Royal FB friend?

I had one from the late Pope but I had to disappoint him as I'm neither Catholic or religious. He was friends with someone I know though so I suspect it was a genuine request.

I got one only yesterday from a retired US military man who was desperate to be my friend. I don't know why they're so often soldiers. If I was in the market for a man, which I'm not, a American soldier wouldn't be my ideal. I don't think we would have much in common, given my strongly left-leaning political opinions.

Why don't they try to branch out a bit? I would quite like to be chatted up by a historian or an archaeologist, but I suppose that might be a bit out of the scammer's league. How about a gardener? That could be charming. A bit difficult, though, if you're pretending to be American and the only gardening you've ever done is in Nigeria.

I get occasional American Miltary types, sometimes commenting on a post saying how kind and interesting I sound. If I respond it is to tell them to get a life!
My 'people you may know' often features my ex husband and even the woman he left me for! Most are people I know vaguely or are friends of friends. No celebrities though!
The thing I have had lately is people randomly sending text messages asking me to add them on WhatsApp - I've had a few of those. Not sure what the scam is but I just block them!

I had a dashedly handsome surgeon trying to befriend me on Facebook. I did a picture reverse lookup - it was the same face as on Facebook. I blocked the Facebook request because he is probably a scammer who is using a fake profile. 🙄
