All best wishes to you tomorrow Grandmabatty 👋 You will soon have the sharper sight of a youngster (and notice all the dust that appears by magic in our homes).
Some doctors don’t have the knack to put you at ease do they Yiayia? but he’s probably very thorough at his job.
Grannarie 💐
You may not have noticed me but I sit beside you in the quiet corner.
We have had heavy prolonged rain today so all the grans who are nurturing young plants in their gardens will be pleased.
Isn’t this week speeding by?
Thinking especially of the soops and FGT’s who have more health worries ahead.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 12-Jun-25 19:36:40

What a lovely occasion Redcar
My mother achieved 100 years,101 actually, she was in a residential home by then but we gave her a lovely party, the staff at the home pulled out all the stops as she was the first in the small group of homes to reach 100.
The residents were delighted and as many family as we could get together were there.
My mother made a lovely speech as she was very “ with it” until she died of old age.

GrandmaC47 Thu 12-Jun-25 19:50:36

Best wishes for tomorrow Grandmabatty

Blossoming Thu 12-Jun-25 20:01:11

Granmarie yes, that sounds right. 3 days was more than enough for me. Your emotions must be all over the place at the moment, I hope you can enjoy time with your family this weekend. Bittersweet memories flowers

Thank you all for your kind wishes, I am luckier than many people. I just keep on keeping on smile

Scapa1 Thu 12-Jun-25 20:25:07

Just popping in from the quiet corner to wish Grandmabatty good wishes for tomorrow. Also thinking of all those struggling for whatever reason. We are fine just tootling along which I feel is good.

GrannySomerset Thu 12-Jun-25 20:32:10

Good wishes for tomorrow, Grandmabatty, you will be the scourge of your acquaintances with your dust spotting expertise (it was only after my first cataract removal that I realised that my Wonderful Cleaner didn’t see anything above her eye level).

kittylester Thu 12-Jun-25 21:01:06

Just popping in to send very best wishes to GBatty.

Grandmabatty Thu 12-Jun-25 21:15:05

Thank you all, you wonderful lot of ladies! Grannysomerset I can spot marks everywhere! And that's with one good eye.

Grannmarie Thu 12-Jun-25 21:35:22

Hello 👋 again, lovely Kitchen people! Thank you all so much for your kind wishes, much appreciated.

Ladyleftfieldlover, I always enjoy reading about your interesting outings.

Jaxjacky, a sad afternoon for you and your DH. Thank you for your toast, 🥂 , you've tempted me to join you in a nice chilled glass of PG ( not tips!!🤣) whilst I watch my latest distraction, 1883. Unlike anything else on 📺 at the moment, it's the story of a wagon train on the way to Oregon. A good old fashioned cowboy series for the 21st century, DH would have enjoyed it.

YiaYia, I'm glad you're feel calmer now after a worrying time for you at the hospital. Good to be reassured that all is well.

Redcar and Uttb, how wonderful that you both have dear ladies in your close family who have reached their 100th birthdays, you must have longevity in your genes!

👋 Hello, Tilly, thank you for keeping company in the quiet corner.

Hello 👋 GrandmaC47, nice to see you again.

I'm so glad that I found this special place with all you lovely kind people. NNGB.

Redcar Thu 12-Jun-25 21:43:28

utbb my godmother still lives alone at home & is very with-it! I think she’s going to need carers soon and I think I’m going to have to be the one to tell her! Her mum was almost 102 when she died, definitely good genes in that part of the family.
