GrandMattie a bittersweet recollection for you 💐. Glammagran oh my sympathies. When my two squabble, (23 hours out of 24) it's so wearing and tiring. I haven't yet found a threat that works!
If we squabbled, my mother used to banish us to the garden. We were only allowed back in if we had patched things up!
Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow, where it is 13°C.
Mick, stay home and rest, which is the advice after a heart scare.
I spent yesterday morning, waiting for my telephone appointment and when eventually the doctor phoned, papa was nowhere to be seen and BabyD was climbing all over me.
I had to apologise to my GP,and go into the garden to look for him.
I was shouting like a fishwife, trying to get his attention with a toddler clinging to my leg,
When he did eventually try take BabyD, she started screaming and I could not hear the now impatient doctor,
It was not a satisfactory consultation.
When I listed all the debilitating symptoms I had, he was very dismissive, saying that is probably part of everything going on. He just didn't grasp how miserable and unwell I am feeling.
Knowing how positive and upbeat I usually am, he should have realised that all is not good.
I tried to explain that my consultant had stopped a medication, thinking that may be the cause, he wasn't interested. I tried to inform him, that the hospital Oral Medicine dept. were involved, because after eight months, my mouth is still full of lesions, some of which have never healed. He wasn't interested.
Thinking I was going to start treatment to resolve my problems, he said that he was concerned my meds were not to blame and nothing can be done, until more blood tests are done.
He suspects, there may be another reason for my ailments.
The only positive outcome is that I have had to cancel my plans for today and go and get bloods done. There is usually a three week wait! I have queue jumped.
Also on top of everything else, apparently I am anaemic and he will leave a prescription.
The only time I have been ever been anaemic is during my pregnancies. Could I be pregnant? 🤣
Most of the day was spent in the garden yesterday. DH and I were soaked to the skin, the culprit, a wee devil ♥️, who had the time of her life in the paddling pool.
I looked around at our beautiful garden and our darling Duracell bunny and thought how blessed I am.
I have attached a photo of one tearful toddler, having ice lolly therapy, after falling and bursting her lip. There was blood everywhere! DH just stood there panicking!!!
I didn't know how to tel), her parents.
I needn't have worried, she had done exactly the same the previous day. Her daddy was also, that reckless and fearless child. 😍
By the time I got to church last night, I was on auto pilot and on my knees with tiredness,
A parishioner approached me and gave me a gift of Prosecco and a thank you card, saying that I do so much for parishioners.
I was taken aback and a little tearful at this unexpected kind gesture.
I wish you all the best of days.
Good to see Whiff posting here, welcome.
Bora Da everyone, and as Marydooll has said, if you have health problems, stay home and rest.
It’s quite bright and sunny here in Carmarthenshire. Not much to do…always gardening but it will be too hot for that.
But I am going to submit my third book today. Fingers crossed
Enjoy the weather if you are able
She's a wee honey Marydoll
Good morning from bright South Lanarkshire.
stilllearning and I had such a good day out yesterday in Glasgow, coffee, scones, and a mooch around a bookshop, chatting all the while.
Today is Edinburgh day. We will hear how school has been, hopefully the little one’s excitement at starting P1 hasn’t abated and the eldest is liking her teacher this year.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Another hot day in prospect so apart from the oldies’ coffee morning I shall not attempt much apart from a load or two of laundry. Yesterday I washed woollen sweaters so they are ready for cooler weather when it comes. Wish I felt more energetic as I am really good at doing nothing, not at all usual for me. Sympathetic thoughts to all unwell and battling to be heard, especially Marydoll who is having such a hard time.
Good morning all from a muggy Black country.
Didn't sleep well last night and stomach doesn't feel right this morning so will not be doing much today.
Whiff my dad fought in Burma he was in the Chindits he is another who never spoke about it and we also found out not long before he died that he'd had a bullet straight through his elbow.
Take care with your foot Madeleine .
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.
Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞 day in Northampton; another hot one forecast.
Walked to the postbox yesterday morning before it got too warm, then pottered at home; did a load of washing, a pile of washing-up, and then cleaned out the cats' litter tray. After lunch spent the afternoon reading and finished my book (but disappointed with the ending!). Watered the garden later on before dinner.
Dance classes this morning, then will have a walk or catch the bus to the shops . There's a few things I need for the weekend.
Take care Mick and don't overdo it after your heart scare the other day.
Wishing all a pleasant day.
Good morning everyone from a sunny south coast where it’s going to be very warm again.
DD is picking me up today to go shopping as she needs some new curtains for their spare bedroom. I need a new omelette pan and a combination lock for my side gate. The last one was stolen when I left it dangling because I’d unlocked the gate for the window cleaner. I blame an Amazon delivery driver as the gate is at a right angle to my front door but as I don’t have a door cam I can’t prove anything. They’re not cheap and a lesson has been learned to bring it indoors next time.
Yesterday’s U3a picnic was good fun and as there was a light breeze and plenty of shade we were able to enjoy being outside in the early afternoon. The mayor joined us as it was the 30th annivertof our local group beng set up and I was amused that she was accompanied by a burly minder. She told me that he was not there to protect her but the gold chain! The mind boggles! 😂
I hope everyone has the best day possible. Please take care Mick.
Good morning from sunny NE.
It was a warm night so I kept the Dyson on all night and left the duvet off.
Nothing planned for today, may start another book, the one I started the other day was drivel so I binned it.
DD and SIL are travelling from Brussels to London this morning, it is their 33rd wedding anniversary. They are having lunch at The Ivy and then going to the Proms.
DS and family are enjoying their week in Berlin, I am amazed at the amount of things they manage to achieve.
Well done to the A level students.
Have a good day.
Good morning all .
That’s a lovely story GM. .
Yesterday went well at the eye clinic, with very attentive staff and lovely co-patients to chat to. I was no. 2 on the list for the cataract removal and a painless, rather strange experience was had. I told the family it reminded me of a psychedelic trip , back in the 60’s 🤣 .( I never so much as had a cigarette ). 😉
Dd and gd picked me up and came back to wait on us.
Had a good night and am hoping for great things.🙏.
Today I’ll be resting up - it’s hard not to bend and ignore things that need doing.
Well done to all the clever GC and their A level results - 3 A*s. Wow!
To those who didn’t do so well, don’t worry. Things will turn out and all will be well. 🙏. It’s a stressful time for all concerned.
We have a DGD waiting for GCSE results next week 🤞.
Enjoy your Italian tonight GG. Thanks for your kind thoughts.
Continue having a lovely time in Holland Sar. When are you back?
Enjoy the day if you can and keep cool. ☀️
.
Good morning all from a lovely cool Co Armagh, it’s to get warmer later
Greenhouse sorted , blinds down and doors open , I’ll have to remember to close windows and doors shortly as I’m toddling off to Mass , candles will be lit
Gingster it is very difficult to remember not to bend over! I'm glad it went well. Keep using the eyedrops!
I know, I already did a `good morning` post but am confined to quarters or I will overboil
I am showered and changed and already very hot. It will be a long day
A photo is attached of my new jumper. The easiest jumper to knit and in sizes from child to big adult. Free pattern from tincanknits. I just adapted width size to my tension. I am utterly happy with it. 3 ply is like a tube and mixes the colours more but it will not pil nor wear out
Now I intend to make more space for knitting needle storage, neatly on a shelf downstairs. I have 4 large caselogic files full of CDs and DVDs. I think I can reduce to two, need to be ruthless. That should take me nicely to mid afternoon, a slow mo job that will not overheat me
monk08 my dad's regiment where with the Chindits ,Gurkhas and Sikh regiments at times. He greatly admitted all of them . But said the Gurkhas where fierce fighters. The British army had a way to lace their boots. Dad said the Gurkhas would crawl up to sleeping troops of the enemy and feel their boots if it wasn't laced the correct way they ham stringed them .
One of my dad's stories him and friends loved to ride. And they where playing follow the leader. Dad was on this giant horse and it got stung by a hornet and took off down this great big bank and galloped through trees with my dad holding on for dear life . After dad said felt like miles he got the horse under control. He's friends said bloody hell B what were trying to do kill us. Dad said no you bloody fools the horse got stung by a hornet why did you follow . They all laughed and said they thought he knew what he was doing. 😂
Morning all from a muggy West Oxfordshire. It’s going to be hot 🔥
I will probably stay in and try and keep cool. OH has U3A croquet after lunch.
Have a good day and drink plenty.
Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire.
Yesterday my BP was 118/75, hope the trend continues. Just a few more days of daily checks then I’ll go back to checking it weekly. It’s going to be a beautiful day. Only plans for today are our usual morning walk.
Hope your foot improves Madeleine.
What a wee cutie Marydoll, I can’t believe she’s ever naughty! I’m sure she’d give that GP short shrift.
Thinking of our poorly grans and those with troubles.
Wishing you all a good day, whatever you’re doing 🌹
Karma that is a lovely jumper. I've hung out a washing but the sky is getting very dark. A possibility of thunder?I'm going to attempt to rehang my living room curtains. If you don't hear from me tomorrow, I'll have fallen off the steps!😂
Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Nice lunch with my friend of long standing yesterday. He is 91 this week and doing very well. I had duck then cheesecake so no need to bother about a meal in the evening. The lunch was on me and I gave him a hand painted card and a soap on a rope from a very tasteful shop in the village. His cousin used to play the piano for me years ago and died from motor neurone disease aged forty two, a real tragedy.
Two windows were measured up to be replaced next month.
In the evening I found a series from 1979 on tv, Flambards, and find I enjoy them more than series made now, although the picture quality leaves something to be desired.
DS says he thinks he can fix my car without using the garage now it’s failed it’s MOT, which would be great, so we’ll see. He’s very handy. He has a ‘gig’ in the city tonight and invited me, but I’d have to use taxis to the station as car out of action and I’m feeling fatigued on top of the music not really my cup of tea, so will give it a miss.
Glad your op’ is over Gingster, don’t overdo it Mick and thoughts to all🌺
Good morning from a clear but not yet sunny Stockport.
Yesterday was cooler but very humid.
I was at my friend’s house in the afternoon when at precisely 3pm the heavens opened for about 10 minutes when it stopped as abruptly as it started, the sun came out and everything dried up.
She was ,as usual, difficult, she has constant trouble with her bank, either she is unlucky but more likely she is making errors.
I advised her to get in touch with her S to sort it out.
I feel exasperated by her but guilty if I don’t see her regularly, she sees no one but me and family every 2/3 months , with her S not even that.
My blood tests were over in less than 5 minutes, I shall get a phone call if anything untoward is found, otherwise a phone call next Thursday from the Pharmacist to discuss my meds and approve them for another year.
Quiet day today, enjoy it if you can everyone.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Warm again.
I'm sitting in the doctors waiting room to see a physio. I'm hobbling about in quite a lot of discomfort.
I've told work I'll be late.
Such a sweet photo of baby doll MD 😍
Thinking of squabbling siblings: when we lost DGD1 on the Meadows last year, her sister, amid sobs, said she didn't want to lose her sister, she loved her and promised to share all her treasures if only she would see her again. We found her sister.
Have a great day everyone.
A very late good morning from Malta where it is 38°C and, as Ashcombe pointed out, it is the Feast of the Assumption which is a public holiday here.
DD3 and her husband were out celebrating as it is their local village feast. I stayed over and slept quite well despite all the fireworks.
The boys had tired me out! Wish I had half their energy.
This morning we woke at 7am and I have brought the boys to my house so their parents can sleep as they rolled home early this morning!
I haven’t had time to read all the posts yet, will do so at leisure later once my little treasures have gone home!
Have a good day all.☀️
Good morning from a sunny W Kent very late today and sorry haven’t read all your posts but just wanted to say that my two GDs have their University places after lots of ups and downs but unfortunately DGS4 is at this time being operated on for a perforated appendix, we are all waiting for WhatsApps and phone calls.
Take care all
