Baubles the colour is called 'The Hamptons ' and is pale grey. I thought it was magnolia type! Apparently my colour recognition has changed because of the cataract surgery. Madeleine the smell of new leather is lovely when I go into the living room.
I'm having a cuppa after an hour and a half in the school library. I had a number of teachers who asked me to look for certain books or wanted a specific topic display. Always happy to oblige

hollysteers Mon 15-Sept-25 10:41:44

Stilllearning I’ve been in touch with Taichinan as she has been missing. She’s ‘confined to barracks’ and I think having a break.

Good morning, Michael12 and all!

I went into the kitchen at 11:48 last night, but I don't think the recycling bags were pleased to see me!

Glood morning from a very windy bright N Surrey. Feels just like the back to school weather we always seemed to have as a child growing up in coastal E Kent when it was the first outing of the very long green gaberdine mac.
I am looking forward to reading your post with coffee later Madeleine45. Always so interesting and positive. A great boost for me at the moment.

Finally managed to log in - why does the site periodically make me re-register? A time consuming mystery!

Very busy weekend so am taking the morning gently instead of going to U3A which I ought to be doing. These days I seem to need recovery time after what would have just been a normal level of activity; all part of the penalty of getting old, I guess. Fingers crossed for gM’s meeting and Marydoll’s consultation and for anyone trying to get answers to important and legitimate questions from those reluctant to give them.

Morning all from the Highlands.
Wet and grey this morning…haven’t been outside yet so not suture how cold it is.
Community cafe and market today then catch up on athletics.
Best wishes for those with appointments or challenges today

Stilllearning Mon 15-Sept-25 09:27:17

Morning all from South Lanarkshire. I’m just having a quick scroll through before heading out this morning, Book Group and then Yoga.

Thoughts and good wishes to everyone with medical appointments today, prayers said.

Hollysteers, I haven’t seen anything about Taichinan recently, is she unwell?

Very glad you had a good result Ekwa

Susan56 Mon 15-Sept-25 08:43:00

Fantastic Jax, so pleased for your daughter🥳

Love the new sofas and lounge Grandmabatty🥰can’t wait to do ours next year!

Good morning from a stormy northwest coast. I enjoyed two long FaceTimes yesterday with my DD and Dsister in the south.
More decluttering and in the evening watched “Dandelion Dead” on YouTube as it was based on a real life murder case in Hay on Wye, the scene of my recent visit. It starred one of my favourite actors, Michael Kitchen, who is always watchable.

Today I’ve had an email to pay for a SSL certificate for my website, but I’m thinking I don’t want a website now for singing so decisions, decisions…

So glad you have a good result Ekwa, GMs meeting goes well and thoughts to Blossoming and Taichinan
Pic of flowers with watercolour pencils.

Good morning from soggy South Lanarkshire. Yesterday felt so cold.

Lovely room Grandmabatty what colour did you use on the walls?

Good luck with the meeting gMattie.

I hope all the medical appointments go as well as possible today. I’m playing catch up as I stayed away from social media while we were on holiday.

Not much on the agenda today except to make a plan to get myself, and more importantly DH, fitter as I’ve realised we’ve both put on some unnecessary weight. DH had one knee replaced last year but the other one is giving him grief now and the added pressure can’t be helping.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Thinking specially of Mdoll and fgt today, and Blossoming

Jaxjacky Mon 15-Sept-25 08:21:04

Morning from a still, sunny S Hants, the wind blew all night and yesterday was persistent rain.
Girding of loins gMattie you can do it.
What a day yesterday, our local, as well as the meat draw, has been running a Chase the Ace card game for many weeks, the funds just before yesterday’s draw were over £10,000. My daughter won!! So very pleased for her and it was lovely the many people who said it was well deserved, we won two rib eye steaks as well.
Down to earth today, housework, a few odds to buy in the village and might take the tomatoes out, quiz tonight.
What a relief Ekwa it must have been a niggle.
Best of luck to those with medical appointments today and a gentle day for those struggling.

Georgesgran, it was the practice nurse nurse, who noted in August, how much weight I had lost since my last heart and COPD review in 2024 and it was recorded in in my notes.
Fat lot of good that did!

Grammaretto Mon 15-Sept-25 08:17:02

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Rain again but so long as it stays outside I don't mind it at all.
I defrosted apples for my breakfast and realise it's rhubarb. I really must label things.

I had a pleasant Sunday, tidying the greenhouse chucking out the finished tomatoes and cucumber plants sewing and listening to a play. My friend came for early supper with wine and we watched the film at the community cinema in the Town Hall. The heating is not put on until a certain day in October, never mind the temperature! Must take a blanket next time.

I must send a birthday present to DGD. It may have to be Amazon.

Good luck with the Teflon management gMattie 🤞

Thinking of Marydoll and FGT

I hope your blood tests are satisfactory Mick

Off to my exercise class shortly.
Have a good day everyone.

Marydoll Mon 15-Sept-25 08:12:36

Good morning all from a damp Glasgow, where is is 8°C.

GMB, I nearly bought that rug, but chose one with more blue in it!
Enjoy your new sofas.

Yesterday, I had an easy shift at Church, the young sacristan carried the load, while I busybodied and networked.
I had to smile, when soneone called to me, that I was looking so well!
Looking at ne, you would never know there was something wrong, which has been part of the difficulty getting help.
However, a number of people have commented on my dramatic weight loss, some telling me I needed to put on weight!!

I wandered over to the jumble sale (which really wasn't a jumble sale) and took some photos of work, which had been done this week, to send to the parish priest, who is still recuperating.
As I stepped in to the hall, one of the tea ladies came out to ask if she could make me a cuppa. She was so kind, for the kitchen was closed.
A pleasant ten minutes was spent chatting to people and rummaging among the goods.
I picked up a some unused books for Babydoll, but unfortunately, there were no dinosaur books, her latest obsession!
We made £400 for our Restoration fund, not too bad for unwanted goods, the remainder of items are going to the charity shop this week.
Normally, I would offer to take it, but I kept quiet!

Obviously, I am anxious about today's appointment. However, I am relieved that at last someone has taken notice after eight months of seeking help. The fact that she is the GP, who conscripts me into being a guinea pig for the medical students and I trust her, does make it easier.
It is obvious that I have a difficult journey ahead, but I am a seasoned traveller and have plenty of experience of serious illness and uncomfortable procedures.
The irony of it all, is that I feel slightly better!

Best wishes for those with medical appointments today.
Enjoy your day, whatever your plans.
Good luck with your meeting, GM, Mr Teflon doesn't stand a chance!

Good morning Mick and everyone from rainy Carlisle though we have fleeting glimpses of blue sky.
Yesterday I did get out to the garden centre where I naughtily treated myself to a scone. It was quite early so it was fresh and warm, straight from the oven.
I bought the plants and bulbs I'd wanted and one or two more of course.
On the way home, I had a low tyre pressure warning light come on. I admit to never ever having inflated tyres except under training from my sons! Later in the afternoon when they'd cooled, I got out my new tyre inflating gizmo and, to my astonishment, all went speedily and well. Now to hope it's not due to a slow puncture, these are rather new tyres.
Before that, I'd planted most of the bulbs but left the shrubs until I feel more energetic.
Today is the usual laundry and cleaning and still more tedious admin.
And good news from last Friday...the lump in my breast is what I thought, a harmless cyst. It took half the morning at the hospital for that result, mostly sitting around waiting for the mammogram and ultrasound. I just need to keep an eye on it now.

The best of luck with your meeting grandMattie. Why is this guy being so useless?!

And wishing you all a good day and success with difficult endeavours and problems.

Good morning from a sunny and slightly breezy Suffolk. Thank goodness the very strong winds haven’t yet appeared and hoping they don’t.

In the light of that forecast we planned to have a day at home after our busy weekend. I hope that those with important medical appts have helpful answers and feel reassured by those dealing with any treatment.

grandMattie Mon 15-Sept-25 07:44:25

Hugs for the FGTs too. 🫂❤️
Thanks for the valuable advice. MP? Hmm, too important now - Darren Jones….
Ishallnow sir down and prepare for the meeting ☹️

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 15-Sept-25 07:43:37

Morning all from a very wet and windy West Oxfordshire.

Back to my usual Monday. Our cleaner is due this morning. I will do a Waitrose shop. I will collect mine and OH’s prescription. Finally I will attend a Diabetes Prevention talk.

I am looking forward to collecting my final framed print soon. I’m still not sure which wall it’s going on as it’s quite big.

My pc is still badly affected with a virus although I have not one but two anti virus things installed. The IT guy who I last had to use in 2018 and was very good, still hasn’t replied to my emails. Hopefully I can find someone else.

I do hope all goes well today for MD and the FGT2S. GM too with her meeting.

Good morning from a sunny Peterborough, we shall be returning home today. A very nice lunch out yesterday and a lazy afternoon
Wishing all the best to Marydoll the FGTs and * Mick*.
Hope the meeting isn’t to bad gM

Good morning Mick and all GN's on a very dark still morning in North Yorkshire. I can see the outline of the tree , but that is about it.

Well I am glad to be up and the last horrible night over for me. I had a lovely lunch and day with my friend, a reasonable run home, so dont know what triggered it, but have had such a horrible night. A lot of pain and couldnt find a comfortable position to sleep in. Then when I did sleep, rotten dreams and nightmares and waking up in a panic, one time breathing so fast and my heart racing, it felt horrible. I had to put the light on and read for a time to calm myself down, and then you want to go back to sleep because you are tired, but dont want a repetition of that kind of dream. Ah well its over now, and no doubt at some time (the most inconvenient ) I will fall asleep in my chair, missing some denoument of the play or let the dinner burn.

So I need to turn my thoughts onto the more mundane but important things that need doing today. Carrying on with the boring dresser sorting of course, which at the moment I have not the slightest wish to do, but more importantly I need to find a document. Have had a letter about dealing with something, but cant find the actual document at the moment. That has a reference number on it that I need to quote, and have a time limit to deal with it. So at least the fact that I am really struggling to move about , wont make much difference and , fingers crossed, I will find it , and while I am going through a file, in case it has been filed in the wrong bit, will mean that I will check dates and so forth on other things. I do keep a calendar of dates that things are due and mark the due date but then also put a reminder note for the week before, which usually works well, so can also check on these dates and fingers crossed by tonight, will have got that sorted and the calendar up to date with no horrible discovery that I havent paid something vital!!

We have been having quite a sunny day yesterday but interrupted by very heavy short bursts of rain, so hoping that this is getting down into the soil to really make the ground wet, not just dampen the top inch or two. My plants are still waiting for either me to feel able to do some weeding and planting, or find someone who is free and willing to do this. The problem round here at the moment is that there are plenty of adverts for people who will do paving and building garden things and major changes, but these are not the people to trust with precious plants that need care and careful planting - and where I want , not where they can be bothered to put them. I dont have much of a border to plant in and also have to be careful on one corner coming towards the door, near the path edge, where careless delivery men or such often walk on it, so not risking anything delicate at that point. Come to think of it I shall have to choose something quite prickly to go there and encourage people to stay on the path!! So this looks like it is going to be a total day of sorting stuff out here and must do some ironing, so plenty of things to get on with, only not much energy to begin with. Well I will be content with finding the document if nothing else gets done!!

The wind is already picking up , as it is lighter now I can see it picking up in gusts, and think the children will be out looking for conkers today. I always loved the beauty and glow of conkers getting them out of their prickly green outer covers. Sadly the glow never lasted long, but finding them and scuffing through lovely piles of crunchy leaves was a great pleasure of autumn. I used to love taking my son in his pushchair to a nearby wood and watching him loving scuffling in the leaves but always having to watch him as he would find a conker but always wanted to eat it! I love chestnuts and use them in stuffing and all sorts and I suppose he thought they were another kind of chestnut.

Mick, I hope all goes well and you get good results from your blood test. Grandmabatty, hope your morning of childcare goes well and that you have taken a photo of your sofas in their pristine beauty. That lovely first day, when you keep looking at them and touching the covers and sitting on them , and that lovely new smell, that is only there for a little time, and then they are just part of the furniture - literally!
grandMattie, All power to your elbow, as they say, for todays great run in with Teflon man. I wish there was a magic carpet to transport me to be by your side in reality today, but you will be facing him with all our mental support for you and I shall be rooting for you and if the power of thought works at all I shall be sending you much armour for the fight, and the important thing to remember is that Right is on your side. i suggest that you write a list - in capital letters - and try and put each thing that has not been done, the number of times you have raised the subject and it has been ignored etc, and on another piece attached to that list, have a different list, of the people you have contacted to complain about the lack of work done, the broken promises and their broken contract with you. You agreed to your rents etc which were agreed with a contract for them to do certain things for you in return, They have not done those things and it is not even one or two things but many, so I think they have also broken their promises and could be done under the trades description act as they have taken money from you and not delivered the goods. Of course do add in that you are collecting further evidence from the other places that they supposedly provide support, and that you are getting an overall picture of this company that local , regional and country wide newspapers and tv programmes are interested in learning how it is going. Perhaps seeing your with things listed and information gathered might make him more aware of your intention to carry on the fight and he is not going to get away with anything anymore,

Actually it doesnt matter if you havent done half of that yet. You have the intention to do things which you have not yet had time to do. Hopefully seeing this united determined front might take a bit of the teflon off his surface if nothing else! Go get him girl. We are all rooting for you. Oh , if only you were a bit nearer, I would love to jump in the car and join you for the fight. Best of luck with it all, you can always thing "Now what would Madeleine say!!" Looking forward to hearing how it went and whatever happens, you have done very well to keep scratching on the Teflon. Scratched teflon gets thrown away, hopefully he might get the sack!! Sallyforth, hope you get the jobs sorted quickly and they dont come saying they will have to go back for x and y that they have forgotten or didnt think they would need! I am sure that the important job of tea and coffee lady will help matters along. Karmalady, hope you get your seeds planted before the winds take them away. It is many years since I visited somerset, I enjoy hearing about all your efforts in your garden and imagining them in my mind. I get itchy feet looking at the map, but now is not the time to plan a long trip, but health allowing I am already thinking of places that I would like to go back to in the spring. Living up here in Yorkshire I tend to go west or north , and it is some time since I have been down south. When I used to live in London we used to go to cornwall and Dorset etc and so I have just started a little bit of research about a southern trip. Whether it would work out better to drive down, at a steady pace and add in B/B and fuel, but the comfort of my own car and all the bits and pieces I can have with me, or to look at either flying down or more likely taking the train, with my rail card, and then doing public transport and hiring a car to get to more of the wilds that are not on a transport route. Whether I shall actually get to do any of it I dont know , but I am having a look at the possibilities. I like wandering round as and where I want, and so package trips to one place are not my cup of tea, and as I do here, even when I set off to go somewhere, an interesting name of a village or a sign about something can have me changing my mind and going off down an unknown lane. Sometimes the interesting name proves a disappointment , but have often found something worth visiting and love to find myself up high somewhere with beautiful views below,. That used to be me climbing mountains and hills, but now have to be content with driving there and on good days can have a little walk. Well we shall see how things go.

In the meantime, I hope the day goes well for everyone and especially Mattie. Strap on that mental armour and go for it champion!!
