Good Morning Thursday 15th September 2025
(40 Posts)Good morning everyone from sunny Bulgaria 🇧🇬 where we are up with the lark (seagulls actually, proper home from home, eh🤬) and about to trot down for breakfast, we’re two hours ahead here.
Lovely quilt grandMattie, definitely an eye for colour as well as nifty needlework!
Sorry to read of so many sadnesses regarding health 💐 Hope you all find strength to keep buggering on x.
Loved your story of beach visits to grandmother’s Jax - mine lived on a farm miles from the coast but had a huge shell on her piano and taught me to listen to the sound of the sea when she held it to my ear! Must have had an idea I’d buy a home 400 yards from the 🏖️!
Will keep popping in and hope things go well for all x
Good morning from another beautiful day in Turkey. The weather is hot every day.
We are going by water taxi to Fethiye today, I'm looking forward to exploring.
I heard from DD1 that S has been back in hospital and was found to have covid which had made her asthma worse. Not a great start to her time at college. Her 13 year old sister has it too. Hopefully both now on the mend.
I've been reading the posts over the last few days and I'm sorry to hear of illness and upset.
Best wishes to all xxx
Good morning from Bristol.
Glad your tests were OK, Mick.
I had a fairly busy morning yesterday with the usual FAB cafe; well attended and generally happy.
Long nap in the afternoon in anticipation of late night. I completely finished the quilt and gave it to my neighbour - she was preoccupied and took it with no comment, which rather astonished me.
Early dinner - chickpea and chorizo stew, delicious - before going off to my WI quiz in Cleveden. They are well organised, tables spaced and good. The raffle prizes were worth it, though I didn’t win. My table came joint second. We should have sailed into first place but overthought several answers.
I was dropped off some time after 10pm, well past my bedtime.
Today, I have tai chi and possibly dinner at DD’s . They are all going out early to a gig where SiL plays his trombone; it’s hardly worth the long journey, etc., for barely an hour with them.
Have a good day one and all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from Malta where it is still dark but we expect a fine day with a high of 31°C.
There was a lot of rain yesterday which Gozo bore the brunt of, having severe flooding in some areas. We got off lightly.
Mick it’s the 25th.
I will be interested to hear what you think of Bulgaria, Pants as my son’s partner hails from there and they are planning to go and live there next year as she misses her family, particularly a much younger little sister.
Had a good day with the boys yesterday until the last half hour when they were out of control and I was praying for their mother to come for them! They egg each other on and won’t listen as they think they’re being funny.
More of the same today but it’s my last day of regular childcare as they start school tomorrow. I’m sad in a way, I’ve looked after them since they were babies so it’s the end of an era, so to speak.
I was very sorry to hear the news from FGT yesterday. She and Himself are very much in my thoughts. I do hope his pain is being managed. 💐
On a brighter note, the wonderful Red Arrows flew in to Malta yesterday in readiness for the Air Show at the weekend. I didn’t see them but I heard them! Hoping the weather behaves so the show won’t be disrupted.
Wishing a good day to all.☀️
Good morning from Shropshire.
A busy day yesterday.Early drs appointment then household chores before driving over to Shrewsbury for a hospital appointment.A good result as I have been discharged from that clinic🥳one down!As we were leaving a message from DD to say her FIL had shown small signs of improvement so they would like to stay longer so could we collect the children from school.A mad dash over to North Wales and got there just as the school gates opened.Tea out then we took DGD to dance, spent time with DD’s MIL then home to bed!😴😴😴
Today a quiet day.It is going to be another sunny day so laundry and house chores then reading and no doubt sleeping!
I hope your neighbour calls round to thank you today grandMattie.
Thinking of all with mountains to climb💪🏼💐
Wishing everyone the best day possible 🦩🌻
Good morning from s somerset, should be sunny all day today
My friend seems so much better in herself with more energy and her life force is coming back, she talks a lot and I am happy to listen. The upturn seemed to come after me saying I would do her front garden, then could not go after my dental op, she did it herself and of course that is satisfying for her
I must do my regular walk today, it is just enough set exercise for my age. I won`t cycle as I am expecting evri to call with 2 parcels, one contains 60 ground cover sedum plus 40 cheerfulness narcissi bulbs, destined for the allotment.
My sedums at home hardly let weeds through and it still retains the look of a semi-wild garden but is generally weed-free. I want that same easy situation on that designated allotment area, sedums with cheerfulness poking through, the perimeter is already planted and doing very well. It was the old neglected rotten fruit cage area and took a massive amount of digging, sawing and root-prising to clear. That area is to support bees, to be beautiful and tranquil, somewhere to sit and to eventually become a wind break
I only need to do bare minimum housework today and will carry on knitting
Have a good day
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Mick I can never remember what day it is - and dates? Forget it!😁. Dawn is just breaking into a very clear sky here, with Venus and Jupiter still visible. And it’s a chilly seven degrees!
Yesterday I made a mountain of shepherds pie base and decanted it into foil dishes for the freezer before going to writers group in the afternoon, which was great fun. Had a long chat with DS in the evening. He will probably be down to see me the weekend after next. I hope the decorator has finished by then (I hope he’s bloomin’ well started by then!!) because the house looks like a junk shop at the moment.
Walking group this morning, and then lunch with DD before a visit to my niece in the afternoon.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and cloudy although still fairly dark. Bellasnana I know well that mad half hour with the boys!
Yesterday I stirred my stumps after a few lazy days and went to the school library for an hour. Back home, I put all the rubbish in the driveway to be collected by the council today. I generally pottered about the house too. In the afternoon I picked up the boys and then dropped off dgs1 at his football training. Both boys were good.
I had some unwelcome news though. I've been recalled to the breast clinic after a mammogram last month. The results were unclear. Fingers crossed it isn't anything nasty.
Today I'll get the boys, feed them breakfast then take them to school. Back home I might do a little weeding. The garden badly needs it. Dinner will be chicken and leek pie. Have a good day all.
Good morning from East Yorkshire it is 9 degrees with the promise of another lovely day.
I’m home alone and woke about an hour ago and can’t get back to sleep. I’m waiting for Bach before 7 to come on the radio. Thank you for recommending Madeleine
Sorry to hear about your news Grandmabatty I hope they can put your mind at rest not easy I know.
Morning Mick, morning All. If the forecast is right a warm, sunny day ahead.
Yesterday morning began peacefully enough. Delivered some flowers to a friend who had expertly shortened some trousers for me and began the will that sofa fit there debate with Mr C.
Unfortunately an unsettling message arrived from our goddaughter. She sent a link to a BBC Scotland filmed investigation into a care home, soon to be broadcast it is available on YouTube. Her Mums nursing home is part of the same group and her description of her Mums treatment tallies with some (thankfully not all) aspects of the programme which brought me to tears. Our goddaughter is at her wits end. There is little provision choice in their rural area. There has already been a safeguarding investigation, SSD are back next week. So far any positive change has been short lived.
Hoping for a less harrowing day today. Some cleaning this morning, with luck and a good foot day for Mr C who struggled yesterday a wander out for some air this afternoon.
I’m sure your neighbour will be thanking you soon mattie, strange behaviour.
Wishing everyone the best day it can be.
Good morning everyone, there’s a frosting to the top of my Shed and the car so a chilly start here in south Glos.
I felt decidedly ropey yesterday, goodness knows why, and had a very restless night.
I will take the dogs to the village for their walk this morning, I need to pop into the post office too.
What a disappointing response from your neighbour grandMattie, after all your hard work I would have been 😵💫
I do hope today goes well for you all 🌹
Morning all from West Oxfordshire,
I’m still in bed but should get up soon. A busy day beckons. I am starting an on line course with the V&A this morning. The topic is the Stuart’s and early Georgians. I can only watch the first lecture (I can catch up later with the second one) as it is Book Group at the village cafe at lunchtime. While I’m there OH will collect our daughter from the station. She is coming to stay for a few days.
Inspired by Blossoming, I bought a new winter dress from Seasalt. It is beautiful. It arrived yesterday and smelled faintly of fish! Apparently this is not uncommon so I washed it and it is fine.
OH had an eye test yesterday. I thought he would need a new prescription, but no, his eyes are fine.
Have a good day everyone. So many of the morning group are experiencing difficulties so I won’t list names, except to say I’m thinking of you all.
Good morning from Glasgow, where it is 6°C, with 16°C.
Another bad night, roll on my hospital appointment. My pain relief on a 72 hrs fentanyl patch and eight paracetamol daily , is not touching the pain, when it starts.
Yesterday, I had an unpleasant experience visit to the hairdresser's
As usual, I parked in a residential side street and as I got of my car, the door of a house opened and and elderly man started shouting and abusing me, because I was taking up too much space and he need to park his car there.
I couldn't figure out if he was at home, where was his car?
I automatically went into dealing with difficult parent mode and politely explained there was plenty of space behind me, it was a public road, with no parking restrictions and I had paid my road tax, therefore I was entitled to park there.
He continued to rant and criticise my parking, saying I was taking up the space for three cars. I politely demolished that argument.
I tried to explain that I was disabled and couldn't walk far, which is why I was parked there.
I don't care if you are disabled, that's my space!,
There were plenty of spaces, but he was obsessed with that particular space.
I deliberately moved my car a couple of inches forward, which made him even madder.
Eventually, in my coldest voice, I informed that this was harassment and if he continued to shout at me, I was calling the police.
The look on this bully's face was one of total disbelief, that I had had dared threaten him with the police.
With a snarl, he roared something inintelligible and slammed the door!
I don't think he will accost me again.
I was shaking when I got to the hairdresser's and my heart was racing.
The hairdresser said it happens frequently. People who live there think it is their own personal road. What annoyed me was that I had parked carefully, ensuring I wasn't making it difficult for anyone to exit their driveway.
The hairdresser and a client offered to walk me back to my cat, but I declined.
I was ready for round two, but there was no sign of him.
We have Babydoll today, I am praying I can find the energy to get through the day. My stomach is particularly troublesome today.
Enjoy your holidays, outings etc, Prayers for those, who have very high mountains to climb. 💕
Have a good day, folks.
Good morning from a dry but chilly NE.
I was woken by the heating coming on.
Yesterday was a better day, I managed to get an appointment for both flu and covid vaccinations at a pharmacy within walking distance. The GP surgery can get lost, days on end I spent online being told every time that there were no appointments available.
Today is going to be a lazy day, I am reading Sheku Kanneh-Mason's book, DD bought me a signed copy when she went to the concert at the Barbican.
I will also watch some TV on catch up.
Thoughts are with FGT, I can empathise.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex, the sky is clearing and it’s a cool 8 degrees. Yesterday was a sunny day but still with a cool north easterly breeze. As I’d been cold at night under the 7 tog duvet, I wrestled the heavier one out of its bag and into a cover ready to go on the bed. The end of September seems too early to actually put it on the bed, so I’ll wait a few days! That upset my back, so I didn’t do much for the rest of the day.
I’m at DD1s today, keeping the dog company, then looking after the granddaughters after school.
corner how worrying for your goddaughter and for you too. I hope Mr C has a more comfortable day.
grandmabatty how unsettling for you, hopefully there will be good news from the recall.
Good to hear about sunny holidays in Bulgaria, Turkey and Skiathos! Keep the photos coming!
Have the best day possible everyone. Thinking of those suffering in any way.
Good morning from a bright and almost sunny Torbay.
Happy holidays to the grans in exotic and warm locations.
How ungrateful of your neighbour, grandMattie, no matter how preoccupied she was! The quilt looked delightful with much to entertain a young one on the colourful side as the years go by.
Twins egging each other on is familiar to DH, Bellasnana whose younger brothers continued to do that into adulthood although sadly one was lost to a brain tumour nine years ago.
Your poor goddaughter must be out of her mind with worry, cornergran! We have to hope that the staff will be closely monitored now.
Thinking of you, Grandmabatty and I hope another mammogram gives a clearer result.
A welcome day at home for us after a busy week of commitments.
Have as good a day as possible. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning from a mild S E Essex.
I am going to lunch at a newly renovated pub today. There are 11 of us, very unusual for all of our girl gang to be able to make the same day.
I know there will be laughter, chatter and hopefully no tears.
Oh Marydoll DS4 has a neighbour like that man, horrid when he starts, he makes the other kind neighbours feel uncomfortable.
Thinking of our poorlies 🌸
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry bright start to the day, a bit chilly but due to warm up this afternoon
Hoping everything is ok grandmabatty it’s a worry I know but hopefully they’re just double checking that everything is fine
I’ve a low impact aerobics class at the gym this morning and then back to volunteering this afternoon, they’re certainly keeping me busy just now but alls good
That programme was shown this week here corner, it’s an Inverness care home and the programme is really awful and upsetting. I really hope your goddaughters mum is being looked after a lot better than some of the poor residents here
Enjoy your holidays pantglas, Sar, nannyjan, and everyone else away just now
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from a chilly W Kent. Art group this morning, not sure what to do this week. One of the other ladies has told me, on the quiet, that the lady who runs the group is being told she needs to move to a bungalow by her children!! Time will tell whether this is true I suppose.
Very best wishes to all
Good Morning from MS, where we have a 70% chance of a thunder storm today - it's been hot & sunny for 3 wks now, so the rain is welcome! ⛈️ Today is our usual day trip out for lunch, & I hope to buy a jug of 🍎cider as well.
I sincerely hope you get a word of thanks today gM
Parking nightmares MD - hope it hasn’t upset you too much. X
Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle, it is about 6°C.
Yesterday was rather cloudy after the early clear skies but I went out and planted my one remaining shrub in the new raised bed. I'm hoping that difficult corner is sorted now.
Today I have an early dental appointment, just for a check up, then various errands in town including collecting a prescription for my vital pills. Let's hope I've got them all now. I read up what could happen if I suddenly stopped taking them, it very much alarmed me. I hate being dependent on them. Until last December, I was a person who didn't need pills at all.
This afternoon, more sorting out of clothes, I'm gradually moving into cold weather mode. More reading will follow, I've a book nearly finished which I have promised to pass on to my eldest GS.
Have the best possible day everyone.
Good morning from sunny South Lanarkshire.
Yesterday was a long day. The bright, low sun caused major congestion on the drive east to Edinburgh as drivers, unable to see the road ahead, slowed to a standstill several times. Our journey took forty five minutes longer than usual and we only just got the children to school on time.
We decided we deserved a nice breakfast so popped down to our favourite cafe.
The day was spent doing laundry, a bit of tidying and making lentil soup before going back to collect the children.
DH decided to repair the broken pull cord in the bathroom which resulted in in three trips to B&Q!
A quiet day today methinks.
