Funerals - each one is different now

I have just been to the funeral of someone I once knew. It was set in a chapel but no hymns or prayers. There was some beautiful poetry, a daughter singing and playing the guitar about her loved Mum, and a slideshow of my friend’s
life. Her husband spoke of her life and what she had achieved and some of her brothers and sisters also spoke. It was very lovely but no spiritual dimension whatsoever. I was surprised because of it being in a church. Every funeral I have been to recently has been different, one of them even had Beatles music playing and we left to the strains of Yellow Submarine which was a bit weird . Is it the same in the UK or is it just here in Australia?

I am leaving it to my children to make the decision about how to dispose of my remains after I die. Only then will they know what method and how much ceremony they want. I will not be around to care one way or the other.

ViceVersa

Viceversa I think I read that the co op funeral service were starting to offer it. Or maybe it was they were planning to. Might be worth asking if it's important you.

As far as I understand it, the Co-op would like to offer the service, but it hasn't yet been approved for use in the UK. It's a very environmentally friendly option.

I knew I'd read something about the co-op. Maybe won't be long.

My DH wants direct cremation with no memorial or anything. Makes me feel sad.

I want full Mass, I've picked my hymns. Then at the crem I want Sprit in the Sky.
