Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 10° and looks damp.
Yesterday was a pleasant day, just pottering about the house. The new sofas arrived late morning, a couple of hours earlier than expected, however I wasn't complaining! I'm very pleased with them. Later dd popped in with my KitchenAid and dgs1. He was very impressed with the new sofas. I made butternut squash and sweet potato soup and a couple of chicken and leek pies.
Today is early childcare day. I'll get the boys up, then drop them off at school/nursery. Then I'll do an hour in the school library. Back home, I will again just potter until it's pick up time. I'll take dgs1 to his football training and attempt to keep dgs2 awake. Have a good day all

Good morning, it’s dark, wet and chilly here in south Glos, I’m hoping it bucks up for my volunteering morning in the school garden today! Definitely welly boot weather.
Yesterday we dodged the rain for both dog walks, it bucketed down for much of the afternoon.
I lit the wood burner again, I felt cold despite wearing wooly socks, a thick jumper and having a throw plus tiddler on my lap.
Autumn seems to have swept in with a vengeance here, the leaves and conkers are falling heavily from the chestnut trees, many of which have a virus that’s turning the leaves brown and crispy. We also seem to have a number of ash trees growing strongly with no signs of ash dieback which is great to see.
Best wishes to you all 🌹

Good morning from a stormy Bristol. It has rained most of the night.
Mick, may I point out that today’s the 15th?
The lunch went well enough, with the hostess being a bit pushy about requiring compliments re.her foods which was pleasant but not amazing. At the last minute, a lady from their church was added to the threesome. It made the lunch easier as normally, I’m given the 3rd degree about something, or totally ignored.
I had asked to be back by 4pm as “DS calls about then”, totally fictitious, so as not to lie completely, I called him. He Was on his way out of the door, but I did speak to him.
I’m rather dreading today. It’s the famous showdown with the Teflon area manager who is coming to discuss the budget for next year. He will it enjoy it, I’m spokesman for the close and will come away feeling very annoyed as he will have managed to sidestep every complaint or suggestion and denying responsibility for absolutely everything.
I’ve also got a WI meeting this afternoon l. Full on return to normality!
I hope MD’s appointment goes well, that *canadiansgran’s” son has the necessary diagnosis and treatment. Thoughts and hugs to those not mentioned.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

GrandMattie I hope the meeting goes well today. And in your favour.

Sallyforth Mon 15-Sept-25 06:03:02

Good morning from a dark start to the day in Cheshire where it's currently 12C, and the weather map shows heavy rain in the area today.
I am tied to the house for the next few days with work being done. The builder's back today. I shall search on internet for some tiles and work out how best to rearrange the furniture in the new room. The decorator should be able to start tomorrow.

I will get on with my crochet and supply the workers with drinks and snacks.

Hope no one has been affected by the flooding I'm reading about in the news.

Have a good day. Thinking of Marydoll today. Prayers and good wishes to all with health problems and worries. flowers

grandMattie Mon 15-Sept-25 06:04:07

batty, thank you. I’m absolutely not holding my breath, neither is anyone else. We are going to tell him that if we don’t have extremely positive signs of things happening by the end of the month, we are going to press, media and MP!

Grandmabatty Mon 15-Sept-25 06:07:16

It's good that you are prepared Mattie. For any eventuality.

karmalady Mon 15-Sept-25 06:11:52

Good morning from very windy s somerset, light rain and sun today plus the strong wind

Half an hour in my garden yesterday and enough parsley is cut and frozen for the whole year. I worked so quickly as rain was expected, cleared a 1 x 1m bed and sprinkled phacelia seed all over it. When it has grown, I chop it and will cover the bed for winter.

A slow start for me this morning, I have to take a trip in my car later

Have a good day

Good Morning fr MS - sunshine & 32c, & it's Mon morning "back to work" for the local birds...Wishing MD the very best of luck for her drs' app't! I'll read & catch up a bit later on what everybody else is doing, but thinking of all y'all.

Greyduster Mon 15-Sept-25 06:32:18

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is set to be a wet and windy day. A wet week in fact, and cold. I put a throw over my duvet last night and slept better.
Yesterday afternoon was very wet. DD and the menfolk came over and we went for lunch at a local carvery, which was super busy, but the food was good. They came back to the house for a while and left about six. Today I will go early to the gym and then look for another paint sample. Is there no end to this, I ask myself?
Have the best day you can, folks.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 15-Sept-25 06:44:39

Good morning, week four of the builders, they seem to be working efficiently and quickly, hopefully they will finish in our bedroom and bathroom today.

I am off to the gym first thing, then I have to pick up curtains and duvets for the GC room hopefully this time the colour will be ok 🤞🏻

Thinking of the FGT2s and Marydoll as they have their medical appointments today.

Susan56 Mon 15-Sept-25 06:48:24

Good morning from Shropshire where it is very windy and rain forecast all day.

Everything is shipshape and up to date here so of course I woke up to a fault on the boiler display so need to phone the company this morning.A clinic appointment this afternoon.

Hoping that Marydoll and FGT’s appointments go well today🙏🏻

I also hope that your meeting goes well grandMattie and is better than you expect💪🏼

Wishing everyone the best day possible🌻🦩

karmalady Mon 15-Sept-25 06:54:25

GM if he says that everything is in hand then counter by asking for the start dates. If really in process then he will have those dates

GrannyIvy Mon 15-Sept-25 07:01:04

Good morning from Crete. Just popping in to wish Marydoll Mickand FGTs all the best with their medical appointments today. Also hope all goes well for anyone else facing things today. GM 💐

We are going on a jeep safari DH’s idea of fun and travelling in a convoy with DH driving our buggy up some mountains at least I got out of going on the quad bike which was his preference 😬 Thankfully just a morning excursion!! Crete isn’t entirely what I expected 😂 Maybe just this area we are in but I am thankful to have a break away

Have the best day everyone

ginny Mon 15-Sept-25 07:02:54

Good morning, it’s been very windy and wet overnight, more forecast for today.
Possibility no golf for DH so he will have to make do with coffee with his golfing pals this morning.
I’m going to a WI speakers audition day with a friend, hope we hear some good speakers.
This evening ‘m going to a charity quiz night with my DDs, DGS 1 and a couple of friends.
DGS1 now has a motorcycle which worries me but he is a sensible chap, it is just all the other idiots on the road!
Wishing all as a good a day as possible.

Redcar Mon 15-Sept-25 07:07:40

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s windy but dry at the moment. A wet end to yesterday, hoping the garden is now damp enough to enable me to attack the weeds. The house has cooled down now and I put the heating on this morning.
I have to take some bags of clothes etc to the charity shop this morning, but nothing else planned for the day apart from the usual household chores.
I hope that fgt’s and marydoll’s medical appointments go well today.

grandmattie I hope that your meeting with the manager goes well and that you get some support from your fellow residents.

grannygravy I hope that the new curtains and bedding are the right colour.

Have the best day possible everyone, stay safe in the windy weather.

Ashcombe Mon 15-Sept-25 07:16:48

Good morning from a very blustery Torbay following a stormy night. Apparently, there are a few large ships sheltering in the bay near here. I’m sleeping later these days - must be preparing to hibernate!! 🦔

All the best with your meeting today, grandMattie. Contacting your MP is an excellent idea, if they are as proactive as mine was when I had issues with SWWater last year. BBC Spotlight is also good at chivying up dilatory companies.

We have several horse chestnut trees with brown crispy leaves nearby so I wonder if they too have the virus you mentioned, RosesandLilac.

Hope this is a good week for everyone. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Grandmabatty Mon 15-Sept-25 07:19:55

The new sofas. Or one of them.

BlueSapphire Mon 15-Sept-25 07:27:55

Good morning everyone from a grey but dry Northampton, hopefully dry all day, as I have to go out this afternoon.

Fun and games with my central heating yesterday, as once it was on it wouldn't switch off! Kept turning the thermostat down but.the temperature kept rising; fiddled around with the boiler controls, and no response. Temperature reached 26°, and eventually rang British Gas as I have a care plan with them. They went through a few things with me to no avail and eventually said they would send someone out but it wouldn't be until Tuesday, which I had to be satisfied with.

Then eventually Eureka! I changed the batteries in the thermostat (even though there was no warning sign) and that seemed to do the trick. Blessed relief from the continual heat. Not sure now whether to cancel tomorrow's appointment or not.

The rest of the day was spent catching up with three days of newspapers and watching the women's rugby. An unlucky loss for Ireland against France, and a good win for England.

Yoga first thing this morning, home for a quick lunch, then out for a dental check-up this afternoon. As I have just lost a filling not really looking forward to it!
After that I may jump on the bus and go to Matalan for a browse around their new season's offerings.

Ham, egg and chips for dinner tonight, using some of yesterday's roast gammon joint.

Wishing all a pleasant day, but thinking especially of FGT and Marydoll.

NannyJan53 Mon 15-Sept-25 07:30:37

Good morning from a very grey and damp Black Country, where it rained heavily all yesterday afternoon.

Confined to Barracks, I made Apple cake, Apple and Black Berry crumbles for the Freezer, and apple sauce. MrJ was given a load of apples from someone from his cycle club, and they were fairly tart to eat, so I thought better used them up.

MrJ's DD who stayed for the weekend went home late yesterday afternoon,

Line Dancing this afternoon. May give the walking group a miss this morning as it is so wet and it is getting a bit much to do both in one day. So may alternate each week.

As karma says gM ask for start dates as he needs to be pinned down on when actual work will start.

Hoping Monk is ok, as not seen her posting for a while.

Wishing you all the best day possible, with special thoughts to all who are struggling at the moment.

brook2704 Mon 15-Sept-25 07:31:29

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve a grey cloudy start to the day
Hope today goes well for you gMattie
Sounds interesting GrannyIvy take care on the mountain roads!
I’ve a volunteering session this morning and then I’ll probably call into the local garden centre on the way home for a browse. We definitely don’t need any more plants but some bulbs might just fall into my basket
Thinking especially of fgt and marydoll with their appointments today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

harrigran Mon 15-Sept-25 07:35:00

Good morning from a sunny NE where we had overnight rain again.
Yesterday was a lovely family day, twelve of us had lunch in a hotel in the countryside, followed by an enormous birthday cake. SIL has had birthday celebrations stretching over two weeks.
We came back to mine for coffee and then had champagne while GD played the piano.
DD is off home to Brussels this morning, I don't know when I will see her again.
Thoughts are with poorly people.

Georgesgran Mon 15-Sept-25 07:35:04

Good Morning from a dry, breezy Durham after several hours of torrential rain last night.
I’m in for a quiet week, with one friend away and another having visitors to stay.
Some local shopping today and the last of the pansies to plant - need more.
* Mick* could you mention your weight loss at your appointment?
Special thoughts are with MD today.

Best wishes to all. X
