White rabbits 🐇🐇🐇
Good morning from a dark, dry (I think) Bristol.
I had quite a busy day yesterday, with baking and washing. Then I emptied my pots. This involved removing the remaining small tomato bunches to ripen In the window sill or fry green; struggling with the triffids-like bean vine, etc. I tried to loosen the root filled compost as much as possible so as to top it up/replace it with fresh.
In the afternoon, I went to Tesco with my neighbour. Her friend came, so instead of taking barely an hour we were there for nearly two. Then my neighbour needed to go to the village garden shop. I took the opportunity to buy more compost, some daffodil bulbs and a few yellow heartsease plants.
I was exhausted by the end of the day and did little but doze in front of the tv.
I had a rubbish night, have been awake for 3 hours and have a long day before me.
The vicar has persuaded a singer to come and perform her 60s and 70s songs to the FAB cafe, free of charge. The last time we had something like that, over 100 people came. With that success, I’m expecting a lot more attendees. Barely an hour later, I’ve got an afternoon tea, where someone else will have baked and will serve me!
I hope that travellers stay safe, the appointments go well and people are content with their lives.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good Morning fr MS, 31c & sunny. Since it's Oct 1st, my photo shows "the golden month of October". Grammaretto: What a beautiful tranquil photo u posted of that garden - I just love looking at it!
Grandmabatty: Pls take it easy today after that marathon hospital app't yesterday!
I hope it's a lovely day for all y'all!

grandMattie Wed 01-Oct-25 05:45:31

peli, what bird is that please?

karmalady Wed 01-Oct-25 05:52:55

Good morning from s somerset, sunny today

I gardened here yesterday morning, dug out 3 small shrubs and have ordered a lot of bulbs to bring spring colour to 3 raised beds that I can see from all my back windows. I have been making life easier going forward and I enjoyed that time outside yesterday

Today I am out, cycling to the allotment this morning, I want to prep a bed for alliums, it should take me two hours, by the time I have inspected all areas of my plot. Onions/garlic/shallots will arrive soon and I want to get them in asap

I found another superb series to watch on youtube, 13 episodes of a horseman riding by, such a nice relaxing watch during the evening while I relax before bed but I would rather concentrate on that than my gansey knitting

No gansey knitting done again yesterday, it is very slow knitting now that every row is different to the one before. Easier if the weather is bad, I need the mojo back

I had to renew AA yesterday, they had put me on auto-renew, which I rang to cancel and after speaking to a lovely man, he got me a 30% discount. I feel much safer having all-in AA, just in case

I tried to find details from last year but looking through the heap of paperwork, could not find it. I need to sort and file paperwork, again a job for bad weather days

I saw another almost-ripe fig yesterday, nine ripe figs on a potted fig that I have had only for two years. They are beautiful fruits and plants and will be all along a s facing wall, I have another 3 baby plants, will have 5 pots in all. Easy plants and the fruit does not ripen all at once

Have a good day

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but we are promised a dry day.
I would also like to know the name of the bird in your photo, Peli.
Yesterday was my first day back volunteering at school this term. It was a very busy two and a half hours. I was tired at the end of it but it was very rewarding. The decorator had left by the time I got home but we now have paint on the living room walls. After all the to-do about the colour, I think it will do very nicely.
Covid and flu jabs this morning and writer’s group this afternoon if I feel okay.
Have the best day you can, folks.

RosesandLilac Wed 01-Oct-25 06:15:51

Good morning everyone, another dry start here on my hillside in south Glos where we had glorious sunshine yesterday.
Lots of posts on local Facebook about swarms of ladybirds in the village and estates; I put at least a dozen out from the house yesterday evening.
I spent the morning doing housework and getting the washing done, changing the bed and generally tidying up.
Tiddler and I had a very pleasant afternoon in the Shed, it was really warm in the sun.
Today I’m tackling my craft room, it’s very untidy and not conducive to doing anything. I have accumulated far too much ‘stuff’ so it needs a thoroughly good sort out.
An early dog walk from the village I think then I’ll get started.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

Grandmabatty Wed 01-Oct-25 06:20:12

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 14° and damp. Peli that's a lovely scene. GrandMattie I hope the numbers aren't overwhelming and you can enjoy the afternoon tea afterwards.
Yesterday was quite a long visit at the clinic. It didn't help that I mistook the road and ended up at Hearts Football Ground! I had a walk back to retrace my steps. Anyway, it was a very thorough appointment. I just need to wait for the results in a couple of weeks. I went for a lie down in the afternoon and slept fairly well last night.
Today I'm helping out with childcare so it'll be picking up the boys, feeding them breakfast and dropping them off then I'll do an hour at the school library. I will take things easy before collecting them again. Dd was going to do it but I feel fine, if a little tender. Have a good day all

Good morning from Malta where it looks cloudy and rain is forecast with a high of 27°C.

Yesterday I spent the morning doing various jobs around the house before a lovely surprise visit from the boys.

They are loving school and look so sweet in their uniform which consists of a white polo shirt with navy trim and school logo, navy shorts and over the top of it all, a navy and white gingham tabard with their names appliquéd in large letters, plus a few cars, trucks etc.

They stayed with me while DD3 went to do her grocery shopping. DGS2 had dropped off to sleep before she left and was furious when he awoke a couple of hours later to find he had missed out on going with her!

He calmed down but then became upset because daddy was picking them up to go and see his parents and he wanted to go home to mummy. I’m sure all was ok in the end.

There is the tennis final from Beijing starting at 8am our time, so I shall get up and watch it.

Grandmabatty sorry you had to go through that ordeal yesterday but really hope the findings will be as the doctor suspects. 🤞

Lovely picture Peli.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Ashcombe Wed 01-Oct-25 06:29:00

Good morning from a dark and peaceful Torbay with another day of sunshine forecast.

Yesterday was so warm, I went out for lunch in summer clothes and met up with the Props team at a pub on the Downs. They opted for the carvery whilst I enjoyed crab fish cakes and salad. A little local shopping on my way home completed my day.

DH was back from London by teatime, accompanied by my friend/neighbour whom he’d met at the bus stop. She had been on a walk supporting Pass the Baton designed to raise awareness of suicide, having suffered the loss of her niece in tragic circumstances last year.

Wednesday Club and then Choir this evening so I will spend part of this morning rehearsing the Bach B Minor Mass in readiness.

Happy hump day, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

mum2three Wed 01-Oct-25 06:34:58

Good morning from a rather damp Lancashire. Our energy prices go up today and I was intending to top up my meters yesterday but got side-tracked. It would only have saved me a small amount but it was the principle of it.
Looking to buy some warm pyjamas before the cold weather starts but don't like anything I've seen in the shops. If I have to, I could make my own if I can find some nice material.

Susan56 Wed 01-Oct-25 06:39:50

Good morning from Shropshire.

A couple of very quick appointments this morning.First the penultimate B12 injection in my loading dose and then down to Shrewsbury to drop off the heart monitor. We will go into Shrewsbury to exchange a pair of jeans at Next and hopefully buy a couple of winter tops.Lunch out and then onto Stafford to collect DGS from school.

Grandmabatty I’m glad you are feeling ok and hope the results are good🙏🏻

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩🌻

Ashcombe Wed 01-Oct-25 06:40:24

Just caught up with yesterday’s GM thread, having posted on the Where Is Everyone? thread instead!

It sounds like you were thoroughly examined, Grandmabatty so I hope the results are through soon. 🤞

Georgesgran Wed 01-Oct-25 07:08:29

Good Morning from a very wet Durham. Not a good drive home from Cheshire yesterday with the A66 closed and a huge queue into Barnard Castle. Having had little sleep on the flight, I had an early night, but have been awake since 4am.
I’ve a funeral in Darlington this morning - my Mum’s step sister, although I’m not very familiar - just by Christmas card. DD2 is going too, but then driving onto Edinburgh afterwards.
Holiday laundry to see to and DD2 has hers and DGS2’s to add to my pile.

Confused your dates Marydoll. I’m impatient on your behalf!

Best wishes to all. X

BlueSapphire Wed 01-Oct-25 07:10:47

Good morning everyone and happy White Rabbits Day from a still dark Northampton. A cloudy morning with sunny spells later.
However I shall be inside the Milton Keynes shopping mall, meeting the lovely Rosies Maw , shopping and lunch (with🍷)! Looking forward to it very much. I have another voucher to spend in M&S.

Yesterday was glorious, all the towels dried nicely on the line, and I had a lovely walk with my group. Some of us did a shorter slower route, as a new lady has joined us who walks with two sticks, and significantly slower than everyone else. We pride ourselves in catering for all walking abilities, so it is very little hardship to adapt the walk to suit. We still ended up at the cafe with everyone else and enjoyed cake and chat!
Almost fell asleep on the sofa when I got back, while.trying to read my book club book....

Wishing all a pleasant day.

kittylester Wed 01-Oct-25 07:17:15

Good morning all from a drizzly North Leicestershire.

DH is off to the gym and then to M&S while our cleaner is here. She is doing downstairs so I will stay in bed out of the way.

Have the best day possible, everyone.

Redcar Wed 01-Oct-25 07:19:06

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. High cloud with the sun coming through, and a bit chilly so far. A fine warm day is forecast again. Yesterday was lovely, a longer walk than usual, with a break for a chat with dig walking friends. Visited my dementia friend in the afternoon, she said “hello” to me but I doubt she knew who I am.
Chair yoga this morning, then I’ll visit my godmother this afternoon, she’s in hospital with a severe infection. I may be allowed to see her unless I’m deemed too vulnerable by the staff!
I hope your FAB meeting goes well grandmattie and hope you have some help with the catering. Enjoy the afternoon tea afterwards.
susan I hope you have a successful day’s shopping in Shrewsbury!
grandmabatty I’m pleased you are feeling all right today, hoping for good results from the very thorough examination yesterday.
Thinking of all those who are struggling in any way.
Have the best day possible everyone.

brook2704 Wed 01-Oct-25 07:23:13

Good morning everyone from Inverness where its still dark but a showery day is forecast
I’m off to the gym this morning for a couple of classes, there’s time in between for coffee with a pal, that’s the best bit. Then I’ll walk into town, have a quick browse around then get the bus home
Enjoy your lunch and meet up today BlueSapphire and Rosies and the 🍷
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

harrigran Wed 01-Oct-25 07:23:58

Good morning from a grey and rainy NE.
Yesterday was a quiet day, hoovered the upstairs and then retreated to the sofa with my book.
Today my sister and BIL are coming and will take me for my flu and covid vaccinations and then I will do my weekly grocery shop.
Have a good day.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 01-Oct-25 07:34:09

Phew it was very hot in Cordoba yesterday, I hope the pictures come out.

My friends and I had a lovely day.

Today we may wonder down to the marina, but then again we may not.

ginny Wed 01-Oct-25 07:34:21

Good morning from N.Bucks where it is dry but dull.
Slept badly last night , I think so have a trapped nerve in my shoulder and the pain kept me awake. Hopefully it will wear off. I’ve had to get up before DH goes to golf as I need him to help with putting my bra on. !
Bits and pieces to do at home this morning and hopefully a short walk. This afternoon is craft club where I am in charge of the project.
Hope all appointments , visits and travels go well. A good day wished for all.

luluaugust Wed 01-Oct-25 07:38:57

Good morning from a bright W Kent. We have decided to go into another local town today and have a wander and some lunch.
Best wishes

Sillydilly Wed 01-Oct-25 07:50:41

Good morning all from a newbie in East Devon.

Yesterday, I made a decision to stop being a lurker and actually post, starting on the good morning thread. Unfortunately for me it was not meant to be, due I believe to tech difficulties. I did however post on another thread, where Ashcombe welcomed me [🙏🏻]

A bright start here, although a little nippy but at least dry. Off soon to meet friends for coffee and then a small shop[😁]

Gingster Wed 01-Oct-25 07:51:02

Good morning all. What a glorious autumn we’re having.

Dh had his appointment with the Diabetic nurse and all his fears were well founded. I do feel for him , all his enjoyment in life is diminishing. 😢.

We had the wood burner chap round to give us a quote to remove our existing gas one and to install a ‘proper’ one. We’ll get another couple of quotes and hopefully all will be done before winter sets in.

Today I’m meeting a Bridge friend and taking her round to my old neighbours house for coffee. She used to go there as a hairdresser over 50 years ago..

Take care all and enjoy this beautiful weather, (those who have it). 🌻.

GrannyIvy Wed 01-Oct-25 07:51:39

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where the heating has come on this morning. It looks bright out there but we are forecast drizzle and cloud all day. Yesterday I made the most of the good weather working in the garden. After school pick up my granddaughter wanted to do her French homework, all done on an iPad now! She struggled a bit with how to save it and hand it in as all new but grandad to the rescue! Then it was geography which involved pen to paper. She was a bit flat as she had left her cheese twists she had baked at school but all in all she is doing well settling into year 7 at her new school.

I think I am doing a walk with DD2 this morning after she has done the school run but waiting for confirmation then a day to myself as DH is cycling with a friend and lunch out.

Grandmabatty pleased all went well yesterday and hoping the results will be good 🤞

Hoping everyone has a good day
