I didn’t make it yesterday either! It was our WI summer supper, in one lady’s garden. The committee prepared a buffet which was well received but by the time I got home I was “jiggered” to use an old fashioned word. Standing to cook for any length of time doesn’t suit my hip at all.
Redcar we have a similar problem. Our kitchen faces south, with 4 patio doors looking onto a stone patio. In the winter the room is quite warm but in the summer it gets very hot - over 30C recently. We are wondering about an awning which can be wound out when needed. Does anyone have any experience with them?
Lot to everyone in the quiet corner and to the poorly ones too.
I have an awning. My flat looks out over the Channel and can get very hot. The awning makes a lot of difference. I bought mine from a brilliant curtain shop that I have used since 1966! They are very good.
I bought an electric awning. That means, instead of winding the awning in and out by hand, (quite difficult if you are older or not very strong), I just press a button on the handset I was provided with and it goes in and out with no problem. I love my awning and can strongly recommend it, but make sure you buy from a reputable curtain shop. I, personally, would not trust buying one online from someone I don’t know and who I might not be able to find if anything goes wrong.
I live in East Kent. If you would like to know the details of the shop I bought from, please pm me.
