Just had a few ups and downs this weekend and felt grumpy rarely happens, I m usually fairly even
Anyway hopefully a better day tomorrow

I hope tomorrow is a happier day for you BlueBell, and better TV. All this sport is overwhelmingly too much

I have spent the evening watching Mary Beard 'meeting the Romans' (?) followed by Miss Marple, 'The Body in the Library.'

I feel the same about Foyles War and Grantchester.

I’ve just watched a dire (in my opinion) adaptation of Rebecca on Netflix - no idea why I didn’t just switch it off!

Think of the too much sport on TV and noisy happy/clappy Saturday offerings as the supreme deity’s way of getting us to read more or listen to radio/podcasts.

Saturday Tv imo (Casualty included I’m afraid) has been one long yawn fest for at least twenty years now. But I really appreciate catchup for variety especially BBC iplayer.

We are watching ELO on BBC2, not my favourite band but thoroughly enjoying it.

You know, I’ve never like ELO ( feel bad about that being a Brummie). But it was on in the background while I was pottering away in different rooms and I thought to myself ‘ I rather like this’. I was pleased to find it was on the BBC as I want to rewatch it properly ( I’m always wanting to rewatch music stuff on Sky Arts but have to wait till it’s eventually repeated). It’s his really well known songs that I’ve never liked but the others sound great. What a lovely, self effacing chap he is as well. Especially as his dad worked for Birmingham Council as did I ( I wonder if I ever met him? his dad, that is..). There was a night of Blondie stuff last night: I think that was BBC. What I found disconcerting was that, when they reformed I thought how old Debbie Harry looked. But, watching them years later with me being much older, she didn’t look old at all back then .I did struggle to watch it, though, because they interviewed Clem Burke a lot and I’m still really upset that he’s died .

Bluebelle Oh I know what you meant. We go through the Radio Times, when it comes, and circle anything we might like to see. There are very often quite a few circle free pages lately. So we watch, iplayer and Netflix and the occasional news .

I know Wimbledon is every year for two weeks and I can accept this, but women's football and some football tournament from America at the same time, smacks of overkill and I thought the season ended in May.
OK I was born 9 miles from Newcastle and should have a strong opinion about Newcastle or Sunderland, but I've never liked football. I couldn't play it as a kid, couldn't stand a lot of the yobbish, boring fans who couldn't talk about anything else, and the whole overkill with it in the last 30 years.

Yes thank goodness for Netflix. I can easily spend the whole evening scrolling through hundreds of offerings which are compartmentalised in my brain as -

-don't fancy that
-that might be ok but I'll just see if there's anything better
-seen that
-think I've seen that
-not sure if I've seen that, so I'll try and it and find, yes, I have seen it
-think I'll try the one I noticed earlier but can't now find it
-remind myself to put things on my list if I'm not sure

then it's time for bed!

I'm watching "U" atm... It's free to view.
We like the Chelsea Detective, The one with Emily Fox in, Outrageous was brilliant, all easy viewing.
And just finishing Department Q on Netflix that was a total binge! Loved that, hope they do a follow up.

Next year is the World Cup, now with 48 teams in. I'm going to book 2 weeks off work in June, so I can avoid the last two weeks of it.

Absolutely, wholeheartedly agree. We are watching re-runs of Gently on NF - so much more entertaining. There are those of us who are really, really, really not interested in sport!

Agree land TV is diabolical especially on Sat pm.
Even Netflix is getting difficult to find anything new and engrossing. Did enjoy North Shore and Q, but struggling now.
Thank goodness for tennis. Our highlight of the year. Pass the strawberries!

I started watching that, but it looked rather dreary, not keen on Vicky McClure either, so switched off and went to bed to read my library book. Did it turn out to be good though?

Wished I had started watching the Live Aid programme on BBC. Will catch up with it on I player.

I had completely forgotten that they did "We are the World" in the US. And that Paul McCartney's mic failed. And apparently Geldorf never actually said "Give us the f$%^&%g money" it morphed it's way into pop culture via something else he said.

Lots of jogging of the memories from those heady times!

We watched the new puzzler murder drama on demand on channel 5……. watched all three episodes now. We did find it rather silly in places to be honest and I can’t help wondering if it was written by the same author as McDonald & Dodds or Professor T as it had a similar vibe to it.
