Has anyone come across the compulsory tests for people wishing to obtain British Citizenship? There are sample test papers available online.

I have done several and I didn't find them very easy but perhaps that is just me.

There’s a very funny prologue in Bill Brysons book ‘ The Road to Little Dribbling ‘that talks about him taking the test.

I passed with 79% but there were some absolutely stupid questions there. Enough that I certainly wouldn’t want to live there again. That and the current political mess, rather live in Beijing.

I didn't fail any of the ones I tried, but some questions were ambiguously , unclearly or simply incorrectly worded.

And some of them had nothing to do with Britain or the UK

My Australian son in law took the test and passed. I found it really difficult.

My DIL aced it. She's an American, one of the questions when she took it was "can you speak English".

What was nice few months after there was a lovely ceremony and I believe the local Mayor presented the certificate 's to the successful recipients.

In the US ,I was asked where I came from as the lady "loved my accent" I replied I was from England. She then asked "Where"s that". Would she have been able to confirm that she spoke English?
