Another light hearted thread to follow on from cushions.

Our coffee table is a huge old thing with two massive drawers, one is full of board games and photo albums the other is……..take a guess!

No prizes for the winner but a big shout out!

I would love to see or hear about your coffee tables.

Ooops! A photo may help.

Does it always look so tidy Sago?😄 ours is small but heaped with books, discarded coffee mugs , an ashtray with half of one of DP’s cigars in it, tv control, mobiles, reading glasses, a scrunched up KitKat wrapper, two crossword books and a selection of pens.

I am a tidy person or perhaps a control freak😱.

I’m with you there Sago!

Mine has 4 drawers and an undershelf for all the detritus gathering throughout the day which gets tidied up before bed. I couldn’t enjoy my morning tea sitting before a messy coffee table!

This was next to nothing on eBay. The top is a bit scratched now but I love the colours.

Mine has nothing on it whatsoever - the joys of living with a Labrador who has a tail like a rope which would swipe anything off it! grin

Clear on top but cluttered underneath.

Usedtobeblonde Wed 03-Sept-25 10:47:49

I note that while I have “wooden effect” floors in my hall, kitchen and snug, I still have carpet in my lounge.
Very unfashionable these days and hard to keep clean.
Too late to change now though.

We don’t have a central one any more, just side tables. This was bought by my father sometime during WW2 when his RN ship stopped in India or Burma. After the DPs died nobody else wanted it.
The nut-shaped thing is a nutcracker, but not a very good one!
I don’t know why the carpet has come out grey - it’s actually a lightish green.

Ours is travertine but I keep banging my knees on the blessed thing, so getting shut. Bought a massive

Finger slipped 🙄
Bought a massive storage stool from a charity shop for £15 - John Lewis material from eBay to match our new sofa when that comes.

OH calls this the log! It has 12 small drawers on the far side and is also a chest.

Primrose53 Wed 03-Sept-25 12:02:02

I would have to dust our coffee table first!

No need to report really as the USA is a long way to go for a sandwich, however good it is😉

merlotgran Wed 03-Sept-25 14:29:36

My sitting room is small but cosy so I try not to clutter up the coffee table too much but as I’m always browsing through garden and cook books it doesn’t always work.

merlotgran Wed 03-Sept-25 14:30:41

Pic didn’t upload.

Jaxjacky Wed 03-Sept-25 14:44:45

This is ours, not really used as a coffee table, I need to get some flowers for it, hints haven’t worked! The piece of glasswork has a tea light behind it.

Spinnaker Wed 03-Sept-25 14:47:07

Here's mine which is currently being used as a stand for my wedding anniversary flowers from DH on Monday. As I also omitted to put my cushions on the other thread I've included them in this pic too 😁

Mine is a retired 1960's circular G-plan dining table with the legs cut down to coffee-table height. I stained the top and leaves red. It also has two concealed leaves which expand it to make a big oval table when I need extra space for jigsaws, games, more cakes, making a mess etc.

Underneath there's enough space for a collection of pouffe/cushions to accommodate grandchildren. It's also the dog's bomb shelter for thunderstorms and November 5th.

Oo, love it!

Ours has nothing on it as I have just removed my birthday cards and am about to dust it!
We bought it with the money DH was given for 25 year’s service with the local education authority. Therefore it must be about 35 years old.

My coffee tables (2) in the lounge are distressed walnut and had them years and the GC have certainly distressed them further!! I don’t keep much on the top of mine as when the GC arrive they like to play a board game on it. I have recently declutterred all the magazines on the shelf under the big one as well!
