Good morning from South Lanarkshire. Lovely blue skies here which is great because it’s our Lanimers Day. It caps a week of celebrations starting with a multifaith church service on the Sunday ‘Kirking the Cornet’, a long walk around the town boundaries on the Monday evening, the Ride Out on the Wednesday which involves visiting riders from other border towns and capped today with a wonderful procession of fabulously decorated ‘floats’ which have been produced with lots of hard work by some amazingly gifted groups. The three primary schools and several local groups produce entries too.
This year it will be bigger than it has been since Covid as larger lorry based entries are again permitted.

It’s quite a special day as many family members come back to celebrate family reunions and lots of houses and gardens are beautifully decorated.

Lovely pictures Grammaretto and I send condolences to you Bellasnana on your sad loss.

Hope Iris doesn’t have too much pain and discomfort as she recovers grandMattie and good wishes to everyone for a pleasant day.

That sounds like such a lovely celebration stilllearning , enjoy the day ahead. It sounds like such a lot of hard work has been done, well done to all

Morning from an overcast S Hants, we’ve just had a light shower of rain.
My condolences Bellas 🥀
Well done Iris I hope she recovers well, a plucky young lady.
I’ve the hygienist this morning, not my favourite, then a chat with a dentist about implants.
This afternoon a funeral, a friend’s husband in his 50’s, no age.
Today is not one of my best.

Good morning from dull and showery s somerset

Bellasnana I am so sorry for your loss

EkwaNimitee those bumble bees, I think they might be drunk, the june apple drop started some weeks ago and the fallen apples will have started to ferment and attract the bees. An easy way to feed and quench thirst using their proboscis, mouth like a straw

I finished a shawl collared top this morning, a toile for autumn, it looks nice in linen/tencel and I will do the final pattern alterations to file. today It will be another `turn-to` pattern.

itch-to-stitch.com/product/venado-top-digital-sewing-pattern-pdf/

Some plants I ordered but forgot about arrived yesterday,
3 Ichiki Kuri squash plants, I then had to go to the allotment to plant them and had a nice chat with some people up there. I am glad of the showers today, it will save me watering them. The soil is still far too dry, even some strawberry plants are showing signs of stress

Dd fetched her rescue pony yesterday, they loaded her via heras fencing, like loading cows. She is not used to handling nor a head collar but instinct says that she is a loving kind pony that just needs patience and tlc. She is 6 and has come to live with a 32 year old of the same height so she will have a grandad there to help her settle

These cool dull showery days remind me very much of the season turning so I want to get on and sew my all season dress today

Have a good day

Good morning from sunny Lancashire.
Glad to hear that Iris's operation went to plan, grandMattie.

A sudden death is always horrible, Bellasnana, but it sounds like you have lovely memories and that's a wonderful legacy he's left behind.

My day with Reception class went well yesterday. In between doing the planters for the outdoor area we had a production line going completing Fathers Day cards and presents. All father figures are invited to a special assembly tomorrow where the children will sing them a song. Would bring a tear to a glass eye, as my dad would have said!
It's my son's 1st Fathers Day this weekend so he has all this to come.

I'm going to sort through 3 sideboard cupboards this morning. We've been here nearly 24 years and are planning to downsize in the next few years so I've made a start on decluttering.

My friend gave me a good tip when I was dithering about what to keep. She asked me would I want to pack it, move it, unpack it and find it a space in a smaller house. If the answer is 'no' then it has to go.
Time to stop procrastinating. Have a lovely day everyone. 🌻

Good morning

I think we are forecast another dry, warm day. I hope so, because I’ve got some gardening jobs to tackle later.
I’m so sorry to read about your BiL Bellasnana. A shock for you 💐.

Wishing a rapid recovery from the surgery for your GD GrandMattie.

I hope you can soon see the specialist Marydoll, your mouth must be so painful.

I think we all sometimes do silly things, Greyduster. I did something similar last summer, but it was the hosepipe tap. I thought I’d switched it off, gone out, but came home to water gushing all over the garden - the force meant the hose attachment had come off. We’re on a water meter, too 😮. Lesson learnt, though. I double check now.

Happy Lanimers stilllearning, I’d forgotten it’s today.

harrigran Thu 12-Jun-25 08:43:40

Good morning from a grey, cool NE but I believe it will improve later.
Sister and BIL visited yesterday, my sister stayed in the house while BIL dropped me off at the supermarket. My sister is not well and on top of that has been called to the hospital following her poo stick test last week.
In the evening I went to talk to my neighbour opposite, she is having her bathroom upgraded, bath out and large shower instead. She will be without a toilet and water all day so I told her she can use one of my bathrooms.
I heard that my adjoining neighbour had died on Sunday, I was shocked, he was still working full time. I have lived next door to them for 54 years.
Today will be a quiet one, might make some soup with tired looking vegetables.
Thoughts are with poorly people and those who are grieving.

Good morning everyone from an overcast south coast. As it’s my birthday I shouldn’t be having one of those sad awakenings to the day that many of us know so well but I’m struggling to shake it off. DD will be arriving later to take me out - first to Gilbert White’s Gardens then a pub lunch somewhere. The weather forecast is a bit on the grim side. However, in the words of my favourite anthem (ELO) ‘You gotta hold on to something that makes you feel ALRIGHT!’

I’m sorry to read of sadness on the thread this morning.
Stay strong X

GrannyIvy Thu 12-Jun-25 09:03:32

Good morning from Cambridgeshire.

💐 Bellasnana Hope the boys give you comfort today. I’m sorry to hear of your loss.
GM I do hope Iris ‘s post op recovery goes well.
Also hoping Marydoll gets that urgent appt very soon. Lovely pic of Babydoll.

I am hoping to get to Pilates this morning but still not quite feeling right. Just dizzy and heady and tired. Will see how I am after showering.

I need to chase up my two hanging baskets I ordered from the little local nursery. I just wish I had done them myself as I usually do! Other than that need to chase DH to get him to do his jobs in the garden before our friends arrive tmrw . He had his shingles vaccine a few days ago and has a very sore arm. Since our holiday we have both lost our get up and go maybe we need another one 😂

Hoping everyone has a good day

GrannyIvy Thu 12-Jun-25 09:05:56

Morning all from a lovely sunny Kent. Up at sparrow fart this morning- 06.20 as DH had a hygienist appointment at 08.30! There’s no point in trying to go back to sleep as he is so noisy. I then had a text at 08.20 to say he wasn’t sure if he had closed the front door! He had.
Marydoll glad someone has had another professional look at your mouth. I watched the live stream of the funeral yesterday at St John’s. Lovely eulogy by our ex MP, he read a letter from Tony Blair which was a nice touch.
Having an issue with my surgery. I sent a message to my GP last Tuesday regarding steroid dosage- I got a response on Tuesday this week! I have polymyalgia rheumatica and the only treatment is prednisolone so it was important to get the right dose in place. Outcome was two weeks at a high dose and report back - wonder how long I will wait for that reply.
Not feeling 100% but I think it’s probably due to PMR and the steroids. Hoping to get out at the weekend for a bit of fresh air. Being housebound was never a problem I ever thought about. It’s the pits!!! Having a balance issue on top of the PMR is making things a whole lot worse - dizzy, sore, stiff, wobbly and massively fed up is not a good combination. I do like dipping in to all your posts. I live vicariously on all your exploits. I imagined my twilight years to be full of voluntary work, lunches and holidays - ah well, it’s not to be!
Have a good day all. 😁😀

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

Yesterday it was a beautiful sunny day, we went out early to Lytham and had a walk along the sea front. It was quiet when we arrived and we had no trouble parking. As we were heading back home at lunchtime it was filling up rapidly. I didn’t do much after lunch as I was quite sleepy after all that sea air.

Clicky jaw is slowly resolving itself, I took one paracetamol before dinner last night, no more needed.

Pleased to hear Iris’s surgery went well Grandmattie. Here’s to a speedy recovery. Prescription sunglasses are a game changer.

Sorry for your loss Bellasnana flowers.

Beautiful photos Grammaretto.

Hope all goes well tomorrow Grandmabatty.

Great charity shop find Marydoll, Babydoll looks so cute and innocent there grin.

Greyduster my short term memory is terrible as a result of my brain injury over 20 years ago. I do sometimes worry it might be getting worse but I had no problems with a cognitive test during my recent hospitalisation. Perhaps a chat with your GP might help.

Sending positive vibes to FGT2 and Himself.

As always, my thoughts are with those dealing with illness and troubles, I hope the day brings you some comfort.

Have the best day you can, happy Thursday 🌹

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 12-Jun-25 09:20:38

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

Such a lot of distress and sadness this morning, but hope with Iris.

My chin wax didn’t happen yesterday. The receptionist tried ringing and I texted her, but nothing. I went home and got the tweezers out!

We are meeting friends for lunch. OH has known them for many years since they met up in Beirut on business.

Have a good day.

Blossoming Thu 12-Jun-25 09:20:50

Happy birthday Merlotgran, it’s taken me so long to type my post I missed yours!

BlueSapphire Thu 12-Jun-25 09:21:05

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, rain showers forecast this afternoon. I was hoping to cut the back grass today but may not have time before the showers as I have a Sainsbury's delivery this morning.

A lovely day in Milton Keynes yesterday, meeting up with Maw again. We enjoyed a morning of shopping followed by an Italian lunch and wine 🍷and much chat. I bought a new T shirt but only paid half of it as I had a £5 voucher. I also treated myself to the M&S summer.beauty bag, which seems very good value.

A morning of pottering then the Sainsbury's delivery. If we get the promised showers then it will be an afternoon of reading.

So sorry to read your sad news Bellasnana.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

cornergran Thu 12-Jun-25 09:23:23
