Good Morning Tuesday 23rd September 2025
(47 Posts)Good morning from our hotel in Turkey. We are 2 hours ahead of the UK but neither of us slept well and were awake very early.
We are just about to head of to breakfast then will do some exploring.
We arrived in the dark last night so it's good to see the sea this morning.
Wishing you all a peaceful day xx
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a still dark South Yorkshire.where it is currently a chilly 5 degrees. We are promised a dry sunny day again.
The gym was very busy yesterday morning - the first time I have had to queue for the equipment. On the way home I called in at the garden centre and bought cyclamen to fill in some gaps in my new heather bed until the heathers start growing properly next year, and to provide a bit of winter colour. I didn’t get the chance to plant them yesterday but will do so today. As it’s going to be a decent day I shall take myself off for a walk somewhere later.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from a dry, about to be sunny, Bristol. Yesterday’s sun was so welcome!
Such a shame that your moment of fame was edited out, Mick.
Yesterday turned out to be slightly surreal.
First, two electricians due around 2pm turned up around midday. They examined my heater, told me that it needed replacing but commented that their company was fifth down the feeding chain of contractors!
Around 330, I answered the door and found two electricians coming to look at my heater. They were from the original contractors. They were not please£ about the others and made me feel stupid about letting the last lot in. How do I know?
Next a friend came, last in a list of people trying to “pair” my landline with the new modem put in in June. After nearly an hour of plugging, unplugging, switching on and off, she called BT. She was asked the usual questions, then asked why it had taken so long to report the non-functioning of the phone. In the end, after making us feel stupid, it turns out that there was a fault on their side - don’t ask, I don’t understand. The fault was fixed after two hours, and I’m supposed to have a functioning landline. (I asked if I was due a refund or rebate for three months without a landline, I was briskly told it was automatic, and would appear on my bill in a month. Hmmm).
That had just finished, when another friend appeared with three huge bags of apples and japonicas…
I was glad when all that was over and I had some peace…
I only have a PCC meeting this evening, but shall be baking for tomorrow, probably make some mincemeat and try to finish the baby quilt.
Welcome back, blossoming. I’m sorry that you are leaving whywhywhy, all the best. Hugs to those with difficulties.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire. I'm still in bed - my own bed.
Not a lot happening here - a little gentle unpacking of the hospital bag and dozing, I would imagine.
We like Emma Vardy, Mick she seems very prominent at the moment.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good Morning fr MS, sunny & 30c again. The hummingbirds are back here until next month, & they keep my dh on the hop supplying their fresh sugar water. They come right up to him & give him a torrent of teeny tiny chirps when they aren't pleased! (They're only 2" in size)
I hope all the grans on holiday are having a fab time, & that the "poorlies" feel a bit brighter.
Good morning from Malta where it is lovely and cool at present but riding to 30°C later.
I’ve just arrived to look after the boys but they are both still asleep.
They were absolute angels yesterday. Took them to the local park early but it was already getting hot so we didn’t stay long. Popped into the shop for milk, they both dashed in and brought the milk to me while I was being side-tracked by a lady who told me she had 40yr old twin girls, one of whom has twin boys!
We had a good day playing with trains, reading, Lego etc before their mum collected them at 3pm. DGS2 had fallen asleep on me by then.
Thank you all so much for your kind words yesterday which had me in tears again. It helps to share with you who have gone through similar sorrows.
Very happy to see you posting again Blossoming. Hope you feel better. You were missed.💐
Glad you are home Kittylester. There’s nothing like your own bed especially when recovering from being unwell.
Enjoy Turkey Sar.
What a lot of aggravations you’ve had grandMattie. Anything remotely ‘techy’ has me anxious as I understand none of it. I gave up my landline as the only calls I received were wrong numbers!
There’s a parents meeting at school today so son in law will pick the boys up at 9.30 and then they will stay at school with DD3 until she’s finished, so I have a short day of childcare. Not sure what I shall do with myself afterwards.
Sending best wishes to all for a good day. ☀️
peli what a beautiful photo!🤩
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° with clear skies. No sign of frost today. GrandMattie a very busy day for you! Bellasnana I'm sure you will find something to do after the boys go, even if it's a nap!
Yesterday was quiet. I stayed home and did some ironing and made soup until it was time to pick up the car.
Today I'll pick up the boys shortly, feed them breakfast and drop them at school/nursery. Apparently dgs2 has been telling anyone who will listen that his grandma's exhaust fell off. 😂 Today I might clean the windows inside and mirrors etc. Then potter about before picking up the boys again. Have a good day all
Good morning from Lancashire. It's always reassuring when I see the time on your messages and know that I'm not the only early riser.
I'm off to the vet's this morning with my new guinea pigs. My last trip was to have my last one put to sleep. She was almost eight years old, which is a very good age for a guinea pig. This morning I'm taking my new ones for a check-up.
It's chilly this morning but the forecast is for a dry and sunny day.
Good morning, it’s a clear sky here, another lovely sunny day I hope.
I’m off to a nearby NT house with a friend this morning, it will be lovely to get out , DH never wants to go anywhere nowadays and I don’t enjoy going out by myself all the time.
An early dog walk with tiddler, it’s beautiful weather for walking.
Beautiful photo Peli, how wonderful to have those incredible little birds in your garden!
Take care everyone 🌹
Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It felt a chilly night and I have to admit summer is gone and Autumn has definitely arrived. Yesterday we had a lovely walk through woodlands and gardens at our local NT property. The cyclamen were so pretty and the dahlia’s still looking good.
Today I am meeting a friend whom I used to work with for brunch at the garden centre then on to Next to collect an order of new jeans it is time to change from my shorts into warmer wear! Then I will pick up the little ones from school. DGD2 is struggling with starting senior school, she now has an early start to get there, a long day and going from a small village school to a large one (and carrying her rucksack around all day) is making her rather tired. Lots of adjusting. The 6 year old is coping better but wanted lots of cuddles yesterday. DD2 seemed in need of a big hug yesterday too. She is working lots of extra hours and coping with two needy children. Will I ever stop worrying about them all I suspect not 😂
Wishing everyone a good day
Good morning from a dry and clear Torbay with sunshine promised.
Let’s hope for some positive outcomes from your various contacts yesterday, grandMattie!
So pleased to hear that you’re home, kittylester! The best feeling to be in your own bed after a hospital stay!
Well captured, peli! Seeing the humming bird brings back memories of a visit to friends in Michigan some years ago. Fascinating creatures. (the birds, that is, although the friends were good company, too!)
DH needed some emergency dental treatment yesterday which hurt his pocket more than his mouth! He enjoyed rediscovering the seafront when I dropped him off before my exercise class and the sunshine obliged which helped.
My (soon to be 13 year old) DGD texted a list of things she’d like for us to choose something to buy for her birthday - bicycle and watch are the only ones I recognise! Sigh!
Off to help with Props today which will see us gathering and putting away the things used in The Hollow last week.
Wishing everyone a good day, especially Sar in Turkey. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning, I can feel a chill in the air.
Today I am taking myself out for the day, it’s going to be rather noisy inside and out!
I have school pick up of The Imp, the 10yr old cycles on his own now. Then it’s swimming lesson for The Imp.
I can report that I finished all the ironing yesterday, hooray.
Lovely photo peli
Enjoy resting kitty 🌸
grannyivy beautiful photos
Good morning from cold s somerset
2 degrees, still, on my weather station, I need to reprogramme each digital thermostat, they are not accurate at all and the ch never came on first thing, I will get those tweaks done today
Sitting quietly with a shawl around my mouth, to try and soothe the pain. I believe this healing could take a long time
Have a good day
Good morning from Shropshire.Another sunny day forecast.
A sad couple of days as DD’s FIL has had a brain haemorrhage and is very unwell. We are on call to collect the children later if things don’t improve.
Thinking of you all and wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻
I am glad you are home Kitty, rest and more rest
Good morning from a chilly W Kent. A visit to the paramedic yesterday means I am to have an appointment at a foot clinic in December, just hope I can keep walking till then.
We are both visiting a friend of ours this afternoon, they have an 80th birthday coming up
Best wishes
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a grey cloudy start to the day
Lovely photos here this morning thank you peli and grannyivy

Hope the pain eases soon and check no infection has settled in Karma
Have a restful day Kitty
Lovely pic Peli
Good morning everyone from mid Essex, where it’s clear, sunny and 6 degrees again. The house is cooling down and I put the heating on to warm it up. As it’s sunny the house will soon warm up again.
grandmattie a hectic day for you yesterday. I hope that your heating problem is soon resolved and that your landline is now working. From experience with BT, a refund will be credited to your account without any problem.
kitty, you must be relieved to be home again, take it easy until you are fully recovered.
susan sorry to hear about your DD’s father in law.
. peli a lovely photo of the hummingbird, I hadn’t realised they’re so tiny! grannyivy lovely flowers on your walk yesterday! My usual walk is round playing fields, so just boring grass!
Yesterday one of my friends cut the grass in the back garden for me, then my next door neighbour came and cut back some of the shrubs which were hanging over into my garden, it looks so much better now. I hope to be able to do more myself in the coming months.
Happy holidays to those enjoying warmer places!
Thinking of those who are struggling in any way and hoping the day brings some relief for you.
Have the best possible everyone.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
I packed a lot in yesterday. After my physio appointment, I spent an hour in Register House looking up the history of my house as I'm to give a talk about it next month to U3A
I met my French friends for lunch.
I took them to the Storytelling centre where it's quiet.
Then home where one of the pottery group helped move furniture ready for my niece's family.
My lodgers have given notice that they are leaving after only 3 months rather than 6 which I wasn't expecting.
Today dentist, exercise class and Gaelic class.
A friend is selling her old car which I may buy so will test drive hers.
Lovely pics this morning.
So glad you are home kitty. Rest up as long as you need.
Sorry to hear your sad news Bella and Susan
My DSis also had sad news on arriving home from holiday. Her BiL is on life support and they were rushing to his bedside.
I hope everyone has some joy today.
Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 7°C.
Welcome home Kitty and so pleased to see you posting, Blossoming,
Hopefully, the day will be a better day for you GM
Thank you for the beautiful photos.
