It’s confession time - do you also have a silly pet name for your dog or cat? My dog is currently known as Biddly Boodles, (previously known as Boo Diddly), for no obvious reason whatsoever, neither bear any resemblance to his actual name at all.

Yup, Stanley gets called by lots of different silly names fortunately he's pretty long suffering and generally ignores the indignity of being called Scoochie, Scrunchie or some other ridiculous name. He also gets called some extremely impolite names when he's a naughty terrier but we'll ignore those ( he does too!).

My cat is called Mia and she gets called Me-me-me-me-Mia, or Pudkins at times. My previous lovely cat (bless her) was named Phoebe but I often called her Pheeble-Beebles.

My large, dignified ginger cat went by the official name of Topaz but his silly name was Spriggy after Spriggy Topes. I had another cat called Woolsey who was always called Wootie Woo.

Our cats are Freja and Astrid but one is Fray and the other Whitey because she has a white nose. They are twins and look very similar except for that nose on Astrid.

I won't repeat what I call my tortoise when she tramples all my lovely plants and eats the vegetables in my garden!! My brother used to call her "Meat Pie with legs" when we were younger...

My cat is called Jaffa but my husband (who pretends not to love him) calls him Jaffa Cakes or Captain. Our previous cat was Mr Cooper, aka Coopy

My cat - Harley Catfish

Our cat is Milly and gets Milly Moos, the dog is Bailey and gets Bailey Boos. When I walk the dog I call her Babs but when my son comes in from work he calls them both Stink! 😂

My cat Timothy went through Timmy, Timminy to Timbo.

I'm on the floor laughing here at all your replies and the hilarious meme from Casdon!

I've had many cats and dogs over the years all with actual names then nicknames. A little b/w kitten, years ago was named Duncan but I called him hunky Duncy and Dunc the hunk and he answered to them both!

My Collie-cross, Sheeba was Floppy Ears.

I had a small Goldfish who I called Little Fatty even though he wasn't fat at all!

I couldn't possibly post the nickname of my grand-dog as it would 'out' me and the family! 😁
Suffice it to say it suits him.

My cat Bugsie is usually Buggles, Buggly Wuggly or bugger-lugs.

I have to admit to referring to one of them as a little fhit when she stole my drivers license and ran round with it in her mouth. She listened, though and dropped it!

My two have perfectly sensible cat names but one I call Baby Wabey or Baby I know, I know, and the other I call Minnie Winnie.
They are sisters.

I used to live in Hackney in London. Our cats were Llewellyn and Rhiannon.
See me at feeding time shouting out over the back garden;

Rhiannon! Llewellyn! Food!

Our last cat (Squeak) was commonly known as Squidgy Boy. We’d acquired a Bubble at the same time but sadly she didn’t last long.

We used to have a dog called Bonkers - it was in fact his name, bestowed by former owners.

PS, oddest dog’s name I heard was Richard, a Dalmatian belonging to a near neighbour. Younger brother was also Richard so it could get a bit confusing when one or the other was being called.

Mine are all called 'sweetheart'.

One of my previous cats actually had the name of BB, short for Black B-gg-r. Unfortunately she went missing and was never found.

We have never had a bought pet, always rescues, both dogs and cats. When you welcome an adopted pet into your home, their individual characteristics and uniqueness are quite clear, and the names just come naturally.

Minou our current cat, was found severely injured and totally wild. Took me months to tame him and be able to take him to the vet, and we always thought he would have to be pts, as he was in so much pain. So we called him Minou- the equivalent of 'puss' in English- as we never expected him to live and be our beloved pet cat. That was 8 years ago and he is now about 9 or 10. And Minou he will always be.

Our previous 2 cats were 'Pudding' as she was a large grey and white cat with a big hanging belly - we had her 23 years, so she was at least 25 or more when she died, having made the big move with us. She was found by the M1/M69 jct- with many kittens and another small female in sealed cardboard box! b****rds! Kittens fed willy nilly from either mum when in foster home. Little black one was so so soft, never felt such a soft cat- so Silky she became obviously.

Milo is sometimes known as Milo the Milo. Ripley is Rip, Rippers or Ripples. Both cats are called sweet cheeks.

My little rescue is called Roo.

So she gets called Roo-Roo or Tabatha (which is the name of my previous little queen 🙄.

She of course ignores Tabitha.

Salem, the smallest of our cats, also goes by the name of Meep, because that’s the sound she makes when she’s after a treat. Midnight is also known as Midi or Missy. Freddie is sometimes called Fwedewick and Lenny is Lennylennylen.

Tragic news just now, Yuki the cockerpoo will join our family tonight. My friend has had him from a puppy, but she has lost her battle with cancer and her children can't have him. I so hope it will all work out with Yata and Minou. We never expected to be asked. He is 3 years old.

Two of the cats get called Chicken Pie nothing to do with either real name, just an endearment .

Moo has black and white patches like a cow, hence his name but I call him MooMoo . I’ve had him 18 months and he still doesn’t respond to his name (he’s not very bright bless him!)

His sister Cleo only gets called that but responds to it instantly she’s much brighter but I think she has the equivalent of cat ADHD. Never a dull moment on our house!
