Hello Kitcheners- hope you don't mind and apologies if a new kitchen has already been opened elsewhere but I couldn't find it if there has... I've done my best but it still needs a few throws and cushions to make it more homely, ready for the nights drawing in and chillier evenings. Some freshly baked scones, jam and cream on the side if you fancy a treat.
I hope you dont think it presumptious of me to start this kitchen as I don't post as regularly as some of you but do find Soops Kitchen a lovely place to drop into even if I've nothing to say.

The sun was shining today, so I got two loads of washing dried.

I had my gas central heating upgraded to something called Tado. The minor problem is that it is either cold or at 25 °C to work, and amazingly, I cannot afford to run it at that temperature. Naturally the fellow thinks it s all my fault!

I appear to wash for the area, a good job I have not ironed for many years.

Charleygirl5 I've Googled Tado and you should be able to set the thermostat to less than 25°.
Hope you find a solution. smile

Hello, Kitcheners! Had a phone chat with soop this afternoon. She and MrSoop are chugging along as best they can in the circumstances. The best of the last two or three weeks have been two visits. I forget which order they happened but one son (can never remember if he is DS1 or 2) and his wife came up from Rutland to visit and stayed nearby for a few days.

Separately, DS3 and his fiancée and their two boys came up from London. They had managed to arrange a blessing for their upcoming marriage at a church local to the Soops. soop said it was "beautiful". I'm glad she was able to experience that, although she did say that the effort of having to get properly dressed for it rather wore her out!

MrSoop's scalp continues to be dressed periodically and continues to improve. The part of his thigh from which skin was taken for the graft is still giving him some gyp though. The trials of aging, eh?

soop, as always, sends love to all. She regrets that she no longer feels able to come on Gransnet and feels the gap in her life as a result. I assured her that you were all still "that Lovely Lot".

A lovely update from you Baggs concerning the very dear soops. I’m sure we will all miss her chatting with us in her kitchen and the wonderful sunset photographs she shared - making many of us envious of the views from her garden.

However it’s good to hear that they’re together, home and settled, enjoying visits too from their much loved family members. It’s what we all want for them. x

Evening everyone, I've not been in the kitchen for ages, sorry. To make up for my unauthorised absence, I shall knit a blanket for the Quiet Corner, if that's ok.

Usedtobeblonde Sun 28-Sept-25 19:37:55

Kindest thoughts to the Soop’s and many thanks to Baggs for keeping us up to date.
I hope you are able to pass on all the good wishes flying through the ether to both of them.
It is a trying time for many of our Kitchener’s just now, I hope sincerely that you all know you are, everyone of you, in our thoughts.

It’s been a beautiful sunny day here, we enjoyed a trip out to Brodie Castle and a walk in the grounds. We did a bit of gardening when we got home, there’s always lots to do.

Thank you for the update on the soops baggs. Good news that Mr Soops head is gradually healing. Also good news that family have been able to visit and that the soops were able to attend the blessing of their DS3’s upcoming marriage. Thank you for keeping us up to date.
brook a lovely photo and it looks to have been a lovely day for a walk.
DD1 and family called in for an hour or so this afternoon, my son in law got into the loft and brought down some more boxes to sort through. One of them was labelled and put back again, no room downstairs for a punch bowl and six glasses! I haven’t used them in years but one of the DDs will want them in due course. Some brass ornaments will be heading for the metal skip at the tip soon! The loft is looking emptier now, which is good. I wish the same could be said for the living rooms downstairs! I think there are still a few mystery boxes in the loft to be investigated.

Had my usual catch up phone call with my friend in Kent.
Enjoy the rest of the evening everyone.
