Good Morning Everyone ,
Its bright but looking grey over brackley at the moment.
Today , I will stay 2 reasons I suffered yesterday with number 2 ,and saw me ringing to cancel my visual fields test at the Horton, Banbury
I will do a few household things and watch cycling later on TV.
Take Care,
Mick

grandMattie Sat 14-Jun-25 05:41:33

Good morning from a grey Bristol.
Iris came home yesterday after passing the stair test to the physios satisfaction.
DS got back in the late afternoon after a long, long journey. He said that everyone at the Indian airports (Mumbai, Delhi) was very jittery, especially security, after that dreadful Air India crash that morning. I’m hoping to see him today.
Nothing much happening. Church coffee, possible visit to DS.
I hope your weekend is pleasant. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and very wet. Mick I hope you feel better soon. GrandMattie it'll be nice to see your son.
Yesterday was my second eye op. I was there for eight and was second on the list. The actual operation was much quicker than the first and less uncomfortable too. The rest of the day was spent quietly. Dd came in for a coffee after she picked me up. I slept for a couple of hours in the afternoon and went to bed early.
Today will be quiet too. I have a bit of discomfort but that'll ease off with painkillers. Have a good day all

grandMattie Sat 14-Jun-25 06:14:37

Glad that the op went well, gmb. It’s much less daunting than one imagines, isn’t it?

Ashcombe Sat 14-Jun-25 06:14:45

Good morning from a breezy Torbay where the sun is trying to appear following a wet night.

I hope you feel better as the day goes on, Mick.

No doubt Iris is glad to be home, grandMattie and I hope she continues to make good progress as you all enjoy seeing your DS.
Best wishes for your recovery, Grandmabatty. It’s rare for you to have a quiet day!

We have our monthly church Coffee Morning after which I might treat myself to a pasty from my local bakery. They are available in a range of sizes and I always find the smallest one is more than enough for a decent meal with some salad, beetroot and coleslaw.

Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Morning Mick, morning All from a warm, cloudy corner of Somerset.

Volunteering was fun yesterday morning, unpleasantly swollen eyes from hay fever kept me indoors in the afternoon. This morning I look as if I’ve been in a fight. Oh dear.

Quiet day ahead. I’ll watch the events in London and carry on pottering.

Pleased all is well grandmab. Keep resting! Sounds as if you also need to rest mick. Good news your son has arrived safely grandmattie.

Have the best day you can everyone. Stay safe if the forecast storms strike.

Bellasnana Sat 14-Jun-25 06:19:25

Good morning from a sunny Malta where the high will reach 38°C today.

Sorry you had a bad day yesterday Mick. A wise decision to stay put today. Hope you feel better.

Glad to hear Iris is home and hope she recovers soon from her surgery.

Pleased to hear all went well for your cataract surgery Grandmabatty. You are very brave. I’m squeamish about eyes and the thought of having them fiddled with scares me to death!

The boys were very good yesterday, went off with daddy to do their concert. He said they didn’t join in with the singing, just stood looking overwhelmed. Poor little chaps, I’m with them on that. Always loathed having to ‘perform’ in public!😄

I’m a bit miffed with DD3. Monday is a school holiday for her so I thought I also had a day off but she informed me she still needs me as she wants to run errands.

Today I shall catch up with my own jobs around the house. It doesn’t take long as I only have a small place. Just need the motivation to get started! I’m so tired these days, I’m sure it’s the heat and Father Time conspiring against me.😴

Hope you all have a good day.☀️

Good morning everyone from cloudy Birmingham.
Hope you feel better soon, Mick. Good to hear Iris is home and also that your eye op went to plan, Grandmabatty. Take it easy today.

Chatting with DD last night about the plane crash and she said the office had a subdued atmosphere yesterday. A lot of her colleagues are from India so they fly back and forth to see family. Although statistically flying is very safe, if something goes wrong then the results can be catastrophic.
There but for the grace of God.

Off to the Gardener's World show this morning. I'm looking forward to getting lots of ideas and seeing the floral marquee.
Have a good day everyone. 🌻

Good morning, it’s a dull start to Saturday here in south Glos. 17° already so feels humid too.
I was out before 7 yesterday morning with tiddler, we walked with a friend and her little dog called Betty, a scruffy pooch with bushy eyebrows who reminds me of Dennis Healy.
It was muggy but we didn’t get the thunderstorms that were forecast.
Usual housework stuff and the washing dried very quickly, always a bonus.
I spent the afternoon in my Shed, tiddler happily snoozing and snoring as usual, she’s my shadow bless her! Bigger dog sometimes joins us but she prefers the settee I think.
We’ll do a good walk this morning so if it’s too warm we will skip a later one, they won’t mind, heading for the village and through the lanes and along the bridleway I think.
Good to hear Iris is home grandMattie, and that your son has arrived safely.
Have a restful weekend GMB, take it steady.

Enjoy the weekend if you can 🌹

Good morning from s somerset, we are expecting thunderstorms today

I am still in my happy sewing mojo and will take full advantage today. I cut a different dress pattern out yesterday, the fabric is viscose satin and will be a toile. The fabric was a giveaway at 3m for £6.

itch-to-stitch.com/product/vikos-top-dress-digital-sewing-pattern-pdf/?doing_wp_cron=1749879030.5779740810394287109375

The stairs might will be my exercise route today, I am up and down them umpteen times in a day but it I get a clear sky, I will definitely go for a quick walk

Have a good day

'Good' Morning from Mid-Lancs where it has just stopped pelting down mightily.

On the upside, I hope the general damp will put paid to my Barbecue-fanatical neighbour's burnt offering activities. The stink of cheap firelighters and even cheaper burning chipolatas (50% sawdust) is a smell to behold........

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 14-Jun-25 07:07:10

Morning all from an already muggy West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday’s trip to London went from the ridiculous to the sublime. The Summer Exhibition was slightly underwhelming. I may or may not buy a small print. Younger son and I then went to the Cartier exhibition at the V&A. That was amazing. I dread to think what the total cost of all the magnificent jewels is. We had a delicious lunch at our favourite steak restaurant - three courses and a gimlet! Sadly, in the taxi in my way to the restaurant I had a call from a friend. He told me that another friend’s husband had suffered a massive stroke. He is still with us but very seriously ill.

OH’s bees are still causing him angst. The new Queen he bought and thought had been accepted by the other bees was nowhere to be seen.

Have a good day. So glad that Iris is home and that GM’s son landed safely.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It grey and cool in South Yorkshire this morning. Bliss! One forecast says it will rain around midday; the other says no rain at all. DD and the menfolk are back from their Yorkshire Dales jaunt. They climbed Ingleborough in clear ish weather and GS said that from the top they could see Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea (the tide must have been in😄!).
I’m not sure what I will do today. If it stays dry, I will clean the car and then have a walk round the top of our valley. If not I’ll clean the windows in the conservatory. The garden is overrun with young sparrows at the moment - I think there is a “terrace” in one of my hedges. They still all have their L plates on - a few are being fed by parents. They’re a joy to watch.
Have the best day you can, folks.

brook2704 Sat 14-Jun-25 07:19:04

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s warm but cloudy with some light rain in the air
Pleased Iris is back home now gMattie and your DS back safely
I’m not sure what we’re doing yet today, but probably a trip to DD2s and maybe a garden centre will happen later. Someone is supposed to be calling round at lunchtime to collect a couple of bedside tables that I’ve sold online. Hopefully they’ll turn up
Pleased to hear all went well yesterday grandmabatty
Enjoy the Gardeners World show latedecember, I’d love to go there
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Redcar Sat 14-Jun-25 07:22:09

Good morning from mid Essex. I think we missed the worst of the thunderstorms last night, although there were a few rumbles. Not sure how much rain we had, but the garden looks as though it’s had a drink!
Had my usual walk yesterday morning, followed by the lunchtime bingo session. Good to catch up with friends, even if I didn’t win anything.
grandmattie I’m sure you will enjoy seeing your son again. Good that Iris is home, I hope she makes a speedy recovery.
mick I hope your stomach calms down today.
grandmabatty good that your operation went well and that you weren’t kept waiting too long. Take it easy this week.

Not sure what to do today, a walk to the postbox in the village to post another birthday card, the last of the June birthdays! Then I may have to do some ironing and cleaning, boring but necessary!
Have the best day possible everyone, whatever the weather throws at us!

RosieandherMaw Sat 14-Jun-25 07:28:04

Good morning from N Bucks where the forecast is for sun but there’s a fine misty drizzle which is lovely! It was sticky last night and I was glad of my Dyson fan in my bedroom. I think Rosie appreciated it in her corner too.
Waitrose are due to deliver from 8 - why do I ever think that’s a good time when I place the order? After that no fixed plans for today -I always enjoy watching a bit of the Trooping of the Colour and thinking about its historical origins , so much of the military ceremonial we see is based on very practical considerations in the past.
You will indeed be glad to have your DS back with you Grandmattie. Am I right in thinking he is looking at a job closer to home? Mainland Europe?
Wishing a pleasant Saturday to you all.

Good morning from Shropshire. After a night of torrential rain a sunny day is forecast.

Yesterday was exhausting. We had the car window repaired and spent the day in Shrewsbury so were tired by the time we collected the children from school. They were tired too so a couple of hours drawing and playing with playmobil then an early night for all.

H is already up and drawing.M is still fast asleep. No plans, just take the day as it comes.

Good news that Iris and Grandmabatty are both recovering at home and that grandMattie’s son is safely home.

Hope you feel better as the day goes on and hoping we hear from Marydoll today.

Have a good day everyone🦩🌻

grandMattie Sat 14-Jun-25 07:40:27

Rosie and, absolutely not. DS already has a job he’s going to in Moshi, Tanzania, in the Kilimanjaro foothills! He hates the British weather and is seriously footloose, sadly with no woman (or man) in his life

EkwaNimitee Sat 14-Jun-25 07:45:13

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very wet Carlisle. I was awoken fairly early by a mild thunderstorm and very heavy rain. It might be clearing up, if so, it will be out for a walk and the paper, if not, I'll do without as I'm not getting the car out for just that. It will be a day in front of the computer and a new book.

Yesterday I did the ironing and worked in the garden for a while. I've given up on my runner beans. I hardened them off too quickly and then the little slugs went for them. This garden is proving unfriendly to runner beans! My peas are doing brilliantly though.
Having sweated it out in the garden for an hour, I came in to try out a recipe from a new cookery book...beetroot brownies. They were very tasty but will have to go in the garage freezer away from temptation. The recipe was from a 'healthy' cookbook, but are large amounts of sugar, olive oil and ground almonds healthy?! There was no calorie count and I really didn't want to know! Just an experiment not to be repeated, I need to lose weight.

I hope you improve Mick and have better days from now on.

And have a good weekend all of you if possible.

Grammaretto Sat 14-Jun-25 07:49:10

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
There's just been a loud thunder clap and it's dark and gloomy.
DD has a wedding to photograph today 😞.

More book purging yesterday. I managed to deliver a car full to the charity. Much more to go.

My Helper broke the news that while I was visiting DD, he had confronted intruders. He heard noises and found 2 lads in the house. He dealt with the situation better than I would have done but didn't call the police. They said they thought the house was empty!

Community café today and more book sorting.

You must be very glad to have your son back safely gM and Iris home.

So good to have your cataract operation over with Grandmabatty
Can you see well through both eyes now?

Great sewing skills Karmalady
I agree about those exhibitions Llfl

I hope everyone has some joy today.

luluaugust Sat 14-Jun-25 07:49:30

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. DB arriving today to celebrate his 75th birthday which is later in the week.
I shall be preparing to cook lunch tomorrow for rather a lot of people.
Glad the op went well GMB
Best wishes to all

ginny Sat 14-Jun-25 07:50:28

Good morning everyone.
A small food shop first this morning .
Later DD2 and I will be touring local gardens as it’s Open Aten weekend locally. Hope it stays dry.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

BlueSapphire Sat 14-Jun-25 07:52:15

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, but sunshine 🌞 is forecast later. I fell asleep in the armchair yesterday evening and woke up at 2.30am! Upstairs to bed and had no trouble falling asleep again.

Enjoyed my three dance classes yesterday and had intended to cut the front grass when I got home, but decided it was too hot, so cleaned the kitchen, read the newspaper, did the puzzle page and.prepared dinner. Have decided I needed to read some Jane Austen again, so downloaded the complete set of her books onto my Kindle. Price and Prejudice first I think.

Shopping later this morning; I need some fresh fruit and other things, so a trip on the bus for me.
Off to toast a crumpet!

Have a pleasant day everyone.

Liberty Sat 14-Jun-25 07:56:13

Good morning from a bright sunny Suffolk after torrential rain and thunderstorms in the early hours.

It is more than 2 weeks since I last posted when I was about to make an unexpected trip up north to see my dearest sister. I had planned to go later but she suddenly became very ill. I managed to get there only minutes before she died. It was very peaceful for her and as she would have wanted. Her terminal cancer meant we all knew that her time on earth was limited but she died much more suddenly than anyone expected.

Her funeral is at the end of the month. DH and I are going to the Lake District on Monday for a short holiday, planned several months ago and that should help with the sadness we are feeling as it is a part of the world my sister loved.

I’ll be thinking of you all, probably in absentia, for a little while.

Grandmabatty Sat 14-Jun-25 07:59:03

Grammaretto the vision in my new eye is already nearly as good as the first eye. It's slightly blurred but improving. My first eye was checked yesterday and the nurse was impressed by how much I could see on the chart. So was I !
Do you have a burglar alarm? That's quite worrying
