Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but its dry here in Brackley at the moment.
My plans for the day , will all depend on a meal delivery from Wiltshire Farms as to doing things , times vary.
My Health is OK , since Monday I have not taken any Lopermide capsules which seems to have helped .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a still dark, cool Torbay.

A day at home will do you no harm, Mick, given recent health events.

Yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised by the kindness of a neighbour who delivered a freshly made shepherd's pie to me! She has done this on occasions before and the meals are always tasty.

All six of the Props team were in the theatre yesterday which is rare but we were still unable to find a date to suit us all to go out for lunch. Various other volunteer commitments or family events were the problem.

A day at home on domestic tasks awaits. ☹️

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from Bristol. The sun hasn’t risen yet, but the sky is clear.
I had a busy day yesterday. I did the laundry, hung it out, folded and put away. It dries so quickly at the moment.
The marrow chutney produced a disappointing 16 pots, not much for all that work. The strip quilt is going well, I should have finished it by the weekend.
My lovely pc man called and helped me with the transfer of photos from iPad/phone to the pc. I refuse to pay for the “cloud”, which is a deceptive name for a giant landbased computer. He also did the annual MOT, tidying up and cleaning my computer.
Today, Iris is taking part in her national RDA riding event. I’m not sure where it takes place but she seemed excited by it.
Someone from Anchor is coming to look at my malfunctioning night storage heater. At last!
Otherwise, I’m just pottering about, unable to host my usual Wednesday FAB cafe because I have no idea at what time they’re coming.
Thinking of those with mountains to climb, especially FGTs and our very own MD.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩💐

👋 from Norway 🇳🇴 where I’m on the balcony bundled up in the softest robe enjoying my morning reviver as we sail towards Stavanger our last stop before we head back to Dover.

Stunning scenery and weather has been perfect for sightseeing- - what a clean and tidy country this is, thoroughly recommend a visit 🤗

However all this talk of chutney (yes, you GrandMattie and GrannyGravy) has made yearn for my little kitchen at PGTowers 👩🏻‍🍳 and I shall have to stir something this weekend…possibly some blackberry jam if the hedgerows haven’t been stripped!

Hope all in the sick bay are on the mend (trips out notwithstanding- you know who you are 😉 Mrs TKMaxx and Mick). 💐 some good news for those awaiting results would also be welcome 🙏

A very early.good morning from a damp and overcast Northampton. Up early as I am off on a trip today to the Houses of Parliament. It is with the Patient Participation Group at our local surgery; our MP will meet us and give us a tour. Haven't been since I was a.junior school child on a school trip! Being picked up at 7.30 so I must get my skates on.

Lovely weather yesterday for the bedding to dry on the line, and also just right for our well-being walk; I did almost 10,000/steps and walked 4 miles. Called in at the shops on the way home for snacks and a drink for the journey. Made the bed up again when I got home.

Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Cheshire where the sun is just appearing. So different from the recent sunny dawns. Been doing my crochet for over an hour, I wish I could sleep a little longer but never mind, I'm well and that's the main thing.

Today I'm meeting DD and DGS for lunch which will inevitably involve shopping as there are some lovely independent shops in that part of town. I feel a treat coming on.

The sick bay is rather full at the moment so I hope some are soon home, and the poorly people at home are taking things easy. Best wishes to all with worries, flowers

Morning Mick, morning All. The sky looks clear over our corner of Somerset.

Chores completed yesterday we’re off for coffee with friends this morning. Back for lunch before a trip to the tip. Not and exciting afternoon but good enough, I enjoy clearing a space.

Go gently everyone. Have the best day you can.

RosesandLilac Wed 20-Aug-25 06:20:46

Good morning, it’s cloudy here in south Glos, I am enjoying the cooler weather, it feels very autumnal here.
Yesterday evening I went to a gathering of our village wildlife and biodiversity group, a first for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were 17 people there, few of whom I knew.
I have volunteered to help with grant applications (I have previous experience) and I’m going to help with the gardening club at the village school! Looking forward to this, something new.
Today tiddler has her 6 month vet check under the surgery’s pet scheme but nothing else planned. I bathed her yesterday so at least she’s sparkling clean at the moment!
Best wishes to all 🌹

We had a long day yesterday with an early start, so Bore Da for yesterday and today.
We went to see an aunt who is in a care home , a two hour trip. She is doing so well now that she is cared for, and she is where she is as she has spent all her life in that area and her friends are there.
So we got back late.
Today, heron Wales look to be fine
Today we recover, but I think I shall have a cooking day. Shepherd’s pies, meat patties and a fish pie. All to go in the freezer.
Then I must watch Sewing Bee , which I missed yesterday.
Hope everyone is feeling good, or indeed better. Enjoy a quiet day.

Good morning from an overcast cooler 11deg. in Glasgow.

Success yesterday re my bank card, a worn chip was the problem and a new card is ordered. After four visits, the young woman I spoke to yesterday was the only one who knew what she was doing. Can’t get the staff these days!
Meds review was a pass as my BP has settled down to healthier readings. After two positives, I bought a take away espresso machiato and a jumper.
A first and a delightful surprise, GD2, 16yr has invited me out to lunch on Saturday, she is back to school today and DD1 will pop in for coffee after school drop off. An at home day today, I may get on with some outdoor chores.

Have the best day possible all.

Grandmabatty Wed 20-Aug-25 06:38:20

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and cloudy. Yesterday was very much cooler and I, for one, welcomed it. The boys had a good day yesterday. Dgs1 received a certificate for his writing and dgs2 got a sticker for being good at something (his words). He had a fabulous day. I pottered about during the day. My new bank card arrived but I can't use it til my new pin number arrives. I'm hoping it isn't as difficult as Kalu has found!
Today I will empty the kitchen ready for the painter. He's planning to do the kitchen and the bedroom today. This afternoon I'm working in the school library with the primary 7 classes. Their teachers saw me in the playground yesterday when I was picking up the boys to confirm I would be there. Then a quiet evening. I'll sleep in the boys room tonight to escape the paint smell, although it isn't bad. Possibly beef olives for dinner. Have a good day all.

Good morning from cloudy s somerset

The allotment did not require much work yesterday so I was home b 9.30. Weeds don't stand a chance when I walk around with my hori hori and kneeling mat and I only needed 4 cans of water from the trough

I did not do half of what I had gently planned for yesterday, this pig that I am knitting took most of my time. Teeny tiny tight stitches with 4" size 2 dpns and I need to concentrate the whole time. I will be glad when it is finished and I have dressed it, and then I can start the red squirrel for my youngest brother, who is very active with preservation of that species. I will need a long break from that type of knitting but I want to empty that project bag. They are challenging knits

I have not tidied my needles so that job is waiting for me but I did thoroughly clean my de-humidifier which had developed an odour in the water tank.

No real plans today, oh yes ok, more pig knitting and stuffing. I hope I get down to the legs soon.

Have a good day

Good morning all from a damp and misty North Leicestershire.

Early start today - DH off to the gym, the cleaner here at 9 and I am driving over the forest to collect a different set of grandchildren who are here for a couple of days.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Wed 20-Aug-25 07:12:07

Good morning everyone from a cloudy mid Essex. It looks a bit damp outside in places, so we may have had some drizzle. There were some sunny spells yesterday, and then it was very warm, but once the sun went it seemed cool. Had my usual walk in the morning, also did an extra walk to the pharmacy for my meds. Visited my dementia friend in the afternoon, she was asleep but didn’t look very peaceful.
Nothing planned for today, I’ll have a walk, then potter in the house and garden. I’m trying to dispose of some of my DH’s camera stuff, the camera shop in town has closed but operates online. I need to list the equipment and submit the list to the company who will tell me whether they can take it or not. Maybe I’ll start that today.
pantglas lovely photo, Norway is a beautiful country but has always been expensive! I had a holiday in Stavanger with some friends many years ago.
Best wishes to all those feeling poorly or awaiting test results and hoping for good news for you.
Have a good day everyone.

Greyduster Wed 20-Aug-25 07:15:05

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It looks like we’ve had rain in the night, which will be very welcome. It’s cooler too this morning. Yesterday I did very little except try and recoup my energies after the health issues that began the week. I slept reasonably well last night. I’ll try and get to the gym later, before going to writers group this afternoon.
Have the best day you can, folks.

luluaugust Wed 20-Aug-25 07:16:42

Good morning from a grey W Kent. A successful clearing out day yesterday helped by DD2 and GC. I have certainly shifted some China, every time I resisted something going DD asked when I last used it or even remembered it so a large pile of bags in the hall for the charity shop.
I heard yesterday evening that DGS4 has been discharged from hospital and is home to stay with mum and dad to recover, relief all round
Today I have my U3A art group this morning and a quiet afternoon
Very best wishes to all

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Aug-25 07:20:30

Good morning from a mild but overcast S E Essex.

I survived the school uniform/shoe/trainer shop with DD and her boys, we headed to M & S for lunch (the boys choice).

Today DD has an appointment, so I shall take the boys to the indoor trampoline park, I know from previous visits how noisy it will be, but the 10yr old is too old for soft play unless we go to one of the enormous ones round here, and I like to vary noir activities.

DH is out this evening, so I shall be returning to my comfort meal of a fish finger sandwich (granary bread) and a big bowl of salad.

Thinking of the poorly and troubled folk.

Have a good day 🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone! Good to hear you're having a quieter day, Mick. The slower you take things, the better you'll recover.

Madeleine, we've not been to Harlow Carr but your description sounds wonderful.
Bridgewater is our local RHS and we go quite often to track the changes across the seasons. It's a lovely oasis just off the M60.
Today is our 37th wedding anniversary. Apparently that's alabaster. We must be saints to put up with each other! No plans as DH is working, but we'll be onto day 3 of the decorators.
Wishing everyone a good day and get well wishes to those who are having health troubles. 🌻

GrannyGravy13 Wed 20-Aug-25 07:22:44

pantglas so pleased you enjoyed your cruise, I loved Norway, if I recall there is a museum dedicated to petroleum in Stavanger, it was far more interesting than it sounds.

Bellasnana Wed 20-Aug-25 07:28:24

Good morning from Malta where another sunny day with 36°C high awaits us.

Managed to get the last of my jobs done yesterday, if only it stayed sparkling clean for longer!

Walked up to the doctors at 6pm, still quite hot at that time but I love it. The village is looking lovely with decorations for the upcoming festa and I was glad to be out of the house after 3 days indoors.

This morning I need to drop something off at the charity shop and then go grocery shopping, a chore I do not enjoy but needs must.

So glad your cruise has been so enjoyable Pantglas. Safe travels back to PG Towers. ⛴️

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

Gingster Wed 20-Aug-25 07:29:28

Good morning and it’s pleasantly cool.

Off soon for DH’s doctors appointment and blood tests. I’ll be glad that things are moving and finding out what’s wrong with him.

Later, if all goes well, I’m meeting a friend for coffee and another for lunch.

Take care 🌼

brook2704 Wed 20-Aug-25 07:37:36

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve another cloudy start to the day, I’m hoping the sun comes out later
A good day yesterday Kalu well done!
I’m going to the gym again this morning for a couple of dance classes, so enjoyable and good fun. There’s time in between for coffee and a chat with the ladies so looking forward to that too. A browse around the shops in town later and then the bus home
Enjoy your trip today BlueSapphire sounds interesting
Lovely photo Pantglas enjoy the last few days of your cruise
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from another rather murky day in Wiltshire but still no rain. Autumn feels its approaching now.

GD3 and GS2 yesterday. In the morning we took them to Lacock for the outside Summer of Fun but it was a bit naff compared to last year. They enjoyed the badminton net with new rackets but the shuttlecocks were really old and falling apart. They then insisted on the little net we have being put up in the garden. Our poor neighbours within earshot of the loudest children ever. I’m glad we don’t live next door to them. We then made cupcakes which was incredibly hard work with them squabbling non stop. Just one more week to go……

Ocado delivery this morning. Today is DS’s 48th birthday - we will see him and the rest of the family for GD3’s 7th birthday on Saturday. I will make lobster thermidor later as its our 43rd wedding anniversary also today.

I’m glad your DGS4 is improving and at home luluaugust. We went to Norway in February 10 years ago, also in perfect weather (apart from landing in a whiteout at Trömso airport) and then cruised for 6 days over the top of Norway as far as Kirkenes almost on the Russian border. It was breathtakingly beautiful.

Have a good day all.

Good morning from a brightening Isle of Man. Really enjoyed yesterday, nice temperature and I enjoyed coffee and homemade shortbread with the guard on the steam train in his carriage when it came into the station. I met him in a box at the Albert Hall last December at a carol concert when he told me he worked on the steam train here. Such a coincidence, as steam trains are one of my passions. He looked very smart in his uniform.

Then spent the afternoon reading on the beach and writing postcards, an old fashioned habit I enjoy and I think the recipients do too!
Nice to be surrounded by young families. One mother next to me dominating the group of young mothers with the pros and cons of living abroad, a rather one sided conversation.

In the evening I luxuriated in a bath, quite a novelty, as I just jump in and out of the shower at home. Well jump is rather an exaggeration😁 I’ve been a registered this hotel over the years with late DH and family, but looked up a local guesthouse with good reviews and much cheaper, so may try that when and if I return, god willing 🤞

I’m off after a full Manx brekkie to do the island from top to toe by steam train, bus and electric railway. My back won’t like it, but it has to be done. I return home tomorrow so it’s a short trip.
Good to have a quiet day Mick and thoughts to all,
Pic of nearby view.

hollysteers Wed 20-Aug-25 07:47:22

Regular at the hotel!🙄
