Good Morning Everyone ,
Its daylight with the Sun yet to rise here in Brackley this morning.
Today , usual routine of Breakfast , followed by a little bit of housework , and then get the bus to Bicester , hopefully chat to those i know , the temptation to have a highly recommended cafe for a all day breakfast is also a thought .
Return home and do more chores after lunch .
Health OK weight steady at the moment .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a cool but sunny mid Essex. After two hours awake in the middle of the night, I slept until 7.15 this morning. I’m still at DD1’s house, sleeping in the loft extension. When it cools down overnight, the contraction of the flat roof makes strange noises, which invariably wake me up!
Usual walk to get a paper yesterday, did a little housework and then went to DD2’s to look after the 7 year old for a couple of hours.
I’m going back to my house this morning just to pick up any post, and water anything that needs it.

susan how disappointing that you weren’t discharged yesterday, but hope you’ll be home soon.

baubles, such sad news for you and your family, sincere condolences to you.

I’m running later than planned this morning so will come back and read all your posts later. Have the best day you can everyone.

Another beautiful morning but no plans after yesterday’s assault on the windows though a load of washing is in the machine. Being able to rely on drying outside is a very real pleasure and a benefit of this fine weather.

Sad news from Baubles and hope Susan continues to improve; have a good day, everyone.

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a sunny north yorkshire with a slight breeze wafting through the tree branches. I would like to be out there now and enjoying the sunshine, but it has taken me ages to get going today even with a shower to try and loosen myself up. Very frustrating. can see lots of things I want to do, but they will have to wait until I can free myself up to be able to bend etc.

I did do quite a few jobs yesterday and cleared a few bits. Managed to get a load of washing done and out on the line to dry, but of course it is now waiting for me to iron it!! I need to check up on suitable irons and organize getting a new one from Tesco where I can use my clubcard points. Dont know why my old iron is letting me down as I think it is only about 10 years old!! Nothing built to last is it? I cant decide whether things are definitely not built to last these days, or whether I forget how long I have had something. For me its a case of if it aint broke dont fix it!! Most things I would look round a charity shop for, but electrical things especially things like the iron I do buy new. Hopefully I will find a steam one that is very light to use.

So market day today, and I shall be relying on the help from the stallholders . I usually use the buggy but park it up and go round the stalls and choose what I want. However on a day like today, where I am in a lot of pain and even the shower hasnt helped, I just stay on the buggy, wait for the crowd to be served and then call out to the stallholder to ask them to get things for me.As I am a regular customer and they tend to know the things I like , they are happy to get things for me and if I want I can look in the bag and check stuff, then give them the money and stow all my goodies in my bag and go on to the next stall or the bread shop. Today I fear I need the promise of a decent cup of coffee at Cafe NERO's at the other end of town to lure me out. I am really struggling today and it is not made any better by being frustrated and irritated by being so slow this morning. Oh well I will get there on my trusty steed sooner or later.

Yesterday managed to go to the games night at the pub, so that was progress. They had , to me, a new game, which was complicated and you need to think on various levels. Once I have learnt what all the charactors do and how they move I will have the opportunity to work out strategies, as you not only have to reach your own goal but defeat the opposition, so like that old trick where you rub your tummy with one hand and pat your head with the other, it takes a lot of concentration to do two things or more at once, Very interesting and as it was my first time I concentrated on learning who did what and hopefully the next time we play will be a bit more au fait. It is a very pleasant evening, where we get to use our brains and chat and I go mad and have half a pint of Aspalls cider too. What wild extravagance!! Tonight I carry on with the gay life by going to my whist night, and now can drive myself there. Who knows I might even win a raffle prize!! Well it is very pleasant to join with the others and meet up, whether I win or lose. Another thing is that it shows I have made progress as this time last week couldnt drive so , while it seems to be dreadfully slow, I am improving.

Go on Mick give yourself the treat of the all day breakfast!
Susan , glad to know you are improving, and hope you can get home soon, but better to stay in a couple more days than go home and have to come back to hospital!
Karmalady love reading all your doings, and wish I could still do lots of things. Couldnt manage to ride a bike now, although I did think about looking at an electric one, but realized that was a bit of a daft idea to try to start again at 80, so will just be grateful to get round on the buggy.
Greyduster hope you have a happy and productive day with your grandson. If we cant do things ourselves now it is great to see a job sorted isnt it? Cornergran hope you had a good drive home.

Well I shall come back and have a look on here later in the day, but time to stir my stumps and creak onto the yellow peril and face the market. May see a friend or two whilst I am out. Have a happy day everyone and take care

Good morning all. A bright start here in N. Bucks.
We had a lovely lunch and afternoon with our friends yesterday and packed them of with sandwiches and cake for their journey back to Devon.
Today we are are taking DGs2&3 to Stockwood Park. There is a discovery centre there, playground crafts and lots of space to run around. I think DD3 is more excited than the boys as she is planning a day all to herself. I think she deserves it.
Kind and healing thoughts to those who need them and a good day wished for all.

Good morning from sunny Suffolk where reading Baubles sad news has dented the enjoyment of this lovely weather.

Our keep fit teacher takes the whole of August off so no class today. I’m meeting one of my closest friends for lunch at a favourite pub in our nearest town. We are regulars and keep us a table in the window which overlooks the Main Street,a great spot for people watching as we chat.

Hope those who are not well and/ or worried have a good day.

Grammaretto Wed 06-Aug-25 08:15:10

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Quiet, dry, cool weather.
I shall be "yarning" this morning.

This evening I shall join the Peace Group in Peebles as we remember the Hiroshima bomb.

So sorry for you Baubles. I shall be thinking of M's family and you all.

I hope a few more days in hospital will help your recovery Susan.

Sorry your holiday was cut short Monk. Nice photos from yours crossstitchfan

Wishing everyone a pleasant day.

EkwaNimitee Wed 06-Aug-25 08:18:26

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.

Yesterday was quite busy with jobs and some clothes sorting though nothing for the charity shop. I'll probably have more of a clearout at the end of summer.
I went for a walk after lunch, having to wait for a sharp shower to end and getting home as another started so lucky there!
A few branches were off the trees and a lot of leaves so little damage from Floris. One swan family seem to have had a marital dispute, she was looking after the cygnets whilst he was at the other end of the Pond grooming himself. Unusual.

Today I am off out, I have cabin fever. I shall go for a short shop in the nearby village and then on to the garden centre for my 'free' coffee. I'm not buying plants, the garden is full. It's too small really but that's modern housing estates for you. My only criteria when moving here was that it should be flat unlike my previous cliff face one.

This afternoon, no plans, I'll probably read, there's plenty to go at.

baubles, your poor nephew, to feel that desperate...My condolences to you all.

GrannyIvy Wed 06-Aug-25 08:19:44

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where is looks bright and sunny. I’m meeting DD2 for a walk and some lunch but first I have a pedicure booked.

Book club was a good catch up last night with all my neighbours. Only 7 of us but very enjoyable. We are all going to read an autobiography of our choice before next months meeting. I will read Michael Ball’s he always interests me seems such a nice man. I normally prefer to lose myself in fiction so something different for me to read. I am also re visiting Felix Francis books.

Such sad news baubles condolences to you all.

Susan do hope you will soon be feeling much better and can go home.

Have the best day possible everyone

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 13°C,

Baubles, I shall keep your nephew and family in my prayers. ♥️

Susan, understandably it is frustrating, but your consultant knows best. Make the best of the rest and build up your strength. 💐

We had a delightful morning with Dollie, but not before making an absolute fool of myself in the surgery.
I got so muddled about my prescription, (dreadful brain fog), but the receptionist and one of the grumpier GPSs were so kind to me.
I am sad at my decline, I used to be so sharp and quick witted. It's even more difficult for me, because I am aware I have a problem.

I managed to get my ceramic bird bath, however I will not bore you with DH's antics, suffice to say, my BP was rising by the second.
While Dollie and papa wandered round the toy shop (where she conned him into buying something), I took myself to TKMaxx to have another look at a clay urn, that I had spotted the previous day, but it had no price. I got it for £6.99!! What a bargain. A few of my herbs pots are cracked, so the marjoram will be going in it.
Then I spotted Clarks sandals in exactly Babydoll's size and fitting, DIL was delighted with that bargain!
It was then home to chill and have lunch in the conservatory, well Dollie did, I made Scotch broth, because my mouth is so painful and soup is easy to eat.

I ran to the pharmacy with my prescription, only to find myself sitting on a bench in the Main Street, with my arms around my sobbing hairdresser, who had just come out of the doctor's, after finding another lump on her breast.
Her life is a car crash. Among many tribulations, her husband is about to be sentenced in court and her home has been fumigated, due to a flea infestation from her cats. It is like a storyline from a soap opera.
I just couldn't leave her sitting there. 😪

Today, I am meeting DD in town, we haven't been able to spend much time together recently. It is eight months since losing her job of over twenty years and she starts a new career in the Civil Service on Monday, she is understandably anxious.
She doesn't shop, but hopefully she will pander to me Care in the community^, she calls it, 😄

My Swatch watch needs a battery and the Swatch shop will replace it for free.
It is right next door to JL, how opportune! 😉

Pleased to see Bellasnana, is home safely and Sar, praying your DGD makes a speedy recovery.

Have a good day folks and I hope you find many bargains, Grand Mattie,

Marydoll Wed 06-Aug-25 08:24:17

Good morning from Sunny Wiltshire. The weather looks set to change to warmer and drier conditions again by the weekend. Ocado delivery arriving this morning.

Yesterday we had both the youngest GCs for the day. We took them on the bus to Chippenham. At 4, it was GS2’s 2nd trip ever on a bus. Naturally we had to sit upstairs at the front. Later on we went blackberry picking. There were literally millions of them but most were already too squishy to pick with many rotting on their stems so we’re a week or 2 too late. At the start of August! We’ve only just started having them both together as although they have many spats they also play together now a lot better.

I’m sorry you haven’t been discharged Susan56. I hope it
will happen very soon.

My heart goes out to you Baubles. That’s so awful for your family.

Bella I’m glad your journey back to Malta was uneventful and it must have been lovely to see your boys again. We are travelling to Chania, Crete with Jet2 next month.

Really good to hear your lesion does not appear to be as bad as it might have been Rosie.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery to your DH Monks8 and to your DGD Sar53.

Enjoy the sun everyone if you can.

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Small turnout at the music club yesterday and there was a birthday. Extra cake left which I was able to take home, although the dress I wore after nearly a year shows me I have put some weight on…
I took a broken gold chain to a jeweller to be made into a bracelet, better than it just hanging about.

Today a little gardening and acrylic painting.
Sincere condolences to baubles and thoughts to all🌺

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 06-Aug-25 08:55:47

I didn’t read the thread yesterday RosiesMaw but I’m pleased to hear your diagnosis of your skin lesion was not as scary as you feared. You’ll be in safe hands now, in the system, with an expert team treating you.

cornergran Wed 06-Aug-25 08:57:48

So sorry baubles. Devastating situation.

RosieandherMaw Wed 06-Aug-25 09:02:02

A late Good Morning from N Bucks although in my defence I was up at 6 to let Rosie out, made myself a mug of tea which sat cooling on the bedside table for the next 2 hours as I slept on.
Looks like a sunny day but still pleasantly fresh. No set plans for today, clearing out and cleaning etc the fridge yesterday was strangely satisfying. Might tackle the freezer next.

Baubles my sincerest sympathy to you and all your nephew’s family.
The suicide of a loved one is surely one of the hardest bereavements to face. It shows the depths of despair he must have reached but hope he is at peace now. 💐

Morning all, baubles ❤️
