Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.
Special thoughts of the soops tonight. Tough times to endure. We all care I know this much. x
FGT so pleased you had a good day.
So sorry to hear about your godmother redcar sending condolences to you and all the family
Thank you all for your kind messages about the storm, today has been another extremely windy day but hopefully tomorrow will be better. We’ve been really lucky not to have lost power, a lot of houses on either side of our little cul de sac don’t have power but fortunately for us we’re still on. Loads of trees down locally, roads covered in debris a trampoline at the top of the road. The garden next door has a big tree down but it fell the other way so our fence is still standing. I hope everyone else affected by the storm is doing ok too
Enjoy the family time tomorrow Jax and hope you sleep well tonight grandmabatty
A lovely evening fgt, one to treasure ❤️
Sorry to read about your godmother redcar but good that you got to be there at the end 💐
Condolences on the loss of your godmother, Redcar 💐
I’m so sorry for the loss of your godmother redcar.
Stay safe brook and all affected by the storm.
A good memory fgt. Love to you both.
Apologies to those I’ve not mentioned. Sleep well everyone. Stay safe.
Thank you so much for your condolences and thoughts on the loss of my godmother everyone. It’s comforting to know that you are thinking of us at the moment.
My condolences too Redcar an amazing lady 🥀
Glad to hear the day improved FGT a lovely outing with family.
Sunny and calm here, I’ll get washing out before family descend.
Good morning all.
So sad to hear about your godmother Redcar and send my condolences.
She seemed a remarkable lady and I hope she went peacefully after such a mercifully short illness.
Best wishes also to the FGT family that things remain stable ,getting to see family and pain under control.
There are some sad times in the kitchen and I pray our hostess is doing as well as she can with her family visits and friends in her village for whom she has done so much.
I was so happy to be home yesterday, we drove through some very bad weather but didn’t take much longer than the expected two hours.
I have two further trips away this month but am seriously considering whether I should go.
I felt unwell and very vulnerable, one is to my D and she will be upset but I must put me first.
Just at the moment it is not possible for her to come here as she is in a new job after closing her own business and things are not easy for her.
I am so relieved that my H is not here to see what is happening with our family at the moment, but at the same time I don’t like dealing with it all on my own.
No family now but the immediate one.
Amy has settled from the wind and rain yesterday but breezy ,wet and chilly.
I hope your days are decent everyone.
Kalispara Kitcheners wifi not great but will try.🤞
We have our sons here and it’s been great showing them all the places we visited when they were young.Today we hired a boat not easy with our amputee son but
he managed it very well, he’s the best just gets on with it.We have a big storm coming in and now the sea is really rough so no more boating.DH has been OK and really enjoyed being here.I think it’s been good for him.We come home on Thursda so a few days left.
FGT so pleased you had a nice time with your family.❤️
Redcar💐
Grandmabatty hope your feeling better.🌻
FGT how lovely from your grandson to say that ,those are the memories that will stay with you forever 💕
FHT those few precious hours yesterday must have lifted your spirits and your dear Man’s more than you can express.
I hope Himself feels like a family day again soon.
Beautiful pictures Yia good to hear MrY is having a good time too.
As you say utbb you do for you, but you never know, if home gets sorted you may feel more up to trips out 🤞
The lasagna I made for family was demolished, a ‘polite’ amount left!
We then went to the pub where Mr J and I won some diced venison and chicken fillets on the meat draw, my daughter won a cocktail, good job she wasn’t driving.
Quiet evening ahead, dishwasher is chuntering away.
Yiayia those are lovely photos of your boys. Jaxjacky that's a good result! And gives you stuff to eat too.
I've been quietly busy today. Emptied and loaded the dishwasher, cleaned the bathroom, hoovered throughout and finished the drying for dd. I visited dd and the boys this morning and that was nice. I had another nap too, just to rest. Tesco delivered this afternoon and the driver was really interesting. He gave me recipe ideas and told me about his previous life as a roadie.
I had sirloin steak and chips with fried onions and mushrooms for dinner and managed to cook it exactly as I wanted. I'm having a sherry because I've gone off wine. So a very pleasant Sunday. Ds messaged me from his flight to Munich and said it was hairy - very bumpy. I hope he gets there ok. All my best to you all
I envy you your steak and chips Grandmabatty something I was looking forward to while away but it wasn’t to be.
I have actually had a ready meal from Morrisons, not a place I ever shop but n pmt GD and her BF brought it in for me as I was tired and didn’t want to cook.
It was Coq au Vin with mash and it was very tasty , so much so that I have asked them to get me a couple to keep in the freezer.
Ok standards are going down but needs must when one gets older.
I hope you are all over the stormy weather, Corfu looks idyllic Yia so pleased you are enjoying with your family and your DH is getting so much from it.
You must feel content.
I am off to my bed now, I am very tired.
Good night all, a good rest to you all.
granmabatty steak & chips with all the trimmings sounds wonderful! I hope your DS arrives safely in Munich.
jaxjacky well done in the meat draw today.
utbb I keep a few ready meals in the freezer for the days I can’t be bothered to cook, tonight’s was beef bourguignon, with carrots and sprout! It was very tasty.
yiayia lovely photos of your family. I’m pleased that your DH is enjoying the holiday. I hope you all have a good time for the next few days.
I’ve had a very quiet day today, I have strained muscles in my back which is restricting my movements, very frustrating!
Have a pleasant evening and a good nights sleep everyone.
What lovely pictures Yia thank you for sharing, enjoy the rest of your holiday and hope your DH is doing ok
Pleased your day went so well Jax , lasagna is always a firm favourite here too
Hope your son has arrived safely now grandmabatty
I’ve had such a lovely day at DD2s, it’s DGSs 12th birthday today so we all had a buffet lunch and birthday cake then played games this afternoon. I was so pleased when midway through the afternoon he sat next to me on the sofa and snuggled in for a cuddle - it’s been a while and I’d been thinking my cuddle days were over! Then I got another lovely hug when leaving - it’s so daft I know because he’s growing up now but it makes such a difference to me.
DGD is off on a residential school trip tomorrow and looking forward to it so I’m pleased the weather has improved for her
uttb pleased you’re home safely now and redcar hope your back is a bit better soon
Hope soop, fgt and everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok, take care all x
brook cuddles with your dgs sound wonderful! Utbb coq au vin is one of my favourites.
Ds has arrived safely in Munich and is happily drinking German beer. I'm off to bed. Toya.
I have had to bite my tongue so many times this evening, with my host. I have an autistic GS, and a GS who is highly intelligent but is being assessed for ADHD.
Apparently it’s all made up and it’s something that they grow out of
It has upset me, I think it’s an end of a friendship.
I’m so sorry grannyg and totally understand. There is autism in our family and I regularly have a volunteer shift with someone who expresses the same thoughts with the addition of ‘it’s just so they can claim benefits’. It’s painful to hear, isn’t it?
GrannyGravy you will know from my posts I empathise with your feelings tonight.
You must act on your friendship as you feel .
I would be ending it.
So sorry to hear that GG no wonder you’re upset, I would be too
Grannygravy that's rotten for you. Definitely back away.
I'm sorry to hear that GG. I think that a lot of people who do not have Autism or ADHD in their family have no idea about it.
If only they could ' grow out of it'.
Best wishes xxx
grannygravy I have a friend whose 19 year old son is severely autistic with a rare syndrome as well. Many people have no idea what autism is and think it can be “cured” as a child gets older.
Thinking of you!
