Good morning from a grey Bristol. I hope the wind dies down - it’s wind not breeze and unpleasant for sitting out.
We had a busy FAB cafe. Two new people came from the adjacent hall for coffee. They had just finished their keep fit. We have been trying to get them to come. Perhaps they will now.
I finished my trousers and shall wear them today. Trousers with an elasticated waistband are very easy to make (but measuring the waist is a terrible shock 😂).
I’ve got a dentist appointment this morning, then going to confront the dragon ladies to make a face-to-face appointment with the doctor and finally to Specsavers to get my new glasses. These include sunglasses as my present ones are very unsatisfactory.
These afternoon will be spent pottering.
No dinner with DD tonight as they are all too busy.
May all those in distress, pain or sorrow have a good day, this includes everyone but especially MD and FGT.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 26°C and it will be windy.

Had a lovely day yesterday meeting my late friend’s sons and grandchildren. I’ve known the sons since they were born so it was good to catch up.

The boys enjoyed their time at the swings but both fell asleep in the car on the way to nursery.

Today no nursery so I will take them out and hopefully tire them out so I can catch a bit of the tennis at Roland Garros. 😜

Lovely trousers grandMattie you are a lady of many talents. Best of luck with your appointments.

Hoping for a good day for all, I know life is a struggle at times so I wish you strength to get through the difficult days.☀️

Ashcombe Thu 29-May-25 06:05:08

Good morning from a dull and breezy Torbay.

This morning I’m having the annual service for my gas boiler. The engineer is due between 8.00 and noon which isn’t very helpful so I’ll have to be ready early.

Wishing everyone as good a day as possible. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Sallyforth Thu 29-May-25 06:13:26

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very rainy Cheshire. Yesterday began the same, but turned out to be a glorious warm sunny day. I seem to measure every day by how much washing I can dry outdoors! Yesterday I even borrowed my neighbour's line and did the pillows and duvets.

They are on holiday and before they went, they said I should use their new garden furniture when my garden is in shade. So once the washing was on the line I sat in the sun on their beautiful sofa.

I had a birthday card and coupon from the garden centre, so today my DD and I will go and have coffee and cake for my birthday. I must buy some more plants for the pots as I like them to be really bright for the summer.

Enjoy your day whatever you may be planning. Special thoughts for those with worries or sadness. flowers

Good morning all from a dull Black country.
DH has a fishing contest so it's an early start.
I'm going out with DS and the boys along with some of their cousins.
Lovely trousers grandMattie.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever you are doing ☀️.

RosesandLilac Thu 29-May-25 06:19:02

Good morning, a damp start here in south Glos.
Tiddler and I walked to the village cafe yesterday and back, a 4 mile round trip with a lovely coffee and homemade flapjack as a reward 😋. With our evening walk we did nearly 6 miles in total yesterday. We will do a similar length today; adding up all our walks I probably do over 30 miles a week!
I love your new trousers grandMattie, you are a very skilled seamstress ❤️
Housework and more crocheting today I think, my painting efforts are exasperating me so I will stop trying for a couple of days 🙄
My garden is looking really good so I will do some tidying and weeding this afternoon.
Sending hugs to anyone who needs them 🌹

karmalady Thu 29-May-25 06:25:56

Good morning from s somerset, dull until noon and then some sun

I am back on an even keel today and dd is getting there too, her kind and gentle horse was put to sleep on the operating table yesterday after weeks of illness. I am hoping she still goes on her ultra marathon cross-country run at the weekend, she has trained so hard and it will do her good

I am hoping to get out on a cycle ride, just an hour today, it would have been longer if the sun had been out this morning but dull weather does nothing for me. I need to make a batch of kefir when I get back and will be pottering, probably with my sewing

I picked another 4ib of gooseberries yesterday, they are swelling on the standard plants overnight. One large freezer drawer is filling, I think about 17lb so far. Luckily I have another two almost empty drawers ready for my blueberries and blackcurrants. Bearing in mind that these berries are a staple of my year-round food, I have them every day of the year

The blackcurrants are showing signs of colouring, it seems early this year. raspberries' and strawberries are swelling and I will be eating them fresh

I am getting a hankering to make pea and ham soup today. I have some pieces of gammon in the freezer and all the veg. Yes, I will soak the peas before I go out

Have a good day

GrannySomerset Thu 29-May-25 06:30:53

I am awake unusually early because today will be busy - if everything goes to plan. The solar panel fitter will be here as will my U3A book group this morning, and this afternoon I have a visit from the foreman to look at my back to front kitchen tap, so quite a lot of activity. Meanwhile I am having to get used to being without a car and am working out what that might mean in the longer term. Wish me luck!

cornergran Thu 29-May-25 06:33:30

Morning Mick, morning All from a gloomy corner of Somerset. Still far too windy out there

A visit to town yesterday morning had me smiling at the nature of people. There was rain in the strong, chilly wind, some folk were steadfastly dressed for summer others (like us!) had rain jackets and warmer clothes. When our son arrived later to move heavy stuff he was in the summer group and laughed at my long sleeves.

Coffee with neighbours this morning then what the dentist described as a complicated filling this afternoon. I know which I’ll prefer. At my checkup the dentist said I don’t appear nervous, my comment was I’m a good actor!

Have the best day you can everyone.

Greyduster Thu 29-May-25 06:56:16

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s raining here at the moment. I had a bad night. I think something I ate must have seriously upset me. No walking group today as I have an early follow up appointment with the physiotherapist and was going to call in at the gym, which is in the same building, but, at the moment I don’t feel up to it. This afternoon I have a much needed haircut booked.
Good luck with the dentist, Corner.
Have the best day you can, folks.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 29-May-25 07:11:32

Good morning from a cloudy grey S E Essex.

I m going to Ikea today with DD, not sure if The Imp is joining us or staying with DH. I need some photo frames to match some I already have and to replace a broken one. No doubt I will buy numerous things that I didn’t know I needed…

Snazzy trousers grandMattie

Good you are having a better day karmalady , grief can be so overwhelming when we least expect it.

Enjoy your day, however you are spending it 🙋‍♀️

Grandmabatty Thu 29-May-25 07:23:02

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and wet. It's raining quite heavily. GrandMattie your trousers are very nice. Karma I hope today is a better one for you and your daughter.
Yesterday morning was spent at dgs1's school sports day. It was well attended by parents and grandparents and well organised. Lots of activities for the children to do in their school houses then it ended with running races for each class. Dgs1 won his race! What was especially nice, was all the bigger boys he plays football with at break and lunchtime, were cheering him on. In the afternoon I did very little to my chagrin. I had plans for tidying things up and doing paperwork and couldn't be bothered to do any of it.
Today I have an early chiropodist appointment. Then I will definitely get stuff done. Another freezer meal. Chicken curry I think. Have a good day all.

Redcar Thu 29-May-25 07:23:20

Good morning from mid Essex. It’s cloudy and dry at the moment and I think is forecast to stay that way. Yesterday was quite warm and mostly sunny, a few light showers at times.
I walked to a nearby big shop and got a paper and a few other bits, the dog was pleased to see me when I got back. The dog walker took her out for a long walk at lunchtime and the family arrived home at 6.00. They had a great time exploring some of London for two days and were exhausted. I stayed the night as DD1 is taking me for assessment for my need for a blue badge. My present one expires next month and for some reason the powers that be want to see how well (!) I can walk. I find the badge very useful so hope I am deemed bad enough to warrant another one. But it would be nice if I could walk without the need for walking sticks or a rollator! Then I’m going home and will visit my dementia friend this afternoon.

cornergran I hope the dental appointment goes well and greyduster I hope you feel better today and that your physio appointment is helpful.
grannysomerset fingers crossed all goes according to plan today and good luck with getting around without a car.
bellasnana my DD2 has been in Türkiye this week and says it’s been very windy there too, as it is here! I hope you have a good day with your grandsons.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Thu 29-May-25 07:24:30

karmalady so sorry to hear about your daughter’s poor horse.

NannyJan53 Thu 29-May-25 07:28:06

Good morning from a drier and brighter Black Country, where it rained on and off most of yesterday.

Walking group walk today, then off to Mums to take her food shopping. Will also put a load of washing in her machine, as she is now reluctant to use it. The reason she gave, 'I am worried it may break down'!

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Marydoll Thu 29-May-25 07:30:21

Good morning all from wet Glasgow, where it is 12°C.
It is going to be a long day with Babydoll, no park today.
I suggested going to Silverburn, but the look on grumpy DH's face has knocked that on the head.😒

Yesterday, DD appeared with a pile of clothes to be altered. Two of the dresses were new and I gently told her they did not suit her. (Too short and baggy), She took it well and said her DH had made a similar comment. They are going back!

I was trying to work on one of the other dressess, mine, new, but too large, when the hospital unexpectedly rang to check on my progress.
Given my recent skin cancer diagnosis, the RA sister was quite concerned about my mouth and informed me, that I may have to stop all of my R.A drugs. That would be the last straw.
She also asked if my dentist had performed biopsies
I could not get her to understand that it had to be done by the dental hospital and the waiting list is long.
This is the R.A sister, who was sharp with me before, but on realising how awful I feel, she emailed my consultant, as she was speaking to me.

While I was on the phone, I spotted DH ( two rooms away ) in the living room, frantically waving his arms and gesticulating at something.
Rather than come and tell me, he was shouting something.
I was trying to hear what the nurse was saying, but it was so distracting. I tried to tell him that I was on the phone, but I am very hoarse and he is (in denial) deaf.

Then through the glass doors, I saw my friend standing beside him, she too, was unaware I was on the phone.
There was a four way converation going on, with my friend (two rooms away) saying that she had come to ask for advice about her BIL's funeral and the nurse trying to work out what on earth was going on.
My friend was mortified, when she eventually realised I was on the phone with the hospital, DH as usual was unrepentant!
How was he to know that I was on the phone? The clue may have been, that I was holding my phone and speaking into a phone! 🤬

When I went across the road to speak to my friend, she said she couldn't ask me in, because her DGD (Dollie's friend) had come home from school, covered in a rash and she was worriedcI would catch something.
His sister (anxious) at the best of times was becoming exceedingly worried about the funeral tomorrow and every time she spoke to the PP, he had given her conflicting information. She asked if I could help.
What I didn't say was that, he appears to becoming more and more confused and myself and my fellow sacristans are quite concerned. 😒
I did manage to sort things out last night before Mass.

On a lighter note; the money counters transport the Sunday collection to the bank in a small suitcase,
They had searched everywhere, but it had disappeared, nowhere to be found, until...... it was found yesterday in the parish Hall, with the fête donations.
Someone had dumped put it in the locked cupboard, where I was storing the alcohol donations. When I saw it, along with a set of golf clubs, which had been donated, I assumed it was a donation!
I am an eejit! 🤣

I am praying BabyD has a nap, DD needs the dress for tomorrow night and and I will be busy at the funeral tomorrow.
I may have to stay up all night to finish it! 🤣

Wishing you all a pleasant day.
Praying your DD is improving, Gingster and you are feeling a wee bit brighter G.G. 💐
#Talented lady, GMattie

kittylester Thu 29-May-25 07:35:50

Good morning all from a grey North Leicestershire.

I have a hair appointment at 4 in town but, before that, I will be bitting and bobbing.

Have the best day possible everyone.

luluaugust Thu 29-May-25 07:36:45

Good morning from a bright W Kent art group this morning, we have been low on numbers just lately but I am sure we will manage to chat.
Quiet afternoon but I have some batch cooking to do.
Love the trousers gM
Hope you feel better greyduster
Best wishes

Liberty Thu 29-May-25 07:37:31

Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk where the greyness matches my mood.

I am going up north to see my sister who has cancer. The illness has ,since Tuesday, taken a hold such that she knows her end is close. She is an amazingly brave and stoical woman who,in spite of what she is facing, was yesterday in good spirits according to my brother and sister in law and said that she is looking forward to seeing me today.

I shall be absent from posting for a few days I think but I hope all stay well and those suffering in any way find some comfort.

baubles Thu 29-May-25 07:38:59

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it’s teeming with rain.

You’re very talented gM.

karma, I’m sorry, your poor daughter will be heartbroken.

I too attended a school sports day yesterday batty. We had all weathers in the space of an hour and a half, the children kept going though.

I am doing very little today, I’ve a parcel to post and one to collect so will stroll round to the post office later.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

brook2704 Thu 29-May-25 07:39:06

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey with rain in the forecast. Yesterday was an unexpected gorgeous sunny afternoon so sat out in the sunshine in the afternoon
Sorry to hear about the horse Karma
This morning I’m calling into DD2s to collect a pile of returns, as she’s been buying lots of different things for her new house recently, she’s now got lots of returns to drop off - she’s no time apparently 🙄 After the running round a restorative cuppa at the garden centre with DH and we’ll probably buy a few plants for the summer pots at the front door
Well done with all the walking Roses it’s always good to do it especially with the reward of a treat afterwards!
Happy Birthday Sallyforth not sure if it’s today but enjoy your birthday treat of coffee and cake later 💐🎂🥂
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Sar53 Thu 29-May-25 07:48:51

Good morning everyone from the Essex coast. It's cloudy but warm.
Food shopping this morning and DH is helping to get a boat out of the water this afternoon. I'll go along for the ride.
Pretty trousers GM.
Have a great day everyone xx

Georgesgran Thu 29-May-25 07:55:23

Good Morning from Durham where it’s raining.
I’ve a pile of admin to tackle and I’m culling Tshirts - 20 went yesterday, yet the wardrobe looks no different!

I must take this opportunity to thank those GNs who mentioned me in their posts earlier this week. The kindness of strangers at its best. 🙏

Best wishes to all. X

EkwaNimitee Thu 29-May-25 07:58:54

Good morning Mick and everyone from a dark and very rainy Carlisle.
Yesterday was quite productive, after a bit of cleaning and admin, I decided to get the lawn mower out. The grass still isn't really growing but a lot of flowering stalks had sprung up and the lawn was beginning to look tatty.
After lunch I went for a walk in the park. I'd forgotten it was half-term and it was busy....I prefer it quiet as I'm wary of lads whizzing round on their bikes. However, they were fine, the worst person was the older person speeding far to fast round the paths on a mobility scooter!

This morning, a few jobs inside and then I've to try and arrange a replacement for a leaking radiator.
At lunch time, a visit to the dentist to assess what it to be done about my lost crown....he won't be able to put it back in I guess.
I hope it has stopped raining by then.

karma I'm very sorry to hear about the poor horse, I'd hoped he was on the mend. How very sad for your daughter and yourself.
