Good Morning Everyone,
A dark but dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Up to my usual routine of housework , followed by a bus trip to Bicester to shop and chat to those I know.
Have lunch and relax this afternoon.
My Health is OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a calm and dry Torbay with a sunny day forecast.

Yesterday after I’d posted, we had a thunderstorm which gave me a headache. Combined with toothache that arose from the hygienist's ministrations, it led me to hibernate and miss church. I think I needed a slow morning after a week of early starts!

Move It or Lose It class today whilst my cleaner works her magic!

I hope today is the start of a better week for those in need. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Good morning Mick and all who follow. Yesterday was a lovely day. I had lunch at dds and the boys were really good. Then met a friend in the afternoon and we blethered for three hours before eventually going home. She is having a tough time with her boss (who used to be mine) so I could sympathise with her. He is the laziest, most incompetent person I have ever had the misfortune to work with.
Today I have the boys all day because it's the local September long weekend. Soft play this morning I think then home to play with cars and watch some tv. I made cottage pie yesterday which will do for dinner tonight too, so I'm sorted. Have a good day all

I hope you feel better today Ashcombe

Good morning Mick from a damp north Wales where I’ve just caught up with the cycling🚴🏻‍♂️ and Geraint Thomas tearful last race - wot a man!

Hope the travellers have a lovely time, Glammagran in Crete and LLFL in Devon to name but two, there may be others Ive missed but that’s the problem with dipping in and out…🤦‍♀️. I try and catch up with what folks are going through, good and not so!

How marvellous Blue Sapphire to have 🦊 visiting your garden, is that a first? A friend had a badger move in to her lush grounds and it was the devil’s work moving him on 🤬

I saw the moon last night briefly but it wasn’t red so didn’t bother with a photo - my talents with a camera are lacking somewhat…😂

Have a good day, those who can and hugs to those in need x

grandMattie Mon 08-Sept-25 05:49:56

Good morning from Bristol.
Did anyone see the total lunar eclipse? You south easterners would probably have had a glimpse.
After a lovely dry (very) early morning, by 0830, the heavens opened and I decided not to go to church, as I would be sodden before I’d gone a few yards. (I don’t have a car). Then one of my neighbours asked if I wanted a lift from his daughter. Yes, please! It carried on raining until after 11. Lovely sun then another squall. Mercifully, I didn’t get a headache like poor Ash. Attendance was very low.
The afternoon was spent sewing. I have finished my latest quilt in a record 12 days.
Today, I’m off to Tesco. I think I’ll go to town this afternoon for various bits and pieces, including or fabric for a baby’s quilt, in pastel blues purples and greens. A weird selection of colours IMO.
batty, I suspect your ex-manager trained at the same college as our area estate manager. He’s not nicknamed Teflon for nothing…
May your mountains be reduced to molehills, hugs to fgt, md and everyone else needing one.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩

Mattie he can talk the talk as we discovered when we were landed with him, but he relied on staff to do his job for him and all of those(including me) have gone. I am so glad I retired!

Greyduster Mon 08-Sept-25 05:57:14

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire and I have been awake since three😩 and I’ve just had a horrendous sneezing fit. Yesterday I did very little except road test my legs after the run in with the muscle bound dog, and paint some sample swatches, two out of the three are no good so it’s back to the drawing board!
DD and the menfolk came round to show me their new car which is a bit too space age for my liking and I found it very difficult to get in and out of, but they love it, which is all that matters. Don’t know where they are going to hang their bikes though! Why do I wake up thinking about the most ridiculous things?
Today I shall go to the gym and then let the day unfold as it will.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Grandmabatty

I hope you feel better today Ashcombe

Much better, thanks, Grandmabatty and ready to face the week!
I sympathise regarding the incompetent, lazy boss! Exasperation with the one in my final position caused me to resign and retire prematurely.

Good morning from Shropshire. After yesterdays torrential rain a mainly dry day is forecast.

I have the nurse calling this morning and a friend coming over this afternoon.DH hopes to trim the hedges.I have had a difficult 24 hours getting very anxious about my niece’s funeral on Thursday.i Hope talking to my friend will put my mind at rest.

Thinking of all with mountains to climb.

Wishing everyone a good day🦩🌻

karmalady Mon 08-Sept-25 06:39:15

Good morning from sodden s somerset

Torrential yesterday, absolutely torrential and when it stopped I went to get something from the garage only to see my very full laundry basket from saturday standing on the patio, all washing was dry and neatly folded but no more, it was soaked, absolutely soaked and my peg bag was full of water. That put a damper on the afternoon

I did scurry around yesterday to get 2 free hours of electricity, I won`t be doing that again, it was too shattering for a sunday.

I would love to be out today but it will have to be a walk, the lanes will be very muddy and it will have to be this morning, more rain is coming this afternoon

I did cut and assemble some more bags, very useful slim, cross-body bags. I will be making lovely red bags next with a bit of sparkle, they are presents. I have a few of these bags for myself now, they are easy to wear in my car or under a coat or out for a walk, even as a safety thing in my house. They hold a phone and a few small bits

Central heating test was fine, I like to check it before the boiler man comes, not really a service but I like to have the safety certificate. He is due in a couple of weeks.

I watched the highlights of tour of Britain last night, so nostalgic. My DH always used to say that Geraint would win the tour de France one day. He knew that crowd from his younger cycling days and dd from Wales was in the watching crowd, this weekend, G was always one of her heroes, such a nice man. I did get homesick for Wales

Have a good day

GrannyGravy13 Mon 08-Sept-25 06:49:04

Good morning from S E Essex, we are forecast a dry warm sunny day here.

I am off to the gym first thing, and then I have to send my sisters birthday gift, depending who is working in the post office will determine if this easy or problematic.

We have a friend coming over to sort out our electric garage door which seems to have developed a mind of its own.

Day 10 of the builders, I imagine they will be outside as the weather is good.

Have a good day 🙋‍♀️

madeleine45 Mon 08-Sept-25 06:52:53

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a still grey morning in North Yorkshire. Today am in slightly less pain, thank goodness and am "girding on my mental armour" for a day of sorting out!!

Anyone coming into my flat at the moment would think what a shambles, but actually it is a work in progress and I really worked hard all day yesterday, plodding through endless papers etc etc and with jobs like that you dont see a lot of improvement to keep you going. However I have a large bag of stuff to recycle, the other waste bag full of ordinary rubbish plus even went through a couple of cupboards in the kitchen but oh went to get a large potato out of a bag for a jacket potato and there were a couple of rotten ones that had transferred all their horrible smell and yuck. I gingerly got out one that looked ok but then just thought Oh no and threw the lot in the bin, actually feeling better to get rid and not for once always trying to use it. So I had a couple of new potatoes in the fridge which I boiled and then had saute with my lovely cold pork and salad. So this morning as soon as it is a bit lighter I am depositing all rubbish in my shed ready for the dustbin men early tomorrow morning. That is going to both clear the decks and give me some satisfaction at seeing a bit more space here. I have done quite a good amount from the dresser, but now have a pile of things that need sorting and documents that need to go in my file, of flat and car things. That will be something that I will also go through carefully and check that I am up to date with whatever is in there. So, after a lot of work, made harder by being in quite a lot of pain, I am getting back to being me (I hope!)

Today I am in battling - but polite - mode, so one of the first phone calls this morning is going to be to the hospital, to find out why I received no phone call from the surgeon, nor an email or phone call to explain why, or offer me another time for her to ring. I need this phone call as for me , the important bit is to tell her how my eye is and hope that she will give me the go ahead to go swimming. I am champing at the bit to get back in the pool, as hopefully that will also help me with aches and pains. However it is now going to be on my terms! This morning I am going out to meet a friend at a garden centre, and have no intention of cancelling that, to wait around for another morning and not get a call. Tomorrow I am seeing the doctor and the diabetic nurse so that will be another non-negotiable time to be available, Anyway I am determined to get some answers and if necessary will go to the hospital in person and sort things!

Today is my sons 50th birthday so that will be a much nicer phone call. He does get up quite early but wont phone him for a good while yet as he will think there is a problem if I rang him now! So I am hoping he enjoyed his surprise trip to the isle of Man, and it brought back many memories or our sailing there and his friendship with a young lad in Port St Mary. Ah a long time ago, but such lovely memories of all our sailing together. Loved sailing up in the Hebrides and right round Ireland but the IOM had a lot of different kinds of sailing to doand lots of good ports, whch we enjoyed.

They are quoting sunshine and heavy showers, so this mornings wear will have to include taking duty mac and sunglasses on my trip to meet my friend. I have quite a lot of plants still waiting for me to get going and sort and plant them. It is actually good that I am going to be too busy today and tomorrow to have a go, as I dont want the fact that I am in less pain , let me go mad and do too much, which is typically me. I tend to be of the "make hay while the sun shines" or in other words if my back will let me do as much as possible and chance being paid back later. This last month has been quite hard to cope with and who knows I might actually see some sense and be cautious for once! So it is up and at 'em today and the rain will give my car a wash. I have stuck to my guns about not washing the car, whilst we are so short of water, and do not approve of very shiny cars passing by who obviously have ignored the drought. Ah a very fat pigeon has just walked across the grass here , first sign of life outside , no sign of the squirrel. I am enjoying my radio 3 and about to get my coffee, so improving my day already. Am not going to watch the news this morning, as I am in a better frame of mind and dont want the mood changed by politicians or anything else just for this morning.

Mick, good to see you are getting back to your normal things and hope you have a good trip to Bicester. Ashcombe do hope you are feeling a bit better. A horrible combination, toothache and a headache. I think any pain in the head is the worst to cope with, so wishing you a better day. grandMattie it was good to get a lift and it is nice to see other people making the effort to be helpful. Brownie points to the neighbour. Planned to try and see the eclipse but the phone rang and I didnt notice the time until too late, but by all accounts not much to see here so probably saw it better on the tv! Greyduster , Hope your legs are somewhat better today and that you are able to do things you want to. When it comes to cars I think we are more interested in how easy they are to get in or out of and how comfortable than anything else! The only time I had to sell a car before I wanted to, was my last one. It was quite low to get into and as my back got worse I decided that I had better change it whilst I could and not get stuck and have to be helped out by someone else! So got the Kuga, and ,fingers crossed, it was a good move, as it is comfortable and I can get in and out easily. Well Bach playing and I am ready to face the day and there is even a little sign of some sunshine . Hope you all have a good day and enjoy it

Good morning all from a brightish North Leicestershire.

I might iron today but then again I might not.

Have the best day possible everyone.

cornergran Mon 08-Sept-25 07:00:24

Morning Mick, morning All. It looks dry out there. Rain back by lunch time

Little movement here yesterday. Two huge thunderstorms, one circled for 40 minutes. Not sure about the shape of today. It should be fine this morning. Perhaps we’ll join the queue at the tip to deposit huge cardboard boxes unearthed from the loft, far too much for the recycling team. The afternoon will unfold as it will. After a couple of OK days Mr C was hopping again yesterday, not a happy man.

Have the best day you can everyone

Marydoll Mon 08-Sept-25 07:00:27

Good morning all from a damp Glasgow, where it is only 8°C.
I have been coughing for the last hour and have a runny nose, what a pain, when we are off on our holidays.

GMB, I had a colleague like that, she would pump me for ideas and information, then present it as her own to the HT!

Today we are off to Northumberland for a few days, a treat from Babydoll's parents. It has been on my bucket list, for years. I'm quite excited, but apprehensive, given the unpredictability of my conditions.
However, there is a Whats App medical folder on my phone, which DH and my family have access to, in case of an emergency.
DD in all seriousness, asked me to list all the A&Es en route.

I am quite proud of myself, last night I managed to make a link on this chat to a word document in the Cloud, listing all my meds and prescriptions, as some are not repeats.
However, will DH remember? 😉

There is a retired GP in our parish, who always asks how I am and at the weekend noticed how thin I was. I was chatting to her. She reassured me, that the faints, caused by unusually low BP, are symptomatic of what is going on.
I don't think DH was convinced!

I must check up on Blossoming, she is quiet again. 💐

Susan, I hope you are still making progress.
Ash, sometimes, we need to take a step back and recharge our batteries .
Yesterday, I sat in the sacristy during Mass, realising that I was beginning to feel lightheaded and needed a break. It wouldn't have happened in the past, I would have been a martyr.😉

I wish you all a pleasant day, best wishes to all the poorlies.
Our route is unfamiliar to DH, I am dreading the journey. He is supposed to be following DS2, but I know for certain, he will go off piste, telling me the sat nav is wrong.😉

Grandmabatty Mon 08-Sept-25 07:11:35

Safe journey Marydoll. May all your detours be little ones. 😂
My ex boss did that to me when he started. Pinched my ideas and presented them to SMT as his, while getting the rest of us to plan, organise and execute said ideas. Ash he's the reason I went to four days then retired at 59. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with him now. Mattie I used to think he was teflon but, by all accounts, he's being monitored by Senior Management. I'm not sure what they can do to get rid of him though. He's applied for lots of jobs over the years and got nowhere. Scottish education is a small world and he's known

Redcar Mon 08-Sept-25 07:16:05

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s sunny and mild today again. Yesterday was a very warm day, sunny in the morning, but cloudy and humid in the afternoon. I stripped the unripe tomatoes from the plants and they’re now indoors to ripen. The plants are all in the compost bin and their garden looks bare!

Nothing planned for today, may try to get a doctors appointment as I’m still coughing a lot.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Redcar Mon 08-Sept-25 07:18:43

marydoll have a lovely break with your DS2 and family.

EkwaNimitee Mon 08-Sept-25 07:23:30

Good morning Mick and everyone. It's very cloudy here in Carlisle.
Yesterday I went for an early walk in an almost deserted park, said hello to the oldish gent I regularly see at that time, emptying all the bins. I saw the little lorry already well stacked with bin bags and hoped it really wasn't a night's collection from the park.
As I arrived home, we had a light shower and so it continued the rest of the day, the showers getting longer and heavier. By dinner time it was heavy cloud, fat chance of seeing any eclipse. I spent the day reading my book and the papers combined with a bit of admin on the computer.

Today I make a start on the routine housework and laundry. It will be interrupted by a visit to the surgery nurse to check out a lump I discovered a few weeks ago, I'm not concerned as I'm 99.9% sure it's a harmless cyst. I've waited over a fortnight for this appointment so they're probably thinking the same.

I'd like to get out in the garden after lunch, I've things to plant including 2 large bags of bulbs, crocuses and tulips. It won't be fun planting the crocuses, they're to go in the front lawn where I already have a lot but want more. They looked wonderful this last spring, I just had to keep admiring them!
The slug cull has continued, it's just the little ones now so I'm hopefully making an impact. The snails don't go for the beer so they'll be a continuing problem next year. I've found they like roosting amongst my many lavenders so I've made a rod for my own back there.

Those little bags are useful karma. I have similar ones, not made by me! I take one when walking to hold keys and phone. And they can be good in the home to ensure you always have your phone on you in case of a fall or any accident.
Incidentally. no emergency alarm test was received here even on my newish, all up to date phone.

Have a good day everyone if you can.

peli Mon 08-Sept-25 07:27:57

Good Morning from MS. Sunshine today & a bit warmer than usual. The garden is full of butterflies, as well as pretty blue dragon-flies, all fluttering amongst the Wax Mallow & Indian Blanket flowers.
Wishing a happy day for everyone, & safe travel to all on the move!

Sar53 Mon 08-Sept-25 07:28:13

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex coast.
We had a lovely weekend. Nine boats made the trip to Burnham following our gig with the rowers. They broke their own record on the way home yesterday.
We all moored up together, sat outside the clubhouse drinking and chatting and in the evening had a meal in the local pub, all 33 of us.
We arrived home about 3 yesterday afternoon completely shattered but having had a lovely time with friends.
Today is laundry day plus admin.
Have a good day everyone, best wishes to all xx

brook2704 Mon 08-Sept-25 07:28:48

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve a bright sunny start to the day
susan56 hope the chat with your friend helps
Ekwa hope your appointment today confirms all is ok
No definite plans for today, although I’ll need to do a food shop sometime.
Have a lovely holiday marydoll and safe travels to you and everyone else on the move
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Bellasnana Mon 08-Sept-25 07:40:48

Good morning from sunny Malta where we are expecting a high of 37°C.🥵

Today is a Public Holiday so it feels like another Sunday. It is also our local village festa in honour of the birth of the Blessed Virgin Mary so we have had a noisy week of fireworks, petards, bands, processions and general celebrating in the streets.

Went to Mass yesterday then DD1 came over for a while to escape from her friend who is very needy and expects DD1 to entertain her constantly. DD1 is like me, we need our own space, so she’s finding it hard.

I watched the men’s final of the US Open last night. Absolutely fabulous match, thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m late again so haven’t read all your posts yet. I shall do so over coffee once I’m up and about.

Sending best wishes to you all and hope everyone has a good week ahead.☀️

BlueSapphire Mon 08-Sept-25 07:41:41

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton, a dry and sunny two days ahead, so I think I had better strip the bed and take advantage of the good weather.

The gardener turned up at 9.30 yesterday to finish off; I shall not use them again, they did not do such a good job as my previous one, being sloppy about clearing up and also not doing all the weeding.

Yesterday stayed mostly fine but for a a brief shower at lunchtime. Panicked going to the rugby, as I did not get my usual early bus, then the next one was cancelled, and the one I eventually got was 15 minutes late. I arrived at the ground with 10 minutes to spare before the match, and they were already doing the national anthems. Found my seat easily and DD had bought me a wine! We watched two good matches, but both were very one-sided. Got home about 7.30, and enjoyed dinner in front of TV, watching Educating Yorkshire. I then promptly fell asleep in the armchair, and woke up at 2am!

Yoga this morning, being picked up at 9am, then we shall have coffee afterwards. Home to wash the bedding and tidy up after the weekend. An afternoon of catching up with the weekend papers.

Wishing all a pleasant day.
