Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
My usual bus trip to Bicester ,shop and see those I know.
An afternoon watching cycling on TV ,and relaxing.
Health OK
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dry Bristol. The light is just starting to show in the east.
I had another rotten night. Kit seems unfair when, after a couple of reasonable night and I think I’ve racked this sleep thing, another disturbed night starts the rotten cycle all over again.
I had a reasonably successful shop for fabrics, etc., yesterday and have started the patchwork. My problem is the size of blocks which don’t fit a particular measurement.
Today, I’m back at my FAB cafe and shall chat to people. I’m finding this summer especially hard regarding human contact. It has been very slight and, unusually, I have felt rather lonely.
Many of you are in my heart and prayers but especially FGT and himself, and MD.
Carpe diem 🌺🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️

Good morning, dry and dark out there like you Mick, its like living abroad in the uk this summer.
Everything hurting today so, will not be doing much, a bit of shopping and ring an old friend for a catch up later.

Good morning from s somerset, rain later

I was woken too early, something fell onto my hall/landing floor, sounded like a light chain, so I had to get up to look, even looked in my loft in case any vent pipe had fallen. Could not see anything. Went back to bed and later I stretched, knotted my left calf and got cramp. I am going to increase my magnesium intake today

Wondering about the amount of raw spinach I eat everyday, so I changed my organic order earlier, I think I am eating a bit too too much oxalate and that can cause muscle cramp. I will reduce the spinach by half each day, have to do that reduction gradually

I have a new neighbour. moving in day for her yesterday, to a new build, her family don`t live in the area, same for me. She seems lovely, a bit younger than me. I have been without a constant immediate neighbour for 6 years, my other two were always away. I was able to reassure her son that I always felt safe in this area and she will be safe too. Softly softly now, while we get to know each other

I thought it was time to cut my butternuts, so now they are curing for a couple of weeks. These were from 2 seeds and grew atop a raised bed in my garden. Well behaved plants, unlike the `thugs` on my allotment. I am not complaining about those, it will take several car journeys to get those squash back home next month

Knitted a lot yesterday and enjoying it with the thin needles, my fingers are not at all sore so the bamboo does work

I need to do some exercise today, it has to be a cycle ride but I need to get back before it rains. I will be out as soon as it is light enough

Have a good day

Good morning Mick, and everyone up so early this morning.
We are due lots of rain today and had several very short but heavy ones yesterday.
I must try and repot an ancient and extremely prickly cactus today as it is growing at a strange angle.

NannyJan53 Wed 27-Aug-25 05:54:15

Good morning from a still dark but warm Black Country.

Awake unusually early for me. A busy day yesterday, after seeing Evita the night before. It was a very alternative version, but very good. Then yesterday after breakfast at the hotel we had a couple of hours to wander around. The Hotel was only a 20 minute walk away from the Houses of Parliament.

Caught the train at 2pm, where by then it was raining! We were home by 5.00pm. Both journeys to and from London, not once were our tickets checked! I even carried the card with me to prove I was entitled to the 33% discount. As I wear hearing aids, I can claim the disabled one, which is only £20 for the year.

Today I am meeting a friend at 2pm for a late lunch. Only met her once this year, as one or the other of us was busy or away. Only live 15 minutes drive away from each other.

Wishing you all the best day possible, with special thoughts of FGT's

Susan56 Wed 27-Aug-25 05:58:39

Good morning from Shropshire.Sunshine and showers forecast yesterday.

I managed half my balance and stretch class yesterday which I was a bit disappointed with but as DH and the class instructor said later was a good achievement for my first outing since my illness.

This morning I have to collect a couple of parcels from the Royal Mail depot.DD and family are coming for lunch and to collect their little dog.It has been lovely having her, its home from home for her here.

Thinking of FGT’s and himself🙏🏻

Hoping Marydoll and Blossoming are feeling better today and wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Good morning from Malta where a sunny day is dawning with a high of 37°C expected.

I got up at 6am to make tea and feed little dog Bertie. He is such good company I shall miss him when he goes back to DC.

The boys were absolute angels yesterday. I took them up to the little local play park early whilst it was still cool enough. We were the only ones there but were joined later by two or three other little ones.

DGS2 loves babies and takes it upon himself to follow them around offering advice. ‘Don’t touch the floor, it’s dirty!’ Etc.

After I’d taken them to nursery in the afternoon I came home and went to bed for an hour having been up half the night watching tennis!

They will be dropped off by son in law soon so I must get in the shower.

grandMattie I’m sorry you aren’t sleeping well. I go through phases of insomnia from time to time and it is draining. Also sorry you’ve felt lonely. Sometimes we can be surrounded by people and feel like that. Sending a big hug.🤗

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

Kalu Wed 27-Aug-25 06:02:31

Good morning all. A mixture of sun and rain for Glasgow today. Shorter days are more noticeable with the need to put lamps on earlier.

Phone calls and some housework this morning and a shopping trip with my cousin this afternoon, mainly M&S, both of us looking for jeans and some food shopping, of course, an obligatory coffee at some point. Perfectly timed to do so as heavy rain is due in the afternoon, we will park in the covered car park.

Best wishes to all for a good day and a better one with thoughts for those with illness and worrying times.

Beechnut Wed 27-Aug-25 06:11:55

Good morning everyone.

Special thoughtful wishes to you today fgt on your birthday💐xx

RosesandLilac Wed 27-Aug-25 06:12:26

Good morning from south Glos, a dull start to the day here with rain and thunderstorms forecast from late morning, we’ll see…… living on a hillside the weather frequently splits and goes around us but heaven knows we need it.
I got stung by a wasp on my leg yesterday, the first one for probably 30 years! I was so surprised 😮
I have to go into town today as my phone camera has failed, exasperating. I haven’t been in for probably 4 months, I rarely go anywhere further than the village nowadays.
I will do a bit of shopping while I’m there, I need some fresh vegetables and salad bits.
I will do some painting later, I have signed up to a free 10 day online class, it’s largely abstract which I’ve never done before so let’s see how it goes!
Sending best wishes and thinking of those who are struggling 🌹

Ashcombe Wed 27-Aug-25 06:19:50

Good morning from a fine Torbay following overnight rain.

My own bed is so welcome after sleeping in two different ones whilst away! It must depend on the particular rail company, NannyJan53 as my rail pass is always checked. Yesterday, I was with Avanti (Crewe to Stafford) then Cross Country (Stafford to Torquay ) and all tickets were checked throughout. I was relieved that my Cross Country train was running despite strikes by some of their staff on Saturday and Monday.

This was my first solo trip by train for two and a half years and it has reassured me that I can manage, with the support of Passenger Assistance. This worked perfectly at every stage and I met some interesting members of staff as a result! Thoroughly recommend this service for anyone who struggles; I find lifting my case on and off the train a problem, especially where the gap is big.

Thinking of those facing difficulties of any kind and hope today brings some light into your lives. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a still , rather grey morning in North Yorkshire. Still to early to tell if it is going to be sunny or not, no sign of any sunshine yet. Quite a bit of birdsong though and several doves being the loudest.

I was meant to be carrying on with yesterdays work, but am going to do things backwards, in that am struggling to move about and bend etc., so am going to go this morning to visit a friend. I can always drive and actually feel more comfortable in the car than walking about when I am in pain.So swapping round and going there this morning, then coming back to carry on the sorting out of the dresser. I have rung the people and agreed to give them the dresser, but need to fix a date for them to come. That has to fit in with their schedule, but I need to be sure that not only have I emptied it all , but that all the things in the hall etc are cleared for the job of getting it out. Was quite proud of the amount of stuff that I sorted out yesterday, and got rid of as much paperwork and so forth as possible, but it is quite concentrated sort of work, and I am trying to put things away in the appropriate place, asit would be easy to just stuff things in bags, but that will be making more work for myself in the long run. Still annoyingly cannot find the key for the yellow peril, so cant take my washing to the line. No chance in carrying it down there myself, so I am just going to have to ignore that for now and perhaps come to it with fresh eyes when I get back. I only have the one key that came with the buggy, and although I tried as soon as I got it to get a spare key cut, they said that they couldnt do one and it woul have to be contactin the manufactuers so not got round to that.

Anyway will come back hopefully able to bend a bit more and then can do a bit of moving furniture and looking under things. Tonight I am going to play whist as usual, and we are getting more popular so need to go a bit earlier to be sure of a parking place not too far from the door. I have tried to keep moving round, but think tonight I shall have to stay at one table, because not only am I in too much pain to be getting up an d down each hand, but am so slow right now I would hold up the whole game getting up and down. There are two other people who stay at one table and we can sort it out but was trying not to join them yet. We;; the sky is clearing a bit but still very grey and still so dont think we are going to get a lot of sunshine this morning. It is market day, so I will go another way than the high street and it should be a pleasant drive there.

good to see you getting back to normal Mick, hope you get to see some friends.GrandMattie, Hope you can sort out your new sewing plan and enjoy using colours that you like this time. Sorry to hear you have been feeling lonely and hope that you get to chat to people you know and like at the cafe. You never know how things are going to go do you? You can spend two days alone at home in roughly the same physical situation, yet one day you are perfectly happy doing your own thing wtth no thoughts of being alone, yet the next daycan make you feel really alone and wish you had some company. Karmalady you have been very busy by the looks of things. So much to do gathering in harvests at this time of year, but very satisfying when you see all the things stacking up for the winter. Take it steady today. for everyone struggling with many and varied aches and pains hope they all feel a bit better as the day goes on.

Wishing you all a productive and peaceful day

NannyJan53 Wed 27-Aug-25 06:33:32

Ashcombe tickets have never been checked on trips to London. They were checked once on a trip to Buxton though about 3 years ago.

Good morning Mick, and everyone up so early this morning.
We are due lots of rain today and had several very short but heavy ones yesterday.
I must try and repot an ancient and extremely prickly cactus today as it is growing at a strange angle.

Good morning, all. The problem with cactus is that the root system doesn't support the upper part. I have a tall cactus on my kitchen windowsill which is growing horizontally and looks rather obscene. I'm going to cut it up and use it outside to hopefully deter slugs.

cornergran Wed 27-Aug-25 06:45:30

Morning Mick, morning All. Looks cloudy, our corner of Somerset is promised rain for much of the day. Still very warm.

A sleepless night here too grandmattie, frustrating isn’t it? The hairdresser was rather over enthusiastic yesterday, it will grow - if slowly! A long call from our goddaughter brought more concerning news of her Mum and unexpectedly filled a couple of hours. . We tried re-arranging the furniture in the conservatory and in the way of these things put it all back where it was. I’m still thinking though, there may yet be another attempt.

A bit uncertain about today as the friend I was due to meet has had an up and down health week. She’ll let mr know in about an hour if today is a good one, if so I’ll be off for most of the day, if not I’ll be under Mr C’s feet.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning, I’m new to all this but want to get involved.
Living in Turkey the last 20 years or so.

Intensely hot here so having a few friends over for lunch and social chat .

Good morning from a warm sunny S E Essex, we have rain forecast.

The builders have covered the hall downstairs and upstairs with, the banisters are all enveloped in industrial polythene, and they have started in one of the bedrooms. Removed all of the plaster, it is so dusty. I was wheezing yesterday, something they are using is exasperating my asthma.

Thinking of our poorly morning friends 🌸

Welcome Nannyangel whereabouts in Turkey are you?

FGT2 😘

luluaugust Wed 27-Aug-25 07:04:17

Good morning from a sunny W Kent
Welcome Nannyangel
A busy day yesterday with DGS3 who helped DH photograph cameras which he hopes to sell. I could hear lots of talk about the cameras, it was lovely to hear them chatting. DDIL came to collect GS and whilst chatting heard from her mum that she had Covid.
Today I have a friend I haven’t seen for a while popping by, we have known one another for years but lately she has become obsessed with the state of the country so not sure how things will go.
Best wishes and thinking of fgt and MD and all struggling along

Redcar Wed 27-Aug-25 07:20:12

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny at the moment, showers forecast, fingers crossed we get some today! Yesterday there were a few spots of rain on one side of my garden, but nothing on the other side -very odd. Visited my friend with dementia yesterday afternoon, she was asleep most of the time but I had a pleasant chat with her DH.

A funeral to go to this afternoon, the middle aged son of some friends, who are in their eighties and have cared for their son for a number of years.

Welcome nannyangel.

grannygravy I hope your asthma isn’t too problematic today.

Thinking of all those with mountains to climb.
Have the best day possible everyone!

karmalady Wed 27-Aug-25 07:26:06

oh bother!!! the rain has been moved forward. No cycling for me today

Grannygravy, I feel for you, it will be worth it

Grandmabatty Wed 27-Aug-25 07:29:30

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and sunny in parts. GrandMattie feeling lonely is rotten. I'm generally happy with my own company, but occasionally I feel very alone, so I can sympathise. FGT birthday greetings to you.
Yesterday the boys had a good day. Dgs2 is settling back well into nursery and his teacher is really pleased with him. Dgs1 played football in the rain and got absolutely soaked. His school shirt was stuffed into his bag. I pottered about the house while they were at school and hung another couple of paintings.i arranged delivery of my new rug for Friday too. My feet were really painful in the evening and during the night and I needed painkillers. Hopefully it's receded and today will be easier.
Today I have an early haircut which will coincide with rush hour traffic, so I'll leave a little earlier. Then I'm going to do a couple of hours in the school library. After that, I will hang some more paintings and generally potter. I need to get back into my very weedy garden and tidy it up. Have a good day all

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 27-Aug-25 07:30:04

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Weather? No idea!

OH spent yesterday afternoon extracting honey. He will do the rest today.

I will do some admin today before going to the hairdresser. My appointment isn’t until 5 pm. I am having my roots done and a trim. I’m still not quite ready to embrace the grey!

It is my book group tomorrow and I have read quite a lot over the last month. I will write up the reviews.

Did someone say it was FGT2’s birthday? If so, happy birthday 🌹

Have a good day everyone .

Grandmabatty Wed 27-Aug-25 07:30:31

NannyAngel welcome to Mick's place.

Jaxjacky Wed 27-Aug-25 07:37:11

Morning from a damp S Hants, we’ve had some rain, showers expected later.
Yesterday downstairs had a thorough clean through and I’ve just done the upstairs bathrooms.
Book club today, I haven’t finished the book though, found it rather hard going and life is too short.
I’m going to optimistically sow carrot seed today, nothing ventured.
