In *soop’s absence I’ve opened the door, fluffed the cushions and replenished the buffer.
Blossoming you have more patience than me with that bracelet, how delicate.
Tough times SueD I hope today went well for Thursday.
Yesterday’s quiz was a record 54 in attendance, not bad for a village on a Monday, we caught up with quiz mates, but failed to get in the top three. Before that I went to see a physiotherapist and came away with a bunch of knee exercises, I’ve crepitus apparently!
Today was washing, managed to whip it in before some rain unexpectedly came down.
With 🌹to soop and others struggling.

Happy Birthday gg I hope you’ve had a lovely day. Beautiful flowers!
blossoming I’m sorry you’re feeling poorly and that you haven’t been prescribed any antibiotics yet. I hope that incontinence team can provide some helpful advice for you, but fingers crossed someone can prescribe antibiotics to get rid of the infection quickly.
My usual walk this morning and a long chat with a friend walking her little dog then I did a little gardening, mainly spraying weed killer around and cutting back some overgrown shrubs. It took me about 20 minutes to get rid of all the creepy crawlies that were in my hair and clothes!
After that exertion I watched one of the Michael Moseley programs about ageing. It was very interesting but sadly I’m not up to playing football now, no matter how good it might be for my bones!

Have an enjoyable evening everyone.

Lovely flowers GG and a good card too, I hope you had a lovely birthday
Sorry to hear you’re feeling poorly Blossoming hoping you get your antibiotics soon
We’ve had a busy day, a trip into town for some M&S food this morning and then cleaning, tidying and gardening this afternoon. DD1 and family will be coming to visit the week after next so I’m giving the bedrooms a thorough clean and tidy. DH has started painting the garage doors, not sure if I’m that keen on the colour, so hope it grows on me otherwise it’ll be more work and he’ll not be too happy 🥴
I’d be straight in the shower redcar I hate creepy crawlies - even one gives me the jitters!
Good that you feel comfortable going out on your own Jax your local sounds such a friendly place
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

I’m currently watching England v Spain in the Women’s’ Euro’s.
I agree brook football is a no-no. England’s Lucy Bronze is only 33 but her body looks broken after 90 mins on the pitch.
I wish all poorly kitchen ladies well soon,
and hope all is going well now Mr fgt is home.
Hi to the soops too.
I will retreat to the quiet corner now.

TillyTrotter Sun 27-Jul-25 19:21:32

Apologies it was Redcar not brook who watched Michael Moseley, but Hi 👋 to brook too.

brook2704 Sun 27-Jul-25 20:45:26

Hi 👋 Tilly hope you’re doing ok and good to see you
I didn’t watch the football but DH did, Congratulations to the England Lionesses, but also well done to the Spanish team, DH said they played really well
It’s been a showery day here, one minute sunshine the next heavy rain so haven’t got much gardening done but did some cleaning instead
Hoping Mr FGT is safely home now and settled
Thinking of Mr & Mrs Soop and everyone in the quiet corner, take care all x

GrannyGravy13 Sun 27-Jul-25 20:54:13

Thank you for the birthday wishes, it was Tuesday, but due to teen sitting duties, has been delayed 😹

Thinking of all our kitchen friends who are poorly or with troubles.

I am a soggy mess after watching the football 🏆

Night night

hulahoop Sun 27-Jul-25 23:00:49

Belated birthday wishes Gg flowers are beautiful.
SueD hope you manage to get away soon.
Sending ((hugs))) to all who needs them
Blossoming I hope you get UTI sorted.
Soops and FGT 🌻🌻

brook2704 Mon 28-Jul-25 18:41:41

Just seen your post on the GM thread Yia sorry to hear how you’ve been feeling but pleased you’re getting some help now. Hopefully both you and your DH will improve soon and hope your DH scans go well in August
It’s stayed dry here today and quite a sunny afternoon. I skipped the gym and spent most of the day outside in the garden, I felt I needed the fresh air and the day passed quickly. DH is still painting the garage doors, second coat on now and we’re both happy with the colour
Hoping Mr &Mrs Soop are doing ok and take care all x

‘Evening All’

Well we’ve had our first full day at home together. It’s so comforting to have Himself with me again. I am learning to be braver as regards meals. There’s so much not allowed with an oesophageal stent I lost my confidence pre his admission to Christie’s. Mind you the faulty stent didn’t help matters.

My darling man has lost a great deal of weight. Hopefully he will slowly start to turn a corner now with regards his strength and stamina too. We go back to the hospital on Thursday for an out patient appointment and a second box of chemotherapy tablets. If things stay smooth and on an even keel I will hopefully regain my coping strategies as they’ve taken quite a knock lately.

GrandmaC47 Mon 28-Jul-25 19:15:29

Fgt and himself , onwards and upwards 💐

GrannySomerset Mon 28-Jul-25 19:18:53

We are all in your corner, FGT. Being brave is so hard and you are doing so well.

TillyTrotter Mon 28-Jul-25 19:31:53

fgt
borne from the great love you have for your darling man you will find the reserves to cope. To have him with you at home means you can do this together. You are an amazing, strong woman. 💐

Redcar Mon 28-Jul-25 20:13:58

Lovely to see Dixon back this evening fgt! I’m so pleased that you have your DH back at home again. I’m sure you will soon get back to cooking special food for him, that won’t upset the stent. We’ve all got your back.

brook I hope you’re feeling better for the day in the garden, the fresh air will have had a beneficial effect on your mood I’m sure.

I had a fairly busy day for me! Walked twice round the recreation ground, with a couple of stops to chat to dog walking friends, cleaned the bathroom, did a load of washing and dried it outside. Then had a phone call telling me that the blinds I’d ordered for my bedroom, the dining room and lounge had arrived at the shop and could they fit them tomorrow! I had to move all the stuff in front of the windows, but need to move some furniture in the lounge, so will do that in the morning when hopefully I won’t be aching too much!
I also watered all the plants in pots, I hope we’ll have some
rain later in the week so I don’t have to put the hose on the rest of the garden!

I hope the soops are ok. Thinking of all those in the quiet corner.
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.

kittylester Mon 28-Jul-25 20:28:27

Popping out of the quiet corner to say 'you will be fine' to fgt. You will be a brilliant team.

Blossoming Mon 28-Jul-25 20:48:38

Lovely update FGT2, you will find the strength you need xx

Thorntrees Mon 28-Jul-25 21:02:12

So pleased to hear your news FGT2,being home and cared for by you will help your DH get his strength back.
Loving thoughts to you both.x

SueDonim Mon 28-Jul-25 21:43:32

I know you feel, FGT, it’s such a responsibility. flowers You will manage, though, and MrFGT will be all the better for it. Does he have supplementary drinks from the hospital? My Dh has found them useful for maintaining or (last week) even gaining a little weight!

TOYA in the Kitchen. Xxx

Grannydaisy1 Mon 28-Jul-25 21:47:16

Sending hugs to SueDonim and fgt. Two very special ladies

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 28-Jul-25 22:27:27

Hello kitchen people.

I’ve had my usual Monday. Cleaning lady, Waitrose shop and ironing and laundry.

OH cut the lawns and trimmed the clematis which is trying to take over our pineapple (really!) tree.

Onwards and upwards FGT2. All will be well,

I’m thinking of others in the kitchen going through hard times. Not forgetting the Soops.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Jaxjacky Mon 28-Jul-25 22:30:51

Just in from quiz, dont ask!
Yia I’m just so very pleased not only have you asked for a little help but you’re also receiving it, asking is very hard sometimes, good for you.
Everything with love FGT it beams from your update, you’re doing brilliantly.
So many kitcheners needing a hug, I include you too SueD caring for loved ones, don't forget yourselves.
Busy day on the voluntary phones, interspersed with picking MrJ up from the airport and getting my ear suctioned - again, bane of my life, but so, so minor.
Quiz was fun, that’s all I’m saying.
Night all 😴

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 28-Jul-25 22:45:57

Well J. You either did brilliantly and brought home a fatted calf. Or just the wooden spoon!

cornergran Tue 29-Jul-25 03:02:17

I’ve been reading snd wondering why it is when I’ve had a busy, physically tiring day sleep is so elusive?

No matter, I’m comfy have had the chance to catch up here.

Go gently yia, I’m pleased you’ve found support.

Oh fgt with your loving care and common sense your husband is surely in the right place now. Be brave, you can do this. Love to you both.

Do tell about the quiz jax. It will stop us guessing grin.

soop is in my thoughts, I’m hoping she is sound asleep.

Thinking of you all. Whether life’s waves are gentle or feel like a tsunami take care everyone.

Nannytopsy Tue 29-Jul-25 13:50:05

I’m sending a comforting hug to fgt, Yiayia, SueD and the soops. You all deserve medals, let alone hugs. Both my hair and the lawn have been cut today, beds stripped and in the machine , towels washed and dried .
😇

Jaxjacky Tue 29-Jul-25 14:11:15

Firstly my daughter couldn’t come to quiz, her son aged 12 wasn’t in on time (now grounded)! Having a team member in their 30’s really helps, particularly with the music round, which is where we took a tumble. Sitting there humming along does not put artist and track name onto paper sadly, we were 5th out of 11 teams, but, we did have a few laughs.

cornergran Tue 29-Jul-25 15:18:45

I’m sure the laughs were a tonic yia. Understand totally the need for younger input for those questions. Shame you aren’t allowed to phone a friend 😀. Your placing sounds quite reasonable to me!

Very tired today. I do need more than the three hours of sleep I achieved. Oh well. Onwards and upwards.

Take care everyone.
