I had just gone on Maternity Leave September 1978 ,for my first child.
The Song always being Played was 'Lucky Stars' by Dean Freidman.
This brings back so many memories when i hear this
Hard to beleive my eldest will 47 this year.
Any songs remind you of your pregnancies?

One Day I’ll Fly Away by Randy Crawford, 1980. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I was ill and was taken in to the antenatal ward a few days early. Then the yellow came out. Turned out I had hepatitis - they reckoned it was a viral hepatitis. I gave birth and they took her away. No one ever knew where I caught it. I was kept in for 8 days and wasn’t allowed to have my baby. They did give me photos and brought her to my window into the corridor and showed me her every day. I cried buckets. I was desperate to hold her. My DH was the only person allowed in and he had to be fully gowned and masked. It was the most awful time. Anything that came into my room was marked “contaminated” and kept there. I have a real love/hate of that song.

Fridayschild. That is so sad, brought tears to my eyes. I presume you got well and were reunited with your baby.

I have a similar reaction th Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars. I just can’t listen to it, but no reason why .

My son's song was I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston.

He was a very clingy baby, couldn't put him down for 5 minutes. Then one day he was grizzling. MTV was on and Whitney was singing. Captivated him. He just gazed at her.

This will sound shocking but we actually taped this song on video a few times and he'd lie there, quiet as a mouse and I was able to go to the loo without having him clamped to me like a limpet

I’ve just looked at what was popular in 1971 when I had my first child, and I’ve never heard of any of it. I just didn’t listen to that kind of music. I think I listened to Radio 4 mostly.

I used to sing “you are so beautiful” to me followed by “when I was just a little girl”

When my first was born the number one was Don’t Leave Me This Way.
Second, The Only Way Is Up.
Third, Goodnight Girl.
All rather appropriate, I thought.

The Wimbledon theme tune, watching the tennis while feeding the baby and forgetting to switch to the other breast. Baby blotto, didn't get changed.

‘All I want for Christmas is a Beatle’ by The Crystals - I got a daughter on Christmas morning! Also ‘Dominique’ by the Singing Nun. Many years later I asked her whether she would have liked to be named ‘Dominique’ - a definite ‘No!’

@JP 123 - Minnie Rippeton !

“You are so beautiful to me” was Joe Cocker

mine was the endlessly played ‘Baker Street’ - Gerry Rafferty,
the plaintive Raphael Ravenscroft alto sax riff whips me straight back to that happy time - “it’s a boy!” - 1978 October
