Good Morning Everyone,
Its light but its grey and dry at the moment in brackley.
Today I plan to get the bus to Bicester do a shop , return and watch the Tour De France on TV ,as its start of Alps stages .
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

JamesandJon33 Thu 24-Jul-25 05:24:39

Bore da Mick and everyone else awake. Just after 4 for me today. The gulls, nesting across the road have a very noisy and demanding baby. If he is awake we all are.
Quiet day today. DH is going to dig up the last of the potatoes and I shall pick, and probably freeze any runner beans we have. Other than that I have writing to do.

Pantglas2 Thu 24-Jul-25 05:39:08

Good Morning Mick and Bore Da to JamesandJon 👋 from another dry day in north Wales.

Belated birthday greetings to GG and Gingster - hope you enjoyed your celebrations 🥂 and what splendid news from FGT - Ymlaen (Onwards) as we say here in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

My oldest (longest) friend is popping by for a ☕️ this morning so we’ll put the world to rights then a quiet afternoon reading before bingo this evening with another friend - quiet days on the Western Front suit me more these days! Interspersed with 👜 forays to TKMaxx Miss MD🤣

And now for tea in the garden, with Olive….

Good morning from another dry day in Bristol. It seems that it rains everywhere ,mall around Bristol, except in my corner…

I was delighted to read about the FGTs, when I perused the posts last night. How very heartening. Hugs 🫂🤗 all round.

I decided to do my church cleaning stint yesterday before the FAB cafe. I then set up and served our attendees. A few less regular customers. Nice time though.

I was shown where a whole box of empty jars had been “hidden”. I would never have found them. I badly need replacements for the 100 odd pots that I have filled this month. No need for more preserve making for a while now.

I managed to start putting a pinafore dress together, cut out about 3weeks ago. It shouldn’t take too long to finish now, especially as most things have shut down for the summer.

Tai chi this morning and a last dinner with family as DS is flying to Tanzania on Monday and DD and family are off for some three weeks.

Hope FGT’s himself comes home tomorrow, and is more “himself” after that horrible period. May all with ill health/sadness/mountains to climb manage to cope with it.

Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩💐🌷

Good morning, cloudy today in s somerset

I am up and raring to go after a broken night. I think I have pinned the sleeplessness down to eating fresh white onion. Red is ok but white is not, especially the strong type. No matter, I wanted to be up early today

Yesterday I made 6 soup bases to freeze, just loads of sliced veg, not greens. sautéed and now frozen, will make it easy to make miso soup in future. I am appreciating the ability of my magimix, it does save my fingers from aching from all that chopping. I keep the machine out all the time now, used to be in a cupboard but was too heavy to keep lifting it out, so I hardly used it

Allotment visit yesterday and a lovely chat with someone, it was uplifting, then followed by some sewing. I do like to see how the plants march on, whatever is happening in the world

I love doing this fairly complicated pattern, third make now after the toile. Dress with long sleeves first, followed by sleeveless and now another sleeveless. Darts and neck facing are done, very neat and this robust garment will last me for years. The pattern is hinterland by sew liberated. Toile was a disaster wrt fit until I made the adjustments

I need to take my car for service and mot, two walks involved today, easy meals for me and just some sewing with the phone handy

Have a good day

Kalu Thu 24-Jul-25 05:46:08

Good morning all. A hazy start before a hot, sunny, dry day in Glasgow. 21deg. will be a pleasant heat.

Penultimate day of completion as skip will be uplifted and the mountains of new gravel will be spread around the house. Only edging stones around patio areas and removal of machinery today. Clean up tomorrow.

Hairdressers today and a Waitrose shop will be my outings today.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant day.

grandMattie Thu 24-Jul-25 05:57:10

Photos when it’s done, kalu?

Sallyforth Thu 24-Jul-25 06:00:32

Good morning to Mick and all the early birds this morning from a very wet and gloomy Cheshire. Of dear, now a pleasant outlook this morning. A few days ago I woke to what I thought was heavy rain but which was in fact my tinnitus. This morning it is heavy rain! The birds are very quiet.

Today I get my hearing aid, which will apparently play sounds to mask the noise in my ear. I've read good reports and I'm pinning my hopes on this for some respite from the constant noise.

This morning I woke to emails from cousins in the US. Very interesting as they have different views of the man at the top!

Wishing all a good day. Special thoughts for those with struggles at the moment. flowers

Susan56 Thu 24-Jul-25 06:07:20

Good morning from Shropshire. We have the same forecast as Kalu today.

A busy day yesterday.DH spent the whole day working in the garden and I spent the time working in the house.Everything up to date just how I like it!Chats with a couple of neighbours.

We are looking forward to spending time with family over the next few days.

Wishing everyone a good day🌻🦩

Ashcombe Thu 24-Jul-25 06:22:04

Good morning on another dull one in La Sarthe. Yesterday we had a thunderstorm after lunch with torrential rain which cleared the way for a fine evening so we could dine outside.

So pleased to hear good news about Mr.FGT and I hope he’s home soon.

Thank you all very much for the warmth of your comments yesterday regarding my knee. The ablation can last up to 18 months which would be great!

Earlier this week, I noticed online that a letter had arrived in my patient records at my surgery regarding an ophthalmology appointment I attended at the hospital in late June. I was relieved to read that the glaucoma has stabilised, thanks to the daily application of drops, and that there is no problem with my field of vision. This is a great relief as my driving licence is due for renewal again next year; as I’m sure you know, from 70 onwards, this has to be done every three years.

Wishing everyone the best of days, whatever is planned.🦩🥰🇫🇷💐🦩

Good morning all from a dull but expected to be bright later on in the day here on the east coast of Fife
I’ve been up several times during the night for a pit stop which is usual for me
after my last pit stop I got up and took my bedding out from the washer dryer. I’ve popped it on the ironing pile ready to be taken away by Iron Lady - she does a grand job of my ironing.

Today I’m resting up as I’m still recovering from my annual BBQ held on Saturday

Have a good day my friends keep safe💐💐

These weather reports are really never accurate

NannyJan53 Thu 24-Jul-25 06:38:17

Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country, although it is not cold.

Pleasant day yesterday. Visit to DD and family to see them before they set off on holiday to Spain Friday. Then to pick Mum up and take her to meet Aunt and Cousin for lunch in a local pub. We were there for almost 3 hours!

Walking group walk today. The main road to the Country Park is closed for 9 weeks, so it is a long winded diversion to drive there. Madness to do this at the start of the school holidays.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Yogaknit Thu 24-Jul-25 06:49:15

Good morning from Kent where there is complete cloud cover and a stillness in the air.
Yesterday Mr Yogaknit and I watched an interesting documentary on The Yardbirds. A band to have had Eric Clapton then Jeff Beck and then Jimmy Page as well as guitarists. What a treat.
JamesandJon33 what are you writing?
Have a good day all.

RosesandLilac Thu 24-Jul-25 06:50:59

Good morning, pale blue skies here in south Glos with a thin veil of clouds.
On our early dog walk yesterday I noticed that there are plenty of sloes growing, the blackberries bushes vary from only just in flower to fully ripe and that all berries in general are very plentiful despite the lack of rain. It does seem very early for sloes and blackberries though.
Several stops to chat to people on both dog walks; yesterday afternoon I took the dogs out separately instead of DH coming. He was in a very strange mood yesterday 🤷🏼‍♀️, I do wonder what’s going on but he flatly refuses to see his GP so nothing I can do to help. All very worrying really.
This morning I’m going with a lovely local lady who is a wild flower and insect expert, to a local common to learn more about the plants and insects there. We’re taking coffee and I’m so looking forward to meeting her!
More garden tidying later, I had out big bay tree trimmed yesterday along with the climbing hydrangea so that’s looking great now.
Sending best wishes to you all 🌹

RosesandLilac Thu 24-Jul-25 06:54:44

NannyJan5e the road through a nearby village has been closed for 2 weeks now because of a sinkhole, the traffic is diverted along our very narrow, steep, single track lane. It’s absolute chaos with huge lorries- I met a concrete mixer yesterday 😵‍💫
Apparently it will take 3 weeks to test if the water in the bottom is chlorinated (therefore Wessex Water’s responsibility) or Wiltshire Council’s.
Farcical.

luluaugust Thu 24-Jul-25 07:00:35

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Art group and chat this morning, followed by a baking afternoon.
Best wishes

Morning Mick, morning All from a brightening corner of Somerset.

Our friend and neighbour had excellent news about a malignant melanoma yesterday. After two surgical interventions all is clear. We’re so pleased for her, she’s unfailingly cheerful while managing systemic lupus and waiting for hip surgery.

Mr C is struggling with energy, we need a chat about seeing a doctor. I’m concerned it’s heart related. Some regular BP monitoring is sensible which he is reluctant to do.

Not sure how today will pan out, maybe a short walk, see how the day goes.

Excellent news from Fgt. Hope the family meal is a happy one grandmattie.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Redcar Thu 24-Jul-25 07:09:22

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s cloudy and mild, dry at the moment but showers are forecast again. Yesterday I drove to see my godmother, she was on good form but is very deaf even with hearing aids. She is a very forceful character and has very entrenched views on most things which can make for difficult conversations at times.
Later I spoke to a very dear friend who had her second hip replaced at the weekend. She was very unhappy at the lack of basic care at the hospital she was in. Hopefully she’ll feel better in a few days.
A walk this morning, a food delivery this afternoon and a visit to the garage to get the car tyres checked, and that’s my day!
DD2 and her family are on holiday on the Suffolk coast until tomorrow when they move on to the north Norfolk coast, I hope the weather is kind for them, but the forecast isn’t brilliant.
ashcombe that’s good news about both your knee and your eyesight, a relief that you should be able to keep driving.
sallyforth I hope your hearing aids improve the tinnitus.

Hoping for the best day possible for everyone.

kittylester Thu 24-Jul-25 07:15:50

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

I have the last session of current Carer Learning course and have to be on best behaviour as one of the local commissioners is sitting in.

This afternoon, I am speaking to my SIL on the phone. She has quite advanced dementia. Her main carer (our nephew) feels it helps.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Thu 24-Jul-25 07:16:14

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C.
I am another one, who has had a restless night. I still have this awful headache and my eye is uncomfortable. I keep forgetting to put in the drops, but did actually remember to add them to my prescription request yesterday.

Karma, I too have my Magimix permanently out in the utility room, this is my third one, in goodness knows how many years. I wear them out! They are great work horses.
In fact I used it yesterday to make fruit crumble, apple and strawberry.
That was about the only thing I managed to do yesterday, yesterday, apart from going over to the doctor's.

Today we have BabyD, but won't be straying far. We are going on a bear hunt, (the name of her favourite book), down the old, overgrown, drovers' track behind our house, where plenty of sticks abound. She does love a stick!!
Her new puddle suit and wellies have arrived, (she is growing at an alarming rate) and no reins will be necessary. This is her idea of heaven.😉
The afternoon will be spent in the garden, the makeover is still ongoing. I can only do a little at a time, before I have to sit down.
Kalu, I look forward to seeing photos of your garden makeover.
Sally, I hope you have a successful appointment. I too have tinnitus, a result of the blocked ears. This deafness caused much hilarity at the surgery yesterday, I couldn't hear a word the receptionists were saying and there was much waving of arms and attempts at sign language.
Tomorrow is my appointment day. However, I am conditioned to not build up my hopes, any successful outcome is a pleasant surprise.

GM, do you ever make lemon curd? Dollie has requested some and I thought I would have a go at making it.

Fingers crossed for the FGTs, today.

Our friend has come home from hospital after six weeks. His transplant has been postponed yet again and he is receiving even more brutal chemo on a daily basis, as an outpatient. I feel I have no right to feel sorrow for myself, in the light of the struggle of those battling cancer.

Wishing you all a pleasant day and GMBatty, I hope you continue to improve.

Grandmabatty Thu 24-Jul-25 07:20:15

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 15° and forecast to be warm and sunny. FGT I'm heartily glad you have some better news about your dear man. GrandMattie I have a load of jars ready for jam. I just haven't made it yet! Susan enjoy time with your family.
Yesterday was another quiet day recuperating. I felt better but extremely tired. The bad night's sleep would have contributed.
This morning I feel better again. A decent sleep helps. I have a chiropodist appointment later and dd is going to nip in. Dgs1 has been at a football camp all week, but was flagging by lunchtime yesterday apparently. I expect the heat got too much for him. Depending on how I feel, I want to do some weeding. I have the washing machine on so I'll get a wash hung out before I head to the chiropodist. Chicken with salad for dinner tonight. Have a good day all.

Greyduster Thu 24-Jul-25 07:22:21

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a damp South Yorkshire. We were blessed with a dry day yesterday so with GS here we got a lot done in the garden; he cut the lawn and tackled a couple of hedges, and I deadheaded and weeded. Between us we almost filled the garden waste bin which had only just been emptied. In the afternoon we went off to look at freezers at a nearby electrical outlet and he was very free with his advice about which one to buy, as of course, 18 year olds know all about that sort of thing🙄! Today I will take him home around lunch time after we have moved some stuff around in the garage and he’s taken a couple of shelves down for me. He is lovely company, and a willing worker, but he eats a lot!😁
Have the best day you can, folks.

Grandmabatty Thu 24-Jul-25 07:22:55

marydoll I made both lemon and lime curd last year for the first time and it's really straightforward.

peli Thu 24-Jul-25 07:24:08

Lovely to read the uplifting news from FGT about her DH!
This morning I need to run to the shop for ciabatta, but I'm sure a few extra items will jump into my basket.
Stormy weather forecast for entire day, w/ a much cooler temp, so planning on having lobster bisque for dinner tonite.
(☕️ is ready if anyone wld like a cup)
