Welcome! Please make yourselves comfortable. I thank you all for your patience and support throughout the times that we've shared. flowers

Good afternoon/ evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! Hello 👋 and welcome to sickofweddingcake, hope your back and knees are improving now.

Cornergran, thinking of you. Hope you and MrC can enjoy a few sea front strolls, let the fresh breeze blow those troubles away .

Blossoming, I'm glad to hear that you are feeling more like yourself. Thinking of you and MrB.

I hope the brooks are enjoying some holiday sunshine ☀ Please bring a little ☀ back with you!

Happy new car 🚙 Jaxjacky! Hope you both enjoy driving it. The boys are trying to persuade me to buy a newer car, my wee Jazz has had a few big bills this past year. I'm very attached to it, I'll be very sorry to let it go. But it's old and falling to pieces, a bit like me...

Grandmabatty, motorway driving, well done! Sounds like a great day out in Stirling with your DS.

I have dozed most of this dull afternoon, after a couple of busy days. Friday was my first full day of childcare with the Wee Boy, without DH.

Yesterday was another first as the whole family gathered to celebrate DS1's and DGD's recent birthdays with a super house/ garden party, in between the showers. DS3 drove, I usually drove DH and myself. My sisters and brother were there, also DDIL1's family. The Wee Boy had a great time with his cousins, their cousins and two dogs! Many photos were taken and exchanged on WhatsApp later. I have a great one of me with my three grandchildren, that's a keeper. It was lovely to see everyone at a happy occasion, just so strange without DH.

Savoury steak mince with carrot, onions and Jersey Royals for dinner, followed by yoghurt and pomegranate seeds. I'll make a pot of lentil soup for tomorrow. Not sure what I'll watch on 📺 tonight, any suggestions?

Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday evening and a good night's sleep. Thinking of our Soops, FGTs and all with illness, worries or sorrow. TOYA

Thank you Grannmarie, the family party sounds lovely.

Jaxjacky Sun 06-Jul-25 18:51:09

Hi all kitchens and a welcome to Sickofweddingcake is there a story there?
I meant to say, well done Blossoming walking over the bridge, I fell in a canal years ago doing that, not clever, im glad you’re feeling better.
Great trip out Grandmabatty lovely company, you too Grannmarie, an embracing family meet up, precious.
I hope corner is feeling a little brighter, as always big hugs to FGT and himself. I also wonder how the soops are doing, well I hope.
A usual quite Sunday, we did have some thunder and heavy rain, for all of ten minutes, not enough, then won some proper bacon in the meat draw.
Roast chicken, the last few garden potatoes, broccoli and carrots for dinner.

Blossoming Sun 06-Jul-25 19:38:45

Thanks Jax, I felt so good afterwards. It was a big win for me.

Redcar Sun 06-Jul-25 19:43:06

grannmarie that sounds a lovely family get together, but sad without your DH. My DDs are trying to persuade me to get a newer car, but my old Fiesta is well cared for and has a low mileage for its’ age - and I’m used to it!
charleygirl watering the garden with the hose last night worked! We’ve had some heavy showers this afternoon with hope for more to come overnight! At least I won’t have to water tonight!

Good evening everyone. I usually lurk, but am being brave and posting a little more on here. Ive had a lovely day with a long dog walk with a friend, I did get rained on a little bit it was still lovely. We watched an old James bond movie this afternoon and had an evening meal of chicken and chips. I have a new jigsaw to start tomorrow and my friend gave me a gift of face masks and pamper things so I may use them tomorrow. Hope you are all having a lovely evening.

Blossoming Sun 06-Jul-25 20:14:27

Hello Clare, what a lovely way to spend Sunday.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 06-Jul-25 20:20:00

Hello kitchen people - especially to the soops and the FGT2S.

Elder son and granddaughter have gone back to Kew. It was a good visit. Son is back tomorrow evening as he has insisted on driving us to Heathrow early on Tuesday morning for our flight.

My cousin has been clearing out her parent’s house and sent me a multitude of photos - mainly black and white. There was one with my father - he is perched on his motorcycle and I’m in the sidecar. Another of my grandfather with the lawnmower he made himself from things in his shed. It was electric too.

I have so many photo albums and slides, they are all dated and captioned but will my three children want them?

Have a good evening.

Charleygirl5 Sun 06-Jul-25 22:37:01

Redcar please can you explain what the word shower means? It has been so dry here for ages; I am amazed there isn't a water ban of some description. Still, with so many houses with metered water, we are doing the job ourselves.

Please may I borrow an 8 year old for a couple of hours to help me with my computer and smartphone problems? The closest help is at St. Leonards near Hastings whereas I live in London.

Nannytopsy Mon 07-Jul-25 09:41:05

Oh dear Charleygirl5! I’m afraid our 8 year old fell off the monkey bars in the park on Friday evening and broke her arm, so she can’t come and help.
My plea is for someone to sort out teachers pensions! I stopped teaching 6 years ago and now they want a re- employment form!
I hope all’s well in the quiet corner. It’s cooler and breezy here, after some welcome rain. Weeding this morning I think, while the soil is moist.

Charleygirl5 Mon 07-Jul-25 11:07:27

Nannytopsy it may be a match made in heaven because with my background, I could take great care of the fractured arm. Please instruct her to remove her arm from the sling a few times a day and gently bend and straighten the arm.

I have never known a child to end up with a fixed flexion deformity, but we do not want a first in your family.

Hello everybody. I’m allowed back after my four week suspension. I was banned but GNHQ kindly reviewed my case and mitigated my punishment.

Oh I cannot tell you how very grateful I am to be here. To tell you all properly, in person, just how bluddy wonderful you all are. Your uplifting messages of support and kindness that I’ve read during my suspension have brought me to tears on occasion.

We are going through the eye of the storm at present. Himself as always is incredibly brave - as I imagine most cancer sufferers are. This hell on earth.

He is on strong morphine. He started oral chemotherapy on Friday just gone. Two weeks on then two weeks off. It’s tough to witness but worse still for him. But as Captain Tom reminded us “tomorrow will be a better day”. 🤞
I cling to that hope with all my heart.

You will realise that life is rather challenging just now. I will post as often as my emotions allow but please be assured, I do read when I can to try and keep up with you all.

Once again, a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart. I’ve missed you all so very much. xx

Charleygirl5 Mon 07-Jul-25 15:21:12

I could not believe it when I saw your name. Welcome home, you have been sorely missed.

My heart goes out to Himself, that must be hell on earth he is going through at present.

Look after yourselves.

Grannydaisy1 Mon 07-Jul-25 15:23:26

Fgt2. You have been sorely missed. It's lovely to hear from you. Best wishes to you and himself

Susan56 Mon 07-Jul-25 15:31:47

Wonderful to see you back FGT.Sending love and strength and all good wishes to you and himself.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 07-Jul-25 15:38:53

Wonderful to see you back FGT2! Hopefully you and your OH’s storm will be weathered and all will be well🪻

A very quick visit to the kitchen as OH and I are packing for our river cruise tomorrow and I haven’t popped over to see my neighbour yet with a key - she is feeding the cats. Elder son is driving over from Kew later to stay the night. He insists on taking us to the airport at the crack of dawn.

Yiayia4 Mon 07-Jul-25 15:43:46

Lovely to have you back.Love and prayers to you both.X

Nannytopsy Mon 07-Jul-25 16:14:53

Lovely to have you both back FGTs!
Hoping the treatment is successful and relieves himself’s symptoms!
She’s in a back slab plaster at the moment Charleygirl, having broken both bones above the elbow but thankfully avoided growth plates!

Charleygirl5 Mon 07-Jul-25 16:21:04

Nannytopsy the poor girl, because that must be painful, and she has experienced a lot of trauma at her young age.

I promise to take extra special care of her!!!

Yiayia4 Mon 07-Jul-25 16:24:57

Happy Birthday Blossoming 🎂🎉🎁🎈🍹

Beechnut Mon 07-Jul-25 16:34:19

FGT it’s been a very long four weeks without you. A very warm (hot actually 😂) welcome back to you and himself. Every good wish for himself’s treatment and for you, especially on the emotional side 💐

spottybook Mon 07-Jul-25 16:39:48

Just popping out of the quiet corner to say welcome back FGT2. Sending thoughts to you and Himself.

SueDonim Mon 07-Jul-25 16:58:35

FGT! So good to see you back where you belong. 🥰 Sending vibes to MrFGT for his treatment - I’ve been thinking of you both. Xx

No more for now, as I’ve been felled by Covid since Thursday. Not everyone has tested but we think ten out of the sixteen of us have had Covid over the past week. 😭 Dh has it now which has been concerning, though I think he’s brighter today.

GrannyIvy Mon 07-Jul-25 17:10:53

I don’t normally post on here but popping in to say how lovely to see FGT back posting again. Life most certainly must be so very challenging for you and himself and sending strength and love to you both and your family.

Just also wanted to say Happy Birthday to Blossoming 🎂🤞🥳

Also love and support to many others who are struggling on this thread. Take good care of yourselves 💕

Thorntrees Mon 07-Jul-25 17:23:39
