Good morning, it's raining here in Whitehaven, but we need it as the grass has turned brown due to a lack of rain. Managed to get a power walk in before the rain came, so all is good.

Marydoll we love The Chelsea Detective too.
I lived in Pimlico for 18 years so know the area very well. We always salute Churchill Gardens ( where we lived) when we see aerial shots of Chelsea and Albert bridges. It’s a very gentle detective series but great for our reminiscing.BTW I sent you a DM last week!
All quiet here at the moment. I am keeping a low profile as I have been dealing with polymyalgia for the last month.
I heard from my sister in Limerick that my DS’s mother in law died last week ( aged 52). DS hasn’t contacted me in months. It’s so frustrating trying to work out what to do for the best. I don’t want to interfere and I keep thinking that if he wanted me to know he would call. I have been estranged from my daughter since 2006 after disclosing that I was worried about her soon to husband being too controlling. I have taken a back seat with my family ever since, the cost to my mental health was huge.
As a young mum, I never envisioned a world where I wasn’t part of my children’s life.
Time for the ‘big girl pants’ and just get on with it!
DH off today, so probably the telly will be on for most of it. He works so hard - driving up to 300 miles every night Mon-Fri.
A reasonably quiet day then in prospect. Have a good one all!

Hollysteers I love your watercolour! I can't do clouds in any medium 😔.
I have driven to Tesco and bought some makeup. I haven't worn any for years so I'm feeling rather odd( I practised when I came home). Now I can see my face, I am horrified at the wrinkles and Deirdre Barlow neck. Make up helps the face but in the words of an ex colleague from Spain, it don't work no miracles.

Mostly white clouds with a bit of blue here, windy. Temp outside the kitchen window is 19.4 but it feels cooler outside.
I shall be doing a bit of weeding and watering, taking a walk, making a fish pie, and getting on with knitting my elephant!

You are extremely talented artistically hollysteers. That picture is so atmospheric. I love the contrast between the ephemeral sky and the sharp edges of the ships.
I think you got my share - I have no skills whatsoever. 🤭

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast. The town will be busy today. I’m staying home with the cat and carry on pottering about.
Quiet too yesterday and enjoyed it, just a FaceTime with DD in the south etc.

Since DS has removed the little tree from the side of the house etc., I can’t hear what I thought was the sound of water leaking.
It may be just a coincidence, but maybe he’s done something round there which has solved it🤞
I’ll have a practice sing for tomorrow’s music club and that’s it.

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

No walk yesterday, still too wet and windy. I worked on my physio exercises again and did some trainspotting through the window. I also did a little more decluttering.

I washed my hair for the first time since having it cut. It was a revelation, it was so quick and easy and didn’t need to use much shampoo and conditioner.

I’m finding typing difficult this morning, the trees may be loving this damp weather but my hands don’t so I’ll leave it here

As always, my thoughts are with those under the weather or dealing with sorrow in their lives.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, although the sun is trying its best. Rain forecast later, so no plans to do anything outdoors today.

Yesterday was bright and sunny although with a chilly wind, and I was.glad of my light jumper and hoody. I had a good mooch around the shops in town before the cinema, and stocked up on birthday cards, also got a couple of things in Boots using my points which had built up, so nothing to pay!

Watched 'The Phoenician Scheme' at the cinema, which turned out to be the.weirdest film I've seen, to say the least! Came out thinking what was that all about? But it was funny and whiled away a couple of hours.

I was in Screen 2 at the cinema, and had a message from RosiesMaw later on to say she was in Screen 1 next door - if only we'd known!

Will probably catch up with a few odd jobs this morning, clean the bathroom, wield the duster in the sitting room if I feel like it, then spend the afternoon reading. A ham casserole to make for dinner tonight.

Ash, your hymn tune is definitely the Dambusters March - we sang it at my DBrother-in-law's funeral last year; he had spent over 30 years in the RAF, and his funeral was with full military honours. A lovely rousing tune!

Morning everyone from a cloudy and windy south coast.

Sorry to nit pick but the Dambusters were part of 617 squadron flying out of RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire. I would have also giggled singing a hymn to the film’s theme tune and would have had to resist doing the arm movements 😂

633 Squadron is entirely fictional, created for a book and then the WW2 film which has a tune that would make a very rousing hymn. 😂

Hope everyone is having a good bank holiday. I’m helping DD with her decorating today. What joy. 😩

Good morning all. Wet and high winds again in Glasgow.

Instead of the lightweight linen I wore last week, yesterday was back to sweaters, socks and warmer pjs last night. Gone is the beautiful sight of tall flowers in bloom in the garden to a sodden, sparse petaled sorry sight. I know I should get out today but there is nowhere I can think of that I want to go, especially in miserable weather which is chucking it down atm.

Yes, Marydoll, I remember the RSAC club, a favourite venue of my parents. All that remains of it as you will have seen, an interior wall in the restaurant of the now Blythswood Hotel.

Good morning from a lovely sunny morning in Cheshire, but rain is forecast for later. I know the gardens need it, but my three climbing roses don't cope well with being battered, and the peonies are just beginning to open too.

In terms of putting one foot in front of the other each day since my sister's death last month, I'm walking but staggering a little from time to time. My DD has been amazing and has coped with my every need. What would I do without her?

My DGS is excited to be going to watch his team's victory parade in Liverpool this afternoon and I am filled with trepidation. 'Don't keep all your money in one place, any trouble walk away, etc', to which he replies, 'Grandma! I'm not stupid.' Fingers crossed!

A lovely day at Ludlow castle to yesterday. The little ones were fascinated by the actors who were playing King Henry 8th and his wives. They made the history interesting for all ages.
Swimming this morning and probably a nature trail this afternoon.

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright and very breezy Carlisle where we have gale warnings for the coast.
I did get out in the garden yesterday to do a little planting but not for very long, the stiff winds were chilly and unpleasant.
For the rest of the day it was doing admin and reading my book which I finished by dinner time.

Today I'm treating as a normal Monday, I prefer to go places when they're quieter, I'm lucky because I can. The Lakes can be horribly crowded this particular Bank Holiday. DH and I would generally be returning from somewhere quiet against the flow of nose to tail crawling traffic leaving and wonder how and where all those people had managed to fit in!

I've still to finish my tedious admin and compose a stiff letter so I'd better get on. Have an enjoyable day everyone if you can.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast.
Yesterday we had a bring your own bbq at the club. It was good fun with Good company.
DH and I left early to watch the football, a draw, the best result for both of us.
My eye is very slowly improving, not quite so painful.
DH is going to do some work on the boat whilst I have plenty to do here.

SIL took me shopping yesterday, went to Aldi, haven't been there in a very long time. Got a trolley full for half of what I spend in Sainsbury's.
Did some financial stuff online, wanted to reinvest an ISA, took ages but got there in the end.
I am not expecting any visitors for a week or two so I can catch up on TV and read my books.

I have smiled at marydoll comments on reprimanding children. I am still working and fast heading for retirement. Looking after 3/4 year olds don’t question them don’t tell them off even if they’re climbing the walls. Gentle parenting has now become no parenting!

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk with a forecast for it to last all day with a gentle breeze. Good to dry the washing but not so helpful for the parched garden.

DS and family are coming for lunch and we’re having a buffet with enough variety to please all. DGD1 is home from her first year at university where she is studying law. It will be lovely to see her as we haven’t seen her since Christmas. Her course is continuous assessment so no finals! Her student life seems so different from ours which was so much more leisurely with mad panics before end of year exams!

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I am going to a funeral of a neighbour this morning. A well liked man who was at the heart of our community.

Yesterday a plant swap had me rapidly potting up and labelling my seedlings for future homes. We had some heavy downpours which was good for the garden.

The film in the evening was Conclave which I thought excellent.

I was then driven around the local countryside by my learner driver DGS who has his test in a couple of months. I felt safe with him although he had a tendency to drive out from the kerb. in the middle of the road It is to avoid cyclists
apparently. 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♂️ 🚴‍♀️
