Egypt has suffered a lot with Muslim extremists and deserve to do well economically and for that to happen they need many tourists.
I would really like to do the trip that you did.envy

It was beyond my expectations honestly. Memorable and opened my eyes to their history

They are revolting, heartbreaking, abhorrent and beyond description other than unbelievably inhumane.

Good grief. Yet another unfair attack on Starmer. Getting a bit tired of this, now…

It’s been happening since the day after the election.

Not all the attacks on Starmer are unfair, not by a long chalk.
He’s put in quite a disappointing stint as PM in the view of a lot of people.

We stayed in Luxor for the week. It was an amazing place and the history really interesting.

I think it depends on whether one takes a glass half full or a glass half empty view of him and other matters great and small.

Looking for the pluses rather than the minuses, etc.

I have (rightly) been hauled over the coals, by gn's checkers for alllowing my feelings to suggest manners of dealing with Trump, so will not continue that here, but hopefully any right thinking person, will wonder at the american people choosing such an appalling , untrustworthy, unworthy president, who behaves like a 2 year old, stamping and demanding his ball back and that everyone must play by his rules. My sympathy goes defintely to Starmer and anyone else who has the misfortune to have to deal with this creep in person. I am sure they cannot wait to get home and have a shower as soon as possible. The situation in Gaza is appalling and we should all be doing whatever we can to improve matters there. That the israelies, who in the past have been treated so appallingly, can now be the perpetrators of such behaviour is both disgraceful and unacceptable. The rest of the world must get together and demand that such behaviour stops NOW, that the sick and the starving are treated with compassion and helped to improve their appalling lives. Remember the saying that all it takes for EVIL to succeed is for decent people to stand aside and let it happen!!

Many Jews fled to Israel following the horrors of the Holocaust,
centuries being homeless 1948 there was a Jewish State, the same year 5 Arab countries declared war on These Jews because they were Jews.

The Israeli/Gaza war has its horrors because of hatred of Jews ,
the vow ā€œNever Againā€ is dismissed , Jews are still hated , this is
denied by some but it’s true .

There is a lot less to him than meets the eye.

An unfair attack on Starmer? What like his unfair attacks on the working class, the elderly and the disabled?

Neilspurgeon0 Wed 30-Jul-25 08:49:34

Exactly that Casdon

Poor bastard - having to deal with Trump both publicly and on his ā€˜private aeroplane and look sensible to his wife and the waiting journalists all desperate to ā€˜have a go’ - I bet Starmer simply just couldn’t wait to get back to the ā€˜normal’ Westminster chaos !!

Rocknroll5me Wed 30-Jul-25 09:10:19

I think he stares blankly as he works out the best political response. The poor rabbit is frozen by fear. That’s not Starmer. He is highly professionally trained not to show his feelings. He’s forever judging best response and not very good at hiding it.

Did you look for the plus, glass half full factor when Boris was PM? šŸ˜„

So am I. Give the man a break!

woodenspoon Wed 30-Jul-25 13:34:04

I’ve got no feelings about Starmer one way or the other. The job is a poisoned chalice and I’m sure he has heard of the saying be careful what you wish for. I don’t envy him, what he has to do, none of it. Nor his wife who mostly keeps a nice low profile unless she has to appear. I expect they’re longing for their four years to be up if truth be told.

However, did we hear any of this go easy on him rhetoric when Sunak, Boris et al were in power? Not to my knowledge.

Old saying: if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

There is something Starmer could do right now;
Suspend/end all arms trade with Israel.

To make it easier for Hamas

Smileless2012 Wed 30-Jul-25 14:05:23

I agree Purplelavender. It wont make much difference due to the support and backing of the USA but it would send a clear message.
