Good Morning Everyone,
Its dry here in Brackley , with a very dull looking sky .
Routine as per usual ,getting bus to Bicester , with a slight route diversion due to roadworks in Brackley.
Hopefully chat to former work mates plus some others I have met waiting for the bus , there is a burger bar not far from the supermarket which does all day breakfasts ,tempted to try one day.
Health OK , weight steady but low.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a dry and bright Inverness, yesterday afternoon was sunny and warm so hoping for the same again today
Gorgeous pictures Bellas thanks for sharing, enjoy the time with your friend
GG13 I’d be feeling a bit strange too, hoping everyone stays safe
Today I’m going to the gym, there’s a new class called Drumtastic to try and then Zumba - I’ll be going for a coffee in between classes with pals, that’s the best bit!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a quite bright but still start to the day here in North Yorkshire. Please excuse any odd spellings as am trusting my touch typing as cantt see very well at the moment.

Feel as though I have done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson today, but grateful to get the operation done yesterday. The surgeon is very good and the staff work in a well oiled team which I have every confidence in. So this eye had some different problems from the first eye, so it seemed to take longer and is definitely very scratchy feeling this morning. Have the big cover on so even if I was tempted cant rub my eye., I cant, but oh how I long to have a go, it is very sore and itchy right now. There seemed much more sloshing of water around and water running into my ear and down my neck etc. I do my best to keep my eyes open but have always been a pain blinking. Years ago when getting ready to go on stage for opera or play, we would draw a dark line under the eye and I used to have to get someone else to put mine on as could not stop blinking. Anyway, all that matters now is that I hopefully can start to get better and then get back driving ok.

I hope previous experience will mean I am better at putting drops in from today. Will be taking great care and making sure hands well washed before putting drops in. I know I am not at my best and am having antibiotics because of the wretched cellulitis coming back, so I need to be very careful and follow the instructions to the T.

Of course not allowed to drive now, but hurray for the YELLOW PERIL, as I can use that ok. So today I shall be able to go down to the market, clearing space for myself with my bicycle bell - as it is a very quiet machine- and if that is ignored my teachers voice comes in useful as I say quite loudly "EXCUSE ME. may I pass please" Most people are sensible and courteaus and aware of others but increasingly here we have two groups that can be a real pain! One lot are the young lads about 15/16 age group. They wander round in groups of at least 7/8 together. The paths are quite narrow when the stalls are out and they block the way standing about together. No harm meant they just dont think or are stuck with their headphones on and not listening. The other worst group are the b.... annoying dog owners, most men round here. It is not the dogs fault at all. The long leads that they have are a brilliant idea used properly, in the country or open paths but in the middle of the market they are a desperate hazard. Particularly when the owners pay no attention to the dogs but chat to others or look in shop windows, So the booby trap is set, where the dog is right across the pavement and the flipping owner taking no notice. So as I hobble from my buggy to buy from the veg stall I have to watch out so that I am not tripped up by the flipping lead. Especially now when my back is so painful and my knees. While I am struggling to see properly it can be a risk and I do not intend having to be carted off to hospital by falling over said dogs!!

I have been awake since 4.30am, and just no chance of any more sleep so have been happy to sit here and add my two pennorth to various threads on GN. As I now have to be very careful, and no bending etc etc, I have the perfect excuse to be a lady of leisure this morning. So have had some breakfast and have the bliss of good coffee and Bach before 7 , I am shortly going to get dressed and ready to go down the market. I think I have been a very good girl, and am going to reward myself with some strawberries for one thing and will be parking the yellow peril up at cafe nero, and shall award myself a decent coffee. Hopefully I may see some friends on the market but no matter , will enjoy the trip. I plan to also treat myself probably to fish and chips for lunch. Cant cope with standing up cooking today and just need to treat myself a bit kindly today so that is my excuse. Ah just thought I might really treat myself and have lunch at the very good little italian restaurant. Dont at cheese, so no piaza for me but I edo love their sea food risotto. Lovely fresh fish and a good variety that on your own you dont buy so many kinds. Definitely a comfort food for me.

This afternoon will try and ring someone from the whist group and see if someone can pick me up tonight. Dont want to miss the game but of course cant drive and no bus to the village. Am going to take my new pack of Grizzly BEAR CARDS TO SHOW THthem before I give them to my grandson.

So, friends I shall be a lady who lunches today, - but wont be putting on my posh hat and gloves like Penelope KEITH in the good life!! Thank you all for your good wishes and putting up with me going on about it all. If any of you are travelling up in my area I would love the chance to perhaps meet for coffee in a Cafe NERO, to put a face to a name, but also if anyone is staying in the area would be happy to take you to some out of the way places . I do feel that we are all very nice to each other on this group, but sadly there never seems a group get together here. I have asked if anyone is around to meet up for coffee somewhere but so far nothing. Once I can drive I am happy to traavel so if there is anyone in the durham or yorkshire area would love to meet up. Any offers? Anyone thinking of visiting Whitby or Bridlington or the wolds ? Bellas nana dont know if you are likely to be round here anywhere before you go home but it woud be lovely to meet up.

Anyway I do hope everyone has a good day today. We are lucky not to be facing the tsunami and I feel sorry for the people in Russia who will have been devastated by the quake. Time to get started, but with scruffy shoes. I forgot to posilsh them before I went to my operation so thay will have to be scruffy now. Hope you have all been able to ready this missive and with a bit of luck I might be able to see a bit better y tomorrow.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and cloudy. Yesterday ended up being a sunny day. Marydoll safe journey home from Fife, heavily laden with goodies. GrandMattie safe journey to your son to Tanzania too. Susan I hope this estate agent is better for you.
Yesterday the boys and I had a good day. I took them to soft play in the morning where they immediately hooked up with other children and spent two hours chasing each other around, rarely returning for a drink. In the afternoon,, we walked to the end of my estate where there's a green space surrounded by trees. Dgs1 took his football and spent lots of time kicking it around while dgs2 collected cones, leaves and some early conkers still in their cases. He was a happy boy too. Back at grandma's house, they painted a couple of cones and then did some painting on paper. Dgs1's looked as if he had emptied half of the paint stock on it. It's still not dry. My neighbour nipped over with more potatoes for me and dgs1 got fresh peas, a tomato and mini cucumber from her too. They were all devoured. He loves vegetables.
Today I have a man coming to measure up for new blinds in the morning. The rest of the day I will potter about the house and garden. I might make lemon curd and turkey meatballs for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where we are planning to have a seaside day with DD2 and family. Yesterday they went to the small zoo in Kessingland which is so much bigger now than it was when our children were young. All enjoyed their visit.

Today it’s a day of collecting shells from the beach for DGD5 aged 8,the pier and arcade for the teen, possibly a round of crazy golf and definitely ice creams and probably chips.

Hope all have a good day and some sunshine.

That sounds rather perturbing GG13

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Lancashire.
Glad to hear all went well with your eye yesterday, Madeleine. My late MiL had both cataracts done and it transformed her quality of life and allowed her to live independently at home until the last few weeks of her life.
I'm planning a quiet day. I got the washing done yesterday so hopefully I'll get chance to tackle the ironing.

Hope everyone has the best day possible. 🌻

Good morning all. Cloudy but mainly dry for Glasgow today.

I took myself out yesterday for a break away from the ongoing work in the garden to rectify the shoddy workmanship. On my return home I was pleased to see a more precise slab finish around the steps. On my outing I did a Waitrose shop, a visit to the bank to request yet another new PIN number, fingers crossed I receive one that works, bought some bits and pieces in M&S food hall, had a coffee break before a trip to the car wash then headed home. Now waiting for my dentist to open as I woke with a loose lower tooth just about to fall out! I know he will fit me in at some point today.

What a frightening experience Greyduster. I hope you feel more settled today, taking it easy and looking after yourself.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant, smooth day.

Good morning from a dry but overcast N. Bucks.
Ordered my two pairs of glasses yesterday. Two weeks and I can get rid of these pesky varifocals. Also bought a new hand bag with some of my birthday money.
Today DH is at golf so a quiet morning, not sure what I am going to do..
This afternoon I shall have a cuppa with my friend with whom I run the craft club. We will decide on projects for next term. WI committee meeting this evening.
Wishing all a good day.

Good morning from a cloudy but brightening Black Country

It rained fairly heavily most of yesterday morning and early afternoon. So did the ironing smile

Visiting an NT property today with my friend, as we have a free voucher from a Newspaper. So a wander round the house and gardens, then lunch!

Hoping FGT's are coping well.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning everyone from a sunny south coast.
I’m housebound today waiting for DHL to collect a very large suitcase to go to Wales to DGD’s hospital accommodation. It will then be waiting for her when she returns from her holiday in Croatia. 🤞
Yesterday’s U3a meeting went well. Nice to chat to members I don’t see very often.
Hope everyone has the best possible day.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, raining, and likely to remain all day. Yesterday was very dull and overcast, but dry.

A busy morning sorting out stuff to restock my freezer; sweet chilli chicken and plain chicken thighs. I cooked some of it and froze the rest uncooked. So for dinner I had roast sweet chilli chicken with Bombay potatoes and peas. I have also frozen some of the cooked chicken.

Was messed around with the buses yesterday afternoon with the result that I was late to meet my walking group - by which time they had gone. I tried to play catch up and meet them as I know the walking route well; in the end I gave up and headed back to the cafe where we meet afterwards. I had a bit of explaining to do when they all arrived! I still got my usual number of walking steps in though!
And then my usual bus home was cancelled, so I walked half way then caught the next one.

A Bolognese to cook this morning, using some of the mince that came with my order yesterday. I shall freeze the remainder raw, and hopefully a few portions of Bolognese.

Early lunch and then out to book club where we shall be discussing The Marriage Portrait.
And then home to Bolognese for dinner.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

EkwaNimitee Wed 30-Jul-25 08:30:44

Good morning Mick and everyone from dull but dry Carlisle.

I had a busy morning yesterday, first cleaning bathrooms then out in the garden before lunch. I had wanted to plant a small conifer but noticed the grass was getting rather long and, remembering that it was garden waste collection next day, I cut it. After that, I spent some time titivating the block drive, removing overgrown moss and various weeds. Next job should be brushing some sand in, rain gradually washes it away from underneath so needs doing occasionally though so far I've not needed to do so.

Today, the ironing followed by a sweep through more drawers surveying (and clearing out?) cooler weather clothing. I must admit this early autumnal feel is a tad depressing.
I'll carry on reading this afternoon, I have Graham Brady's memoirs on his time as chairman of the 1922 Committee to read, dishing the dirt (I hope!) on the five PM's he served with.

Your trip seems to have done you good Bella even though you came over for a sad reason. The one good thing about a funeral is that it brings family and friends together when they might rarely see each other otherwise.

Hope that eye is soon improved madeleine.

And have a good day everyone.

Yogaknit Wed 30-Jul-25 08:41:21

Grey skies here in Kent today. I think I might spend a bit of time knitting before going out this afternoon for a food shop.
If you have the breakfast, Michael12 let us know tomorrow what it was like.
Best wishes to all.

Good morning all from a dull scene here on the northern edge of the Scottish Borders. 14°

I have my first viewing for my wee flat this afternoon and I thought it looked quite good until my friend pointed out a few details. One curtain is longer than the other on both windows. Can I be bothered to change them?
I have my yarn group this morning and a previous lodger/friend is coming for lunch.

You have made the best of your trip to England, Bellasnanna. Safe travels home.

I hope your eye heals soon Madeleine Take things easy.

I'm sorry Kalu that the work hasn't been done properly. That's disappointing. I am so looking forward to seeing the results when you're happy with them.

I was thinking of plonking some plants in the window box in the flat but maybe I'll leave it for the new tenant to do.

Safe journeys to Marydoll and to gMattie's son and anyone else travelling.

As my yoga teacher says: Remember to breathe.😂🤣

Good morning from a damp northwest coast.
DD, DS and DGD have now left after a busy few days. DS did a few useful jobs around the house and DD is very helpful, even giving me a pedicure, which she seems to enjoy.
I’m now lined up for a bedroom to be redecorated with a new window. I might choose a beach theme as I’m alongside the sand dunes, so blue and white are in my mind.

It’s tiring with people around, even family, when you are usually alone, but it was lovely to see them. The house needs a tidy now and sheets washed…

I’m off to the city soon and an immersive Monet exhibition. My pianist friend is coming through from Chester Bella a city I love and visit often.
Hope you make good progress madeleine and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning from Stockport.
I am going to a friend’s lovely apartment this morning for coffee and then a trip to M&S food for some treats.
My GS, the youngest aged 14 has an MRI scan this morning in Manchester, he has a condition called Pectus Excavatum which basically means his chest caves in not out.
It is often just a cosmetic issue but in his case is very deep.
He gets breathless easily and the scan is to see if his lungs and potentially his heart are affected.
It could mean surgery to insert a titanium bar in his chest.
We are rather concerned and will be pleased to get the result.
Chilly this morning so a change of planned clothes.
Have the best day everyone.

Blossoming Wed 30-Jul-25 10:02:27

Good morning everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

I’m sitting up in bed finishing a cup of tea, all meds taken. I must get up now and take a shower. MrB and I will be enjoying our usual walk down to the Dock gates to count the ducks.

Beautiful photos Bellasnana

A warm welcome to any new posters I may have missed.

Thinking of our poorly Grans and families, as always.

Have the best day you can everyone 🌹

Grandmabatty Wed 30-Jul-25 10:47:38

Usedtobeblonde my best wishes to your grandson. I hope his condition can be alleviated.
The blind man has been, measured up and given me a good price. So all steam ahead. Decorating and blinds in the next four weeks.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 30-Jul-25 15:45:54

Thank you Grandmabatty when they got to the hospital the MRI had been changed to a CT scan so it wasn’t so scary for him.
We now wait for the report from the Consultant who asked for the scan.
I went with my friend to a large M&S and sad to say I was overwhelmed, I have never felt like that before.
I got a few food bits and then we left.
Old age has a lot to answer for.
