Good morning from an overcast Bristol.
I had no success with the GP dragon receptionist yesterday. I was behind this poor man who was patently ill struggling to see someone, only to be to pecked off and told he might get a phone call in the afternoon. I was told to “call tomorrow at 8”. I know that trick. You are 97th in the queue, you wait, then after a few minutes you are cut off, having to start again…. I’m seriously thinking of changing surgeries.
So I’m calling the surgery at 8.
No Spanish today, it’s half term. I’ll potter, sew, transplant some seedlings…
May all find that their mountain to climb is only a little hill.

Good morning from Malta where it is going to be 30°C today. Apparently we are in for a bit of a heatwave.

Had a lovely day out with the boys yesterday. Took them to the big park where we spent three happy hours. They love being outdoors and there was quite a breeze blowing which kept us cool in the sun.

DGS2 surprised me by being extremely chatty to a lady with her little boy after refusing to say a word to my friends the day before!

I was worn out and longing for DD3 to get home from work so I could go and watch the tennis. She was an hour late and I’m afraid I let her have it as I think she takes me for granted.

I’m off to look after them this morning, I don’t think we will go out as they have nursery this afternoon which I will take them to since the other gps are still abroad.

grandMattie I’m horrified at the difficulties you and others have in trying to get an appointment with the doctor. If you were here you can see one whenever you need to.

karma I was so very sorry to read about your DD’s horse. She must be devastated. It’s so hard to lose a loved one be it human or animal.💔

I hope the day goes well for you all.☀️

Pantglas2 Fri 30-May-25 05:39:24

Good morning Mick and all who follow from a dry and dull north Wales - I do hope it brightens later as I’m off to a friend’s this afternoon for drinks and nibbles in the garden …tra la 😋

Belated greetings for Sallyforth and the LLFLs 🥂🍾 - hope your special days were a delight!

A beef bourgignon to be prepped for tomorrow and some hummus to be made with leftover chickpeas will be my culinary twirl today👩🏻‍🍳and I shall be popping back to read of your excitements later…

Good morning from s somerset, sunny with clouds today, nice

I blew cobwebs away yesterday, on my road bike, no hesitation, lycra on and off I went. Pottering followed after my shower, hanging washing, made coffee, picking more gooseberries, making ham and pea soup for three portions

Watching home fires on youtube is good, a nice hour while topping and tailing my gooseberries

Today I will be driving my car to be washed, an 18 miles round trip. I might go to my plot on my bike and might get on with sewing pieces I have already cut out. Nothing is set in stone these days

Have a good day

cornergran Fri 30-May-25 05:47:02

Morning Mick, morning All. A clear, bright start to our corner of Somerset. Sunshine forecast.

Thr dentist and I survived my visit yesterday, not of the easiest but it’s done. We’re due loft insulation today. I’m a bit twitchy in case they don’t turn up, wish us luck.

I’m so sorry you’re having issues with a GP appointment grandmattie. Good luck at 8. I’m grateful the somewhat clunky systems at our practice do usually work and we have helpful, kind receptionists.

Have the best day you can everyone.

RosesandLilac Fri 30-May-25 06:13:18

Good morning from cloudy south Glos, more sunshine for today.
Yesterday’s dog walk didn’t go as planned, bigger dog set off after a rabbit followed by DH who , instead of just waiting for her to return, decided that he’d go after her 😵‍💫 I tried stopping him because she always comes back and certainly isn’t quick enough to catch anything!
After 15 minutes of trying to find him I gave up and continued the walk without him. Bigger dog had returned within 5 minutes and there was no sign of DH who’d set off in the opposite direction.
An hour later he was walking towards us as we finished the circuit.

Today tiddler and I will do a village walk, dog walker for the other then it’s art group this morning.

I totally sympathise grandMattie, our surgery is the same and because the GPs are working to rule there’s even less chance of getting an appointment ☹️

An afternoon gardening I think, the roses are magnificent this year, plenty of dead heading to do! The phlox have flopped and need staking and there’s always weeding and titivating!

Have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning from Shropshire where a dull day is forecast.

I had a surprise yesterday when my cousin who I haven’t spoken to in over 30 years called. We chatted for over an hour and will meet up at some point. No falling out just busy lives have meant all us cousins had pretty much lost touch with each other.

DD mentioned she will probably bring the children over this afternoon for their Friday sleepover. She hasn’t confirmed so not sure what is happening yet.

grandMattie I hope you get a GP appointment.I totally sympathise, our surgery is the same.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Good morning all. Mild with grey skies this morning in Glasgow, a high of 29deg. and sunshine is due late morning, we will have a sunny windy day.

I recently bought a full length plastic raincoat with a hood which rolls up into a pouch, it came in very handy yesterday. The rain was relentless and the coat was perfect, especially when I leaving the hairdressers. Not in the mood to cook, I popped into an M&S outlet at a local petrol station for a mixed salad and headed home.
An at home day possibly or whatever the day brings. As you say Karma….nothing is set in stone these days.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant/brighter day for those with troubled times.

Greyduster Fri 30-May-25 06:40:16

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from an overcast South Yorkshire where the wind is battering my poor roses again. Yesterday was a fairly sedentary day because I was tired from lack of sleep on Wednesday night. I did get my hair cut, which always makes me feel better. Today I must get stuck into some gardening. I’ll cut the front lawn if it stays dry and weed the rockery, and try and have a decent walk later.
Have the best day you can folks.

Ashcombe Fri 30-May-25 06:47:16

Good morning from a cloudy Torbay with sunshine trying to break through.

A dental check up this morning then a small shop in Asda for those items that are unavailable in Lidl.

Good luck with the GP, grandMattie. With our practice we have the option to fill in a form online if there are any still available. Many of the questions are completely irrelevant to the condition from which you are suffering. A response (usually a phone call) is supposed to happen the same day but patients are advised to ring if they don’t hear within 48 hours. I hate it as it ties up the day until they ring….. or not.

A good day to all. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Grandmabatty Fri 30-May-25 07:10:49

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14°, breezy and overcast. Susan how lovely to hear from your cousin.
Yesterday I was at the chiropodist for nine o'clock and home before ten. I picked up rye bread from Aldi for a change but it doesn't make good toast. In the afternoon, my feet were very painful, nothing to do with the chiropodist but I have peripheral neuropathy which bothered me all afternoon and evening. I ended up taking painkillers. I did very little and annoyed myself! I must find my motivation.
Today I'm meeting dd and we are going to the school. Dgs1's school have a family picnic day every year. They ask for donations which go to Rachel House, a children's hospice. Dgs2 will join us from his nursery too. Fingers crossed that it stays dry. Chicken curry for dinner. I made it last night and there's enough for tonight too.
Some good news is, dd invited ds to come with us on holiday to Gran Canaria in the summer and he has agreed. He will be staying ten minutes away from our hotel. I am looking forward to having my whole wee family together.
Have a good day all.

monk08 Fri 30-May-25 07:14:15

Good morning all from the Black country not much happening weather wise.
Yesterday the wind was that relentless that after an hour management closed the wooded play area we where at with the boys.
Today we should be meeting friends but shall cancel not feeling to good full of cold its come on very sudden.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

EkwaNimitee Fri 30-May-25 07:15:54

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle...it was bright a little while ago but is now threatening rain.
Yesterday lunchtime, I went into town for my dental appointment which went very well....the crown which had fallen out was able to be fixed back in. I'd thought it was the one which had been out two or three times before and was expecting root canal treatment or a partial denture but not so.
After that I visited M&S Food Hall, visitors are arriving tonight.

I have various little jobs today, mostly prepping for the visit, just for this weekend. It's not going to be good weather-wise, judging by the forecast.

I don't know why surgeries still operate that ridiculous 'ring at 8am' system. I endured that at my previous abode. Here, we fill in an online form and get a response later in the day, often very promptly. No good if you don't use a computer but must take the pressure off the phone queue.
So good luck today, grandMattie.

And the best possible day to you all.

kittylester Fri 30-May-25 07:17:49

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

Ironing today for me and, as DH is going to the gum, I will be fielding messages and phone calls from his niece. Her father (DH's remaining brother) is in hospital in Thailand with covid.

luluaugust Fri 30-May-25 07:20:24

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. A supermarket shop this morning and baking afternoon to follow. DH is now the proud? owner of hearing aids and I hope I can now stop having to repeat everything, we shall see
We use the e consult for our Drs appointments, it generally works well with some kind of reply the same day. They have my mobile number so I don’t stay in necessarily but have ended up in some strange places discussing my symptoms
Best wishes to all

Sallyforth Fri 30-May-25 07:21:55

Good morning Mick and everyone from a dull morning in Cheshire. Yesterday the rain cleared and it was another lovely afternoon and evening. I had bought some bedding plants the day before so I was able to get those in the beds. I'm going with shades of purple/lavender in that small bed. I must get some more stakes to hold up the peonies though.

Sorry to read about the problems with Dr's surgeries. Mine used to be the same, but there has been a sea change. When I saw the Dr last Thursday, (yes, same day appointment) she said she would call today at 10.30 to see how I'm getting on with my new meds.

I had a lovely birthday yesterday. Thank you for the good wishes. Quiet, but I had some lovely gifts. A dress from my DD. It's gorgeous and fits beautifully. She knows me well.

May we all have the best day possible. Special thoughts for those with worries. flowers

Redcar Fri 30-May-25 07:22:00

Good morning from mid Essex. It’s bright but cloudy and feeling mild out. Yesterday was sunny but with a gale force wind. DD1 took me for the assessment of my mobility relating to my application to renew my blue badge. I do realise the need for the assessment but do have the feeling that the person conducting it was trying to catch me out regarding my abilities! I came out feeling quite depressed.
In the afternoon I saw my friend with dementia, she was asleep most of the time.
grandmattie it’s so worrying when you know you need to see a doctor but can’t get past the dragon in reception. Good luck with the 8 o’clock scramble.
cornergran glad you survived the dentist and hope the loft people turn up today.

I have a pile of ironing to do and a food delivery this afternoon. The sun and wind have dried the garden again, so I will have to water parts of it and repot the tomato plants into big pots. They’re still looking a bit spindly but have survived the recent winds so hope they’ll be ok in big pots.
Bingo in the village hall this evening, and an evening of discomfort on the horrible chairs there. Everyone complains about them but it’s too expensive to replace them all.
Have a good day everyone!

grandMattie Fri 30-May-25 07:34:37

Thanks all.
No online appointment page!
I only have a growth on my face, which needs in person viewing nothing over the phone. Not urgent but needs seeing to as I have previously had one removed surgically l

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I didn’t have a particularly good night. Strange dreams and I woke up fretting about my two sons who are still not speaking.

OH and I had a lovely anniversary meal last night.

OH is out today with his shooting club. I must go and collect a new carving tray from a nearby town.

Our daughter is coming for the weekend tomorrow so I will sort her room out.

Hope all is well with MaryD and the FGT2S.

cornergran Fri 30-May-25 07:36:38

I’m so pleased for you grandmab. A very special holiday to look forward to.

brook2704 Fri 30-May-25 07:37:55

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey with light rain
Hopinh you get through and get your GP appt gMattie
I’m off to the gym this morning, DH will drop me off and go for a swim himself. I’ll then enjoy my usual walk through the Ness islands back into town and get the bus home. It’s always an enjoyable walk, about a mile and a half with lots of nice cafes along the way for a coffee.
How lovely that your kind DD invited your DS on holiday grandmabatty and he’s joining you all, what a lovely family occasion to look forward to
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

glammagran Fri 30-May-25 07:38:28

Good morning from a currently overcast Wiltshire. No rain is forecast. We definitely haven’t had enough this week. It was warm in the sun yesterday but the incessant wind is annoying. It seems to be all over Europe and beyond.

We had a walk around Avebury which was very nice. My hip made it round. I’m usually a fast walker so it was frustrating to amble. I’ll see a consultant in June.

I’m so sorry to read about your DD’s horse Karma after hoping he would recover. It must be heart breaking.

I wasn’t aware of a GP work to rule. It seems harder than ever to get an appointment these days. I haven’t been to one for nearly a year as I tend to ignore things which at one time I wouldn’t have because I hate the fight to see anyone.

Lobster and tomato spaghetti for tea. Frozen lobster isn’t that pricy. I’m glad I’m not the one prepping it though!

Have a good day everyone.

Gingster Fri 30-May-25 07:40:41

Good morning all and it’s going to be a warm one today. I hope the summer won’t be too hot. I can’t cope with the heat! 🥵.

Yesterday Dh was out with his old school pals and enjoyed breakfast and being out and about.

I went to DD’s and did a few jobs for her. It’s a shame for little gd as they had plans for outings this week but Dd isn’t well enough. I’d like to take her out but I can’t be everywhere .
She’s such a good girl and never complains.

Today we have two therapists - physio and OT. Dh wants to talk about driving again. He will probably be assessed.

* Bellasnanna* I can understand your frustration. You do more than your fair share of childcare and you need some time for yourself, however much you love those boys. We have to let our DDs know at times. !

Take care and make the most of the day.🪴🌼

ginny Fri 30-May-25 07:50:55

Good morning from Shropshire, our last full day.
Lovely visit to Blist Hill yesterday, the two little ones were fascinated and asked lots of questions.
Not sure what we are doing today, there maybe different excursions but we’ll all be together this evening.
Thoughts with those who are troubled in any way and a good day wished for all.
