Good morning from a bright, warm Durham. Torrential rain last night.
Since returning from USA, I’ve turned into Rip Van Winkle - hopefully not permanent and just because of the ‘lurgy’.
I’ve no plans for today, but I’ll potter in the house and give everywhere a damp dust.
Good luck to FGT’s dear man today. DH’s lovely Consultant often rang him in the evenings with news of his many tests.

Best wishes to all. X

Another one sending good wishes to the FGT’s for a positive outcome from today’s scan - and hope you don’t have to wait too long for the results. 💐
Thinking also of SueD, Yia and MD.

Hello, I’m very new so hope this is in right place. Do any other grandsneters only get 4/5 hours sleep? It’s worrying me.

Hello! Nice to meet you! If you want lovely chats, advice, and sometimes a shoulder to cry on, you have come to the right place. Whatever concerns you have, there will, 9 times out of 10, be someone who can help, even if only by being a sympathetic ear. I love it on here!
You asked if anyone else has a sleep problem. I think you’ll find most of us have! I am lucky to get more than 5 hours a night, if that. I was once told that the more you worry about it, the worse it gets. So I go with the flow, getting up if necessary on a really bad night. I then make a cup of tea and drink it in the living room, I then go to bed as if it’s the first attempt and that often works. (That’s why I don’t take the tea to bed).
I don’t know how old you are, but lack of sleep is practically a given in old age. I try not to worry as that never helps!
If you have a bad night, why don’t you come on here instead of trying to sleep? I guarantee there’ll be someone ready to chat and it’s reassuring to know you,’re not the only one awake at 3am! I find I can normally drop off after that.
Good luck!

Good morning from sunny South Lanarkshire.

Birthday granddaughter and I had a lovely few hours together in town yesterday. Filming of the new Spider-Man film continues in Glasgow city centre so a couple of streets are blocked off.

Afterwards we spent time with DH’s brother and his wife. The house is chock full of bouquets of flowers which sadly are beginning to die.

I’m going to do my shift at the charity shop today.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. My phone was flat so couldn't come on here until charged a bit
Instead I sat in my garden bower knitting and thinking who I can persuade to come with me to the theatre tomorrow. It's Romeo and Juliet and I love Shakespeare but can't find another enthusiast to join me.

The DGC came yesterday and dug up all my potatoes and picked plums. A massive crop with some left for the birds and the deer.

They then painted pottery but we forgot to read the labels on the colours and there was horror expressed that their pink mugs might turn out orange!

I rang the doctor about my painful hip and leg and have an appointment with the physio this Friday! Another reason I have to stay in my town and not move somewhere more picturesque.

All the best today FGT🤞
I remember those days so well.

Sorry about your new diagnosis Marydoll I wish there was a cure.

Enjoy the day everyone and keep cool.

Good morning all

Very muggy and overcast here at the moment. It is supposed to brighten up, but is not showing any sign of doing so yet.
I hope all goes well for the FGT’s today.

Sorry to read of yet another health issue Marydoll and hope your GP actually stirs him/herself for your treatment plan.

What an interesting day you had in Whitby Madeleine. I admire your resolve to get out there whilst you can. I love Whitby, but have never been to the regatta.

Well, I hope you all have a good day and that those of you struggling in any way, have a better day today. Oh, and welcome, mernice. As others say, I think broken sleep patterns comes as we age, unfortunately. I agree that getting up for a while rather than tossing and turning can sometimes help, too.

Grammaretto I would have loved to see Romeo and Juliet with you! It was one of my favourite plays to teach. Sadly I'll be supervising the painter

Grandmabatty - thank you so much.

We also went to Linton and Woolacombe. Such a beautiful part of the world.

Grandmabatty Tue 12-Aug-25 14:18:19

We went to Woolacombe Bay too. My exh had an aunt and uncle who lived in a beautiful white house on the harbour front. They used to do bed and breakfast. We visited with my parents and we're made very welcome. They took us to friends who lived in Linton. What a beautiful village full of flowers.
It's a long journey there from central Scotland unfortunately

JamesandJon33 Tue 12-Aug-25 17:49:46

I remember going to Ilfracombe, by ferry from SWales. It was the week after the Lynmouth- Linton floods. We stayed in Combe Martin and there was a lot of debris on the beaches . Now and then a claxon would sound and parents would take children off the beaches. Sadly it was when a body was washed up.
