Cornergran flowers. I am lurking in the quiet corner at the moment but I’m still watching out for everyone ♥️

brook2704 Fri 04-Jul-25 22:17:25

Oh corner I’m so sorry to hear you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed - I hope things improve for you soon, sending hugs ❤️
FGT if you’re reading, thinking of you both
Blossoming, Soop and everyone in the quiet corner, thank you for just being there

Hello kitchen people.

I’m in bed listening to very loud barking from a few houses away. Grim.

OH was hoping to take off lots of honey today. When he got to his hives a Queen had managed to get to the honey stores and laid lots of eggs. He’s not sure what to do now.

Commiserations to those of you in the quiet corner. I hope all is well with the FGT2S.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Nannytopsy Fri 04-Jul-25 23:38:59

Oh dear LLFL - we have lots of bee keepers round here. All our friends have hives. I hope he gets sorted soon.

Grran Sat 05-Jul-25 07:31:52

Cornergran, there’s always room in the quiet corner. We are plumping the cushions for you and the tea is made.
I don’t know what your mistake was on another thread because I rarely dip my head out of this safe kitchen nowadays.

Sending everyone love 🥰

Corner hope you are feeling a bit more like your normal self.

The quiet corner is a lovely soothing place to be and, obviously, named in your honour.

Grandmabatty Sat 05-Jul-25 07:50:37

Cornergran I missed your post. Real life can be a bugger at times, can't it? Fingers crossed things settle down for you

Redcar Sat 05-Jul-25 10:22:07

grran and corner I do read some other threads but rarely post on them because I don’t feel safe doing so! I hope the quiet corner is comfortable and comforting!

Naughtyneine Sat 05-Jul-25 11:24:01

I'm with you Redcar, grran and Corner way too scared to post on other threads ( apart from my lovely Lobster thread) it doesn't seem to matter what the subject or however light-hearted it might seem but tensions arise along the way. Once bitten etc...

Charleygirl5 Sat 05-Jul-25 11:37:14

Sorry I am a tad late but that was a wedding made in heaven, being perfect. The photo is also something to be cherished. I pity you did not meet x years ago.

Please look after that lovely man.

corner Try to forget whatever happened in another thread. Go with Mr C for a walk along the seafront and enjoy a coffee outside, if it is not raining there.

I am about to hang out washing, so that should bring the threatened rain sooner.

Redcar Sat 05-Jul-25 15:00:59

charleygirl I did my best to make it rain earlier by putting sheets out to dry, but was unsuccessful! I’ve just connected the hosepipe to the tap, and that may work. Of course I could wash the car, that’s guaranteed to make it rain!!
Although it’s very windy, it’s quite mild - 21 degrees - and I feel I should be doing something constructive instead of watching Wimbledon!

Jaxjacky Sat 05-Jul-25 19:26:19

Hi all, we had about ten minutes of rain this morning, it soon evaporated, heading for 30 again next weekend!!!
I hope Mrlfl has sorted his bee conundrum, it sounds tricky and a specialist problem.
corner you’ll find solace in the quiet corner and I hope for once you’ve had a decent nights sleep.
Usual Saturday here, paper, a little gardening, just pottering really and we’ve bought a car. Replacing MrJ’s which is a guzzler and high insurance, not by any means a new car, a runaround.
I’m thinking of those who pop in and out, some in the quiet corner and some absent, having a really hard time, 🥰.

Charleygirl5 Sat 05-Jul-25 19:47:58

Redcar I managed to hang half of the load, and I felt and saw spits. I took the remainder indoors and left the rest out. I made myself a cup of coffee, and it stopped. I hung the rest out, and eventually, the clothes dried.

Tomorrow should remain dry as I have no more washing to do.

Redcar Sat 05-Jul-25 20:00:00

charleygirl my sheets dried ok, despite one or two spots of rain. I set the hose up and watered the dying bits of the garden, again just one or two spots of rain. We have showers forecast for tomorrow, fingers crossed we actually get some proper rain.

My DD2 and her family came this afternoon, the littlest had been to a birthday party and told me about it (with a bit of prompting from her mum). Her OH looked at my hose and outside tap and muttered about how long a new porous hosepipe would need to be. No decision made, but he may turn up next week with all the necessary items!
Have a peaceful evening everyone.

Blossoming Sat 05-Jul-25 20:08:48

Good evening all. It’s been a quiet day here after yesterday’s busy day. We had our usual walk down to the dock gates, no bridge adventure today. We’re saving that for tomorrow. Watching steam trains this afternoon. The antibiotics are doing their job and I’m feeling better. Hope everyone has a lovely evening x

Georgesgran Sat 05-Jul-25 20:17:12

Sitting outside with a glass of red after watering some pots and tubs. Feels like rain, but no
guarantee.
A peaceful night to everyone, X

Grandmabatty Sat 05-Jul-25 20:48:52

Good evening Kitcheners. I had a good time with the boys earlier, however we had no water for a while and, although it's back on, it's brown and foul. Lots of dirt etc despite running it for half an hour. So annoying. Dsil brought me six big bottles so at least I can drink, but no showers or dishwasher etc unless it has cleared by the morning. Very annoying. I hope everyone is well

brook2704 Sat 05-Jul-25 21:16:45

Good evening kitchen pals, we’re in Manchester and just back at our hotel after a lovely meal out with DHs youngest son and family. All is well and it was good to catch up with everyone. Our journey down by train was busy but everything on time. We’re meeting up with a different son in the morning and then off to the airport in the afternoon.
Happy new car Jax always nice to have
Hope the water problem is sorted soon grandmbatty
Pleased to hear you’re feeling a bit better Blossoming
Love to all in the quiet corner, take care all x

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 05-Jul-25 22:39:25

Hello kitchen people.

It is lovely seeing elder son and granddaughter. Not son’s partner as she’s working. Don’t they shoot up? I saw granddaughter just four weeks ago and it looks though she has gone up another inch or more. Still very skinny although she eats like a horse.

Sleep 💤 tight everyone.

Nannytopsy Sun 06-Jul-25 14:16:33

LLFL we saw our two littlest yesterday and they have shot up in the last 3 weeks. Littlest is walking very happily now and has lots of words, if you can translate!
Wimbledon is on, ironing about to start. We have had a bit of rain but still waiting for the thunderstorms.

Sickofweddingcake Sun 06-Jul-25 14:37:28

Hi everybody; I don't think that I have visited in here before.
I am just home from having 3 glorious weeks walking in Devon and Cornwall...cut short by back and knee problems.
Ah well: I still feel so blessed spending time away from home.
I hope that your day is going well. X

Nannytopsy Sun 06-Jul-25 14:39:43

Welcome Sickofweddingcake - glad you enjoyed your visit to the southwest.

Redcar Sun 06-Jul-25 15:22:37

Welcome sickofweddingcake, shame your holiday had to curtailed and hope the back and knee problems improve soon.
I’ve had a fairly busy day so far, trying to make the most of reduced rate of electricity at lunchtime, by baking a cake and cooking a sauce to have with pasta later, with some to freeze too.
I also had to sit with my dementia friend for an hour.
We had a couple of heavy showers, but the main water butt isn’t filling up as it should so I’m trying to think how to find and clear where it’s blocked! I’m trying to think like my late DH, who would have come up with some complicated solution to the problem!

Enjoy the rest of the day folks.

Grandmabatty Sun 06-Jul-25 16:30:10

A welcome to sickofweddingcake to one of the nicest threads. It's a shame about your holiday. Redcar it started off dry here but the rain has been persistent this afternoon.
I drove on the motorway for the first time since I had my cataracts done. I went to Stirling and picked up ds to go to an art exhibition held by my art tutor at her house. We were first there and had a good look round. I have bought a lovely nude drawing and I'll collect it after my holiday. Then ds and I walked to a lovely park in Stirling which has a really nice café. I had a fruit scone and he had a fried egg on a roll, sitting out under their huge pergola. After that, I came home and did some housework. The water situation has sorted itself out so I cleaned the bathroom thoroughly. Then emptied and loaded the dishwasher. Then ironed some clothes. I've roasted a gammon tin waiting on clothes drying then I'll finish the ironing. Dinner tonight will be gammon, new potatoes and tenderstem broccoli followed by berries and ice cream. Then up early tomorrow for the boys. I'm thinking about Corner and I hope she's feeling better. Also my thoughts are with FGT and her dear man. Enjoy the rest of Sunday everyone

Blossoming Sun 06-Jul-25 17:29:23

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Another quiet day here, our usual walk down to the dock gates but we couldn’t use the footbridge as the lock gates were open. We’ll save that for later in the week. Welcome to this cosy and welcoming kitchen sickofweddingcake.
