In *soop’s absence I’ve opened the door, fluffed the cushions and replenished the buffer.
Blossoming you have more patience than me with that bracelet, how delicate.
Tough times SueD I hope today went well for Thursday.
Yesterday’s quiz was a record 54 in attendance, not bad for a village on a Monday, we caught up with quiz mates, but failed to get in the top three. Before that I went to see a physiotherapist and came away with a bunch of knee exercises, I’ve crepitus apparently!
Today was washing, managed to whip it in before some rain unexpectedly came down.
With 🌹to soop and others struggling.

Just popping in to see if there are any updates and to send best wishes to all who are poorly, caring, stressed or bitten.

We, too, have a grandson awaiting A levels results on Thursday. He has opted to do a degree apprenticeships rather than go to university as he has been accepted unconditionally. He is doing something biochemical. He is still anxious though.

His sister gets her GCSE results the following Thursday.

Glad I don't live in their house. Our boys had a similar age gap and I don't remember it being quite so fraught.

Hello everyone! Ibuprofen is an anti inflammatory drug and can help with insect bites, if you can take it. That’s advice from Dr Sam, DS!
My heartfelt wishes to The soops, FGT2, Yiayia, sueD and everyone else with pain, illness or worry. It’s 35C on our south facing patio, so after struggling to repot two big plants, we have retreated to the cooler side of the house and the fan. We had a canopy fitted last week and it has made such a difference to the kitchen and on to the rest of downstairs.
Keep cool everyone - Magnums R us smile

Hi all, very hot here today at least 31, I’ve skulked indoors this afternoon.
Daughter and children loving Weymouth, it’s slightly cooler there, they climbed Portland hill today, spectacular views.
I hope soop is all systems go for tomorrow and the scan for himself went well today.
Sadly I can’t take them Nannytopsy, blood thinners, but itching stopped now.
I hope llfl has an appointment for her thumb.

Blossoming Tue 12-Aug-25 19:19:33

Good evening dear Kitcheners, thank you for all your kind thoughts. I collected the last of my BP meds this morning and am hoping that is that! It’s that time of year again when I have my routine bloods done, the surgery messaged me this morning to collect the form, along with a urine text kit. MrB went and collected the forms while I made a phlebotomy appointment for 28th August. My next eye clinic appointment for Botox is on 12th August and I am keeping my fingers crossed for no more complications! I just want a quiet life please!
Hope all has gone well for the FGT2s and Soop is moving closer to home.

Hope all is going well for you Yia and SueD, apologies if I’ve missed anyone, I feel drained.

TOYA xx

Jaxjacky Tue 12-Aug-25 19:22:51

I hope so too Blossoming, for us all really, some may say boring, but uneventful has a lot going for it!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 12-Aug-25 19:31:23

ā€˜Evening All’

We got home from the scan department around 3pm. Exhausted physically (Himself) mentally (me). We slept as soon as we got in. Now we wait for the result - not as long as usual because it’s part of a clinical research trial.

šŸ¤žšŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

As we left the department my very own ā€˜Stick Man’ caught hold of my hand and said ā€œI’m going to beat this.ā€ Goodness knows where he found this burst of optimism today but it made my heart sing to hear him say it. šŸ’™

Blossoming Tue 12-Aug-25 19:33:25

Too right JaxJacky, I’ve had quite enough excitement for now. This kitchen needs some calm and soothing vibes for a while.

Blossoming Tue 12-Aug-25 19:35:14

Sorry FGT2, crossed posts. Glad it’s done and hope there’s a positive outcome x

brook2704 Tue 12-Aug-25 19:47:51

Hi kitchen pals, a really warm day up here in Inverness
I’ve been on the go all day, aerobics, line dancing, coffee and volunteering - all good even in the heat! The aircon in the gym studio isnt the best but we managed ok. We sat in the sunshine between classes and chatted away, such lovely friendly ladies make such a difference. Then onto a quick volunteering session with a new group of student before heading home. We’ve just had a quick pasta dish and salad for dinner now I'm flopped on the sofa and I’ll probably nod off very soon!
Sorry to hear about the unnecessary stress Uttb, hope the card is working ok now with no further hiccups
Bet you’re pleased you can give the soft play a miss for a while grandmabatty, hope back to school / nursery tomorrow goes well for the boys
Fingers crossed for Thursday kitty and for all other DGC anxiously awaiting results
Hope Soop gets moved closer to home tomorrow
FGT thank you for your update, hoping for the best possible results x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 12-Aug-25 20:00:33

Oh Grandmabatty you have such a droll sense of humour - but quickly filled up with screamers (dgs2 among them) had me grinning - you’re better than any tonic!

SueDonim Tue 12-Aug-25 21:51:33

I’m glad you got through the day, FGT. flowers

Thank you for everyone’s good wishes for my Dh. It touches me so much that the lovely people in my iPad think of us. ā¤ļø

Good afternoon dear Kitchen friends. My BP had dropped to 124/84 this morning, which is such a relief! My target BP to keep the eyes and the cerebral aneurysm happy is 130/80 or less, so that’s close enough. It’s very hot here but we have ventured out this afternoon down to the Dock gates. Both gates are open and I could just sail away.

Love and best wishes to you all xx

Jaxjacky Wed 13-Aug-25 16:29:36

Great news Blossoming what a serene picture.
I hope soop is back in Oban or on the way.

Grandmabatty Wed 13-Aug-25 16:35:11

*Blossoming *that is good to hear.
Today I picked up my prescription then went to a lovely furniture shop for a rug. I have seen a couple I would like. When I got back, the painter was busy paint the living room walls and the colour was nothing like I thought it would be! I thought I had picked cream and it's a pale grey. Oops. It's really nice so I'm keeping it. This afternoon I worked in the school library for an hour. The staff were really pleased to see me and it was nice to be back. Back home, I've rested on the bed as my ankles are swollen. Too much heat. I felt guilty because the painter was beavering away but I was too uncomfortable. He's just gone. Tomorrow he'll do the second coat on the living room and hall and do the gloss in the living room which means I can begin to put things back where they should go on Friday and Saturday. It has very hot here and thunder is forecast for tomorrow. Chicken and salad for dinner later. Take care all

Blossoming Wed 13-Aug-25 16:36:19

Thanks JaxJacky, hope all is well with you and yours. I have a scary few days but am on the right track now. Hoping for good news from Soop soon.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 13-Aug-25 16:39:18

Good afternoon from a very, very hot Stockport.
I have stayed in all day with the curtains drawn and a fan on , lots of water but I still feel quite drained.
I fell asleep after lunch for an hour but woke up feeling tired and grumpy.
I cancelled my weekly visit to a friend and she wasn’t happy.
I rang just after 10am and she said she was in the middle of preparation for me visiting.
She really was put out and I have promised that if we get a reduction in temperature tomorrow, forecast is 23degrees, it is 31 here just now, I will go then.
I was quite upset by her attitude.
My money problems are solved, my card now allows me to get money from an ATM.
I am mindful of you all with poorly husbands, it is a very difficult and unsettling, understatement obviously, time for all your families.
Happy families on holidays, gorgeous weather and you cannot either appreciate or enjoy it.
My fondest wishes go to you all, not of course forgetting our ā€œ ladiesā€ soop, blossoming, Susan and anyone I have forgotten.
Such a rambling and ungrammatical message but the heat is affecting me and the high hopes are well meant.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 13-Aug-25 17:22:10

You understand and describe our situation here so well uttb.
Thank you for your compassion.
We are indeed ā€˜in limbo’ these last four months. We just have to have hope that better days are ahead. My anxiety ratchets up at times. I have to make a concerted effort to tamp it down and just think ā€œday by dayā€.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 13-Aug-25 17:52:16

Hello kitchen people. I am melting. I find the heat quite difficult now.

I had a call back from the surgery. I will have a telephone consultation with a Physiotherapist a week Friday to decide if I should have a cortisone injection or not. In the meantime I must keep going with paracetamol, my thumb support and ibuprofen gel.

I managed to make a small rich fruit using mainly one hand. It is younger son’s 40th today and he’s coming for the weekend a week Saturday. My other two didn’t do an awful lot for their fortieths. My daughter’s was in the middle of those lockdowns and elder son doesn’t really do birthdays.

Have a good evening. I’m specially thinking of the FGT2S and the Soops.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 13-Aug-25 17:53:09

Rich fruit CAKE!

GrannyGravy13 Wed 13-Aug-25 18:43:16

Just about to start cooking dinner, it’s been a funny day weather wise, hot and clammy but overcast with the odd drizzle shower.

Thinking of our poorly kitchen friends and those with worries.

I do hope that dear soop managed to get transferred nearer to home today 🌸

brook2704 Wed 13-Aug-25 19:30:21

Hi kitchen pals, it’s been a really warm sunny day up here, just perfect
I’ve been out and about, at the gym, coffee with pals, a walk by the river and the bus home. There’s lots and lots of foreign tourists about all enjoying the weather so the riverside hotels and cafes are very busy. I managed to get a seat though at my favourite cafe and a wink from a handsome waiter! ā˜ŗļø

It touches me so much that the lovely people in my iPad think of us I just love that phrase SueD, thank you!

Good news on the BP Blossoming šŸ‘
Hoping that our dearest Soop has moved closer to home today
Utbb goodness I would have thought your friend would have been a bit more understanding given the extreme temperatures
A long time to wait before physio llfl hope you can manage ok, you’re always so busy
FGT ā¤ļø

Yiayia4 Wed 13-Aug-25 19:50:16

We had quite a thunderstorm here this afternoon and it’s been overcast all day,not the forecast.
DH is so anxious about his scans this time and I don’t think his urology consultant will have results tomorrow.I think the medics have a meeting first and discuss the results, but I’ve not told him that.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts it means a lot.

Glad you got through yesterday FGT and hoping for some good news for you both.šŸ¤žšŸ™

Kitty the very same in our family DGS1 gets his A level results tomorrow and DGS3 gets GCSE results next Thursday so, a very tense household.
Hope Soop is back now and comfortable.šŸ¤ž

Thinking of you all.

Jaxjacky Wed 13-Aug-25 19:57:52

Hi all, your friend doesn’t sound very gracious uttb you would’ve preferred our weather today, cloudy, a max of 24 with a short rain shower and a distant rumble of thunder.
We collected MrJ’s car from the mechanic, with new oil and filter, avoiding other kamikaze drivers on the way there, ā€˜some people just don’t look!
I went for a very pleasant lunch with a friend to one of our favourite pubs, we were greeted like old friends, no waiters winks though brook 🤣
MrJ and I then shopped in Aldi, we go rarely as I love a weekly delivery to the door, Tesco usually, but we stock up in Aldi now and then on ā€˜bits’.
Slowly ramping up the heat tomorrow, 30 on Friday, it’s an odd yellowish colour outside now, but nothing on storm tracker.
šŸ¤žfor soop being nearer home, I hope SueD and her Mr are busy choosing and booking some well deserved breaks.

Baggs Wed 13-Aug-25 20:10:54

Soop news: soop is back in Oban hospital and the latest update is that she will stay there until the 21st when she will be once more ambulanced to Glasgow to be seen by oncologist then taken back to Oban same day.

Good wishes to all from soop and from me šŸ’šŸ’

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 13-Aug-25 20:46:05

Thanks for the update Baggs. 🪻
