Good morning from a drizzly Bristol.
I’m so sorry you’ve had a rotten time, Mick. I hope things improve soon.
Poor Iris sat at hospital until nearly 5pm only to be told to go home. The surgeon was willing to do the op, but the hospital refused. A possible appointment for next week but nothing definite. Disappointment all round.
My GP appointment went well. The growth on my face which worried me is a wart, but the GP found other areas of concern, so I’m being referred to a dermatologist after photos are taken tomorrow.
Just tai chi today - now the op has been postponed, I might dine at DD’s. I have to check.
I hope the mountains to be climbed are only hills…. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Sallyforth Thu 05-Jun-25 05:57:42

Good morning Mick. It's lovely to get your greeting each morning, but today I'm a little concerned about you. What you must do is 'to get some solid food' and ignore the laundry for today. Start off with small amounts like toast and perhaps an egg to begin to build up your strength. At the moment I have the alarm on my phone to remind me to eat something small and light every two hours.

It's pouring down here in Cheshire. Even my garden is saying enough!

This week I'm making progress in recovery from grieving for my sister. I went to the hairdresser. Yeah! I'm going back to my art group this morning as I've missed it and the people.

Have the best day possible. Kind thoughts to those with worries. flowers

Good morning all from a damp north Wales where I’m all excited as we’re off to 🇹🇷 Antalya tomorrow for a week (another first) I’ve been researching Turkish food and can’t wait to try new dishes 😋

Had my last Glass Workshop yesterday and am rather pleased my piece de resistance turned out so well (not everything I attempted did…🤬). I’d love to have a go at pottery LLFL and am definitely signing up to more Glass classes in September 🤗

Will try and keep up with all your doings, t internet dependent, but hope all have happy outcomes with their health woes x

Good morning from a rainy Torbay.

I think you need to be kind to yourself, Mick, and follow the good advice from Susan 56 to help you recover from the procedure.

Poor Iris! It’s bad enough when adults have disappointments over treatment in hospital but very hard on a child. I do hope she doesn’t have to wait too much longer, grandMattie.

It’s good to hear that you are trying to resume your normal life, Sallyforth; not an easy time for you but well done for getting back into your hobbies.

I have a physio appointment at 8 am for them to look at the hip that was troublesome last December and on a couple of occasions since then. You might remember it left me unable to put weight on my left leg.

This afternoon, I have an appointment with a different dental hygienist. I have to go an hour early to take a precautionary liquid antibiotic due to having had mitral valve surgery in the past.

Wishing everyone as good a day as possible and happy landings to Pantglas2. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning all. Grey, overcast but so far, dry this morning in Glasgow..

Sunny, dry spells yesterday looked so inviting from the kitchen window but pottering in the garden with 40mph gusts was anything but a pleasure and I eventually gave up and stayed indoors with a list of tasks to choose from happy to leave my gardener to continue on. Hairdressers this afternoon and collect scripts is my outing today.

Poor Iris mentally prepared for surgery only to be told to go home as her op was cancelled. One example of NHS at its worst.
Hope you feel better as the day goes on Mick.

Best wishes to all for a good day and strength to those struggling through difficult times.

Bellasnana Thu 05-Jun-25 06:19:33

Good morning from Malta where we expect a high of 31°C.

Just arrived at DD3’s and the boys are still fast asleep, lucky things!

I will try to take them out today if I can summon up the energy.

Sorry to hear poor Iris waited all day for nothing. What a let down when everyone was geared up for it.😞

Have a good day all.☀️

Morning Mick, morning All from a soggy corner of Somerset.

The fight over our far from smart meters continues. 14 months now with no resolution. The engineer may as well move in, he’s as frustrated as we are. Yet another formal complaint dispatched. We have been allocated a ‘problem solver’ who will phone on Friday. I don’t anticipate the problem will be solved.

Chores completed, frustration speeded up the dusting, I booked Mr C’s choice of a pre-Christmas day trip while he headed for a restorative nap. Equilibrium, sense of humour and energy restored we wandered out for a short walk in fleeting sunshine returning with a cream cake each, oops. Very good they were too smile.

Today it’s a trip to a shopping mall. Some bits and pieces to gather for forthcoming family birthdays, there’s no rush, it will be a slow start which is very welcome.

Take it easy mick, hope the discomfort passes soon. What a shame for Iris, so frustrating grandmattie. I’m pleased the GP is being pro-active for you and wish you the best outcome.

Have the best day you can everyone.

RosesandLilac Thu 05-Jun-25 06:40:40

Good morning, it’s soggy and chilly here in south Glos, I lit the wood burner again yesterday which is ridiculous for June.
We had a peaceful dog walk yesterday but for some reason I was struggling 🤷🏼‍♀️ It wasn’t particularly long but a very steep hill nearly finished me!
Usual sort of day otherwise.
How annoying for Iris grandMattiie , I hope things go ahead next week.
I hope the discomfort goes quickly Mick, do you have anything like soup that is easy to heat up and digest?

Hope all goes well for you all today 🌹

Marydoll Thu 05-Jun-25 07:03:05

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, highest temperature predicted today is 14°C.

Mick, you really need to stay at home and rest. You would be foolish to go on that bus to Bicester.

I am sorry disappointed for Iris, she has many challenges in her life.

Pleased to hear you sound brighter Sally.
GM, I had my diagnosis ( not the one I wanted) five days after the photos were sent. I hope you receive a prompt response.

Yet again, yesterday was full on. I did manage to sort the wheat from the chaff, i.e the alcohol from the junk. You would not believe some of the things people have donated for the fête.

My stalker caught me after Mass, despite my best efforts to avoid him. Once again, he wanted to me to let him into the alcohol store to choose the bottles for his magic key box.
We have already checked this at least three times. This is the gentleman, who keeps naking pocket voice calls on his phone to the fête WhatsApp chat, but is unaware he has done it. I am forever phoning him, asking to hang up. It is driving us mad! The chairperson said, that she is going to confiscate his phone.🤣

Last night, just as I sat down after dinner, he phoned me again. He said had been trying to get in all day to check his stash, but no-one was there to help him! I explained that we would sort things out on Friday, but he insisted he could not wait two days.
Poor man, since his wife died recently, he has become quite confused. 😔

I eventually made it to the dentist, where they were extremely kind, when they heard my tale of woe.
The outcome, an appointment to sort my broken tooth and the dentist phoned in the afternoon to confirm that the dental hospital had accepted the referral. It is now a matter of waiting for the appointment to come through.
Disappointingly, I arrived at the baker's to find the shelves empty. 😭 Everything was sold out!!

Pants, enjoy your trip. I know Anatalya well, not from visiting there, but from watching my Turkish love dramas, as Dollie has named them.😄

Babydoll will be here soon, so pancakes to make. I may forgo the blueberry part. Last week, she was purple, as were her pyjamas.😄
I need to enjoy her company for as long as I can. My deteriorating health means I nay have to give up childminding soon.

Have a pleasant day folks and hugs for all, who are struggling.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 05-Jun-25 07:05:25

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

What a pain for Iris GM - hopefully there will be a new date soon.

We are having the boiler serviced this morning. While that’s happening I am popping into a nearby town (which has free parking!) to buy some new sandals.

OH has found someone willing to take in the swarm of bees he captured the other day. They have already started making honeycomb!

Have a good day everyone. I hope all is well with MD and the FGT2S.

Susan56 Thu 05-Jun-25 07:08:27

Good morning from Shropshire.Raining at the moment.

Yesterday we collected H from school where he had had a transition day for year one.He loved it and doesn’t want to go back to reception today.DGD had her first netball match against another school. Her team won so great excitement.DH took H to Squirrels and I spent the time with SIL’s parents.

Today we are going to mum’s house again. There are a couple of jobs we want to do so although it’s a long drive we know if we don’t go it will be playing on our mind.

I am sorry Iris didn’t have her operation.I hope it goes ahead soon.Mick I hope you feel better as the day goes on.

Safe travels Pantglas.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

Grandmabatty Thu 05-Jun-25 07:10:56

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and cloudy. GrandMattie poor Iris. What a let down. *Mick" I hope you feel better soon.
Yesterday my hairdresser gave me a very expensive hair treatment pack for free. I usually get a freebie from him, but this was unexpected. He doesn't want me to lose any more hair. In the afternoon I worked in the school library for an hour and a half, putting the shelves in order. I enjoy it. I spoke with the Depute Head who is very appreciative of my efforts. I looked on the internet for ideas to make the walls more inviting and we discussed signage ideas for the new session. Back home, and I did more tidying in the boys room.
Today I have a quiet morning then back to the library in the afternoon. I might do some weeding, if the wind stays away. I know what you mean Kalu. The wind yesterday was ferocious. Or I might finish off the boys room. I'm putting off doing paperwork and I should be sorting that out too. Lots of tasks! Have a good day all.

Greyduster Thu 05-Jun-25 07:15:39

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Mick I’m so sorry you had a bad time yesterday - good advice on here about a light diet in small amounts. Take it easy today. The laundry will wait.
Yesterday, writer’s group was fun and very productive. Had a nice chat with GS after tea about his exams. It’s raining in South Yorkshire so I’m weighing up whether I want to walk this morning. At the moment the scales are tipping towards “No”. There’s no joy in walking in the wet and I have plenty to do at home.
Have the best day you can, folks.

BlueSapphire Thu 05-Jun-25 07:17:26

Good morning everyone from a rainy Northampton; forecast is wet all day. Up early this morning as I have a blood pressure check and a routine blood test at the surgery. My appointment is at 10am, and the only suitable bus is just after 9; I could walk but it is a good 45 minutes which I do not fancy in the rain! I will take my Kindle so I can sit and read while waiting.
Afterwards I shall walk 5 minutes into the village and have a coffee before returning home on the bus.

Had a lovely morning gossiping (for nearly 3 hours!) with neighbours yesterday morning. We sat in neighbour's new 'garden room' which was very pleasant; she has all mod cons in it: electric, heating, Wi-Fi, a fridge, kettle, a sofa-bed, and it is beautifully decorated.

Had a very lazy rest of the day, spent mostly reading, and a Waitrose delivery early evening.
Will be more of the same today once I return from the surgery.

Take it easy today Mick and take Sallyforth's good advice re food.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Redcar Thu 05-Jun-25 07:17:44

Good morning from mid Essex where it has just started raining. I hope it lasts as the garden is in desperate need of it.
mick I hope you feel better soon and that you are able to sort out your digestive problems.
grandmattie poor Iris, what a disappointment for her and her family. I hope they don’t have to wait too long for another appointment.
I spent yesterday doing my many exercises and cleaning most of the house. Podiatrist this morning and an Ocado delivery this afternoon. In between I shall be trying to sort out my email access on the iPad, which isn’t connecting. A call to my number 1 son in law will probably be needed!!
sallyforth well done for starting to get back to normal again. I’m sure some gentle socialising will help.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Sar53 Thu 05-Jun-25 07:18:51

Good morning from my bed in Leamington. I believe it may rain today.
A long journey yesterday but SIL met me at the station and DD1 arrived home soon afterwards.
Lovely to see the girls, 2 of them tower over me and the 9 year old is nearly as tall as me and I'm about 5ft 4in. Both parents are tall.
Today DD1 and I are popping into town before she has to take the youngest to the dentist. She is then going to see Kylie with 3 friends, I think she is quite excited 😊.
S has a History GCSE exam today. She seems to be coping well.
It's always busy here but it makes such a change from my usual quiet life.
I hope you improve as the day goes on Mick and I'm sorry to hear that Iris's op was postponed GM.
Enjoy the day everyone, best wishes to all xx

luluaugust Thu 05-Jun-25 07:26:35

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Art group this morning, I feel as if it’s been a busy week. Caught up with DFs yesterday and mulled over all the usual problems of family life. One DF is about to become a great gran.
So sorry to hear about Itis rotten for a child.
Marydoll glad the dentist is making a referral.
Mick get some light food going and rest
Best wishes

Gingster Thu 05-Jun-25 07:27:02

Good morning all and it’s dreary here in Essex. Hopefully the rain will be enough to make some impact in our extremely dry ground.

Physio was planning to take Dh for a fishing hour or two. We’ve cancelled as neither of us were confident that he’s up to it, especially in this damp weather. He’s got to build up more stamina and confidence before he tries things. Don’t run before you can walk (literally).

I had a nice morning with Dd yesterday as she was back to ‘normal’. She has a few weeks feeling fine and then down she goes with a bang! We made the most of it and shopped together and then met our old neighbour for a coffee. They are both quite extrovert, loud and chatty and enjoyed each others company , with me as their audience. 😊. It’s nice to see her laughing.

Poor Iris. She has a lot to put up with. Hopefully another appointment will be made quickly.
Take it easy today Mick, don’t even think about going out.
It takes time to get over these procedures.

Take care all 🪴🌼

brook2704 Thu 05-Jun-25 07:42:37

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still breezy but with a sunny sky and a few light clouds
What a disappointment for Iris gMattie, I hope her operation is rescheduled soon
How lovely to spend the morning shopping with your DD Gingster precious time together
I’m hoping to get back into the garden today, there’s always lots to keep me busy and I enjoy it.
Sounds like a really good day yesterday grandmabatty the school are so lucky to have you
Enjoy the visit Sar53 and the busy house, I know what you mean! Good luck to S with her exams too
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Jaxjacky Thu 05-Jun-25 07:46:50

Morning from a wet S Hants, the heating came on!
Have a lovely holiday Pant ☀️
How disappointing for Iris, really unsatisfactory.
Gently today Mick no gadding about.
Yesterday I took one friend out for lunch and in the afternoon another one thinned and trimmed my mop of hair, I need to wash it later to ‘settle’.
No huge plans today, I’ll get a walk in and give the kitchen a good clean.
Thinking of the *FGT’s
🦩🦩

Georgesgran Thu 05-Jun-25 07:58:42

Good Morning from Durham. It’s a cool, grey start with drizzle expected later.
Today is DGS2’s birthday - he’s 4 and an absolute charmer. He’s off to Nursery soon, so his party is on Saturday.
Nothing planned here today - with Little Dog staying, I’m a bit restricted, but I can continue decluttering.
Mick I think you are having the ‘normal’ reactions to your procedure - please don’t even consider going out and about!
Frustrating and disappointing for Iris too - such a let-down.

Best wishes to all. X

karmalady Thu 05-Jun-25 08:02:22

Good morning from s somerset, cool and damp, not nice

Mick, rest today, your body took a battering yesterday and you need to recover with several small meals and snacks

I am so disappointed about the op cancellation for Iris yesterday, so unfair that it happens to children too

My walk yesterday is becoming a good habit, later I made three pretty knickers from pima cotton and soft stretch lace. The dishwasher pinged as soon as it started and I had to find the non-return valve etc as the drain pump was not working. I first used soda and hot water and a bowl and scoop to empty the liquid. Good job I can still work on my hands and knees and glad I always keep washing soda in. Fixed it

I am staying in today and wearing something warmer, no plans but I will be doing something or other, starting by washing the floors and now it is cooler, I feel like spinning

Have a good day and pant the glass is beautiful

harrigran Thu 05-Jun-25 08:22:24

Good morning from a cool NE, the heating is on.
Pleasant afternoon with sister and BIL yesterday, got all the shopping I needed and collected my prescription.
BIL brought Geraniums and planted them in my patio pots, the lavendar in the other pots are starting to flower.
Had message from GD1 last night, she booked a cottage in Scotland and drove herself and her boyfriend there, five and a half hour journey and she had to do all the drjving because he doesn't.
My sister, who broke her neck last December, has decided to travel to the UK for a six week visit. She is coming at the end of this month.
Today will be a quiet one, nothing on the calendar.
Happy holidays to those travelling.

ginny Thu 05-Jun-25 08:38:17

Good morning from N.Bucks where it is breezy and damp.
Household jobs and communications to sort and cake to make this morning.
Sewing group this afternoon.
DH returns from his golf trip later and we are hoping to book an autumn break.
Wishing all a good day.
