An early ‘Evening All’.
So far we are having a 2nd smooth and relaxing day, without drama. Bluddy wonderful and so needed for both of us.
Himself had the energy today for a shave this morning (arms up, no muscles) which was too much effort before his admission. He even ran the hair clippers over his scalp. Bath tomorrow he said. He has to pace himself now.
Anyway we nipped down to our pharmacy. The doctor on the ward round on Tuesday advised Covid & flu jabs asap - “providing of course you feel well enough.”
He did today and he’s jabbed now.
And can you believe it? Whilst waiting on chairs in the small queue (4 in total) a chap got talking to Himself. He’d overheard the pharmacist when he’d come to shake his hand, delighted to see him “looking so much better than when I saw you a couple of weeks back”.
Himself was telling him about his recent emergency hospital admission “they’ve set me back on track again, for now”.
Well it only turned out that the chap sitting nearby had also been a patient in Christie’s under the care of Professor Mansoor! Oesophageal cancer, five years ago, operated upon and treated - discharged this summer. What an inspirational story. I ‘high fived’ him saying ‘marvellous news’. He’s 67 apparently. Symptoms out of the blue at 62 and as we too got told - “just bad luck”.
You can tell we’re northerners - chatting away like this - no polite ‘no eye contact’ up here!
Then we dived into the Loungers bar for lunch. Veg soup and a slice of toast for Himself, bacon and delicious hot cheese toastie with a flat white for me.
Came back up, meds for Himself and he’s now sat on the sofa snoozing. The hernia belt is amazing! What a huge difference it’s made for his mobility absolutely pain free now.
It’s dry here but chilly out now the sun’s gone in. No need of heating in here yet. The temperature in this apartment is 24°C! We do get any sunshine though behind glass in this main room from 11am onwards.
