God Morgen 👋 from a grey Norway, it’s promising gorgeous 🌞 by the time we drift through our first fjord to Bergen so I’m enjoying my Twinings on the balcony ☕️ before a four lap=one mile trot around the deck. I need to do something vigorous to counteract three meals a day!

Happy birthday to Grammaretto and Mr KL 🥂 hope the weather is good for the celebrations and I’m sorry to miss the Balloon event Susan - that’s going in my diary for next year!

Our sea day yesterday was filled with art class, quilling and stained glass making then Book Club which kept me away from the afternoon tea…🤭. The next four days will be off the ship on excursions so not as hectic!

Have a good day all who can x

Good morning, I haven’t looked outside yet so apart from the sky slowly lightening through the gap in my bedroom curtains, I imagine it’s much the same as yesterday 😊
I’ve been awake for a while, another restless night with very strange dreams, probably because I enjoyed an Aperol spritzer last night 🙄, I so rarely drink 🤷🏼‍♀️ maybe I should have one more often!
Off for a walk with the dogs shortly, probably from the next village for a change, I do love my early walks.
I’m getting an awning put on my shed today, that’ll help with shading, I bet that the weather will change now! Apart from that nothing on today.
Have a lovely day 🌹

Good morning from another hot morning in Bristol. Actually, it’s the days that are hot! Mercifully, the nights are tolerable.
Yesterday was as usual, church coffee then- cut short as I was expecting Philip’s girlfriend to lunch on her way home from Newquay to Canterbury. It took her over4 hours to do just that “short” section of the journey. Apparently, the traffic was horrendous.
We had a lovely chat, and I took her for a bit of a leg stretch before her remaining bit of her trip. I was so touched that she should want to see me.
In the evening, I went to the kitchen for a drink and noticed that the floor was wet. As I hadn’t spilt anything, I wiped it just in case. It was wet again. Oh, rats! Must be the washing machine leaking. I moved the washing machine out, was horrified at what had accumulated under it - cue a sweep and wash. Tried to put it back. Washing machines are heavy , managed most of it, but the last 6” or so were immovable.
Next item that could leak was the fridge/freezer. Found that it was from the defrost thingy being partially blocked. Mopped all that up…. (Just checked, it’s all dry. Yay!)
I asked DD for help if someone could move the washing machine. She has “volunteered “ SiL who’s coming over today.
In contrast, I think today will be very quiet!
I hope today will be quiet (and cooler) for everyone. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🌷🦩

Good morning from a cooler Glasgow but temperatures are going up again, 26deg. Today.

I had a pleasant constructive day in the garden yesterday working my way through small tasks at my own pace, it was very satisfying and therapeutic. More of the same today plus a Waitrose visit late afternoon when it will be quieter. After the upheaval of work going on for over two weeks, I am enjoying the peace and quiet once more.

Best wishes to all for a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning from a breezy but cloudy Torbay.

How thoughtful of Philip's girlfriend to call in you, ggrandMattie!

My DS and DGS3 called in briefly yesterday morning to make up a picnic before setting off for the zoo. They travelled home late afternoon and had a good journey up to the Midlands, arriving just after 8.00 pm. It was a lovely few days spent with them.

Last night, I was a pre-booked ticket distributor at the theatre, watching The Good Life again, which I enjoyed much more because I sat near the front. The audience was very responsive and full of positive comments as they left.

A blessed Sunday to you all and a happy cruise to Pantglas2. 🦩🥰✝️💐🦩

Good morning from sunny s somerset, Lovely morning today, breezy through the house and heat won`t build until lunchtime. Much better

I need to grab the chance to get out on a cycle ride, this morning by 9. I was in all day yesterday but was quietly busy, on my feet all day. Sorting all my knitting tools and equipment from the year dot. I enjoyed myself so much and also unearthed a little more space, with more space to come

Unashamedly I treated myself at the end of the day, I can easily justify the expense. All of it, costing far less than a holiday

I have ordered a fantastic Japanese set of interchangeable needles, my choice of 12 tip sizes and several cords etc plus the cloth case for them. Such good reviews and they will be good tools for years to come. From the manufacturers online site rather than a UK site as I wanted to choose all the sizes

Then I ordered another project bag, leather, expensive and wonderful. I already have some of the other styles but they are smaller. Might as well tell you, it is called project 39. Made in Denmark and I use the others all the time. So tactile to use and designed by knitters. I bought walnut

No buyers remorse this morning, just excitement.

I have found a charity crafting/selling group that supports special needs people who work in their cafe. A few people from my locality have been and are thoroughly impressed and heart-warmed by that group. I now believe that I have, at last, found a home for weaving equipment and yarn that I have never used. I prefer to donate rather than sell anything. So yes I do have that excited, uplifted feeling today

Cycle ride and spinning today, I am loving my new `fluff` alpaca/Falklands merino. Very easy on my hands and it drafts like a dream. Spinning is like being rocked in a cradle

Today a bit more clearing and I will unearth all that weaving stuff, to take next week. Later I will watch one of my old classic films on dvd. Hedonistic day for me

Have a good day

Good morning all from a brightish North Leicestershire.

Hopefully we are on track for DH's big party. The caterers are arriving at 11.30 and we have a few last minute jobs to do.

I'm at the stage of thinking that I will be glad when it is all over!!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good Morning from Durham. It’s blue sky here and going to be very warm later.
DGS2 was so excited to be sleeping over, he was still ‘bouncing off the walls’ at 10pm, so I hope he doesn’t wake too early.
We are going to a sunflower farm, just outside the City today, which we’ll enjoy - 23 and 24 were cancelled due to bad weather. DD2 is flying to Southampton tomorrow, so I might end up hanging onto Little Dog for a few extra days. He’s no trouble, but does curtail some activities as I won’t leave him for long periods.

Best wishes to all. X

luluaugust Sun 17-Aug-25 07:08:49

Good morning from a sunny W Kent
Karmalady sounds like a satisfying and useful sort of day
Things rumble along here, DS still in bed with Covid, we spoke to him and his voice sounds more normal.
DGS4 is having difficulty eating and has had to have a nasal drip overnight I think he will be in hospital a bit longer than first thought. Having Type1 diabetes doesn’t help but I suppose an emergency operation can bring added problems
DH and I will have our usual Sunday and chat to DB followed by lunch. I think I might read in the garden later
Very best wishes all round

cornergran Sun 17-Aug-25 07:10:58

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset

A breeze kept things comfortable yesterday, a similar day ahead I think. We’ve begun a big-for-us garden project, will carry on slowly as the week progresses. The garden is very dusty, plants are struggling now.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Georgesgran Sun 17-Aug-25 07:11:44

Spoke too soon - he’s up!!

RosieandherMaw Sun 17-Aug-25 07:14:21

Good morning from N Bucks where it is clear and sunny. Yesterday was considerably cooler which was so welcome. I have been “dreading” what the temperature might be in the Lot-et-Garonne next week and was delighted to see it is due to drop from 40C to the mid-20’s - they must have known we were coming. And breathe!
It’s felt lonely these last few days- D1 and family are in Botswana and 2 and 3 and their families camping on the Île de Ré, all with intermittent or no wi-fi or just having too much fun to break “radio silence”. Although they live 75 miles from me in different directions and we may only talk once a week, I have really missed them!
BTW I do believe it’s the 17 August today or else my €* and TGV tickets for tomorrow 18 août are wrong confused
Either way, wishing you a peaceful and pleasant Sunday.

Gingster Sun 17-Aug-25 07:20:51

Good morning all and it’s bright and sunny here in Essex.
Hopefully just a pleasant warm day, not hot .

Yesterday was quiet - I did manage to take out little pooch for a couple of short walks. Dh got fish and chips for tea and we watched a lovely film together (very unusual for us). ‘Lion’ a true story.

DS2 phoned to tell us they were home from their fabulous holiday . We bought them a trip on a Catamaran ‘swimming with turtles’ for his 50th birthday. He said it was amazing.

Today another day of not doing much, resting my eye and trying not to bend (it’s impossible). I must wash my hair though!

I hope you all have a ‘good’ day whatever it brings. 🌼

whywhywhy Sun 17-Aug-25 07:24:54

Good morning from a cloudy but bright midlands. Yesterday we picked lots of blackberries. Today, hopefully watching a brass band in the park while eating ice cream.
Hugs to all suffering. 🤗🤗

Good morning Mick and all GN's from a still ,dry, sunny but slightly cooler morning in North Yorkshire. I have had a rubbish night with very little sleep, so full of aches and pains and gritty eyes etc. I am also providing another murder mystery clues scene, as my flipping foot is bleeding again this morning. It is difficult when the cut is on the sole of your foot. I either try not to walk on that bit, resulting in painful legs, back awful and making it worse by not walking in a normal manner, or walk normally and open the cut again and leave a trail of bloodstains. also trying to wash it and keep it clean. Tried a plaster on yesterday, but it didnt work because of the constant movement and it was hard to put on as well . This morning it has taken me ages to even get up, struggling with everything. Still as they say round here "Take what you want - and pay for it!" That is what I am doing.

Yesterday got off quite early and had a reasonable drive up to Rosedale to the show. The weather was lovely, traffic not too bad and the moors had the heather turning purple and great views across. We were to the south of the big fire near Fylingdales, so didnt have a lot of smoke. They have had fire engines from all over trying to combat the fire for over 6 days. Because it is up on the moor and it is peat, they are able to put out the obvious fires but the peat is burning underground and you do not know where it will break out again. So it is a long time disaster, as birds and habitats are burnt and killed and the peat releases gases that it normally holds, and of course it will literally take probably a hundred years for that peat to refill that space. We already have no steam engines on the north york moors as the fire risk is so great and we are all doing our best to watch out for fires starting and making sure there is no glass or other things that can spark a fire. The trouble is of course that whilst the great majority of people out and about respect and follow the rules, there is always the selfish few who dont take care, leave litter and are stupid enough to take barbecues up on the moor or smoke. The morons who think it will be lovely to see the view from up on the moor, drive their car to the viewpoint and then proceed to smoke and throw cigarette buts out of the window and empty litter up there. Well we just must remain vigilant and I find my binoculars very useful to be able to look further afield for any signs of smoke or fire.

Anyway I got up to Rosedale to the show. Was able to park on the parking field in the disabled bays, but all the disabled ringside places had long gone. So that meant I sat and made myself a coffee whilst I collected my thoughts and worked out what I needed to take with me to the ringside. My chair is the most important as it is a foldup chair but with metal arms and legs. This does make it heavier to carry, but is my one way of being able to get up and down, as I can press on the arms and manoeuvre myself out of the chair. so with quite a bit of effort i managed to get myself complete with chair, bag, papers sarnies etc etc down to the ringside and settle there for the duration. They now use this bright orange netting stuff to surround the ringside, which is a bit of a pain for me, because when I am sitting I am not above the netting , so have to peer through it to watch the goings on. Anyway some marvellous classes of horses, from heavy horse to childs ponies , all sorts of classes, and much to enjoy.

I had of course my suncream and hat etc etc. Had made some coffee when I arrived in the carpark, and had of course brought my china mug down to the ringside. Kept looking across as the fresh coffee stall, in the hopes that the queue would get shorter at some point, as standing in a queue for a long time is very painful for me, but it never seemed to diminish. Was talking to a young woman with 2 children, one of whom , the little girl, was very excited by the horses and constantly asking her mum about things, which her mum didnt knew much about so of course I was providing answers for her.

One of the things children find quite amazing is when you tell them that the big shire type horses would have had the knights in armour on them and going into battle. As the armour was so heavy the dainty horses in the show classes would not have been able to carry them I get them to see how if the knight fell off he could not get back on, and we look round the fields to see where and how someone could get back up on a horse. It makes it more real to them , and you can talk on all the work polishing the armour and the saddles etc etc. Her mum seemed quite grateful to have a chance to set out their picnic with less interuptions and when I looked across at the coffee stall and saw it was just as bad, I had a bottle of water with me and reluctantly got that out. Her husband came across to ask what they wanted to drink and she asked if he could get me a drink, for which I was very grateful, and was very pleased to get a coffee at last. I think it amused them to see me of course, get out my china mug and transfer the coffee to that . (a hint of Hyacinth Bucket I think) So the day proceeded and we were very lucky that the weather stayed lovely and dry for everyone but a bit of a breeze and nowhere near as humid as the previous day.

Over the day I managed to go round all the tents and look at the tractors etc. These days of course huge great smart ones with cabs etc, but they had a variety of tractors on show and I recognised more the little old fergie that my great uncle and family had been happy to use, and it somehow had a bit of a character, but of course the new ones are so much safer. So I lingered on, rather putting off the inevitable effort of going back to the car. It was a slight hill to go back to the carpark and could only drag the chair with me and had to constantly stop to rest and ease my back. Was somewhat shattered when I finally made it back to the car, and was glad to take my time sorting things out, and then just sat in the car and listened to a little radio three concert, whilst lots of people set off. Then came back via Hutton le hole and Kirkbymoorside, and the traffic was really thinned out so an easy drive home. I had rather seized up by the time I got back and the plan to water the garden had to be abandoned and it was just a struggle to do anything. But worth it I thought, despite literally only getting a drink and something to eat, leaving the mess everywhere and then going to stretch out on the bed and so onto a horrible night. Never mind worth it all.

Today if I improve by this afternoon I have a garden to go and look at near Ripon, but that will depend on if I can manage to walk round today. So this morning I am just having to take it a bit at a time. Am going out to water my garden as soon as I have finished this before it gets hot, but cant do any weeding as I usually do as I go . Then I need to go through the stuff in the car, and make sure that my picnic box etc is all back in working order ready for mynext jaunt, . I shall of course have my lovely programmes to listen to on the radio whilst I creak about, so hope to improve a bit.

How I am missing my swimming. Still got to do without for 4 weeks I think it is. I had been wondering whether I could afford to have another swimming season ticket, with the cost of things going up everywhere, but this enforced lack of swimming, has shown me that it really is not a luxury in my case. It is the way I can have some exercise and when I am in this state helps me get some sleep too. so whatever else has to go the swimming pass is going to be top of the list once I can start again. So it will be a slow down day and some mundane doings.

Very glad to hear your are improving a bit Mike but do take it easy and see if for a little while some of your friends might be able to visit you for a change. Hope there is some good cycling for you to watch on the box today Pantglas glad you are having a good cruise and enjoying the trip.granMattie you had quite a day of it one way and another. Hope someone has come to help you but things back and that you can have a more restful day today.

Hope we can all have a peaceful and calm day today and a bit of a rest . I certainly think I need to have a quieter week next week. Enjoy your day, and may we have a good downpour in the night! (wishful thinking!)

Redcar Sun 17-Aug-25 07:38:15

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Blue skies and sunshine again, but it feels nice and cool out. A comfortable 24 degrees forecast for us today. Yesterday was grey and cool but the sun came out at about 6 o’clock so a warmer evening. I had my usual walk yesterday, washed the car and then carried on cutting back shrubs etc in the garden.
DGDs 2 &3 are playing cricket again this morning, DD2 and her OH will probably come over this afternoon. Not sure what DD1s plans are.
I’ll carry on working in the garden, as this involves actually getting among the shrubs I’ll need to cover my arms and legs to protect my fragile skin.
luluaugust, I hope your DS will soon be fully recovered from Covid and that your DGS will be able to eat more today and that his condition will improve quickly.
I hope your DH’s birthday party goes brilliantly today kitty and that you all enjoy yourselves.
Enjoy your cruise pantglas!

bellasnana and susan I hope you both feel better today, it’s horrible feeling ill at any time, but the heat seems to make it worse!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Sun 17-Aug-25 07:42:03

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and sunny. Pantglas your cruise sounds lovely.
Yesterday I met up with my Saturday pal, we had a lovely breakfast and a three hour blether. It was very pleasant. On the way out, we bumped into my neighbour who has already started buying Christmas presents. She goes to Lanzarote for two months soon and likes to be organised. Tesco delivered in the afternoon and I am gradually reclaiming my living room.
Today I will put some petrol in the car, courtesy of Dsil who came round with cash yesterday. Apart from that, I'll continue to empty the dining room of books. So a very quiet day ahead. Quiche and salad for dinner. Have a good day all

brook2704 Sun 17-Aug-25 07:46:58

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve a misty start to the day, once that clears its forecast to be another warm sunny day
Enjoy the scenery, fjords and Scandinavian lifestyle Pantglas it sounds really lovely
Have a lovely day celebrating Kitty, enjoy every minute 🥂
I’m hoping to get outside in the garden later, there’s lots of cutting back, pruning and tidying to do. Yesterday’s quiet day didn’t really happen as DD2 and DGS came round in the afternoon, we all enjoyed sitting outside for a while and it was lovely to see them
So nice that you can treat yourself to things you’ll enjoy karma good for you
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

ginny Sun 17-Aug-25 07:56:18

A quick Good Morning from a blue skies N.Bucks.
Haven’t yet read through as I am all behind and have friends coming for lunch.

Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way.

Liberty Sun 17-Aug-25 08:07:41

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where the weather forecast was for cloud all day.

We noticed on our dog walk yesterday that one of the loveliest trees,a horse chestnut,in the churchyard adjoining our garden,is suffering in the heat. Already most of the leaves are brown and crispy even before the chestnuts have ripened and dropped. We just hope that next spring will show its recovery.

Gingster I got my hairdresser to wash my hair using the back facing basins after my cataract ops 10 years ago. Having checked with the surgeon doing them, T was very happy to oblige.

A little light tidy up in the garden followed by a restful day reading and DH will cook this evening so a pleasant day ahead. Hope others can enjoy the same.

GrannySomerset Sun 17-Aug-25 08:08:23

Yet another hot day beckons so church this morning and then emptying the kitchen dresser ready for Tom to start painting it tomorrow. Not quite sure where the considerable contents are going - in laundry baskets in the garden room I think - but everything will need to be washed before eventually being put back so a fun time ahead.
