In *soop’s absence I’ve opened the door, fluffed the cushions and replenished the buffer.
Blossoming you have more patience than me with that bracelet, how delicate.
Tough times SueD I hope today went well for Thursday.
Yesterday’s quiz was a record 54 in attendance, not bad for a village on a Monday, we caught up with quiz mates, but failed to get in the top three. Before that I went to see a physiotherapist and came away with a bunch of knee exercises, I’ve crepitus apparently!
Today was washing, managed to whip it in before some rain unexpectedly came down.
With 🌹to soop and others struggling.

Glad you had a better sleep, Redcar, you're wise to take it easy for a few days while the antibiotics work their magic.

Good to hear that normal sleep has resumed for you, Jaxjacky, I remember having really vivid, disturbing dreams after my first Covid jag. Well done on 3rd place!

Grandmadinosaur, I'm glad you enjoyed your wee outing with your DH yesterday. The fresh air will do you good. Your post reminded me of DH and me enjoying ice cream on a bench with a view, small pleasures but as you say, it felt so good.

Grandmabatty, sometimes I surprise myself! 🤣 Today was busy too, Mass, Physiotherapy then Aquafit, a bit of to ing and fro ing ! The Physiotherapist, who looks about 12, has kindly referred me for the Strength and Balance class, hoping I get a place soon. She sent me home with resistance bands and a new set of exercises for my arm, shoulder and neck... I feel like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz, I'm so stiff ! But I will persevere. I remember our pal Blossoming being very disciplined about her exercises, I must set reminders to make sure I do them regularly. Hope Blossoming is OK.

That's a shame about your soft furnishings, Grannygravy. It's hard to match up materials with samples, and as you say, sometimes the finished walls are not quite the same. Fingers crossed šŸ¤ž for the blues!

My car insurance renewal came in today, 'insured and spouse '... must phone them.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening. TOYA.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Sept-25 14:29:57

I have collected the new curtains and duvet sets for what we call the GC’s bedroom, they are going straight back 🤬

The paint on the walls is nothing like the sample, consequently the very pale sage stripes are far too green, have just ordered pale blue and white striped curtains and blue and white starred duvet sets, hopefully these will not be too blue šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Redcar Tue 09-Sept-25 10:43:48

Thank you for your kind encouragement everyone. I had a good sleep last night but woke up feeling like a zombie this morning! I’m definitely taking things easy today, it’s a lovely morning, and I’m enjoying the sunshine while we have it.
Well done on your 3rd place in the quiz jaxjacky and on the win in the meat draw.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 09-Sept-25 08:56:07

Redcar rest u-, hope you feel better soon, the antibiotics should kick in within 36-48 hours.

Jaxjacky Tue 09-Sept-25 08:38:06

Back to normal sleeping after Friday night thanks Grannmarie, I think it was coincidental with the shingles jab, no other reaction.
Sorry to hear you’re poorly Redcar gently does it until fully fit, some tlc needed.
We came third in quiz, quite surprised!

Grandmabatty Tue 09-Sept-25 07:02:06

Grannmarie you've been very industrious! Good luck with the physio today. Redcar I'm sorry to hear that you are unwell. Hopefully the antibiotics will work quickly. Grandma dinosaur I'm glad to hear that you are continuing to feel better.
All quiet here. I'm shortly off to pick up the boys

Grandmadinosaur Mon 08-Sept-25 21:48:31

Sorry to hear your not well Redcar hope you get a good nights sleep and feel better tomorrow.

I’m continuing to improve. As it was a sunny day DH drive us to a local beauty spot 5 minutes up the road and we sat on a bench enjoying the view and an ice cream. That felt so good.
I’m quite surprised by the lack of info I got when I left hospital.
Most info is what I’ve found online. Sign of the times I suppose.
One of the things I want to return to when able is Pilates. Luckily I know a teacher who has her own studio I’m thinking of booking some classes in my own home.
Well I am off to bed soon so NNGB

Redcar Mon 08-Sept-25 21:32:33

After a very disturbed night last night, I saw a doctor this morning and have a chest infection, so I’m on antibiotics. I haven’t done much today, a bit of ironing, had a walk to post a birthday card and then just sat! A friend called in this afternoon and I was glad of her company. Hoping for a better nights sleep tonight.

grannmarie I hope your physio appointment goes well tomorrow. I must resume my exercises tomorrow, I haven’t done them for several days.

neine I hope you don’t have to wait too long for the revision surgery and that the result will be satisfactory.

grandmadinosaur I hope you’re feeling better today!

Thinking of those in the quiet corner, night night everyone.

Grannmarie Mon 08-Sept-25 19:03:47

Good news, Baggs, thank you. It's heartwarming to think of the Soops enjoying a game of Scrabble together!šŸ’•

Glad you're home, Grandmadinosaur, wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.

Hello šŸ‘‹, Neine, good luck to you for your revision op, and to your DH for his new job.

The joys of packing, Nannytopsy! Have a safe journey and a fabulous holiday.

Sorry to hear about the nightmare, Jaxjacky, hope you had a better sleep last night. Good luck for your quiz!

I was catching up with housework at the weekend, pulling out furniture and getting into the corners. It seems to take me twice as long to do half as much these days, but I still find it very satisfying when it's done! Also did some batch cooking yesterday, big pots of lentil soup and bolognese, I won't starve. DS3 and lovely girlfriend came for dinner, good to see them.

I've got my follow-up physio appointment tomorrow, need to remember my exercises before bed.
Looking forward to TV šŸ“ŗ quizzes this evening.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening and a good night's sleep. Thinking of all in the quiet corner. TOYA.

Just back from seeing the Orthopeadic Consultant.... The last few weeks have been back and forth on the telephone to various departments trying to find out when the revision op would be.... And then after another
Multi disciplinary team meeting where I was discussed for the 3rd time a further face to face was requested which has just happened. DH came too and finally they have decided what they are going to try and do....they may not be able to reduce the leg discrepancy but should be able to correct the positioning problem so my leg isn't turning inwards causing my knee and ankle to 'collapse'. He would like to have given me a 100% it will be better but can't but I'll take my chance. He cant say exactly when it will be but is ringing me before the end of the week with an update. Whilst I'm not looking forward to the actual op and recovery if I get quality of life back (pain free) it will all be worthwhile.

Redcar Sun 07-Sept-25 22:14:29

grandmadinosaur I hope you’ll soon be feeling better, but everything certainly takes longer when you’re unwell for whatever reason.
A lovely warm sunny morning but this afternoon was disappointingly cloudy but still warm and humid. I stripped the tomato plants of all the green tomatoes and they’re in the spare bedroom ripening off. I took the plants up and they’re in the compost bin, no doubt there will be hundreds of little tomato plants in a year or two all over the garden! That took me most of the day, with frequent rests for refreshments! I made use of the half price electricity by roasting some of the cherry tomatoes to make a sauce.
Spiked some of the ā€œlawnā€ in the hopes it may encourage the grass to grow back.

Nice to see you again neine, I hope the breakfast baps were well received!

Thoughts to those in the quiet corner and those who are struggling. Night night everyone.

Grandmadinosaur Sun 07-Sept-25 19:30:23

Evening everyone.

Thank you again for your good wishes. I woke up quite early today feeling like I could do with some fresh air today but it didn’t happen. I lay on the bed reading the news and Sunday mags then I needed another snooze. Felt better after a shower but don’t these things take longer in recovery? I’ve managed to eat a bit more too today. A pot of my favourite Rachels rice for lunch and I had some chicken soup at teatime. Started off with a small bowl that went down ok that I had another one. That’s a positive.

Hope everyone’s Sunday has been good and nice to see you in here naughtyneine

TillyTrotter Sun 07-Sept-25 12:42:47

Grandmadinosaur Get well soon šŸ’

Naughtyneine Sun 07-Sept-25 08:04:05

A very early pop into the kitchen. We are parked up in Henrietta MoHo at the Bath and West Showground. DH is here with his new company and I'm here for...I don't quite know what but having been apart for a lot of time recently I said I'd come too
I've caught up on the recent kitchen events and glad that a little sunshine has squeezed into the kitchen with the news that Soop is now back close to her beloved Mr Soop...and normal Scrabble service is resumedšŸ™‚.
SueD ...wonderful to hear that things for now are in a good place...long may it continue.
Utbb....as Soop would say...Buggerations abound at the moment for you....I do hope the situation improves for all of you very soon.
Grandma dinosaur.. I'm not sure what the op was but really pleased you are back home now and it's such a good feeling starting to do normal things like stairs isn't it?

Blossoming.... Sending you lots of love and hoping you too will be home soon.

NannyTopsy... I'm glad I'm not the only one who wears only old clothes leading up to a holiday...where are you going to?
FGT.... Even when there wasn't time to post I checked in to see how you and himself were doing... and was so relieved to read he was back home with you...and I pray that he will remain stable and gain strength.
Granmarie...I hope the aches are easing, I love hand knitted baby clothes...I can't knit competently sadly but I can crochet and each daughter had a shawl except daughter no 3 who came only 17 months after daughter no 2 and I ran out of time.

I have to fly now as apparently I'm cooking sausages for the breakfast baps for the crew....
Love to you all especially those I have mentioned. X

cornergran Sun 07-Sept-25 01:24:42

Thank you baggs. Love to all.

Nannytopsy Sun 07-Sept-25 00:28:45

Grandmadinosaur I’m so glad you are home and hope you recover quickly. Lovely news about the soops and good news for you too SueD
thanks for UTBB.
I have baked today for a WI cake sale tomorrow. It’s the local Tractor Run and we are aiming for the crowds 🤣. Also dried 3 lots of washing which now needs ironing for our holiday. Old clothes only to be worn this week!

Grran Sat 06-Sept-25 22:55:29

So lovely to hear that Soop and Mr Soop have been playing scrabble together! Thank you Baggs.

dragonfly46 Sat 06-Sept-25 22:19:04

Thank you Baggs for the news of soop it brought a tear to my eye.

SueDonim Sat 06-Sept-25 21:27:08

Thank you all for your comments on my recent news. ā¤ļø

Great news from Baggs about Soop and I’m glad you’re home GMDinosaur.

Love to you all. Xx

kittylester Sat 06-Sept-25 21:13:54

Thank you baggs. Be sure to give our love to the soops and look after yourself too.

brook2704 Sat 06-Sept-25 21:07:52

So good to hear Soop is much closer to home now, thank you for your update Baggs

Jaxjacky Sat 06-Sept-25 20:41:37

Thank you Baggs cheery news, how lovely to have some semblance of normality.
Big tick brook āœ… you’ll reap the benefits.
Great news Grandmadinosaur well done on the stairs, tick for you too āœ… šŸ™‚
It’s been a sunny, but windy day, washing easily dried, MrJ remade our bed, I think our tomatoes are now done Redcar, I might clear them away tomorrow.
I’ve read the paper and started the crossword, well, one of them, I was awake last night after a nightmare, my screaming woke MrJ too, most unusual for me. I blame the shingles jab, so I’ll be soundo tonight.

merlotgran Sat 06-Sept-25 20:20:46

My very best wishes to soop and Mr soop and many thanks to baggs for the update.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 06-Sept-25 20:10:56

Good news about the soops glad to hear it.

Thank you for your good wishes. I’m glad to say I got home mid afternoon. Everything was in order was just waiting for the Drs round which typically wasn’t until about 2pm. I feel so much better being here. I’ve managed the stairs without any discomfort and had a short visit from the gc who bought me a card they’d made and flowers that gave me a boost. I have a pile of books to work through and while I’m recuperating I intend to do some online ā€œCā€ shopping.

Sorry your GD didn’t get the right result uttb but I’m sure she’s enjoying her time in Plymouth. I have lovely memories of spending time there when I was younger with my parents.

Well I think I shall be off to my bed soon
NNGB

Redcar Sat 06-Sept-25 19:51:18

baggs thank you for the latest news about soop. I’m so pleased that Mr Soop is with her and they’re playing scrabble - some semblance of normal life!
I’ve been watching Radio 2 in the Park on the iPlayer, as it’s at a local park. Both my DDs and their families were there this afternoon, the younger DD with younger children is now home, but the elder DD and family are still there.

I managed some gardening, disposed of one tomato plant with only a few green baby tomatoes on it.
My next door neighbour cut her grass today - I haven’t enough grass to cut yet - I need to rake it to encourage it to grow first.

Did a load of washing which dried quickly outside and is now in need of ironing.

Thinking of blossoming and the fgts.
Have a peaceful evening everyone.
