Shouting at the telly

This morning an exhibitor at Chelsea was talking about people leaving 'heart rendering' messages on her stand which was to do with funeral flowers.

I shouted so loudly that DH came to see if I was OK.

What makes you shout at the telly.

Good Evening , Kittylester,

No offence but did you mean to type "heart-rending" ?
If not, what is a heart-rendering message , when its at home ?
Odd that people would leave personal messages at a commercial flower -seller's stand.
Were they ordering flowers for funerals ?
If not, they all sound barmy to me.

I regularly shout at the telly, particularly if it's a quiz show and some contestant is being stupid. Or a film where I know what's going to happen next

kittylester Thu 22-May-25 18:09:54

No, I didn't mean to type heart rending because what made me shout at the telly was the woman saying 'heart rendering' .

Blossoming Thu 22-May-25 18:49:10

I don’t do the shouting kittylester because MrB shouts enough for both of us [grin*

Gotcha ! Sorry.
FYI , in my defence I have elsewhere said that I don't think there is any such thing as a "stupid" question.🤣🤣🤣.
I don't think any of us would last long if our hearts were
" rendered".
I shout atthe OH.
I shout because of the telly or the radio.
Most of the "woke" stuff provokes an " oh for * sake from me.

I constantly shout at Jeremy Vine and his guests on channel 5 in the morning, he comes out with with some stupid comments. My DH also shouts at him.😂

That one took me a minute; I thought you were being cruel. I wouldn't have picked that up.

DH yells at the tv during sports, but I don't think I have ever yelled at the TV.

My DH shouts at the weather forecasters. He says none of them know what they are talking about. I shout at him because that gets on my nerves!!😤

Usually during music quiz shows, or if something is so ridiculous, I can’t contain myself

Celieanne86 Fri 23-May-25 14:05:25

Sometimes I forget for a nano second that my OH isn’t here now and I regularly shout at the telly and turn towards his chair in a huff to argue about what Ive just seen.
Quizzes are the main thing that wind me up, don’t people learn anything at school any more, and if I hear the comment an educated guess again I had better not have a brick handy to throw.
Watching cricket and arguing with OUT decisions especially LBW is the other main irritant, I even stop and re run the decision again and again, and don’t start me on adverts I could go on all day

ddraig123 Fri 23-May-25 14:09:35

I shout 'Absolute Rubbish!' whenever Owen Jones comes on the TV and spouts his usual tosh. It's either that or throw something at the screen! But I am trying to train myself to just change the channel when he comes on, as it's better for my blood pressure and possibly for the TV screen too!

Moggycuddler Fri 23-May-25 14:40:20

Saying or writing "draws" instead of drawers. And pronouncing drawing as "drawring".

w1u7 Fri 23-May-25 14:48:58

Celieanne86 your comment really made me think. I get so fed up with my husband always shouting at the tv, and then I shout at him. I must develop more patience. xx

Football. I am not a swearer, by nature, but I come out with a few choice expletives watching my beloved footy.

NotSpaghetti Fri 23-May-25 16:08:15

I am with you kittylester - I'm on a bit of a mission with both TV and radio.

Today it was an advert where the actor put the emphasis quote obviously in the wrong place!
My husband agreed - but he just laughed!

Incompetence is very irritating.

The other thing that gets me shouting is when a news item repeats something that has already been proved wrong. Grrr!

F1 when Verstappen is leading & whining about some thing!

I do it all the time, but I live alone so there is nobody to hear, especially shouting out the answers to quizzes. I watch Richard Osman's House of Games and always have the answers before the contestants. I think there must be a delay on their buzzers.

Magenta8 Fri 23-May-25 20:30:43

I never shout at the television, perhaps I should. At least it wouldn't answer back.
