Good morning from a dry Bristol. We have had none of the rains from last week. It’s dry, dry, dry!
We had an interesting dinner in Clifton last evening, in a Sri Lankan restaurant. Heavy on the coconut, but delicious. It was to celebrate SiL and DS’s birthday at either end of the week.
I came home by bus, the journey was interesting. Firstly, there was a diversion because the road was closed, then there was a sudden very loud alarm. At the bus stop, the engine was cut out and the driver got out. He shouted at some boys at the back of the bus for fiddling with/leaning on the emergency exit, causing the alarm to set off. He then had to reset the door, check upstairs,Metz. When he restarted the bus, it came back on. Finally, he went outside to do something and at last the alarm stopped. The rest of the journey was uneventful, with some very sheepish boys in the back…
Today, I shall finish my pinafore dress. Also, this afternoon, I have my “salon”, with two neighbours and me having our hair cut.
May you have a pleasant Friday, and rise above all your troubles.
Carpe diem 🌷🦩🦩🦩❤️🦩

Let’s try again shall we?? Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather grey South Yorkshire. I am planning to go to the gym today but must wait and see if the road resurfacing works which start this morning are, as stated, going to “severely restrict access” in and out of the estate. Yesterday GS and I had a very productive morning in the garage which now looks a whole lot tidier and is, for the moment, spider free (there were some big ‘uns!). I ran him home and spent a couple of hours with my niece on the way back.
It will be a quiet day today. If I can get the car out I’ll go to the library later.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Bora da everyone from a dull, but clear South West Wales. Just watching the baby gull across the road…he should be fledging ( is that a word ) soon.
Just a visit to M&S today. A long ten mile journey but we are going to an outdoor theatre performance at the weekend and picnic food is a necessity.
Hope the weather is kind. Last year we got well and truly soaked and gave up half way.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all from light and bright north Wales where I’m up with sparrowfart as I’m taking a friend to have her other eye done (didn’t stop her winning twice at Bingo last night….👏💷)

That meal sounds delicious 😋 grandMattie and I’ve had some similarly interesting bus journeys…

I too now make lemon curd in the microwave - carefully, as the first time Mr PG kindly critiqued the result and named it Lemon Curdled…🤬

Have a lovely weekend everyone x

Good morning from a dry but dull corner of La Sarthe.

Yesterday, DH completed his second mow since we came over here. He has a lawn tractor so quite enjoys the job! Earlier this week we had a skilled chap here to paint the upstairs shutters and surrounds so the place is looking spruce. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the interior; DH is very untidy and his hobbies (model railways and photography) create muddles! It’s not my house so I have to live and let live although initially I tried to improve things.

A good weekend to you all. 🦩💐🇫🇷🥰🦩

GrannyIvy Fri 25-Jul-25 06:06:10

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it is forecast a sunny warm day. Yesterday was a very grey chilly rainy day until early evening when it brightened ready for DH to go to lawn bowls.

It has been a busy week enjoying lots of time with the little ones. Yesterday they made bookmarks for everyone and we laminated them and then each made beautifully decorated cards for their mummy whose birthday is next week. It got quite messy with cutting and sticking but the end result she will love I am sure. I now have (fingers crossed) for a few quiet days to rest up and hopefully shift this cold which is now hitting us all slowly and surely one by one🙈

Wishing everyone a good Friday

Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
Today we have some travelling to do with regard to our upside down family situation. Then this evening our daughter is coming to visit for the weekend which we're looking forward to. I make a point of not saying she's coming "home" for the weekend as home for her is now Birmingham. She went to University there, fell in love with the city and now works there. We love going to visit her there and much prefer it to visiting Manchester these days.

Have a good day everyone. 🌻

Kalu Fri 25-Jul-25 06:16:58

Good morning all. Grey, dry and still in Glasgow this morning.

I was looking forward to a peaceful return home from the hairdressers yesterday afternoon knowing tools are downed at 4.00pm I had a look around a ‘finished’ patio. Tile/slab cutting is obviously not their forte which will be the subject of this mornings conversation. Oh dear! I was planning an at home day today but I may change my mind and escape the madness!

Have a pleasant day all.

RosesandLilac Fri 25-Jul-25 06:25:18

Good morning, clear skies here on the hillside in south Glos.
I had a wonderful couple of hours yesterday wandering around a local common with a lovely lady who’s very knowledgeable about wildflowers and butterflies. I had no idea how many species of these we have there
I will definitely go again. It will be cut soon there the cattle come to graze, all very intentional management of a beautiful habitat.
I have art group this morning, looking forward to that, and I will take tiddler out first.
Hope today goes well for you 🌹

Good morning from a dull but brightening Black Country.

A great walk yesterday on a route away from the country park and through a common. Coffee and chat at the end, sitting outside, as although dull, it was very warm and humid.

Today is my monthly u3a walking group walk. That will be along the Staffordshire Railway walk.

Must cut the lawn in the back garden this afternoon, then pop into town for food for lunch tomorrow, as Brother, SIL & Niece are popping in as they have to be in our town for an appointment. Thought I would do Quiche, Salad, Pot Wedges & Coleslaw. SIL is bringing a homemade cake!

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning from a pink-skyed, cool Cornwall. Last evening as I walked by the sea in the blue hour I sensed, very fleetingly and surprisingly, the tang of autumn. Lovely.

I'm leaving soon to catch a bus to my son's to see my grandson on his 8th birthday, and to meet his birthday present, a bearded dragon, which we all gave money towards.

He finished Beavers this week, where he has learnt to start a fire with a flint. Here he is toasting marshmallows over a fire started by the seven-year-olds around it. He has also learnt, from his dad, to catch, gut and cook fish, so if he's ever shipwrecked at least he'll be able to feed himself. 😁 Next term he'll be moving to Cubs.

After a few hours with my family I'll be heading to the library where I'll be dismantling last week's Lego models. My sons, the grandchildren and their mum will be celebrating the birthday playing football golf, whatever that is. 😂

Good morning all from a bright North Leicestershire.

I have to visit the butcher and waitrose this morning and this afternoon we are going to the cinema.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a beautiful morning in Cheshire. I was not pleased to see the heron take off from the garden pond when I opened the kitchen door. I shall go and do a head count of the goldfish later.

I got my hearing aids yesterday afternoon and broke one last night. Oops. I was releasing the battery case as instructed, and one of them just hangs loose. I shall have to take them back today, which is a nuisance of a journey with road works.

Later I have to take some of my pots and hanging baskets to a neighbour so she can water them with ease for me whilst I'm on holiday next week. I've ordered some goodies in my food delivery today to repay her kindness.

Enjoy your day, whatever you have planned. Kind thoughts to those with worries of any kind. flowers

Good morning from a greyish S E Essex.

Gym first thing, afterwards I will stay for a coffee and catch up.

DD and the boys are popping in this afternoon, The Imp will probably stay here if she is working later.

(((Hugs))) to those in need 🙋‍♀️

Grammaretto Fri 25-Jul-25 06:52:58

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I leapt out of bed thinking it was after 8 and am now all ready for work washed, dressed and fed which doesn't start until 9.30!
What a mutt.

The photographer duly came and took videos of the granny flat which I hope to let out again soon. Perhaps in time for the Edinburgh Festival. I still have to get PAT testing done. Never a dull moment 😅🤣😂

I also have to prepare for 2 Helpers but then they can help me.
This afternoon I'm meeting a friend for a gallery visit and chat.

How frustrating Kalu that you're not too impressed by the tiling skills. We are all looking forward to photos!

I bought a hydrangea, on impulse, yesterday and now don't know where I will put it.
Have a happy day everyone.

Redcar Fri 25-Jul-25 06:59:44

Good morning from mid Essex. It’s sunny and dry and a warm day is forecast, unlike yesterday which was cool drizzly and windy. I had a walk yesterday while it was dry and met up with the usual dog walkers.

Had my car tyres checked in the afternoon, no damage from my hitting the kerb on Wednesday thank goodness.
I need to walk to the paper shop to cancel the papers as I’m going to DD1s at the end of next week to look after the dog. A little further than my usual half mile!
The washing machine is doing its stuff and I should be able to get the washing dry outside today.
It’s bingo in the village this evening, it must be my turn to win something this time!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset.

Gentle day yesterday. A charity shop drop off and a garden centre visit where we added to our solar garden light collection. One son refers to our tiny back garden as a helicopter landing pad. Can’t think why!

Volunteering for me this morning. Mr C has a date with the shredder and a comfy chair in the conservatory. Maybe Waitrose later, in theory for bread and organic milk, I guarantee more than that will come home.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a sunny and dry , but quite cool morning in North Yorkshire. I am still struggling with the jetlag stuff, sleeping and waking at odd times and absolutely ravenous at 4am still!! Trying to hang on until 6am before I allow myself the blessing of that first lovely cup of coffee . When I have had a bad night - which unfortunately is too often these days - I look forward to it for all the senses. I give it the attention of the japanese tea ceremony, and love the simplicity of my white bone china mug, the smell of the coffee before I even taste it. The moment of the first sip, which cheers me , knowing that I dont have to battle with pain and lack of sleep, any more today, and this exquisite drink will now begin a new day which will be better!!

Sorry that does sound a bit OTT for a drink but there it is. I am making some progress though very slowly. Yes Yes, I have finally washed everything and the whole place is full of lovely clean washing, that has been hung outside and smells so good. The everest of ironing has been begun to be tackled, and so now I have a choice of T shirts and trousers, rather than it being , what is clean and dry to wear.

Yesterday I managed to go to the meeting of the womens group. Everywhere I look there are jobs needing to be done, but decided that I needed to go to the meeting if only to say hallo I am back. Well it was a very good decision, as I had forgotten that it was the yoga session. Just what I needed and it was both helpful physically and mentally. I used to do quite a bit of yoga, but for some reason my brain does not seem to think of that when I am in a lot of pain. Some of it was quite difficult for me and showed me just how bad and creaky I am. Couldnt even do some things that I have had no problem with before. However it has reminded me of good poses, and I now resolve to do some every day , at least until I am able to be a bit freer in movement and , as the nuns do, get back into the habit!! I am now drinking the said coffee and need to get out to the supermarket and get some basic shopping, because I then need to go to the doctors as my wretched leg is very red and swollen again , and despite putting it up high etc not improving. I suspect it is flipping cellulitis again, and will need antibiotics etc . Being friday I cannot wait as it will be much worse if I have to wait until monday for some help. I learnt the hard way, when I first had it and didnt want to bother the gp about it. didnt recognise what it was and ended up nearly having to stay in hospital but having to go in every day for 16 days and have injections etc etc, so no way Jose am I going through that again! Why is it always fridays when something happens ?? So time to go folks and will be back later to read more news and views.

Just heard that the lunatic Trump is going to be in scotland. today. Of course I think murder is wrong , but pest control is another thing!!! Hmm , I might go for a drive northwards....

Ah well perhaps he might come south. I could send him an invitation to a conference that will be held in Ripon (we have these sink holes there where the ground suddenly opens up and things fall in !!)

No let us return to joy and cheerfulness. Return to the much needed coffee and hope you all have a good day today and have something positive to enjoy.

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. Not sure what we are doing today but as it is beautifully sunny I feel we should do something other than washing and cleaning, we shall see
DD2 popped by after my art group yesterday and we had a good catch up about her now having to be gluten free for ever, loss of doughnuts seems a particularly problem!
Best wishes to all

Good morning all from what appears to be the start of a warm day here on the east coast of Fife.
I’m going to my local club today where I’ll meet my friends and ex colleagues, it’s a busy club where most will be sewing or knitting and will have a general chat, Following on from this I’m visiting my sisters friend who’s in hospital having fractured her pubic bone ouch ouch she’s receiving physiotherapy to help her recover so that she can go home again. I’ve been instructed to take her a good thriller book, crisps and chocolate

Have a good day my friends, smile and you might get a smile back 😁

Good morning everyone from here on the MS gulf coast. We'll prob have a bit more rain today. Photo is of flowers in the garden, taken before the storm gave them a battering yesterday. I hope the day goes well for everybody!

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a warm sunny start to the day
Oh dear Kalu hope it’s sorted soon without too much hassle
I’m off to the gym this morning and then I’ll have a browse around town, home on the bus later.
Happy Birthday to your DGS Mizuna seems like he’s got lots of useful skills already!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from sunny s somerset

Yesterday was busy all day, two walks to the garage and my car was serviced with mot. Lovely people, good job done. I made meals to freeze, lots of veggies in a bake and I am enjoying the magimix again, it worked hard yesterday and I did some work in my garden.

I made myself read when I went to bed and slept the whole night through. I don`t intend to do a lot today but as usual will be on my feet and moving around. Thankfully I did wash my plant pots the other day, I don`t know why I dislike that job but I do, especially if I leave it to the cold autumn days. Talking about autumn, I too smelt the scent of autumn

I may do an allotment trip in my car, I have two trugs of soil to deposit and some cardboard. I decided to save cardboard again when I saw how well it conserves moisture and keeps weeds down, as well as providing a shelter for baby toads. I am going to take my moisture meter, I don`t want to be trickling soil with water when it does not need water a couple of inches below

I still have my sewing mojo and having an orderly sewing room helps, I will definitely be doing a bit in there later today. A couple of days of RnR are what I need this weekend and a long cycle ride with a bottle of water and an apple in my bag

I am hoping that there has been a miracle and that Madeleines cough has disappeared

Have a good day
