Good morning Mick from wet 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 where the gardens are looking refreshed and I won’t be sitting out with the chamberpot 🤣 but here are two pictures of my little olive tree which has been receiving verbal encouragement from me for months and has finally given birth…🤗

Good morning from an overcast Bristol.
Much sugar was purchased yesterday to make the marmalade. Shopping went well but was pretty expensive with all that sugar!
I made 4 batches of orange marmalade and two of lemon. Despite years of marking the latter, I have never managed to get it to set properly; although delicious , it’s always curdy.
MD, I usually put about 12 jars in my trolley and take it to church. It’s just that I have the services of DS atm which makes life easier.
And, he’s taking me out to lunch after!
We had an interesting talk by someone from the War Graves Commission. They want any personal stuff from soldiers of both World Wars.
Interestingly, I have bound volumes of letters from my maternal grandparents to each other when my grandfather signed up in 1918 from his native Mauritius. He trained, but the fighting stopped before he went on the front. The chap said that it would be useful.
Today, apart from laundry and finishing some lemon marmalade, lunch with DS, I have little to do.

Good morning from a pleasantly cool part of La Sarthe, enabling us both to have a more restful night's sleep.

I’m glad your cardiac check up went well, Mick, and I hope today brings a similarly positive outcome.

My DD2 and SIL are in Majorca with DGD (the dancer!) whilst her brother (my DGS2) is in South Africa! He was selected to represent his school on a sports tour which was an honour but an expensive one! The trip has cost over £2k, towards which DH and I have contributed. Some of the money has been put towards the cost of the various strips and casual attire required, much like professional touring teams would have.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the sun is shining at the moment. I feel very out of sorts since I came back from holiday, and didn’t sleep at all well last night. If it stays dry I shall have to get out into the garden today, but first, I have a meeting with my new FA. I had only just got used to the old one, but he’s retired. I hope he talks in words of one financial syllable because at the moment I don’t think I could put two and two together and make four!! I must also turn my attention to ordering a new fridge freezer to replace the old one in the garage.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very gloomy and damp start to the day in Cheshire. What a change after a lovely afternoon and evening yesterday. Glad your appointment went well yesterday Mick and hope today brings good news too.

Totally uninspired by the weather today but hey ho it is what it is. Been awake since 2.30 so feel as though it must be lunch time. I've been engrossed in family history research for the past couple of hours.

The only 'must do' today is go to acupuncture. I will sleep better tonight if I do. It will be a baking afternoon whilst it's cooler. I kept putting it off in the heatwave conditions but the cupboard is bare.

Hope yesterday had some happier moments catching up with friends and relations Bellasnana.

Good morning from a dull and damp Black Country.

Arrived home late yesterday afternoon from our trip to Bristol for the twins 30th birthday celebrations. It was held in a venue in Clifton, with a lovely outside area. Good to see MrJ's family all together.

M5 home yesterday wasn't too bad. The queue of traffic going South was insane! I suppose it is because it is school holiday time now.

No real plans today, so a relaxing one, which is good as I am out every day this week from tomorrow.

Awake far too early but as the sun is shining and the birds are singing I really don’t mind. Excellent day yesterday visiting Harewood House - highly recommended - untroubled by the weather despite brief but heavy showers. Yorkshire countryside a delight and much greener than Somerset, all splendid. Not sure what plans DD will have for today but I am content to do as I am told and go with the flow.

So sorry to read your news, Bellasnana, although I realise I'm behind in posting.

Life continues to be upside down and all over the place here but we are managing. It's amazing how we all manage to find reserves of whatever strength we need even if a month ago we could never have imagined it.

Loving all the holiday/travel exploits and birthday/anniversary celebrations.
DH and I were meant to have been going on holiday in September, but it is now cancelled. I'll enjoy travelling vicariously until we can make plans again.

I'm going to go out early for a walk. The last 2 days there's never been a convenient time and I do like my daily walk, even if I only manage 30 minutes as it gives me some headspace.

Good morning from Ramsgate where the rain has stopped and it looks bright outside.

The seagulls are so noisy and there is another bird chuntering away outside, I think it might be a magpie as there are a few of them around.

Yesterday’s service was very moving but beautifully arranged by the four children as was the wake where there were a lot of familiar faces.

It was good to talk to people and hear their stories about my late brother in law. So sad but a fitting send off for a lovely man who led such a full life.

This morning I’ll be going through old photos with two of my nephews after which a bit of shopping. I’ve been instructed to buy new wellies for the boys so will head to Primark I think!

It absolutely poured down yesterday which, as grandMattie observed yesterday, is quite unusual for Thanet.
It’s lovely to see all the greenery and trees which we don’t really have in Malta so I don’t mind the rain.

Good morning, a cloudy start here in south Glos, it looks like we’ve had a shower as the patio is damp.
The washing dried nicely in the breeze yesterday, it was the perfect temperature for me although it was rather warm on on early dog walk.
Tiddler was struggling rather because the silly sausage is so enthusiastic to rush along. I made her stop and rest in the shade several times, this was before 7am and I always carry water for the dogs. She recovered quickly but I have to be very aware because she’s a Boston terrier x French bulldog and therefore flat-faced. That’s why I am so vigilant about the weather too.
She’s a poppet and bigger dog looks out for her all the time.
My lovely artist friend popped in late afternoon, she’s a real tonic! At her suggestion I have started swatching all my water colour paints, so I know their properties instead of randomly selecting them.
She’s taking me back to basics ( being largely self-taught I don’t have the framework I need to improve), so here’s to doing something about that!
I will do more today, it was very pleasant doing the first ones.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. A wet start.
I have the podiatrist this morning and a friend for coffee and catch up after.

Yesterday I took my cousin to the airport. There were long queues before the by pass which was caused by an accident so the road closed and I had to turn around and take a lengthy detour, listening to the sirens. 😟. Luckily we had left enough time but it was stressful. I hope no-one was hurt.

I joined the U3A walk which was pretty but under the flight path so very noisy. Hundreds of houses are being built there.
When I got home I soaked in a bath with Epsom salts.

How exciting to have home grown olives pantglas.

Good morning from Norfolk where it is a chilly but bright morning. We arrived yesterday to a torrential downpour but thankfully within half an hour it was warm and sunny. The little ones enjoyed fishing for crabs on the quay and were delighted to fill two big buckets! Today we plan to head for the beach, have a fish & chip lunch before heading home later. Unfortunately I have broken out with a cold and had a very restless sleepless night and must admit I am looking forward to returning home later.

It was domestic god and goddess day here yesterday. Today we’re heading North on the motorway (🤞 it behaves) to Tewksbury to meet my cousin and her husband. There will be much sitting drinking coffee followed by lunch while catching up. Photos arrived from the family in Australia showing very wet and dramatic scenery, happy faces and a lot of food

Good morning from mid Essex, where it’s dry and sunny at the moment. There’s a cool breeze which is pleasant. Some heavy showers yesterday and I think more are forecast for today. Had a walk yesterday morning, then pottered around for the rest of the day.
Today I’ll collect my prescriptions from the pharmacy and visit my friend with dementia.

School term ends for the granddaughters today, a special leavers assembly this afternoon for two of them who are moving up to junior school in September.

bellasnana, I’m pleased that your brother in law’s funeral went well yesterday. Enjoy your shopping today.

I’m enjoying reading about all the holidays going on, my holiday will be spent at DD1s looking after the dog while the family are away! It will be a change of scenery if nothing else! And I can walk to a big Tesco for my paper and a browse around a different supermarket!

Good morning from a cool, overcast Cornwall. Went by two longish bus journeys to the Lizard yesterday. Oddly enough I've never been to this most southerly point in the country. Will go again out of season to avoid the crowds! 😁 Then a stop off in Helston, where a young boy was paddling in the rivulets that run beside the main street, and finally back home where I had a beer in Wetherspoons and read my book. A bit of a mini holiday really.

Today I'm pottering at home, mostly up in my wooded area where I'm still attempting to create a small sitting-out spot from which to enjoy the views across the town. The tenant before me obviously had a go at it and I'm determined to complete the back-breaking task! 😀

Good morning from cloudy s somerset, it is damp at the moment

My cycle ride was sublime, just lovely to be going through the countryside, to be able to do so

I made lacto fermented beetroot yesterday, small cubes in brine, they will ferment about 2 weeks and then they will store in the fridge for about a year. I will go and pick the last beetroots later today and make some more tomorrow. An earthy satisfying preservation method

I washed and stored all my mucky pots, a job I loathe if I leave it to cold autumn. I had sit-down intervals during the day but was mostly on my feet until 5 so I slept very well

An organic delivery is arriving today and will need putting away before I can go out. I love seeing how much my squashes have grown every time I go to the allotment and if things go well, they will store until next june, I have already made space for them in my garage.

Oh yes!, I have two more ripe figs to pick today, a wonderful treat. My brother waited 15 years for his first ripe fig. I am planning to buy 3 more fig plants for that same sunny wall, I will have space when the remaining vegtrugs have gone. All kept in pots that I can just manage, so I could get them into my garage if we have a too-cold winter

I guess my earthy dna is showing up at the moment

Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy but warm Carlisle. I'm feeling hot already and I've hardly moved!

A busy morning yesterday with the usual chores plus a phone call to BT where a minor problem was sorted.
After lunch, I heaved myself out for a walk in the park which was naturally fairly busy as it's the first week of the school holidays. The swan families were about, the cygnets are getting big now. One family of them has learnt to haul out on the bank opposite a bench where there's often a willing feeder!

Home to finish off the papers and do a bit of brain training.

Today, more of the same really. I'd hope to garden in the afternoon but that's looking dubious at the moment. I must plan a day out, some of you put me to shame, the things I intended to visit once moved here and still haven't....

Good morning from Shropshire.A dull and dry day forecast.

A restful few days for me while DH painted the hall, stairs and landing.I wasn’t totally lazy!All housework and laundry up to date.Lots of reading done.

Today we are going to an open day for exercise classes.Not my thing at all but since I have been ill I have had a few episodes of wobbling so am hoping to go to a class that concentrates on balance.I have been practicing balance at home as per advice on another thread which has definitely helped.
