Oh Cornergran! That sounds so frustrating. You couldn’t make it up could you?
🤗 needed and ☕️ I think

Jaxjacky Fri 30-May-25 12:55:27

Lots of expletives cornergran and how incompetent.

GrannySomerset Fri 30-May-25 13:07:33

How infuriating, Cornergran. It would be so nice if everyone did their job properly - like my infuriating kitchen tap. Hope you have rcovered for now

cornergran Fri 30-May-25 13:14:26

Cake has helped 😂

Redcar Fri 30-May-25 14:30:25

cornergran how frustrating for you, and how annoying that the surveyor didn’t pick up the problem with the pipes.

I was talking to a friend this morning who had had a blue badge assessment about 6 weeks ago, and hers was nothing like the grilling I had yesterday. The council have outsourced the assessments, but hers may have been done in house.

I had a good walk this morning, twice round the recreation ground! Have watered some of the pots, but I’m now having a rest as I’m going out later - bingo in the village hall, hope I win something this time!

Yiayia4 Fri 30-May-25 16:42:27

Good afternoon Everyone. We arrived home a few hours ago.We have had a great time in our wonderful corfu and DH has managed very well.
Unfortunately he had a letter waiting for him to say he can’t have the prostrate operation!!Its too much of a risk so will have to continue with the catheter. Its not the end of the world and he copes very well but not what we wanted to hear.Oh well onwards and upwards first washing load in.

I need to catch up with all your news and in the meantime sending hugs to you all.

Will leave you with a few last photos.

Grandmabatty Fri 30-May-25 17:14:21

Oh Yiayia that's a blow for him. Your photos are wonderful.
I was with dd at dgs1's school for a family picnic. There were lots of parents and grandparents there and donations are for a local children's hospice. The rain stayed away and the weather wasn't too warm or breezy. Just perfect in fact. Dgs1 appeared briefly then vanished to play. Dgs2 found his little pals and they ran about. It was a success. Dd had made brownies and I've brought one home for tomorrow.
This afternoon I've rested my unhappy feet and read. Tonight's dinner is chicken curry and I might clean windows later once the sun is off them. I'm currently watching an old Doctor Who starring Jon Pertwee. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Grandmabatty Fri 30-May-25 17:16:00

Cornergran I meant to comment on your post. What a nuisance for you! I hope it can be resolved. Missing Soop and Grannmarie.

Nannytopsy Fri 30-May-25 17:16:50

Corner I feel your pain! You must be spitting feathers!
Lovely photos Yiayia - we have been to Kos but once my hip has been done, we are keen to visit other parts of Greece. (And Italy, Norway, more of Spain and France … 🤣)
Our lovely neighbour is helping DH to repair a section of our fence. Well to be honest , the neighbour is doing it while DH stands there looking useful.
Hope everyone has a good evening

GrannyGravy13 Fri 30-May-25 17:25:09

I have started to sort out my clothes for our upcoming holiday, I get loads out then gradually cull them to want I want to take.

Need to get ready to go out to dinner (local Indian restaurant), DH is prowling, his signal for me to hurry up

🙋‍♀️

brook2704 Fri 30-May-25 17:26:22

Oh corner how frustrating!! I’m pleased to hear that the cake helped though, always good in a crisis 👍

Welcome home Yia and thanks for the beautiful sunset pictures. Sorry to hear your DH can’t have his operation, hoping it doesn’t impact too much and he can still manage ok, take care

I’ve flopped onto the sofa exhausted after 2 classes at the gym, a walk into town, the bus home, mowed the lawn then put a quick salad together for later. That’s me done for today I think …
Oh just a minute, DH has just said that it’s started raining so he’s offered to get my washing in, even though most of the things on the line are his…

cornergran Fri 30-May-25 17:27:38

Cake, a visit to a garden centre to collect some trousers for Mr C and purchase a rose to put in a tub -somewhere to be determined, there will be room -, half an hour beginning to prune (massacre!) the forsythia and equilibrium is restored.

Thank you all for helping calm me down. Many feathers were spat out 😂

cornergran Fri 30-May-25 17:28:46

Beautiful photos yia, very soothing.

brook2704 Fri 30-May-25 17:28:50

Enjoy your evening GG13 😀

Resting your feet sounds good grandmabatty

nannytopsy 🤣

Jaxjacky Fri 30-May-25 19:17:29

Hi all, what stunning pictures Yia I'm pleased you had a lovely time and your husband too.
Sounds delightful Grandmabatty lucky with the British weather, I'm sorry, I must have missed what’s wrong with your feet, it sounds very frustrating.
Enjoy your dinner GrannyGravy my kind of meal.
I had stretch class this morning, then went for a walk, Tesco delivered and earlier we were in the local. As I sit here I can hear the young children playing in the road, the street party a few weeks ago meant neighbours got to know each other better, it’s lovely.
My live in chef is cooking sausages, preparing dinner, one dish he cooks with aplomb! He clears up too ❤️

Blossoming Fri 30-May-25 19:28:48

Hello kitchen Friends smile. How very frustrating Cornergran, glad the cake helped. Love your photos Yia. Hope your eyes are recovering and your feet as well Grandmabatty. Brook it always used to make me giggle when MrB said he’d put the bins out for me. I don’t know how it came to be my job and I’m sure most of the rubbish was his anyway. He has to do all those things that I used to do now.

It’s been a lovely sunny day here with quite a chill wind. We went to Morrisons to collect a prescription and then went for a stroll down to the Bullnose. We spotted these mallards soaking up some sun on the dockside.

Goodnight all, sleep tight.

Grandmabatty Fri 30-May-25 19:28:48

Jaxjacky I am diabetic and have peripheral neuropathy which means almost constant nerve pain in my feet. Sometimes it is better but think of it like toothache in your feet! I try not to complain about it because it is self inflicted but the pain has been unbearable these last few days.

Redcar Fri 30-May-25 22:11:34

brook when he was retired and I was still working my DH sometimes would announce that he’d done my ironing for me! A lot of it was his!
Night night everyone, sleep well.

Jaxjacky Fri 30-May-25 22:12:36

Thank you for explaining Grandmabatty it sounds unbearable, I feel for you.

Grandmabatty Fri 30-May-25 22:53:13

Thank you Jaxjacky. It's self inflicted so I shouldn't complain! I'm feeling a bit better now. Painkillers help. I'm watching The Highwaymen, a super group consisting of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash. Only Willie Nelson is still here. 😥

Grannmarie Fri 30-May-25 23:36:58

Hello 👋 Soop and lovely Kitchen people!

Apologies for being AWOL, I've been struggling a bit lately, one way and another, been close to tears quite a bit this week, not been up to posting. Poor DS3 said he was caught unawares by Father's Day cards in the shops, the boys are being so strong and doing lots for me, but they're grieving too.

I'm popping in to catch up on all your news, hoping the Soops are having a wonderful family get together, thinking of FGTs and all with illness, worries or sorrow. Hope the painkillers help, Grandmabatty, hope your back is much better Jaxjacky, gorgeous photos YiaYia and Blossoming!
You must have walked a million steps today brook, you'll sleep tonight. Thank goodness for cake, Cornergran.
TOYA, apologies if I haven't mentioned you by name but I have read all your posts now and I'm thinking of you all. NNGB

Nannytopsy Sat 31-May-25 00:22:03

Hi Grannmarie. We are always here for you to mop your tears. I am glad your boys are there to support you and each other I hope.

Grannmarie Sat 31-May-25 12:09:13

Thank you, Nannytopsy. Hope you and yours are all doing OK. 🥰

I'm off for a gentle walk in the park with my sisters. 🚶 🚶 🚶

Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend, TOYA.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 31-May-25 13:32:29

Good afternoon all from a dull but warm Stockport.
The sun has been out but clouds have taken over.

Grannmarie it is very early days for you and your family.
Be kind to yourself and brave the waves.

I am off to a friend’s tonight for a Chinese takeaway.
We try to meet regularly but it’s been about two months so lots to catch up on.

My S who is a keen gardener when he is well is tackling my garden and doing a good job, I am very grateful and pleased.
The four spindly tomatoes are the runt of the crop so don’t be too hard on them.
The border is more colourful than it looks.

Have the best day possible to you today, not always easy I know.

Usedtobeblonde Sat 31-May-25 13:33:37

I will try again
