Nice to see you back madeleine and belated birthday greetings 💐

RosieandherMaw Sun 20-Jul-25 10:39:14

Good morning from N Bucks where it is grey and damp but somehow still manages to feel sticky.
I’m off out for a late Sunday lunch with another friend on her own but not until 2 so it gives me a lovely long lazy morning.
My trip to London turned out clear and sunny after torrential rain, the M11 was scary going down but it all cleared up and D and I were able to take the little boys to the park just round the corner to meet up with D2, SIL and Flynn who were also there at another little boy’s birthday picnic. I love the way all the children know each other possibly because this park is beside their school and very much a centre in the “young family” community.
I shan’t see them again until our holiday in France mid- August (if that transpires for me, pending a diagnosis 🤞🤞) and D2 and family won’t be coming back at all as they will then go straight on to their Paris flat and Flynn will start school on 1 September.
So sad about your little Buzz Bellasnana I know how heartbreaking these losses are. 💔
Kind thoughts to you and all who may be sad, in pain or distress.

Good morning all

Happy anniversary to you and your DH luluaugust 🥂
Happy Birthday to MrJ 🎂🍺

I’m very sorry to hear about Buzz Bellasnana

I’m going to have a pottering day after my and daughters previous two days of work. Up and down stairs a lot.

FGT I hope things are going better for you and himself is recovering. It is indeed a very worrying time xx

hollysteers Sun 20-Jul-25 10:23:41

Good morning from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Carried on with my ‘cloud’ acrylic painting yesterday and I frustrate myself. It starts off feeling easy peasy and gets more difficult. So true for so many things. I have one section right, have left it and now on to the next.

Watched a 1957 film with Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn where Coops looked more like her grandfather never mind her father. She looked about twelve, yuck.

Congrats Lulu and thoughts to Bella

GrannyGravy13 Sun 20-Jul-25 10:11:34

Good morning, I am still teen sitting.

We had a little shower a while ago, still grey and more rain is predicted.

Not sure what the plan is for today, will see what the GC are up to when they finally wake up.

Blossoming Sun 20-Jul-25 09:33:05

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.

MrB and I will be going for our daily walk shortly. It’s feeling very sultry so some fresh air and hopefully a sea breeze will be welcome. This afternoon I am going to tackle changing the bedding on my own! MrB will be standing by listening for bangs, crashes, screams and curses grin. Then I will probably fall asleep on top of the freshly made bed. Fortunately MrB will take charge of the laundry.

Happy Anniversary to you and your DH Luluaugust.

Glad the fête was a success GrandMattie.

A warm welcome to any new posters I may have missed.

Thinking of our poorly Grans and families, as always.

Have the best day you can everyone 🌹

Marydoll Sun 20-Jul-25 09:17:43

Have a lovely day Luluaugust

BlueSapphire Sun 20-Jul-25 09:03:14

Good morning everyone from a dull, grey and damp Northampton - shan't be.going anywhere today!
Stayed in all day yesterday, and in the afternoon watched a film of Jane Austen's Persuasion; was nearly in tears at the beautiful ending, swooning over Captain Wentworth - no-one can have deserved such happiness more than Anne - her family treated her so abominably. I must re-read the book.

Will be more catch-up TV today - I still have Northanger Abbey to watch! I will also try to watch the highlights of the Lions rugby yesterday, but as it will be in Welsh, hoping I can follow it.

Pork steaks for dinner tonight with new potatoes and some home-made apple sauce I unearthed from the freezer.

So sorry to hear about poor Buzz, Bellasnana, may he rest happy ever after in doggy heaven.

Wishing all a pleasant Sunday.

GrannySomerset Sun 20-Jul-25 09:01:26

DD and DSiL arrived yesterday and we are now getting ready to head for Yorkshire. It’s a long time since I left the house for several days and I keep thinking of things which need doing -like the recycling- and will need to revert to list making. Given the uncertainty of the weather I will need a larger suitcase but am sure it will all be fine.

Impressive activity already listed on this thread so hope everyone’s plans work out

merlotgran Sun 20-Jul-25 08:56:11

Good morning everyone from a cloudy and breezy south coast. We had quite a lot more rain during the night.
Today I need to give my spare room a good tidy up. DGD1 is moving next month and has offered me her small office desk which will be very useful as it has good storage but I need to make a few changes to the room before she delivers it next week. How I wish she and DD2 weren’t moving so far away, one to Bristol, one to Pembrokeshire. I will miss them but I’ve had them living nearby for four years so I can’t complain. Their lives are moving on.
Hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday.

Jaxjacky Sun 20-Jul-25 08:51:17

Morning from a damp S Hants - isn’t it lovely after weeks of no rain!
Happy Anniversary luluaugust 🥂 enjoy lunch out.
It’s MrJ’s 63rd birthday, he’ll be watching the golf and chef will be providing roast chicken for dinner as requested.
Yesterday the overnight rain cleared early, it was a day of doing ‘bits’ reading the paper and making a couple of phone calls.
Have a good Sunday, hoping himself is improving and other poorlies having a better day.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a fairly bright South Yorkshire. We landed here at one o’clock this morning after a seven hour drive down from Cairnryan. Fortunately SiL and DD took turns at the wheel. We finished our holiday at Titanic Belfast. I can’t begin to tell you what a lasting impression that will leave us all with. I was close to tears at the end.
Today will be spent unpacking and, hopefully, getting started on the laundry. We must have had a lot of rain here recently as the garden looks fairly healthy and the grass has gone into overdrive. My plum tree is a mass of purple fruit. Goodness knows what I’m going to do with it all as I have no freezer at the moment.
Bellas I’m so sorry to hear about Buzz. You can console yourself with the thought that he had the best life a dog can have.
Happy Anniversary to *Luluaugust and her DH🥂💐.
Have the best day you can folks.

Marydoll Sun 20-Jul-25 08:21:55

Good morning all from a very muggy and damp Glasgow. We have flood warning!

Bella such a sad time for you. 💐

Ouch Karma. I did something similar with a mandolin, my finger became seriously infected and my GP advised me to bin the mandolin! 😄

Baubles your comment made me smile. Reminds me of Dollie, who attends church under protest. 😉
Every week, she starts off sitting between her dad and papa, then half way through Mass, she moves between her mum and I.
Last night she was particularly affectionate, it just boosted my spirits. It is a wonderful feeling, to be loved unconditionally like that. 😍

Glad to hear the fête went well, GM. You must be exhausted.

Yesterday, I was feeling rather grim, and after a busy morning, I was making a cuppa, before getting ready for church, when I imagined I could hear Babydoll's voice.
I thought my hearing (or lack of it) was playing tricks, for I have tinnitus into the bargain.
I looked down and there was this cheeky little face looking up at me and pulling me towards the shower room.
Babydoll had fallen in the park and told her daddy, that Gaga (such an appropriate name 😉) would make it better and put a plaster on it. At the moment, she is obsessed with Mickey Mouse plasters, it is costing me a fortune, as she is fearless and always covered in scrapes and bruises!

My planned rest, before Mass did not materialise, for she needed watered and fed.
She opened the fridge, looking for a drink. After rejecting the various options, she handed me my blood orange carton of juice.
I share that with no-one, not even my best girl nor DH! 🤣

I wasn't planning to go to church today, but there has been an error in the bulletin (not my fault) which has greatly upset a parishioner, who contacted me late last night. I need to do some damage limitation.
Last night, I went to do something in the body of the church, only to come back to find a strange priest in the sacristy, we had no idea he was coming! The P.P. is in hospital and the curate was already committed elsewhere.
We have no info on, who is covering today. I hope a priest actually turns up.

I plan to do little for the rest of the day, My energy levels are zero. I don't even know if I have the energy to rake in the freezer for the elusive steaks for today's dinner.😒

Wishing you all a pleasant Sunday.

GrannyIvy Sun 20-Jul-25 08:12:23

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it rained most of yesterday and overnight but a bright and sunny morning at present.

Yesterday finished on a high watching my 11 year old granddaughter dancing in her annual dance show. Today a quiet day is planned getting ready to go away tmrw with DD2 and family. We are going on a short trip to the Norfolk coast but weather is not looking much like beach weather.

Happy Anniversary to Luluaugust 🥂

Hope everyone enjoys a pleasant peaceful Sunday

Liberty Sun 20-Jul-25 08:11:13

Good morning from a dull Suffolk with, hopefully, sun later. Although predicted,we had no storms or rain yesterday.

DS and tribe are coming later to show us their new( to them) camper van which they collected yesterday. It is the first time they’ve had one and the DGC are very excited. DGS,age 11, will show us how everything works in the greatest detail.

Hope all have a good day and thinking of those unwell or worried.

Kalu Sun 20-Jul-25 08:06:06

Good luck to your GD and her team baubles.

Kalu Sun 20-Jul-25 08:03:22

Good morning all. Damp and drizzly so far in Glasgow.

A strange day yesterday as I slept twice during the day and lights out at 10.00pm feeling exhausted. No idea why as I wasn’t doing anything that would tire me out. Unless the weather changes, it will be another day indoors.

Sorry to hear about Buzz Bellasnana and now a funeral to attend💐
No wonder you’re glad to be home Grandmabatty being ill on holiday and an arduous journey must have been awful. Look after yourself and I hope you feel better soon.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

Grammaretto Sun 20-Jul-25 08:01:57

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's a damp start but hopefully will clear.
It's my cousin's last day. We will meet a friend for coffee and then decide what to do. I will offer a drive to visit another open garden as these are always popular.

Yesterday after the regular open house café where I help out, I shopped and we knitted (mine's a sweater for me) and watched a favourite film while listening to the
rain and thunder.
DS and DGS drove out to see our cousin and me for good chats and an Indian takeaway. DGS is taking his driving test next month so needs to practice.

What an exhausting day you had gMattie but satisfying.

I hope Bellasnanna is okay and able to enjoy being with her family.

What a fun impossible jigsaw that will be Mizuna
There's a superb logo model of the building at the Hawick tower museum.
Have a good day everyone.

kittylester Sun 20-Jul-25 08:01:54

Good morning all from a rainy North Leicestershire.

We may go to IKEA today! We are redoing our upstairs sitting room AKA the playroom - wish us luck.

Our local County Councillor is popping by to listen to the manhole cover outside our house. It 'clacks' every time any thing goes over it and it's getting worse.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 20-Jul-25 08:00:07

Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire.

There is an extremely loud blackbird outside my window, guarding its nest. I’m afraid our cat Milo has already killed two of the fledglings.

Church this morning at the smallest church in the Benefice.

Lunch out. I don’t feel like cooking in this humidity.

My left big toe is still a little painful and swollen. OH thinks I should see the doctor. It definitely isn’t gout.

Have a good day everyone. I’m thinking of those of you with difficulties.

harrigran Sun 20-Jul-25 07:59:33

Good morning from a grey and damp NE.
Yesterday it rained most of the day but escaped the thunderstorm.
It is going to be another quiet day with my book.
I think dinner may be a store cupboard vegetable curry washed down with an alcohol free beer.
Sorry to hear about Buzz Bellasnana. Safe journey to the UK.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Georgesgran Sun 20-Jul-25 07:54:29

Good Motning from a gloomy, still, Durham, although it’s quite warm. There was hours of torrential rain yesterday, so we were soaked several times. Driving home was ‘interesting’ with a few idiots using their fog lights and dazzling other drivers in the deluge.
I have no plans for today, other than starting to sort out clothes for my holiday - DD2 says we should just share a case!

Best wishes to all, X

cornergran Sun 20-Jul-25 07:50:33

Very happy anniversary wishes to you both luluaugust. 🥂

Sallyforth Sun 20-Jul-25 07:48:30

Good morning everyone from a brightening Cheshire where it's 17C. Any clouds are moving swiftly from the south.

I had a very disturbed night after a very painful wasp sting last evening. I came in from the garden and a wasp flew down the front of my dress. The pain was extreme. Fortunately I had a spray, and some vinegar dressings calmed it down after a while.

Hope your journey went without delays Bellasnana. A sad time for you. flowers
90 minutes to retrieve your luggage Grandmabatty shock
Take is easy today.

My day will unfold as the mood takes me. Nothing urgent to worry about. 56 years ago today, the day man walked on the moon, my DD was born. Happy days.

Enjoy your day whatever you have planned. Kind thoughts to all who may have troubles and sadness. flowers

Gingster Sun 20-Jul-25 07:47:58

Good morning all and no weather to report here in Essex. Rain forecast for later.

Yesterday’s DIL’s 50th birthday bar b q was delightful. The rain held off and the sun came out. Lots of family and friends chatted and laughed the afternoon away.
DS1 did a delicious bar b q, baked two birthday cakes (voted 10 out of 10) and generally worked his socks off, as usual.

Poor chap ended up at A and E in the evening with an ear infection. Swimmers ear on holiday impacted by the flight home. He’d already been to the GP but it was getting worse.
He was seen quickly at the hospital and given more antibiotics and a spray. 🙏.

Eldest DGD is taking youngest DGD to London to the Paddington experience and then on to the Sea Life Aquarium. Theyll have a lovely time together.♥️.

I hope all goes well tomorrow Bellasnanna 🙏

The sun has just come out and it’s very still and peaceful. I do hope the forecasted rain arrives though., 🤞

Take care and enjoy the day .,🌼
