Morning Mick and all GN's on a still, sunny morning in North Yorkshire -but they promise us heavy showers later in the day.
Could not put Good in front of morning, as it has definitely not been a good night or morning!! Still struggling with jetlag and pains I have tried to be sensible and go to bed early etc etc. The main aim is to be well enough for my operation next tuesday morning, so doing all I can to help matters. Unfortunately, my body does not agree , and is determined to punish me for excessive travel and efforts!! So still struggling a lot with back and knees and was reduced to taking pain killers in the day, which I try to do without usually. So this awful cough is the kind that once it starts it won't stop and you can hardly draw breath and your eyes stream. I got off to sleep but the d..... cough woke me and by the time it had stopped I was wide awake and breathless. So read for a while and then managed to doze off, only to be woken up by flipping cramp in my leg and foot. Very painful and even when it eases off you darent turn or move your leg or it will start up again. Then started coughing again. Honestly what a night! Glad to see the daylight creeping in. So about 5.30am went into the shower , washed my hair, and generally felt much better for it, whilst be very careful getting dried as my leg kept doing these sort of judder flicker muscular thing, which is a warning to take care or it will seize up again! Not quite the plan for today. Anyway washer going well, and hope to get it out on the line before the promised showers etc.
Yesterday had to go to various places and the bank etc to sort of catch up with things, and am going in for a meeting today to just have a general look over my accounts. I want to make sure that all the direct debits etc are all set up properly and check if there are any that need cancelling, but most of all I need to know what is best. I try and save for various things , such as the car insurance , as you do better paying annually etc, and any things that I can see are liable to be needing to be replaced soon, such as my steam iron, which I am extremely annoyed , no longer works properly. Felt very disgruntled about this as said to myself , havent had that long, but when I thought about it , have had it for more than 6 years!! Nothing is built to last according to me! So it is no good having it in a current account getting no interest, but must make sure I remember what this cash is for, and it is earmarked, not for me to go swanning off up the dales. So I am doing these little things, and have just found some old £2 and £1 bonds of my husbands, so I have resolved to spend the next few days, when I am not up to doing a lot of walking, checking through drawers and so forth and sorting these old bits out. You think when you move you have told everyone your new address, but it is easy for old bits and pieces to not be checked. Who knows I may confirm my new address and find I have £1000 waiting for me from the premium bonds. Watch the pigs fly overhead!!!!
After my bank visit, I am going to meet my friend for a bit of lunch to catch up with news and views, as we havent seen each other for a while. It is market day in Northallerton, so busy with stalls and so forth on a sunny day, so we are being quite crafty. Barkers is the local department store - a bit like "Are you being served" in style. They have two stores, one in the high street so of course very busy with ladies who lunch and people coming in from the market. The other store is a little further out and is there furniture store, but has a restaurant there too. As it is a bit further out and not on a bus route, tends to be a little quieter and they have a disabled parking spot there so I can usually get in there if I need to - and today I definitely need to! So we can do our own thing this morning and meet up there on the first floor where hopefully we will get a table by the window and be able to catch up on news and views. My intention to make some effort sorting rooms out here has gone out of the window , due to horrible night, so I shall not feel guilty at all , and the best I hope to do is to get the washing on the line before I go!!
Fingers crossed I am hoping to meet the family on saturday. They live over in Lancashire and so we usually try to meet somewhere in the middle, as my grandson tends to get car sick and is not a good traveller. So we sometimes meet in Kirby Lonsdale, but another thing we do is meet at the motorway service station on the M6. Sounds crazy, but I drive up wensleydale and on through Sedberg and then it is a short distance from the way onto the motorway for me. I park in the disabled bay, the family come up the other way and turn round at the same entrance and then come down and they can have 2 hours parking there. It is at Killington Lake, and so we just have a coffee and can sit outside if it is dry, and catch up with news and views and then set off home or to wherever we are going. It has been a while since we last met and of course with the operation on tuesday, dont know when I will be back driving. So hope the weather is kind, but if not , no matter we can sit inside. Ah the sky is greying over a bit. Time to get the coffee on
Very pleased that you had good results Mick and hope you meet lots of friends today.
Ashcombe , how lovely to be pain free and to be able to enjoy walking about without having to think how you are moving
Karma lady, always enjoy reading your posts, as I was a great gardener and making things from the garden, but cant do it any more. I always used to spread a load of newspaper on the floor when I was doing beetroot, as am an expert at dropping slippery beets on the floor! But do tell me what is natto? I have no idea what it is and am curious.
Well folks, have a good day, and dont forget to be kind to yourselves as well as others and have a little time to yourselves with a cup of coffee and a bit of peace.
