The US president said that a ā€œhorrible invasionā€ was taking place, adding it had to ā€œstopā€, shortly after touching down on Air Force One at Glasgow Airport.

ā€œAsked about illegal migration to Britain, Mr Trump said: ā€œOn immigration you better get your act together or you’re not going to have Europe anymore.ā€
He continued: ā€œYou’ve got to stop this horrible invasion that is happening to Europe, many countries in Europe.ā€
ā€œSome leaders have not let it happen, and they’re not getting the proper credit... I could name them to you right now, but I’m not going to embarrass the other ones. But stop, this immigration is killing Europe.ā€
Mr Trump, who has made border control a key priority of his presidency, said: ā€œLast month we had nobody entering our country.ā€

Well done Trump. He’s not wrong! šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§

*On immigration you better get your act together or you’re not going to have Europe anymore*

Absolutely.

Wish he was our PM.

Exactly. Starmer is so pathetically weak despite knowing that in most towns and cities people are fed up with how he is doing nothing to help them, only helping those who come here illegally.

It’s a disgrace and the reason why so many people are leaving their home towns and moving out to more rural areas.

We regularly meet people in that position and they are so relieved to have made the move to a place where they don’t feel like outsiders.

Just a wee side step, for clarification.
If we can't 'stop the boats', for those who have concerns, wouldn't speeding up the application and decision making process be the next best step?
Then folk wouldn't be 'hanging around' for so long.
It's just that all the media focus and people's angst seem ultra focused on this aspect.
Our authorities and services would have control of that side of things.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 26-Jul-25 13:36:46

What Trump said he’d do (and voters in America liked what they heard) and he’s doing it. Doesn’t let what people say about him bother him. Go Trump! I wish he was looking after our interests. He fulfils his promises. I like his straight talking, gets to the nub of a problem very quickly. He has a backbone and gets things done. Yes he’s a disruptor. That’s his style. But when the status quo isn’t working then things do need shaking up.

Admiration for a man who talks about "grabbing pussy", who calls wind turbines windmills, who thrives on creating division and hatred?

He is a truly vile, self-centred, self-serving sociopath.

I really hope he will get his come-uppance one day.

Boz Sat 26-Jul-25 13:53:21

You may not like the man but can have a certain admiration for what he seems to be achieving.
The thing is he represents the current zeitgeist (the political turn to the right and the dominance of the Business world and overall dislike of politicians) so the back noise will be dismissed.
People want a strong leader and are willing to overlook the flaws.

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 14:04:32

He is achieving so much, and it is all for himself.

Not clear why a foreign convicted felon, rapist and alleged paedophile should be given approval by a thread’s headlines?

I can think of all sorts of people who might make the same argument and who have a much higher moral standing.

Although quite difficult to have a lower one frankly.

Try raising your eyes higher. Would you trust him around your teenage daughter?

You don’t know that for sure that he’s a paedo, or rapist!

He’s on record saying if his daughter wasn’t his daughter he’d be dating her. What sort of father talks that way about his young daughter. It isn’t as if his words and actions are just hearsay; they’re on record and he’s been quite open about it in the past.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 26-Jul-25 14:16:38

There is video footage of him (which the WH has been desperately trying to suppress) eyeing up and praising a young teenage girl.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sat 26-Jul-25 14:48:46

Remember Biden sniffing that young girl’s hair? I do.

A Scottish resident said ā€œAyr is not in lockdown. The small hamlet of Turnberry 15 miles away is subject to necessary security measures. Here in Ayr there is no sign of any restrictions. Stop dramatising the effect of President Trump’s visit which is welcome by most of us.ā€

Totally agree with madeleine45.

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 15:32:20

I'll need to stop holding my breath waiting for the details of what Trump has actually done in the USA to help real people, instead of himself.
Oh, maybe it's because there are no examples to report.
wink

But do you remember Biden cavorting with Epstein, inviting Epstein to his wedding, sending Epstein a drawing of a naked female with Biden’s name scrawled across the pubic area, Biden flying down to the Caribbean with Epstein or calling Epstein ā€œmy best buddyā€?

No?

Neither do I

Whitewavemark2 Sat 26-Jul-25 15:46:13

And of course it was not Biden who started the whole conspiracy theory about paedophiles in the WH, that he promised to clear the swamp, but which has now come back badly to bite him.

Whitewavemark2 Sat 26-Jul-25 15:47:25

I don’t remember Biden being so fond of ā€œpussyā€ either.

Parsley3 Sat 26-Jul-25 15:55:35

Oh, dear Donald and the windmillsof his mind.

I remember POTUS Biden, in public, sniffing hair.

However, I don't remember POTUS Biden in photos with Epstein, being accused of assault and rape, or bragging p***y grabbing.

No excuses, one is weird and one vile.

Casdon Sat 26-Jul-25 18:28:55

His trip is being viewed negatively in the US - fleeing the scandal that is now going to haunt him to play golf, dressed up as a ā€˜business trip’.
edition.cnn.com/2025/07/26/politics/trump-scotland-golf-epstein-scandal

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 18:42:56

I wonder who is paying for this trip to see his golf courses, and the overtime for the Police who will have to protect him?
Some of the banners seen online are hilarious, but a bit too rude for the gentle folk on this thread.

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 18:46:17

The Biden hair incident is the usual distract/deflect attempt. Weird, as was said, but nowhere in the same league.
Wonder how much of a redacted Epstein Report will make it past the White House shredders?

Maremia Sat 26-Jul-25 18:50:14

Just read it Casdon thanks.
'The birthplace of his mother.' That made me laugh. Do you know how long he spent in the actual house, thinking about his Mum and her heritage and how it must have been for her?
Think it was just about a minute.
Such respect! Such a bonnie wee laddie. Not.

Iam64 Sat 26-Jul-25 19:07:52

I’m surprised at the posts saying Trump is improving America. In what way? He’s suppressing free speech, falling out with elite universities which bring so many benefits.
And - Elegran puts the objections about his personality and lack of ethics or a moral base so well

Llamas99 Sat 26-Jul-25 20:32:28

I don't believe even half of what I read these days. The days of real journalism are long in the past.

Claremont Sat 26-Jul-25 21:23:42

Blimey and out they pop out of the far right woodworm. Trump's father was an illegal immigrant, so is Melania and probably her parents, and so is Musk. Vile people.
