Good morning from an overcast Bristol.
I woke up around 4 am and the birds were already singing their little hearts out.
As expected I had a quiet day yesterday. The church service was a bit “modern” for my taste.
I’ve started the quilt for my DGS, very monochrome but that’s what he likes.
WI this afternoon, with belly dancers - goodness knows what’s in store.
I hope this new week is kind to you all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning Michael and all GNs. My iPad is as flat as a pancake so typing on my phone is slow going. The sun heralds another clear dry day. Indeed a clear dry week by the look of it. We are desperate for rain.
Yesterday’s walk at NT Longshaw was lovely. Went early and had breakfast in the lovely cafe, and had a good walk with superb views. We ran into a small group of wild red deer hinds grazing in the hay meadow. There’s quite a large wild herd there now. You never know where you’re going to come across them.
A quiet day at home for me today. Some cleaning and I must put petrol in the car.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Ashcombe Mon 16-Jun-25 05:46:19

Good morning from a bright and sunny Torbay.

It’s pleasing to know you feel well enough to be out on the buses again, Mick.

Another lovely quilt, grandMattie!
A well captured shot, Greyduster.

Yesterday, I finally caught up with some ironing and changed the bed, chores that a few months ago, I thought I’d never be able to complete again. I am looking forward to seeing DH who is due to arrive tomorrow evening. (DV) I have my Move It Or Lose It class today.

I hope today is kind to everyone. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is forecast with a high of 36°C.

Met my friend for coffee yesterday then joined DD3 and family for lunch. The boys looked very smart in flowery shirts sent by DD1 from a trip to Hawaii!

I had swordfish for lunch which was delicious.

DD3 looked shocked when I told her I would not be going over today but didn’t argue, thank goodness! Thanks to you all for your support, I’m not sure I’d have had the guts to say no without your encouragement!

I’m going to go out early to try to avoid the worst of the heat. I do love the heat but not being out at the height of it. ‘Mad dogs and Englishmen etc,’😂

Hopefully some decent tennis to watch from Queen’s this afternoon. I might treat myself to a cake with my tea.

Glad to hear you are feeling so much better Ash. You’ve made such good progress. 💐

Wishing a good day to all .☀️

Good morning from a grey midlands.
Sciatica at its worst this morning and also a sore mouth which I’ve had for a week now. Heading out for a walk soon to relieve the sciatica.
An upsetting day yesterday with estrangement etc.
Hugs to all suffering.

grandMattie Mon 16-Jun-25 06:20:48

Wonderful news, Ash. I’m so very happy for you.
Bellasnana, I’m pleased that despite being shocked, your DD realised that she was being a bit unreasonable. Enjoy your day off.

Georgesgran Mon 16-Jun-25 06:25:09

Good morning from Durham. Cooler outside - it’s going to improve, but no rain. A relaxed day yesterday, other than some cleaning , 3 loads of laundry and a long dog walk.
I’m meeting a friend for our usual Monday coffee at 10, then later, I have a Valuer coming to give me a ballpark figure on the house - really just a guide for future reference.
I’ll walk DD2’s Little Dog before dark.
DGS2 is having a whale of a time in Majorca, he’s decided he’s going to try a short session at the ‘kids club’ having asked what it is.

Best wishes to all. X

Morning Mick, morning All. A sunny start to the day

A relaxed day ahead for us. A short walk and that’s about it before settling to read in the sun.

Good to hear you’ll be out and about mick, you’re so much stronger ash and you stuck to your guns bellasnana. That will be a striking quilt grandmattie.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning everyone!
Didn't get round to reading or typing yesterday as saw DD in the morning and then travelling home in the afternoon.
The train from Birmingham to Manchester was packed. (I think it had started from Bristol.) Fortunately we had booked seats that we were able to get to, but several people were grumbling that they couldn't get through the throng to get to seats they had booked.
Yesterday was the final day of Parklife at Heaton Park and the Unicef Soccer Aid match at Old Trafford so why extra carriages weren't put on defies belief. As we pulled into Piccadilly Station a voice over the tannoy thanked us for our patience with the "exceptionally" busy train conditions. "Uh, duh", as the kids would say!

The Gardener's World show was fabulous! Lots of gorgeous plants to see and knowledgeable stall holders to talk to. We gave DD a bonsai azelea for her birthday and she had a chat with a local bonsai soc rep who was delighed to hear she lived in Birmingham and encouraged her to go along to their meetings.
I was very restrained and just got a couple of small succulents and a bottle brush plant as I was conscious that whatever I got had to come jome by train.
We listened to a very interesting talk with Adam Frost about how he became a gardener and the people who have influenced his career. Geoff Hamilton was an early employer an he had nothing but praise for how he took him under his wing.
I hadn't expected it to be so big, but it was easily as big as RHS Tatton. Our tickets also gave us access to the BBC Summer Good Food Show, but we only gave that a fairly quick look because we were flagging.

Enjoy your free day, Bellasnana. When I was pregnant with DS my mum made it very clear that she would not be doing any childcare or babysitting and resolutely stuck to her word. My PiL gave us some help to allow me to work, but that meant we never asked them to babysit so we could go out socially as we felt they'd done enough. DH's siblings had no such qualms and, like you, my PiL didn't like to say no.
Have a super day everyone and take care. 🌻

Good morning, a bright start for me here in south Glos, I will be heading out shortly for the first dog walk with tiddler then take bigger dog out before it’s too hot.
Yesterday’s walk was lovely but too warm for tiddler; not leaving until DH is ready is really too late in warm weather and this week’s forecast is 29° by Thursday according to the local forecast 🥵. That’s far too hot for me too! So, double the walking but out when it’s cooler.

I spent several hours yesterday happily starting another drawing, definitely my favourite art form at the moment. More of that later after I get the ironing out of the way.
DH says he’s going kayaking sometime this week, he’ll ‘let me know on the day….’

As he’s also out all day tomorrow so I’ve decided to have a week of eating delicious salads (he doesn’t like salad…) and he’s agreed with getting his own meals. A whole week of no cooking! Bliss.

Enjoy the sunshine if you can 🌹

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s dry warm and sunny. Another sunny and warm (hot?) week ahead. Despite last week’s rain, the ground is dry again. I struggled to dig deep enough holes to put a few more plants in the front garden yesterday. DD2 and family called in during the morning, prior to going to watch the Ladies cricket match at the County Ground in the afternoon with her sister and her family.
Dentist for me this morning, but hopefully I’ll have time for my usual walk before I go. I have a long list of things to do, so will work my way through that after the dentist.
grandmattie that quilt looks interesting!
ash you must be really pleased with your progress these last few months.
bellasnana enjoy your day off!
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. British Gas are due any minute we are having a new gas boiler installed. I hate mess and tradesmen in the house thank goodness it looks a nice day and I can retreat to the garden!

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from s somerset, it is going to be a beautiful day

Busy yesterday, I never intended to be so busy but it happens. I made bottomed the ensuite and cloakroom first, made soup then went on a cycle ride before sewing after lunch. I strolled around my garden and I realised that there were lots of blackcurrants ready to be picked. I did that the old way, cut off branches near the base and stood and picked like that. Not the proper way but it works. Two of the bushes look sparce of branches now but they grow again

Lots of unripe berries will ripen on the ground for the birds and all the branches are now cut small for the allotment compost heap. I picked over 5lb of blackcurrants for the freezer

A short visit to the allotment today, to feed a compost bin and pick strawberries. Craft group later

Bellasnana well done

Have a good day

Good morning from a sunny S E Essex.

Our holiday was just what we needed, we were busy doing nothing Now I just need to get over the jet lag.

Off to the gym first thing and then I will begin the ironing.

Enjoy your day off Bellasnana

Lovely quilt GM

Pleased you are feeling better Mick and Ascombe

🙋‍♀️

why extra carriages weren't put on defies belief

latedecember1963: I understand your frustration but it’s not that easy now. My husband worked for BR all his life. Since privatisation, companies do not have spare rolling stock available for such occasions.

Good morning everyone from a very bright and very sunny 🌞 Northampton; a very fine week ahead is forecast.

Up early because it's yoga first thing. Will have just enough time to write this before I need to get ready.

The film (Jane Austen Wrecked my Life), yesterday wasn't really what I expected; I'd thought it would.be a rom-com but it was more like a romantic drama, plus, it was a French film. Supposed.to be set in France and England, the English scenes were very obviously filmed in France. However, it passed a couple of pleasant hours, and all ended well, as per an Austen novel! And as it was part of my free ticket allowance, didn't cost me anything either!

Nothing much planned.today; I may do some washing when I get back from yoga, and then after lunch will get a Bolognese in the slow cooker. Then the plan is to sit in the garden and read more of Pride and Prejudice. I had read all the other Austen books, but to my shame had somehow missed out on that one!

Wishing all a pleasant day in the lovely sunshine 🌞 🌞.

Sunny good morning from heart of London.
Hope you all have enjoyable day

latedecember1963 Mon 16-Jun-25 07:29:06

Thank you, Ashcombe, I hadn't realised that was the issue. Even though it doesn't change the circumstances, in future at least I'll have an understanding of why it is that way. 🚉

Gingster Mon 16-Jun-25 07:35:38

Good morning all and it’s going to be another lovely one. Not too hot but pleasant.

Yesterday was lovely , son and daughter in law came for coffee and a chat in the morning., ds1 has been given an ice bath for Father’s Day so we saw lots of vids of him later in the day. He says his toes are still numb ! 🥶.

Dd and dgd6 came for lunch and we had lots of laughs and happiness. We made smoothies with ice cream and sat out in the garden with DGD serving us from her ‘pop up’ cafe. 😉.
Dh joined us after watching the tennis and golf.

Not much on today , just transferring money at the bank and Dh taking the car to the garage for an oil change. I think he’ll be ok ! 🙏.

I’m glad your holiday was restful and relaxing GG. Welcome back. 🤗.

I hope you all have a lovely day, whatever it brings.

glammagran Mon 16-Jun-25 07:38:41

Good morning from currently overcast Wiltshire.

DD2 invited us over for tea as it was Father’s Day and gave her dad some craft beer. DGD3 gave him a hand made card featuring a game of Solitaire, one of her favourite activities. We sat in their very hot garden. The new undercover construction is almost complete and flooring finished. Other GP’s are giving them wisteria plants and a grapevine to grow up it. When we went DGS2 asked me not to go home as we could stay for ever and ever and live in the trampoline. 😂 He’s not overly given to saying things like that as we are usually ignored by him when we go unlike his sister. All was calm without any fights between the GC’s.

I’m glad you stood your ground Bella and had a nice lunch out. I’ve also felt put upon at times. I’m happy for you having your DH back with you tomorrow Ash.

Have a good Monday.

Good morning everyone from Inverness, we’ve a mix of blue sky and light grey cloud and if feels warm
Yesterday evening we enjoyed watching DGD in her dance show, she did really well and it was lovely to see her looking so happy. Today I’m off to the gym for a couple of classes and then gardening
whywhywhy hope you feel a bit better today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Cleaning lady this morning and a pile of washing and ironing for me
Happy family day yesterday for my DB’s birthday and Father’s Day although the large scale cooking is a lot now without a good deal of help, which I got. Great to see DGS3 which was a surprise
Best wishes

Grandmabatty Mon 16-Jun-25 07:53:36

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and dry. The breeze has died down. I'm glad you are having a day off Bellasnana. You deserve it! Ashcombe it's nice to hear you so positive. GrandMattie I like the sound of that quilt.
Yesterday I got dressed and did dishes, read a bit and watched tv.
Today will be much the same. I might run the hoover over which won't take long. Have a good day all

EkwaNimitee Mon 16-Jun-25 08:10:16

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
It turned grey and showery yesterday afternoon so I wasn't tempted into the garden. I had a rest day, just pootling around at this and that, nothing serious...I made some scones, read magazines and did puzzles etc, more a rest day for the body not the brain,
Today will be housework and laundry in the morning and, hopefully, out in the garden this afternoon. I have 2 plants to hack in. I'd like to get to the garden centre this week as I have one or two spaces to fill and need some sacks of bark also.

Do have the best possible day all of you.
