Good morning from s somerset, hoping for a bit of rain later, dull and cloudy until 4ish
I lovely cycle ride for me yesterday, I was out early and there were only a couple of cars on the lanes. Back home by ten and out and in with the washing later due to wet drizzle.
I see that the adverts have gone out for apple tree shakers, probably next month and that is definitely a month earlier than normal. I do see that most fields are now bare of any crops and look ready to be ploughed for winter arables. Farmers have had a good `easy` harvest this year and there will be plenty of food stored for animals
I did do a little bit more on `downsizing` the garden, my young rowan, I took it out, it had rotten roots. I am not missing the height-givers, that role has been taken over naturally by the young trees and roses and the two heavy iron obeslisks are now on the allotment, to eventually be put in place for bean and cucumber supports
I see that the butternut squash plants have stopped spreading and the 7 squashes are starting to mature. They are atop one vegtrug and do not need the second trug for support.
I spent yesterday afternoon, very carefully emptying soil from 2nd trug to store in full big 40 litre trugs in the garage. I want to be moving dry soil in the future, not yet as my back needs to heal some more. 3x 26 litre trugs ordered online. I could get them locally but they are the same trugs at £13 cheaper for three. That size trug, 26litre, is far easier to manage than the 40litre big trugs. I am going to be very careful wrt my skeleton, I had a real shock when I had the awful hip and leg pain entirely due to twisting and lifting the big trugs which were only half full
My day today is based around a haircut this morning and then craft group later
Have a good day
