Morning from a bright S Hants, yesterday was grey all day, but warm enough with a breeze, beetroot pickled and I’ve tomato sauce in the slow cooker ready to freeze.
MrJ seems recovered from his 12 hour sickness, most odd, it meant he was subdued all day.
Usual meat draw later today, not sure what’s for dinner yet, I’ll be giving away more tomatoes, it is a bumper year.

Maw, I had to laugh at your comment about the wrong date.
The P.P caused much consternation yesterday, by writing an incorrect date in the bulletin. Minutes after sending it, I was inundated with messages, advising me I had got the date wrong. Oh no I hadn't!! 🤣
Have people nothing better to do on Saturday, but complain about minor issues, it was obvious for a number of reasons, that the date was wrong!

I was so busy dealing with a number of problems, caused by the P.P.s forgetfulness, including placating an understandibly upset parishioner, that despite my intention of going down earlier, I was actually late opening up the Church. 😡
I'm having to pace myself at the moment, everything is taking twice as long.

I plan to do nothing, but potter about today, the spirit is strong, but my body is blooming useless. I have indicated that I am taking a step back for a few weeks and only dealing with essential tasks.
The difficulty is, that I look so well, in fact better than I have looked in years, that parishioners are unaware that I am very unwell and struggling to do things! I'm sure people think I am making up my cornucopia of conditions, no-one can be that unlucky.😉

Good morning from Malta where we have had some spectacular thunderstorms and enough rain to cause flooding in some areas. Still fairly hot at 35°C though.

I did manage to get a few things done yesterday in between feeling a bit weak and feeble. Changed the sheets which I’m always anxious to do when I’ve been unwell. It’s so nice to get into fresh ones.

I didn’t dare eat much and had no appetite so a cuppa soup, some crackers and a spoonful of jelly was all I could manage.

I sat up watching the tennis until late but was comfy lying on the sofa. I feel a lot better today thank goodness.

Madeleine what a lovely day you described, it takes me back to when DH and I used to go and stay with my cousin who lived in Lastingham. We loved that area but sadly my cousin died aged 60 and DH not long after so I haven’t been back.

Your cruise sounds lovely Pantglas. Hope you ontinue to have a relaxing time.

No idea what today will bring. I’m going to take it easy and hopefully have a chat with my pal in Leicester as it’s weeks since we were able to FaceTime due to my being away and then she had grandchildren staying.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it’s going to be cooler I’m glad to say. Yesterday it was overcast all day and all the better for that. After my dreadful night, I fell asleep in my recliner for a couple of hours around midday and felt better for it. DD and the menfolk came over later and brought fish and chips for tea. Today I don’t plan to do very much. I have a drawing to work on, a book to finish, and may have a walk through the lanes later.

I'm sorry I'm an irregular poster, but life events get in the way at the moment. Often it's late afternoon or the evening before I catch up with your news, which feels to late for me to comment.

It's been a week of ups and downs for lots of you healthwise. Sending healing wishes to you and/or family members.

Yesterday 2 of my college friends of 40 years ago came to visit and we spent a lovely afternoon catching up with the news and eating cake in the garden. DH gets on well with their husbands so it was a very pleasant afternoon.

Good morning from Sunnyside sandhills northwest coast.
Another quiet day yesterday with time in the garden and sand dunes. I didn’t see my hedgehog in the evening, but there is water there for it.
My cat had a face off with a large pedigree cat which had the audacity to stroll into the hall and had no intention of leaving. It might be pedigree, but I thought it was very ugly (cream and brown) and prefer my own tortoiseshell. Unearthly territorial sounds from my cat and it turned on me, spitting etc. as i shooed it out.

Today I’m putting a few things together for my little trip to the Isle of Man tomorrow. It’s a nostalgic trip as I went every year with late DH starting in 1972. I’m going in the steam packet as a foot passenger and looking forward to the steam railway. Coincidentally met a volunteer on the railway at a carol concert in the Albert Hall last December, so will get in touch.

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a fine day ahead, but much cooler - I may get out and do some gardening; there are one or two plants that have seen better days.

Yesterday was quite chilly, the sun didn't appear, and I was in a cardigan all day. Went to see the new Naked Gun yesterday, which was very funny, so many silly jokes.

No real plans for today, a.bit of gardening, catch up with the papers and start a new.book.

Pantglas, you must be on the lovely Spirit of Discovery, I can just imagine you on there, so have a wonderful time! I was on at Easter, and will be again next year. Enjoy your mile around the.deck!

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Temperature in the house is comfortable and I slept well for a change.
Yesterday I did nothing but listen to piano music and crosswords.
Late afternoon the sun put in an appearance so I went into the garden and dead headed the plants.
DD messaged me from London, she was at the Proms watching the Aurora orchestra, she asked me to record it because it is on TV tonight. She said it was spectacular and wants to keep the recording.
GD sent more photos of Berlin, she is studying photography for GCSE and she has been very busy with her SLR. She sent one of the remaining piece of the wall. The last time DS was there was before the wall came down, he and his sister went through checkpoint Charlie to visit relatives in East Berlin.
Another quiet day, maybe read in the garden.

Better nights sleep but still waking every hour but dropping almost straight off again.
Need to pop to Aldi for a few bits then will continue with my book, no thoughts as for dinner as yet dont seem to have any appetite see what DH fancies.

It is definitely 17th August today Maw unless I am having a 2 day birthday.

I was out for the day with the foraging walk in the morning, learning so much from the expert about the secret life of plants and trees.
One misnomer is the bullrush.
Apparently the picture bible most of us remember from childhood showing Moses in the bullrushes should be in the cats' tails.
Then a picnic lunch and quick change to arrive fashionably late at this gorgeous small hotel in Gullane.
Afternoon tea in the garden, originally designed by Gertrude Jekyll.
We didn't add in an evening swim though I had brought my togs as my Helpers were at home preparing our dinner!
Thoroughly spoiled and like you pantglas need to walk it off.

Hello and good morning everyone. I just wanted to pop in and say how much I learn and enjoy your posts Madeleine. I can imagine that little family next to you were as delighted to listen as I was to read.

Things are not so good here. We are having a tough time waiting for scan results.

It’s good to be having a quiet weekend. Next week promises to be busy and younger son is coming next weekend.

No church today as there isn’t a nearby service in the Benefice.

I will make Finnish soup for dinner. Daughter and I discovered it in Helsinki last summer. Salmon, dill, new potatoes, carrots, leeks, cream and fish stock. Delicious.

Good morning from Stockport
I had a lovely unexpected afternoon yesterday, the plans my GD and her BF had fell through so the asked me if I would like to go to Buxton.
It is only about a 25 minute drive so they put my scooter in the car and off we went.
There was a huge concert and food fair in the Pavilion gardens which we decided not to go into as it was £30 entrance each.
However we could hear the music all over the little town.
We pottered about, such a delight for me on my scooter, something I couldn’t have pictured myself doing.
My GD went to fill her water bottle up at the natural spring as were several others and to everyone’s surprise the water was hot.
It just shows how very hot it has been and how the ground is retaining the heat.
After a delightful few hours we called at a favourite “ fine dining pub” where I treated us all to a lovely meal.
A quick drink at home and a chat and I went up to bed in a much more relaxed frame of mind and slept well.
I am so grateful for their company and their kindness to me.
A cooler week to come but pleasant sounding temperatures so enjoy if you can.
